    Longtime happy customer. I have always had a soft spot for Pet Food Express since my oldest daughter worked for corporate years ago and I seen first hand the caring nature and charity of this company. My husband has always said our dogs eat better than he does... The quality of all the products and food here is top notch. He doesn't know it so shhhhh the cats eat better than he does too. Lol. So today was my first foray into washing my dog in the self serve dog wash. Everything started off easy buy your token at the counter get towels they give you a collar in case you don't want yours getting wet. The wash comes with soap, but... my baby boy smelled like he was digging and rolling around in a skunk den! So I brought my own concoction... $15 was well worth it. They supplied the tools and towels and the stink washed down the drain... They have a chain attached to the wall at the tub and another one at the blow dry station... This is where it got hard for me, My baby boy thought we went to this new place to murder him! He HATED the wash part and howled and cried the whole time! He didn't mind the blow drying nearly as much. While no dogs were murdered there our station did look like a crime scene... I hope whoever has to clean up back there gets hazard pay! I looked around for a tip jar... Didn't see one! Next time it's a two man operation, My first time I didn't know he was gonna act like that. YIKES!! Service is incredible everyone is so helpful and friendly. And they know their products!

    This is really getting ridiculous, since I yelped pet food express and exposed my negotiate experience at the fremont location and how they slandered my name too the San Leandro location after I had used their pet wash for approximately a month and a half without incident I might add. I get a call from Andrea Jensen stating because of the vicious and over aggressive 18 month old puppy, I can no longer visit any of the pet food express's. I know like I would use any of their locations after being treat like some maniac with a killer dog. Zero customer service after using the fremont store for over 10 years without incident. Once again hears the area that they now say my aggressive dog caused. Now it's no longer a bite lol.

    So sweet. Handwritten notes from a business are so rare!

The problem is that the packaging requirement was printed in faded fine print, and the aquarium packaging did not seem possible to open without cutting through and destroying it. I understand that stores have return policies, and I try to be very patient with customer service staff. However, this situation felt unreasonable because the requirement was not clearly communicated and the packaging itself made compliance impractical. What bothered me most was the manager's dismissive response when I tried to explain the situation. When I asked whether there was someone I could speak with about the details, she simply said, "I'm the only manager in the store," and as I stood there visibly surprised by how abruptly the conversation had gone, she then asked me to hold my receipt, without acknowledging my concern or offering any explanation beyond the packaging issue. I left feeling that the policy was applied in a rigid way and that my concern was not treated respectfully. I would caution other customers to inspect return requirements very carefully before opening aquarium products, because the packaging may be impossible to preserve. I used to visit this PetSmart, but now am very unlikely to return. That manager could have volunteer a number of different words that would have made the exchange much more respectful and empathetic - instead, it made me incredulous that someone with that attitude was the choice for a manager. ( I do have to say that whoever helped me with my aquarium selection a couple weeks prior in the fish department was EXTREMELY kind and helpful ) - I think that manager has something to learn from that employee. Perhaps they should swap jobs.

I felt completely at ease leaving Skye in their hands because they treated her like she was their own- I have an anxious attachment towards her. They took such great care of Skye, paying attention to every detail and making sure she was comfortable the entire time. When I picked her up, I was honestly amazed -- she looked absolutely beautiful! Her coat was so white, incredibly soft, and extra fluffy. She smelled amazing and looked so happy. You can truly tell they care about the dogs and take pride in their work. I'll definitely be bringing Skye back and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, talented groomer! Upon entering, the staff was welcoming. My dog follows a strict diet due to health issues, so ingredient information is especially important to me. I would recommend owners with dogs who have special dietary needs do their own research and review ingredient lists before purchasing (might even be better to make treats at home). Nostalgic are the times when I used to come here as a kid to see all the fish and small critters available for purchase, and now as an adult, it hasn't changed all that much. There are still sections for aquarium enthusiasts looking to bolster their underwater environments as well as for fur and reptilian baby parents with the goal of enriching or growing their family. In each section, you'll find organized aisles and shelves filled with feed, toys, medications, and other wares for sale. The prices are reasonable compared to online prices and plus, with their free (as well as paid) membership, you'll get rewarded for each purchase, incentivizing you to shop more for your pets. The points you earn are tracked through your account and can be earned and redeemed at any of their stores or online through their website. If you're a frequent buyer, you'll benefit greatly from their rewards program. The main reason for our most recent visit was for their vet services offered through Vetco, specifically for vaccinations. It's best to set an appointment through their website to ensure you'll be seen, although sometimes walk-ins are welcomed but not guaranteed to be serviced. For non-vaccine related vet services, I believe you'll need to make a different kind of appointment and work with the in-house staff during their open hours. If you've never been here, you'll be asked for your pets medical/vaccination history but once you're in the system, they'll track everything your pet receives from their office. The biggest incentive for coming here for vaccinations is the vaccination packages offered at reasonable prices without having to first pay and see a veterinarian. Despite being a mobile clinic that travels to various sites in the Bay Area, they do have experienced and certified vets on staff, available to administer the vaccines and do preliminary examinations. We were very satisfied with the service offered here through Vetco as well as the staff working the store. Everyone was friendly, patient, and helpful in helping us get what we needed and for offering ways for us to save money. It does seem this store brings in a lot of locals and frequent visitors as some patrons seem to be recognized by the staff. I love the neighborly vibe! Overall, despite being a well-established chain, this Petco has not lost its luster nor its commitment to serving their community of pet owners and pets. I'm proud and glad to have this shop in our area and hope that they continue to help foster creation of new memories for generations to come. Katie always does an amazing job on both my dogs. She is #1 professional and #1 excellent groomer. Sometimes I hide down one of the aisles so I can watch her groom so that Shiloh can't see me. I have never had any issues with my dogs nor did my mom with her dog. Communicate exactly what you want done. Example: I tell Katie do not trim his tail or ears and she doesn't. So thankful for Katie, I know my fur babies will always look and smell fantastic!

In terms of small animal products, I don't really trust a lot of the ingredients in the treats that they sell at big chain stores like this (ie. fruit flavored drops). But I got the vitakraft veggie pies, which I can at least sift through to remove anything I don't feel comfortable with giving my bunnies. They're due for a spoiling, and the chew toy selection in the store sucked, so this would have to do.

Because we never heard from anyone, we ended up visiting Petco, where we were able to adopt a kitten the very same day. He is now in a loving home, which is exactly what these animals deserve. PetSmart has the resources and platform to do great things for pets, but the adoption process at this location needs serious improvement. These animals are depending on you to help them find homes. Please do better.

One thing that really sets them apart is the products they carry. They have items on hand that you don't typically see at other stores--for example, I was able to find a roller mat gearbox repair kit there, which is something most places don't even stock. That kind of attention to what reefers actually need goes a long way. Their coral selection is also on another level. They consistently have more unique pieces than just about anywhere else I've seen, which makes it a great place to find something different and add real character to your tank. One thing I really appreciate is that the owners are always there and involved. You can tell they genuinely care about the store, the livestock, and making sure customers have a good experience. Overall, it's a very well-run store with a strong mix of knowledge, customer service, and unique inventory. Definitely a go-to spot if you're looking for both hard-to-find equipment and standout corals.
