Generally our go-to for our pet needs. My recent visit was because we ran out of food and needed some to fill in the gap til our next delivery. Brought in the certificate/coupon that we received when we saved our husky from the shelter. While checking out, I had 3 stick treats as well and the cashier told me that I'd get the 4th free and it's be a better discount than the certificate (heck yeah!). Overall, got the food discounted, an extra stick, a token for the self service dog wash, and they donated $20 to the shelter. Awesome! You'll find wet and dry varieties for both canines and felines but you'll also find feed for smaller critters as well. Their collection of treats and snacks is also immense. You'll find at least 4 aisles dedicated to chews for canines including horns, hoofs, antlers, bones, and hides. Biscuits, dried fish and produce blends, and jerky are also very common here with multiple brand options available. For biscuit and cookies, you'll also be able to purchase them by weight if you're looking for smaller amounts. They may vary in ingredients and design but they all seem very intact and organized. In addition to the edibles, your pets will grovel at all the toys and supplies to help them learn, play, walk, and be comfortable. From leashes, harnesses and boots for walks to beds, grass pads, and toys for home bodies, you'll be able to shop and buy all of them in person. Prices don't seem too much off from online prices but the benefit here is that you'll be able to bring it home with you right away while supporting a local business. You'll also find a self washing station here where many guardians take their furry pals to get cleaned up. The basins are quite large to accommodate larger animals and despite being self service, it seems to be kept pretty clean. The staff were also great during our visit. They gave warm greetings and were on task, keeping the place clean, organized and stocked. Management has done a great job building a good working culture here! Overall, Pet Food Express is for sure where you'll find your pet necessities quickly, but due to the variety of items, by no means would you want to leave quickly. The available supplies and extent of options give you plenty to look through. If you're looking for something specific, the staff are available to help and fortunately prices are reasonable, so you and your pets will stroll out happy! read more

This review is only for the dog self-service wash. My husband and son took our 8-year-old husky for a much-needed bath. When they walked in, they noticed the place was very clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Before paying, my husband asked if they could try the wash first since we weren't sure whether to purchase a single wash or take advantage of the "Buy 3, Get 1 Free" special. The process was very easy--shampoo and aprons were provided, and they had 25 minutes to wash our pup. This was more than enough time to thoroughly clean our 100lb husky and use the air-dry hose. The only reason we opted for just one wash instead of the bundle was the drying system. While the air-dry hose is a nice feature, it wasn't strong enough for our husky's thick coat. We'll be looking for a place with heated dryers, but if those don't work out, we'd be happy to return here. Thank you for the great service and for cleaning up after our very hairy pup! read more

Love this place, I think this was officially my first time in one of these in eons. This location has plenty of parking and is bigger than it looks from the outside. If you have trouble finding anything in particular just ask an associate and they can navigate you right towards the item or direct you how to obtain. I have yet to come across something that I could not find at this location and the prices for natural treats and selection are just right! This is my go to spot to wash my dogs. Service here is always amazing and every one is so friendly. The bath area is usually busy on the weekends, but the weekdays is usually not too bad. I have always had a soft spot for Pet Food Express since my oldest daughter worked for corporate years ago and I seen first hand the caring nature and charity of this company. My husband has always said our dogs eat better than he does... The quality of all the products and food here is top notch. He doesn't know it so shhhhh the cats eat better than he does too. Lol. So today was my first foray into washing my dog in the self serve dog wash. Everything started off easy buy your token at the counter get towels they give you a collar in case you don't want yours getting wet. The wash comes with soap, but... my baby boy smelled like he was digging and rolling around in a skunk den! So I brought my own concoction... $15 was well worth it. They supplied the tools and towels and the stink washed down the drain... They have a chain attached to the wall at the tub and another one at the blow dry station... This is where it got hard for me, My baby boy thought we went to this new place to murder him! He HATED the wash part and howled and cried the whole time! He didn't mind the blow drying nearly as much. While no dogs were murdered there our station did look like a crime scene... I hope whoever has to clean up back there gets hazard pay! I looked around for a tip jar... Didn't see one! Next time it's a two man operation, My first time I didn't know he was gonna act like that. YIKES!! This is really getting ridiculous, since I yelped pet food express and exposed my negotiate experience at the fremont location and how they slandered my name too the San Leandro location after I had used their pet wash for approximately