Friendly staff and a stocked store is a Plus! I like the self-wash stations, but the water pressure on the customer hoses is extremely low. I mentioned it to the employee, but even switching stations wouldn't guarantee better pressure, so I stayed since my 75+ lb pup was already soaked. What bothered me is the employee's sanitizing hose had much stronger pressure than the one we're given. With the wash being timed, weak pressure makes it hard to properly rinse a double-coated dog and still have time for conditioner (skipped this step) and drying. The spray-nozzle options are also inconsistent and lack real flow control. Management: Please improve the water pressure on customer hoses so we can actually bath/rinse/dry our dogs well within the limited minutes. read more

The manager there is very nice, friendly, carring, is well gromed, dresses conservatively which makes me confortable when I come into the store. He always remembers me and my dogs. I think he needs a raise in pay based on how well he keeps the store. read more

I like supporting local businesses and Pet Food Express is one of them. I like how they support animal shelters on the weekends and police K9s. Today, we had to bathe our Pound Puppy for his first official bath. It's easier on our backs to use their facilities. The only suggestions I would give is to lower the price of bath tokens from $18.00 to $15.00. I understand that water use has gone up, but 4 tokens cost $54!!! Secondly, it would be nice if the dryer system had "warm" air instead of just blowing plain air. Lastly, the amount if shampoo at our station was very low. We brought it to the attention of one of the clerks. She said the nozzle needed to be turned, but the amount that dribbled out was still low. Perhaps the shampoo containers need to be refilled. Once these things are improved, I'm sure your other customers will appreciate the changes. read more

Hubby went to pick up the order - which was delivered to the mailbox place where we get all mail & deliveries, and it wasn't there. Looked at the delivery notice... he had left it OUTSIDE the door to the business, instead of taking it in, as my delivery directions said. Contacted PetFood Express customer service. he was able to see my instructions, as well as the delivery person's picture. That driver has been blocked from doing deliveries for Petfood express, the tip was rebated to me, as well as the delivery fee. I will actually be in the area of this business today, and will pick up the replacement for the order. The system they have in place to review "misplaced" orders is fantastic! I will have no qualms for doing business with them in the future! read more

I was next door and decided to stop by. They have really good quality items here. They had a car adoption going on . They also had refrigerated dog and cat food. They didn't have my cats food but we got a different type. We got a huge bag of litter pellets. We also got two birthday hats. I also noticed they had birthday cookies for dogs. Definitely worth checking out they were so cute. They also had dog washing stations. It was a little expensive but definitely worth the quality. It's also extremely clean in here. read more

Worst visit ever. The GM was not the nicest person. Shocking. This WAS my favorite location. I often came here because PFE guarantees their product. I never have to worry about returns or exchanges. Even prior to this location I've supported PFE. Today I was like at differently as if I didn't have any valid receipts for my items. I brought 2 receipts. I've been coming to this store since 2019. Spent thousands here on a bi-weekly basis. Even with my prior dogs. But when I have a receipt and I needed to exchange an item before, there were No questions ever asked. Now the new GM (with dark hair) never introduced herself was not customer service savvy. She claimed my item was not on the receipt. But when I reviewed it again (luckily) the item was there. Open or un-opened items were always guaranteed. She was not clear or even sure how the new policy was or did not quite explain it properly. She claims new management took over. Quite obvious. The lack of customer service truly shows. When another associate tried to re-ring my exchanges she fixed the error. I know I purchased all of these items together. So was quite rude. I'm not supporting this location ever again. You're not the only pet food store near my home. I've always praised Per Food Express in the past and told other people to go there because of their guarantee and the buy 3 get 1 free deal. If there was a negative star here that would be my rating. They took the time to show me different types of food and helped me determine what was best for my puppies. There's even a self serve grooming area if you wanted to take your dogs in. This review is only for the dog bathing experience. I don't mind paying the $18.00 to clean my pup there but every time I go the area is filthy, there is fur everywhere including the aprons you have the option of using are always covered fur. Floor is wet and covered in fur, even the hose for air drying are covered on fur. I understand dogs are in and out of that area but they should at least have a cleaning schedule where they frequently check and clean that area. I was the only one cleaning my dog this last time and I left covered in another dogs fur, it could've only came from the drying hose or the tub itself. So disappointing. read more

