I've always been pretty happy with the PFEs around NorCal but this one left an extra sweet taste in my mouth. The staff were fantastic and asked if I needed help at least three times in my 25 minutes in the shop. It wasn't at all annoying because they were so genuine and I appreciated it! I hopped in there for some frontline meds (20-something Bux?) and left with 150$ worth of snacks brushes and toothpaste. Will return soon! read more

Every time I go here, they share a new store policy. Today I was told they would not return an unopened $40.00 bag of Tucker's frozen food that I needed to swap out (the turf and surf for a beef) as I simply grabbed the wrong bag! I had it on ice in my return bag and literally drove only 3 minutes from my house to the store. The supervisor on duty said she would make the exception this once. BUT they would not even be able to restock the unopened bag as the store policy says it could be tainted! I have shopped here for over 7 years and assured her that if she looked me up in the system, she would see that it literally went from their freezer to mine and back...but they unfortunately now stopped keeping track of transactions. (even though I have my phone number in the system and used a credit card). They also force me to buy all 4 giant bags which unfortunately don't fit in my freezer, otherwise I can't get the 3 for 4 deal. They used to allow me to buy 2 bags at 20% off for years! What the heck difference does it make to them?!?!? It costs the same for me! 20% off 4 bags actually is less than giving me a free bag after purchasing 3. They are not customer friendly at all anymore. read more

I absolutely love this place, they have a clean area to bathe your pet and they provide the right materials needed. However, I do wish that their prices were fit for dog sizes vs $18 for all. My dog is only about 9 pounds and I can finish bathing her way under 25 minutes so I leave a good amount of time on there with the blow dryer running. But once in a while isn't too bad. P.S. there's about 4-5 stations, so there will definitely be other dogs around! ‍ read more

You ask for something on one visit, they grant your request without question and then expect it the next visit, then someone named Chad tells you they don't do that. Then gets a little rude. They carry the best line of natural and holistic pet food that my purebred German Shepherd needs to stay happy and healthy. Beyond great food and high-quality pet toys and products they have the friendliest staff I've ever experienced. They are knowledgable and excited to see us every time we walk in the door and they are beyond helpful. We usually stop in for wash at their modern grooming area and someone is always standing by to help out when needed and a warm towel is usually standing by. Another great reason to stop by is for training and dog walks. We've experienced both and every Tuesday you can count us in for a group walk which is great for socializing in a safe environment. Fun Place! Went to the Beach with my pup, ran into Christin (?) and Mathew. They talked about the pet wash. They gave out a coupon but I lost it. The pricing was reasonable you can get pet wash packages where you get one free. The people here are nice and the bathing area is clean and easy to use. Much easier than what i have tried to do at home in my sink or tub. This place is so close to the beach and it has a bunch of toys, food, and treats. All you can get at a package deal. Shop here for my cat cleaning supplies. When I was checking out I got talking to Jeremiah about my 19 yr old Bengal cat that keeps peeing outside the box. Jeremiah recommended the CBG for cats. With small dose after 1 day my cat was Not peeing outside the box plus in much better spirits. Her brother also 19 yr old has more energy and it happier too, just like me! My pupster and I really ENJOY going to Pet Food Express! Not only is every single person there helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable to the max, but they all seem to remember my dogs name, and have from the first time I brought him in. He is always welcomed and given treats! We use the do-it-yourself dog wash regularly and the area is always clean with lots of fresh towels and each tub is sanitized after each dog is bathed. I was on a vacation in Carmel and needed some pig ears for my dog Dottie so we decided to stop by pet food express. All of the workers at some point during my time at PFE greeted me and my dog and asked if we needed any help. They were all very nice and helpful. We ended up buying some pig/cow ears and a token for a dog bath. The dog bath was so much fun! Although Dottie doesn't seem to like baths too much. I love how we we were able to choose what type shampoo! I picked the oatmeal one for Dottie,which I believe it said for itching. Then a rinse *dottie shakes* and time to dry her. I liked how they had blow dryers for you dogs too. I had a really great experience here! I'm definitely coming back. read more

The first time we went to this Pet Food Express, it was middle of summer, we had our dog with us, we were about to drive home for two hours, and the whole family had to use the restroom. Since we knew we could take our dog into the store, we went in, everyone used the bathroom and we bought nothing. While I was waiting for my girls, one of the employees struck up a conversation with me about my dog and was just a generally nice guy. When we left the store, we felt kind of bad that we used their bathrooms and didn't buy anything so we vowed to patronize this business the next time we were in Carmel. Flash forward six months to this past weekend. We were staying about 20 minutes south of Pet Food Express and we had a wild morning at the beach that ended with us hiking back to our car in the rain. Our dog was soaked and covered in sand so we piled in the car and drove into town to the Pet Food Express that was so nice to us when we were in a tricky situation back in the summer. My wife and daughter gave our dog a bath and even bought some treats. The employees were just as friendly as before and the store was clean and in great shape. We'll support Pet Food Express for life now because the employees at this location made such a great impression on us. Great job! This is a locally owned and operated pet food and supplies store. The owners and staff are all always pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. It's really nice to see the same folks everytime you go in, and they know their customers as well. This is really a refreshing change from the "big box" store experience. I really like the fact that they are SO supportive of the many local rescue groups in our area (Peace of Mind Dog Rescue and Animal Friends), and host adoption and fund raising events to promote pets needing "forever homes". This Fall, I started to have a flea problem with several dogs in my household. During COVID, it's hard to track the hours businesses are open because many have adjusted hours. We checked before going and the search results said 7pm, but when we arrived at 6:20pm, we were faced with a closed store. When I read the sign saying "temporary hours. Closed at 6pm," I threw up my hands, literally, and shared my frustrations with my son while considering buying dog food from Safeway even though our dogs are on special diets. Just then the automatic doors were manually opened by Ciara who was closing the store. We didn't realize she had seen us. She asked if we were out of food and when I said yes, she asked me what kind we needed. She then disappeared and came back with a small bag of food. She told us to come back in the morning for our full purchase but what she gave us will at least get us through tonight. I tried to pay but her systems were already down for the night and she said not to worry. Ciara just made me a forever loyal customer to Pet Food Express. Nancy Early, the story manager, is a doll! She was so patient and kind when personally fitting my yippy toy poodle for a Thunder Shirt. Nancy took the sample off the dog mannequin and strapped it up around Josie. She explained why/how the shirt worked and shared personal examples that she saw in her own store of dogs wearing the shirt.
