We use to bring our Pekingnese Chloe here at least once a month for since like 2010. She passed 2 years ago and since then we've rescued a terrier mix, named Lilly. When I first brought Lilly in, there was a groomer whom I never met that took her to the back. I was trying to explain to him that it was her first time getting groomed and she was very nervous, as was I. He proceeded to ignore me while dragging her to the back just nodding his head. As I was leaving, and walking around the building to back parking lot, I can hear her yelps and screams. I figured that she will eventually get use to the process and she will be fine. When I picked her up, she was clean and extremely happy to see me. But she look as if she got groomed. I figured maybe she gave them a hard time and they couldn't really groom her correctly. I was just happy to get her home. We haven't gone back since. It's been about a year and she really needs a good grooming. Like a real grooming. I called Pet Paradise, to make an appointment. When I asked not to have the same groomer as last time, because I didn't like the way she was treated, instead of asking me what exactly happened, The guy on the phone started acting as if he didn't want to set up the appointment. He got quiet for awhile, I thought maybe he put me on hold as he was checking availability. Then he kept acting like he couldn't here the words coming out of my mouth. I would say Lilly, He said Woody? Ohh Woodley. After I had already said her name multiple times. He even returned my call saying he was calling to book the appointment for Lilly. I don't appreciate the sarcasm or the disregard of the treatment my new dog received. Because I've been a long time customer, I thought I would give them another try as it was just one bad experience. But from what I can tell, is that this is not the same establishment from many years ago. The grooming services has went down hill and the customer service is now non-existent. I would recommend finding a groomer that cares more about the animals then just booking appointments. read more

I am beyond upset with the experience my dog had at this grooming business. I brought in my toy poodle, who was always calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet. After leaving him in their care, I was told he had been kept in a cage for over three hours. Ever since that visit, my dog has completely changed. He is now extremely aggressive and clearly traumatized. I can no longer take him to any groomer because they turn us away due to his behavior. This is heartbreaking because he was never like this before. I don't know what happened behind closed doors, but something clearly went very wrong. On top of that, the staff were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional when I tried to address my concerns. There was no compassion or accountability. If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. I strongly do not recommend this place to anyone who cares about their pet. No animal deserves to be treated this way. read more

I've been coming here since I moved to the Bay Area 5 years ago. My large breed dog is sweet but can be difficult, I've tried to take him to places a bit closer to me but they can't even get him to get on the table. When we go to pet paradise, they greet him by name and when I pick him up he comes out calm with his tail wagging happily. I think their pricing is the best I have come across. They do a great job, but what I care about more is that they obviously are treating my dog right when he is in their care. I gladly make the drive to know that they'll be able to do the job and do it right. read more

I don't give out one stars lightly but the behavior, attitude and service deserves a one star or less. So I called about an hour before I brought my puppy in to get a wash, nails trimmed and ears cleaned. I was told by the lady that they would be charging $60+ depending on the size of the dog and services I would be choosing. I was okay the price but when I got the call to pick up my puppy, as we were walking out towards the car, i noticed that his back was bleeding; specifically on his back and no where else. I looked closer and it almost looked as if they scrubbed his back raw. I went back to the place with my husband and told them that his back was bleeding. The lady told took my puppy back in their store and maybe five minutes later came back out and said "the groomer put hydrogen peroxide ointment cream on his back and he should be fine". The BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE IS INSTEAD OF COMING OUT TO TELL ME THAT THEY WERE SORRY THEY RUBBED MY PUPPY'S BACK RAW. Before he went in for a bath, his back was NOT BLEEDING. Also, instead of asking if it was okay to put hydrogen peroxide ointment on my puppy, they did it themselves. What if his body was allergic to the stuff ?! The lady then proceeded to tell me that " oh sometimes when dogs come in the get a bath, they get de-shedded as well. First off, my puppy has SHORT HAIR, not LONG HAIR. Secondly I was NEVER told he would get de-shedded or I WOULD HAVE SAID NO TO THAT. Third, the response I got after I asked if the groomer saw what they had done, she said no. WHAT KIND OF GROOMER DO YOU HAVE THAT DOES NOT NOTICE THEY SCRUBBED A CLIENT'S PUPPY BACK RAW???!!! We have been coming to Pet Paradise for four years and in all that time they have been wonderful to work with. However, they changed their staff in the last 6 months and it has not been a good experience. We took our dog to get groomed once in the Spring and it was less than pleasant, but we thought maybe it was just someone stepping in for the day. We took our dog again about a month ago. When we picked our dog up, she was barking. The woman in the front came to the front door and said, "Do you hear that? That's your dog. She has barked like that for the whole time." Then when we got our dog, it looked as though they had just stopped trimming her mid-way. I had to try and fix it at home. I'm not sure what happened with their staffing, but we will not be returning customers. read more

