I had to go on a business trip, so turned to Yelp for pet sitters to take care of my cats since they have special needs. I'd prefer to not board them since it's such a stressful experience and loved the idea of them staying home and being comfortable. I was really impressed with the reviews for Mission Valley Pet Sitting Services, so contacted Sari. She is absolutely amazing!!! We set up an initial meeting, and like another reviewer said, she has a wonderful energy about her. She walked me through her credentials and took detailed notes on my fur kids. Both of my cats are shy, but Jude came out pretty quickly and took to Sari in less than five minutes. Gianni stayed in his hiding spot, but he came out and quickly befriended Sari on her second visit. I was shocked and delighted! Sari sent me updates and photos of the kitties at each visit, and it really helped give me peace of mind that they were doing so well and being extremely well cared for (she got some great photos of the boys!). She even brought them a new toy that they love. I was so excited to receive these updates and looked forward to them :) Sari also kept a detailed activity log for me of what time she came, how feeding went, what activities they did (lots of playing and TLC!), and general updates on how they were. I'm not much of a reviewer but this interaction I had with The owner Sari just left me feeling awful. I sent an quote inquiry to about 5 pet sitting services in the area. I'm leaving on a trip at the end of the month and I will be gone for 2 weeks. My inquiry was for someone to come to my home 2 times each week and fill food/water/clean litter boxes etc. The other days I would have a friend coming over to keep them company and feed them their wet food as I didnt want to bother her with the "dirty work"(i.e jobs at require a little more effort than opening a can of food). The other 4 sitters kindly responded with rate estimates and questions about my pets needs, which is what I expected. However Sari took it upon herself to not answer my question and instead judge me on the inquiry itself. She simply responded "Hi: I am so sorry but I believe water needs to be refreshed daily, as does food and the litter box needs to be cleaned every day. I do not consider those "dirty jobs". I am not sure what your friend is going to be doing if not taking care of those basics." I understand that she may have concerns but this is simply not a kind way of going about it. To clear things up my cats have an automatic litter box that is self cleaning upon every use and only the waste drawers needs to be emptied 2x a week and new litter added. They also have a free feeder of dry food that again only needs to be topped of 2x per weeks. And as for the water, as you may have guessed by now, it has a running filtration system that only needs water added 2-3x per week. Had I been asked clarifying questions instead of being judged about the care of my pets I would have happily answered them. But unfortunately that was not my experience. Sari, I understand you have many years of experience taking care of pets, however my concerns are not about your expertise but instead your level of customer service. After all your clients do all have owners and I would hope in the future you would respect them as much as you do your animals. read more

Sari is dependable and it seems that my cats love her presence. She send daily texts with pictures of the cats and I can tell they are happy around her. When we go on vacation we always leave our babies with my mom, but this time we couldn't because she was joining us at a family celebration in LA. I did my research, and noted all of Sari's good Yelp reviews. When I contacted her she said that she would not be able to stay at our house on the date we needed, however, Oz, one of her employees, would. We arranged for Sari and Oz to come and meet Roxi and Jake. When they arrived Sari talked to us about her various licenses and the animal groups she is involved with. She talked about Oz and his background as a pet sitter It really did make me feel better knowing that she is such a professional. Oz got along well with Roxi and Jake, and seemed to have a real affinity for animals. He arrived on the day of our departure and the furkids were excited to see him (especially Roxi, who is usually unsure around men). I showed him our dinner routine and then we left. He sent several texts during our overnight trip and included photos of Roxi and Jake looking relaxed and happy. We arrived home to find two happy, healthy little furkids. I think they were spoiled by all the attention! Sari and her employees will do their best to follow your instructions as far as routine, meals, medications, schedules, etc. During the "getting to know you" meeting she will go over those things so as to lessen any worry on your part, and to reduce any disruption in your furkid's routine. My girl dog can be neurotic, but I think she was pretty taken with Oz, which is unusual for her! He also left a log with the things they did etc. (where they slept, etc.) If and when we need someone to take care of our babies, we will definitely call Sari, and so should you! read more