a month and a half without incident I might add. I get a call from Andrea Jensen stating because of the vicious and over aggressive 18 month old puppy, I can no longer visit any of the pet food express's. I know like I would use any of their locations after being treat like some maniac with a killer dog. Zero customer service after using the fremont store for over 10 years without incident. The customer service here is always amazing. I would come back just for that alone. They have great self serve wash stations with high velocity dryers. There's free shampoos available, but you can also buy something else off the shelf, or bring your own. Whenever I've had trouble with an item, be it food or toys, they've let me return or exchange it without a receipt. The staff here is great. Customer Service here is undeniably A1! I meant to write a review after my initial trip in here, but got lazy and forgot. Then today David (the associate who helped me) recognized me as I was walking past the store! He must have been on his way in to work, and he even past the store's entrance to come and greet me and ask how my puppy is doing! They have all the BEST products overall for your dog from food, treats, & care essentials. They have all my personal favorite picks for my puppy. Also, they only carry the best brands with their prestige products. Not to mention the employees here are all super helpful and always wanting to find all your needs and answer all your questions as well! I take my dog here minimum once a month to get a bath. I'm between then we will stop by the gets toys, treats and dog food. The employees are always so nice and so excited to see my dog come in. My dog also gets so excited to see them and thinks they all have to give him treats because he's so used to getting treats from all of them. Highly recommend coming here because they make you feel like family. Also their pet wash is the best! I always buy the Black Friday deal of the pet washes and it lasts me the entire year. First of all the people there are always friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. I know that pet food Express periodically rotates their managers and personnel. I don't think this is really a complaint, but since the new shift of personnel there seems to be a lot less product to pick from. Meaning they always seem to be out of supplies of some kind or food. Which forces us to go to the Pleasanton pet food Express to get what we need. I know it is a delicate balance to have inventory on hand, especially when dealing with food. Pet Food Express consistently impresses. Regardless of location, the employees are passionate about animals, have extensive knowledge on the products and are very helpful. From the first time I owned a hamster to visits with friends who want to use their self-serve pet wash, to pulling my hair out trying to find food my cat will like, Pet Food Express has been there! SIP note- In the earlier phases of Shelter In Place (March 2020), Pet Food Express did an awesome job in assuring customer safety while shopping. Although I was not allowed to enter to store to shop, I could tell them what I was looking for and the employee would go and do the shopping for me. They were quick and friendly as usual. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes and I didn't have to touch anything. Either way, they had hand sanitizer at the front in case anyone wanted some. Currently (as of August 2020) they limit the number of shoppers inside their store. There is still plenty of hand sanitizer and plenty of friendly service. I choose to come here over buying online because of their friendly service and outstanding product knowledge. I have a very finicky kitty with special dietary needs and every employee I have encountered has been incredibly knowledgeable on products. So here's the thing... I'm constantly surprised by this store and how knowledgeable the employees are. I went the other day to try to find a good alternative food for my 10-year-old arthritic dog and Nicholas took the time to show me a few food options at different price points that would be suitable for her given her age and mobility issues. He was super knowledgeable about the different ingredients and supplements that might be helpful for her and was able to answer all of my questions more thoroughly than I ever would have expected. Both my dogs LOVE what he recommended (even my super picky terrier). I have come here once a month since we moved here in January 2019 to use the self-serve dog wash. For $15 you get 25 minutes to bathe your pup. I have a large black lab and she is around 65 pounds. I choose to bring my own soap as a personal preference which also gives me extra time to access warm water and the blow dryer which she absolutely loathes! But we have yet to run out of time before we were finished. They provide extra towels at no cost so if your baby doesn't like the dryer there are plenty of clean towels for your use! I have really enjoyed working with the ladies up front and they make the process very simple and stay out of the way unless needed. I didn't catch the name of the employee the first time but she was really helpful, showed us some food we could get for our other senior dog and also gave my puppy some sample treats that she loved! I didn't catch the name very well my apologies) was so helpful and showed us how to use the dog wash, where everything was and explained how the tokens worked! Employees are very nice and always smiling every time I come in with my polar bear. I'm sure you can bring all kind of pets to the wash, there isn't a sign on restriction... call ahead and ask tho!