I brought my matted golden doodle here in our darkest hour hoping that this would be the groomer we use every other month for foreseeable future. I want to highlight that my dog is suffering from a stomach bug and is battling a loose/watery stool at the moment. I was sure to tell them about this and repeated that he will likely have an accident during the grooming. I then explained how I wanted it cut. All seemed fine at first, but everything fell apart upon pickup. (I initially planned on tipping $50.00 given how big of a job I handed them) First- I was told that this business is cash-only when they called me to say my dog is available. Not the end of the world, but definitely annoying given 3/4 of consumers don't use cash these days. Second- when I got there they brought him out with diarrhea all over his butt. I understand how frustrating it is dealing with that (I have been cleaning it up for 2 days now, so I know), but I am appalled that this business felt it was no big deal to give him back to me this way. I would rather have them say they needed to charge me twice for a bath than cut his hair as he was pooping on himself - that is 10000% what happened. Third- the haircut was okay overall, but you could tell they got tired of the job toward the end and rushed it. I requested his ears be cut as short as possible (he has elephant ears) so he doesn't drag them in the water bowl and on the ground, and that his tail be cut shorter than average so we can avoid more poopy messes over the next day as he recovers. When picking him up, the ears had barely been trimmed, the tail looked untouched, and there are ocasional longer clumps of hair on his legs. Cherry on top- while my Spanish is not fluent like it used to be, I know enough to understand when someone is getting frustrated and complaining about being asked to fix the areas that were done poorly. So the owner could finally be done with the job, he chopped the chair off my dogs ear (must have used a butchers knife) and left it more uneven than even my own worst haircut, and I've gone to SuperCuts multiple times. I attached pictures of the ears as well as his rear-end so everyone can see what I'm talking about. Go somewhere else where they show your dog some genuine TLC rather than treat them this way. read more

I came in to have my cat's matted fur taken care of, and they did an excellent job removing the matted fur without disrupting her coat. Usually groomers just shave the entire area, but they were very careful. Since they did such a good job, I came back to get my Boston's nails clipped (they take nail clippings as walk ins--took no more than 5min) and again they did a great job. I've been to another groomers in the area and they charged me more without doing that great of a job. I plan on always coming back to Pet Paradise from now on! read more

My Gizmo was mishandled so bad. I have been bringing my fur- baby in this place for awhile now. The staff is great ANGELA is awesome, good customer service. Unfortunately we are ending our relationship with this grooming company after the groomer accidentally hurt gizmo's private part. We tried calling them but unfortunately they're closed on Sundays and Mondays and as soon as they got back to me it was already Tuesday. Good thing I got a daughter in law who was a Vet Asst and walked me through healing process for Gizmo. The groomer was denying it and said there is nothing they can do. And bec it was weekend we had to improvise something to put around his neck. People pls inspect your dogs after the grooming session. I hope this dont happen again to anyone read more

Just picked up my dog from this place and I DO NOT RECOMMEND. First of all I walked in asked for prices she said $60 for my little miniature poodle under 10lbs ok great price! Came back to pick him up and guess what it's now $70, that's how they get clients ?? Telling them cheap price for walk in and when they pick up it's a different one ? Second I told the receptionist that I did not want them too cut his penis hairs completely off because he has peeing problems if his penis hairs are completely shaved it just makes it WORSE and he'll pee his stomach way too much I made that very clear!! First thing I checked is his penis and yay all of it shaved! Now to be miserable till it grows back! I got an "I'm sorry" NO you are not and now the last BAD thing they gave me my dog with poop on his bottom and luckily I seen it when I was putting him in the car, went back inside and she said I'm sorry I didn't see that did he just poop? No lady he pooped in the cage where you put him don't act STUPID!! I heard a male groomer said that it was normal for him to have poop smudge on his butt? Completely disgusting and unprofessional. Ive brought my dog here before and usually a good experience. I scheduled an appointment for my 5 pound poodle at 10 and it normally takes 2/3 hours. It was 1:30 when I called to see if he was almost ready as it had been over 3 hours and the lady tells me "he hasn't let us touch him he sun the cage." they had the audacity to not even call and let me know that he was apparently "not letting them touch him" instead, left him in a cage for 3 hours and 30 minutes and even when I got there, there were multiple dogs everywhere, two dogs leashes being tangled together, dogs barking like crazy, and also, I did not even receive a well deserved apology for leaving my poor beautiful poodle in a cage for 3+ hours in 91+ degree weather. read more