These ladies helped us so much, I have no idea how we and our cat would survive our long lasting vacation without their help. Sari and Amy came to our house to talk about things we should know about them, asked about our kitty, her habits, character traits, etc. They are certified (!), reliable and next time we go on vacation, we know who we're going to ask for doing us this favor again! Our cat is too shy, but I thought that during our long three-week vacation she might come out finally to greet Amy, the nice lady who took care of the cat. But this cat is not one of those friendly kitties who know that the territory is theirs and they can come out with strangers around and it's the guests who should run and hide. She's not like that at all. So I'm very very grateful to Amy that she didn't try to force this communication, didn't look for her and pull her from under the bed to say hello. Amy was very cautious and careful. The main thing we wanted to know was that the cat is well-fed and her litter box is clean. That's it. Amy left a little diary for us which we found on the living room table upon our return. She also kept us updated via e-mail during our trip, took care of our delivered newspapers and took our trash to the curb and watered our plants! I was really pleasantly surprised to find out home actually clean, no dust on any furniture surface, which I expected to see, since we were out of town for too long. Amy is amazing! In fact, we called our favorite pet hotel almost a month prior our Christmas vacation but there were no vacancies even at that point anymore. We always boarded our lovely Zoey at a pet resort until recently when she was diagnosed with a couple of health conditions that made us double-think the option of boarding anymore. One of these conditions related to stress levels and the importance of keeping her comfortable in her own familiar living spaces. Another health condition was discovered about a month prior to us leaving on a 3-week travel (vacation and work), so, naturally, we panicked a little. I scrambled exploring all options and, based on Zoey's specialist's advice as well as my own instinct, the idea to go with a stay-at-home pet-sitter came about. We never used pet-sitting services before, just the thought of having a complete stranger stay in our house was too daunting to consider--but our pet's comfort and health are priority, so we had no choice but consider that option now. Upon reading so many glowing reviews here on Yelp, I decided to call Sari. When we finally connected we ended up talking for an hour and a half (!!!)... mainly Sari calming me down as I blabbered about Zoey's condition and how worried I was about boarding her. Sari is not a vet and the advice she presented was all based on her excellent knowledge on pet healthcare and behavior throughout the years, but she really put me at ease. Impressed by Sari's personality and assistance, I would have definitely used their services, without a doubt. Sadly, due to the last minute nature of the request and the fact that it would cover Thanksgiving holiday, she did not have any one sitter that could help for the entire three weeks. We wanted to avoid having multiple sitters for Zoey as she is quite an introverted pup, having many strangers come stay with her might set off her anxieties, so at the end we did not sign up with Sari. (We found a lovely vet tech instead that works at the hospital where Zoey's specialist is stationed at, and this turned out to be the perfect solution for us and for Zoey.) Based on the many conversations I had with Sari and understanding how she and her team work, their backgrond and impressive resume, I highly recommend them to anyone! Sari is the best. I needed a pet sitter for my two loving dogs in a pinch. The day I called her, I probably called at least six or more times and each time, she was very professional and polite on the phone, never making me feel dumb or stupid for the questions that I was asking. Prior to sitting for you, she comes over to your house for a consultation and to meet your pets. Immediately, my dogs loved her. She then sat down with me and went over all of her credentials. She is trained in animal CPR, has taken other numerous classes, she participates in so many activities involving animals and she is licensed and bonded. She also provided me with a list of references to call. Afterwards, she thoroughly went through each of my pets, what they like, don't like, any conditions, etc. I am a very nervous person in general and she answered all of my questions and made me feel 100% comfortable in the decision to leave my pets in her care. Her prices are very reasonable for the love and care that she shows your pets. She text me after each time that she came to my house, so I knew my pets were okay. When I got home, I found a daily log of what time she came, what she did with the pets (i.e. fed, water, played) and