It is always a pleasure to walk into Pet Food Express in Benicia! The staff here are consistently friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly, they love animals as much as their customers do. My littlest rescue dog, Abigail (see photo), was born without a lower jaw and had been choking on the food she was given when I adopted her. I consulted staff member Alexis, who recommended a canned brand that would be easier for her to "slurp." More than a year has passed without a single choking episode! I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I also frequently visit this store for animals that are not my own. In fact, it was here that I first learned the basics of how to TNR (trap, neuter, release) two stray cats I had found behind the Benicia Clock Tower. I also contacted them with questions about how to care for an injured parakeet that my mother had found in the middle of the street. Each time, the staff went out of their way to assist me. Today, I went browsing the store with my infant son. While there, the local school had let out and there were a lot of kids within the shopping center. A group of 3 girls (young teenagers) came in together. Within seconds, the employee at the front said that they have to be with a parent to be in the store. After the girls left, the employee reiterated "No kids allowed in here!" and laughed. It felt very odd and honestly made me uncomfortable so I strolled right on out of there. Since when are kids not allowed in a place of business? Surely it is safer for them to be there in comparison to the sidewalks or parking lot. I remember when I was young, I would have to run errands, buy supplies and such while my mom was at work. What a weird rule to have. I don't plan to stop by again. I went into the store on July 16 and Alexis help me find flea medication for my kittens and the mama cat. Unfortunately they also got worms so she help me find the medication for that as well. Alexis is a real gem. She is so helpful. Her customer service is top notch. The store is so well organized and very clean. Makes it really easy to find items you're looking for. There was also a spay and neuter Clinic when I went in that day and the ladies were so helpful, they help me find a place that goes based off of your income so I will be able to get these four boys fixed before I find them happy homes and also the mama cat spayed as well. So thank you ladies at the adoption clinic. So in an attempt to return them even for store credit they refused 3 unopened bags due to a new recent '30 day return' policy. The cashier did not even suggest to take the food off my hands because what am I to do with it now? The dog food was not cheap and I am out at least $150. Shout out to Benicia's Pet Food Express! I'm so grateful for their kindness and help on the evening of 2/2/22. My dog got sprayed by a skunk. I called them for advice and they said they have the oxygen wash and also shampoo. When I got there they set me up at the DIY bath station with the oxygen wash and also brought me "anti skunk" shampoo to use. They checked on me a few times to make sure all was ok. I walk by this store often and despite their (more expensive than most other pet store) prices, I like to shop locally, especially when the staff is as friendly as they are in here. I've purchased a few things here in several occasions, and the staff seem knowledgeable about the products they carry. I also like that they host different adoption days several times a month, and have mobile vets come in throughout the month. Again, the prices are higher than most other places, but you get great service, employees who know what they're talking about, are super friendly, and the peace of mind that you're shopping at a place that makes a big effort to find many animals a permanent home. read more

I am very happy about their service at this location. I have going during shelter and non-shelter in place and am amazed at the service they provide. My dog (american eskimo) is thrilled when he visits (except during shelter in place). The brands and foods make my dog very happy and cant compete with the other pet stores. Today I decided to take advantage of their home delivery since they offered a discount. Same-day delivery was beneficial and loved how they sent a card plus a treat. This really made the experience even more worth it. Not even Amazon can deliver this fast. I wont shop at those other stores because the service and products at PetFood Express is above and beyond. I wanted to share my experience with online ordering order pick up and delivery. Typically we shop the store but due to Covid19 we have had to change the way we do things now. Twice I placed an order for cat treats and litter which were picked up at the store front and yesterday we had dog food delivered to our home. All three times we received extra goodies and a hand written note, thanking us for the support.