We've been taking our dogs here for years. They never do anything to make friends with the dogs. And our dogs hate coming here. One of them has started to begging when we pull up in the parking lot. I think I'm going to take his advice and look for another groomer. We started using this groomer at the recommendation of another groomer who was too busy for us. The haircuts are decent enough. Were you ever that kid back in grade school who was the last one to be picked up after school? When all the other kids have left and you're the only one left there wondering if your mom and dad forgot about you!? Sadly, yesterday I was that parent. From what I read on their Yelp page, my understanding was that Pet Paradise was open until 7pm.... that's wrong. They actually close at 6pm!! Ooops! I was late picking up my fur-son (aka my dog) after his grooming session. He was dropped off at 3pm and I got a call at 5:15pm that he was ready to be picked up. I was still on Bart at that time coming back from work and I knew I couldn't get over to Concord until a little after 6pm. No big deal right? They close at 7 afterall.... When i got into my car and started driving towards Pet Paradise, I got another call a little after 6pm from Thearella (sorry if i'm butchering her name!) saying that they close at 6pm. I FELT SO BAD. Says on Yelp that they close at 7pm! (I took the liberty to edit the business hours, should be updated after the info is reviewed by a Yelp Moderator). Anyway, so i finally arrive at 6:10pm and the place was dark and my fur son was the last doggie there! Sad face. Despite my tardiness, the nice lady at Pet Paradise was still very courteous and appreciative of my business. She was the last person there and had to wait around a little just for me to show up. I SO APPRECIATE good customer service, and I'm telling you, it doesn't get any better than that! :) If you live in the 925 area, look no further for your pet grooming needs. Sucks that I have to leave this review but I've been bringing my dog here for a few years now and sadly today things changed. I brought my dog in like usual, they said service will take 2-3hours. I called 3 hours later to ask when he will be ready and they answered me with "I don't know when he's going to be ready" (WELL THEN WHO DOES?!) I then said "well he's been there 3 hours already and you guys said the service only takes 2-3" she said hold on... then proceeded to say that in 30mins he would be ready. I headed to pick him out, I planned to give them the whole 30mins but within 20 she called back and said he was done and ready for pick up.. weird because you guys literally had no idea when we was going to be done a few moments ago... anyways to my surprise I come home as always to find out that his paws and butt are still matted, they only gave him a trim not a full haircut as he normally gets, he's a maltipoo so if you know you know... the hair on his belly is super uneven, looks like someone stopped mid service. The WORST! they charged me $65 for basically nothing. I''ve always been happy and satisfied with the service here offered here but I have no idea what happened today. DEFINITELY won't be coming back to this place again. Consistency is key and they lacked that today. Now I have to go and spend more money on a real haircut.... So annoying.. read more

We have been bringing our dogs here for about 2 years. At first they were great, but they have really gone downhill. We have 2 small-medium dogs that get pretty stressed at the groomers so we have always asked for them to call us as soon as they are done so they don't have to be there longer than necessary. We had a 12:30 appointment today and they called us at about 9:45am and said they had a cancellation and asked if we could bring them in at 10am, which we did. They are usually there for 2-2.5 hours. Around 1:45pm I called to check on them and no one answers and the voicemail box was full so I couldn't leave a message. After 3 more calls with the same outcome my husband went there to check on our dogs. When he arrived they had no idea which dogs were even ours and when they brought out one of them her head was still not trimmed so they said it would be 10 more minutes. 15 minutes later they brought her out with another dog that was not ours. I have stayed with these groomers because they cost a lot less than some others in the area, but I'll be paying more to go elsewhere from now on. read more

Admitted to their mistake and owner & manager said it's my problem not theirs that they messed up the prices. I only got a bath done! No nail clipping ear cleaning etc. My dog is medium size and barely has hair from its breed. And they told me it would only be $35 because the size and breed . Which is a German shorthair pointer. False advertisement & wouldn't even own up to their mistakes or accommodate me whatsoever. On top of that the worker named Angela was not slow with taking my dog. She was dragging him by the collar. Made him choke. No patience or consideration. I don't feel like this grooming place cares about their animals whatsoever. Horrible staff, not good with animals. Don't even know how to run the place with their own pricing. They do not even clean. Very unsanitary. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! If you care about your animals, DO NOT!! go here. read more

I've been going here for nearly 3 years now. I'm not one to write negative reviews, but after seeing my dog's BLOODY paw, I thought I should share for people thinking about coming here. Since it was raining, I left a towel in the backseat of my car to avoid getting it wet and dirty. Noticed when I got home, there were red stains all over the towel which lead me to notice that my dog's paw/nail were bleeding. What is un-professional is that the groomer didn't even bother to bring that to my attention and be accountable. I had to find that out on my own when I got home. Dropped off my dogs for an appointment at 1:30, and I wasn't notified until 6pm for pick up. I have 2 tiny dogs and it never takes more than 2 hours max to get groomed, especially with an appointment. I couldn't get an appointment with my normal groomer so I decided to give this place a try. They are closer to my house and seem to have positive reviews so I thought why not. I brought My small 11 pound Yorky mix and my 1yr old shitzu. Upon arriving home we noticed that they had nicked the shitzu. Now I understand accidents happen but they did not mention the cut to us at all when we paid not only that upon artiving home we set our dog down and watched him walk and we noticed that he was limping. They had cut one of his nails down too far. Now this is dog grooming 101 clipping nails should be basic knowledge. Even I know that you don't clip them too far and I'm not a groomer. So they clipped him so far that my dogs nail were bleeding and he was limping. Like wtf... I was extremely upset that they didn't mention this to me when paying. For this reason I will never bring my dogs back here. If they would have mentioned it, I may have let it slide this one time, but they didn't. Extremely unprofessional etiquette to give me my dog back and not say anything. Its the sneaky behavior that made me not trust them nor want to return.