how they did. I will definitely be using her again. Do not hesitate to use Sari. I wish there were more stars to rate them, because they deserve it! I have been using their services for about a year and half and would not go anywhere else. My pet sitter is Traycie and she is AMAZING! Since one of my kitties is insulin dependent I felt more comfortable having a vet tech come to the house. I have had other people watch the kitties, but what you get with MVPSS is reliability, dependability and the comfort of knowing your babies are well taken care of. Traycie does a great job of documenting how much food they eat, what she did during the visit and what their overall attitude was. She also text pics of your babies so you can see them while you are travelling. Last year on a trip, a different pet sitter let my sisters cat escape from the house. I am not even kidding when I say Traycie printed out flyers, put them up in my neighborhood and when Willie was found she went and picked him up, delivered him back to my house and checked him out to make sure he didn't need vet care. Needless to say I never used that OTHER pet sitter again. On my most recent trip, I had a kitty who was not feeling well. Traycie made extra trips to the house during the day and even packed her up and took her to my regular vet to be seen. Since Traycie is a vet tech she is able to quickly identify when something isn't right. If I wasn't so comfortable with Traycie on this last trip, I would have had to cut it short and fly home. Normally, when I go out of town, I have our neighbors check in on our cat, but when he developed an eye infection (that required eye drops three times a day) I decided to try a professional service to ensure he got the care that he needed. The whole process from start to finish was both professional and extremely caring. Sari came to my home to meet my cat and go over her certifications, insurance...and gave me some great overall cat care tips! She's like a cat whisperer. Our cat is not normally outgoing when meeting strangers, but he came right up to her and had no problem loving her immediately. We went through how to feed him, how to give him the drops (which she did better than I did) and spent some time getting a lay of the land. When we left, she kept a journal of every time she came to the house and sent me text messages during each visit to let me know how our kitty was doing and if she had any questions. She even brought him toys as gifts, which subsequently he loves more than any of the toys that I got for him. Mission Valley Pet Services was GREAT! I called and talked with Suri for 10 minutes - we made an appointment for her and the sitter to come and meet my cat Biff. My wife and I were going out of town for a week and needed someone to ensure the cat's well being. The interview process with Suri and Katherine was straight forward and easy. It also made me feel better seeing that they were both cat people (we can tell our own). They also took in the mail, fed the cat, changed the water, took care of the litter and cuddled him. A lot. We got lots of pictures and regular updates from them which reassured us. When we got home our cat was calm and happy - yet another sign of how well he was cared for. I'm a first-time customer for professional pet sitting, and seeing as I'm somewhat new to SD I didn't have anyone to watch my cat when I went out of town for Christmas. I found MVPSS on Yelp and decided to contact Sari because every Yelp review was 5 stars... I thought to myself, "There's nooo way everyone has given this company five stars--let me check the non-recommended reviews, as there's bound to be at least a four-star review (or lower) somewhere!" Well, there wasn't :) so I instantly called Sari and booked a sitter for 7 days during Christmas. I was beyond impressed with Sari! She was very friendly, informative, and professional. She quoted a reasonable daily price which included a (free!!) consult. During the consult she described her background/credentials, the background/credentials of the sitter (Amy, who was with her on the consult), and a meet-and-greet with my cat and her future sitter. She also asked me questions about my kitty I would have never thought of to tell a sitter, but after she asked I thought, "I'm glad she asked that! That's really important to know." Anyway, my not-so-friendly-with-strangers cat loved Amy during the consult. I was a bit nervous when she walked up to Amy because my cat has a tendency to let you pet her for a bit then randomly get fussy and swat your hand away from her. Amy was great at reading my cats body language so she didn't touch her for the first 5 mins of the visit. My cat walked away then came back later and sat by Amy's feet and started nudging her... #UnheardOf!! That was a good indication of how my cat felt comfortable with Amy and she seemed really happy and well taken care of when I returned. Actually, when I returned my cat wasn't even waiting at the doot for me! Lol. Usually when I leave, and have friends check on her while I'm gone, she's waiting for me when I return. This time, she was MIA--I had to go find her and say hello. This solidified the fact that she got plenty of lovin' when I was away. Also, the best part of MVPSS are the daily pictures and updates you receive... It really gives you a sense of peace when you're away and I consistently got them at the same time everyday. Mission Valley Pet Sitting Services did an absolutely wonderful job taking care of our 3 cats while we were on our honeymoon for 18 days. Sari and Traycie were a pleasure to meet during our original consultation, and Traycie did an fantastic job of feeding and caring for our pets. One of the cats needs IV fluids 3 times per week, and Traycie showed us her expertise at performing this task during the consultation then sent us an update every time she administered the fluids. My husband and I were set to leave on our honeymoon, when our pet sitter backed out at the last minute Scrambling, my husband came across Sari's website....He liked her list of references, her training/experience with pets and the fact that she has a bonded business. Before she starts her first session of sitting, she arranges a meet and greet with your pet. Usually a few days beforehand. This is meant to gather any information she needs and to introduce herself to your animal. I loved the fact that she did this because it gave my little guy a chance to get used to her. She is trained in animal CPR and knows what to do in case of an emergency. Her background is quite impressive and you will be fully confident in her ability to take care of your pet. She definitley will do her best to try to accommodate your needs and is very easy to work with. Her rates are very reasonable. She will send you photo updates of your pet while you're gone and even writes down a log of what they did while she was there. It's little things like this that make her stand out from the rest. I have never used an in home pet sitting service before. I have always relied on friends to stay with my dogs when traveling. When I contacted Sari (the owner of Mission Valley Pet Sitting Services) about her company, she was extremely professional and asked a lot of questions about my dogs. Sari and Nicole (the pet sitter that stayed with our dogs) met with us before our travel dates. Sari was very thorough about her business, insurance, certifications, etc as well as Nicole's background. I had absolutely no hesitancies about leaving my dogs with Nicole. Nicole was wonderful about sending daily text updates as well as pictures of the dogs. She also helped out with a few minor household chores while we were away (picking up after the dogs in the backyard, taking our trash out, bringing our mail and paper in, etc). It was a wonderful surprise to arrive home to a house cleaner than the way we left it and two very happy, well exercised dogs. I also loved the fact that she left a daily journal letting me know how the dogs did while we were away. I trust Mission Valley Pet Sitting Services with my dogs and house when traveling and definitely plan to use their service again. Sari is as good as it gets. Beyond being responsible, trustworthy, mature, and all the basic things you look for in a pet walker/sitter - she has a heart and passion for animals! We have a 9 month year old Yorkie who is our little baby, and we were very scared to leave his care to someone else. Sari put our fears to rest during her inital free assessment, when she showed us all her certifications and community service - CPR, training, first aid, etc. She is also bonded and insured, which was important to us. Clarence (our yorkie) loves hers, and is always in a good mood when I get home after Sari has been there. She leaves notes letting you know what happened that day, which is important to us since he is a small puppy and we like to know if something changes in his bathroom or eating habits. Where to start....Sari is amazing. The care and love that our pets receive from her is wonderful. When we first met, she made an appointment to meet us and our pets and took the time to show us her training/certifications and we were very impressed. She runs a professional business. Then she spent some time with our dog and got to know her. We all agreed it was a good fit and we decided to have her start taking the dog for daily walks. Sari's notes are great and she reports everything (even how many potties) that happened on the walk. One day when I was walking our dog, she saw Sari walking another "client". Our dog was so excited to see Sari and had to go over and say hi. Seeing this really made me believe how great a job Sari was doing and how my dog just loved her! This review is quite old. I found it saved as a draft unposted, so am a bit late to post. Anyway, Sari is by far the best and deserves every star if not more!! I contacted her because she was in the area and everyone on here raved about her, and I'm glad I did.We took a last minute trip out of town and wanted someone to not just feed our cat but to give him some quality play time while we were gone since he is energetic and loves affection. She was very accommodating and it was clear that she genuinely cares about cats, enjoys taking care of them, and is a true expert in all things cats. When we arrived he had two new toys that he absolutely loves. All the toys we have bought for our cat he's only been half interested in. The toys she gave us he could play with endlessly. I highly recommend Mission Valley Pet Sitting Services. Sari, the owner, has been absolutely wonderful, and Jenna, our pet sitter, is amazing. I am beyond happy and thrilled with their services. I have been using the pet sitting services for a little under a year, and would continue to do so if we weren't moving out of their servicing area ;( That being said, Jenna has taken amazing care of our little Percy kitty. Sari and Jenna came to our place for a free consultation, and Sari showed me her portfolio, which included trainings, certifications for classes, behavior, medical care. Basically everything you would need to be comfortable. Jenna has been the one that took care of Percy, and he absolutely loves her. From the moment she came to the house, he warmed up to her, and from the pictures that Jenna sent us, I can tell that the two of them had lots of fun playing. Jenna was really good to us, she was always available to take care of him when we needed her, even on a shorter notice. She was fine with us canceling (within notice) if our plays changed and we let her know ahead of time. Sari is amazing with my kitties. I was really nervous about finding a cat sitter for my two kitties because I recently moved to San Diego and I am used to my family watching them. I found Sari and her reviews were beyond amazing. She came to my house for my consultation and provided a binder full of outstanding credentials. This instantly put my mind at ease. She has now looked over my kitties 3 times and I will be asking her back again and again as long as I am here! You can really tell that she loves all animals and is amazing with my two. Whenever I come home they are happy as ever and you can tell that they were well taken care of when I was gone. Not only this but she brings them new toys all the time, and they absolutely love them! My cat Finnigan is very weary of new people who come to the house, and I can really tell that he is feeling more and more comfortable around Sari, which makes me so happy! She send me updates and photos each day to assure that they are doing well, which I absolutely love. She also really takes care of situations that may come up as well. One time while I was gone, these little ants came into my house and were all over the cats food bowl. Sari saw this and took care of the problem in the same way that I would have taken care of it myself. She got a non toxic pet friendly ant spray, put the kitties in a different room, sprayed and wiped up the ants, and then moved the food to higher ground, which took care of the ant problem, while keeping my kitties safe. I loved this because she took the time to really keep my cats best interest and health in mind. After I get home, I always have a kind note and a log of the days that Sari came over, how the cats were doing that day and what she did while she was here. I really trust Sari watching my kitties, and she continues to do an amazing job each and every time she comes over. Sari is the owner and Christine is one of her assistance and they both came to meet & greet with me so that we could not only get to know each other and meet my pets, but to also go over everything there is to know about their business, as well as their licensing and certifications. I was hesitant at first, but they made me feel so comfortable and I love the fact that they took down every note that was needed to know about each and one if my pets. Christine is so awesome! She kept me posted and updated on everything, which definitely helped to ease my mind. We have found our cat sitter!!! My husband and I were heading out of the country on a family vacation for 14 days. That's a long time to be away from your home and especially your 2-year old kitty. Sari is professional and knowledgeable about cats and she is trustworthy. Her daily communication (photos & texts) with us while we were away was excellent. I woke up each morning knowing that our cat was getting love, attention and playtime in our absence. She is an extremely shy cat with strangers, so I wasn't expecting that they would bond so well by Day 2! Sari brought her 3 fantastic catnip toys that our cat continues to enjoy. The mail was brought in daily, our home kept very neat and Sari took great care of our fish tank by pouring in fresh water daily! There was an ant problem due to the rain and Sari handled it by spraying the area and relocating our cat's water and food after washing the bowls. I was slightly worried about the spray but no ants returned! Sari also left us detailed log sheets with daily notes. Best of all our cat was extremely happy, healthy and calm when we came home.
