May 09, 2020 We made an appointment for our dog at roughly 1000 and were told to expect a call in a couple of hours. We were advised that we needed to be back in for our appointment in 10 minutes. We arrived exactly 10 minutes later and Giselle Concepcion DVM came out and said we were 20 minutes late. Nope! We showed her our telephone and we received the call at 1225 and it's now 1239. To top it off my dog has a bump from their rabies shot. They want me to pay more money to see the bump from the shot they gave her. They don't even let you in when they give the shots for the dogs. Very very slow and for no apparent reason. There were a good amount of people but the time it took to tend to each registration was ridiculous! There were several staff members working yet I stood in line for 1/2 while only ONE animal was registered. After an hour, I gave up and left. I don't have time to wait that long for one vaccination. I've never felt more uncomfortable & my dog was absolutely petrified, let lone traumatized; I have never seen him jump so fast to me & shake so much in my life. The biggest problem with this Clinic is the husband of dr. Conception the owner. He is condescending with his staff and treats customers very rudely and very abrasive. I went there for the 1st time since my vet was closed on a Saturday. FB post was 25.00 for office,but when I got to check in he told me it was $40.00 and told him about the FB post,he said that was the year before before. This Vet clinic has been such a positive experience for me. I can't remember the name of the one that was before this place that used to set up in Theresa's but this is definitely an upgrade. The help you get from not just the vet but the vet tech is great and you can even get some great info from the wonderful people that check you in and out. I've brought two different dogs here within the last two years and have not been let down. The pricing is great if you're on a budget and the care you receive is top notch. You even get emails that help you set a profile to easily keep track of your pets vaccinations and exams on an app. Definitely recommend to all friends and family. read more

We have been taking all 5 of our pets to Pet Pawz-itive for many years. I think that when they were in Theresa's pet they had to abide by Theresa's ethics..... Ever since they opened their brick-and-mortar store, They are less than honorable. I brought our cat Banjo in for all his vaccinations, as I was getting the automated texts saying he was due for all his vaccinations. When I got up to the counter, I was told that for some reason they don't have any records for Banjo. Banjo is 13 and we have been taking him here for quite some time. I was then told that 1 of the vaccines required an exam and blood test, this was due to NO RECORDS being available. I agreed to the exam and blood test as If I went elsewhere, i assumed I would need the same exam and test. Since I was paying for the exam, I asked if they could look at Banjos tail. He was playing with his brother and he had a spot on his tail that some hair was missing. They took Banjo in the back and I waited for 30 minutes. The Vet came out and said Banjo was in pretty bad shape. He needed pain meds, anti-biotics, A full blood panel, Urine collection, Feline profile plus, wound care advanced, Gabapentin etc.... The Vet said, sit tight and someone will be out to discuss the costs. She just wanted to go over it with me first so I wouldn't be shocked. Another tech came out and showed me an $890.00 estimate. When I asked what I owed just for today, he told me $99.00. I said don't I owe for the vaccines? He said, oh... we can't give banjo the vaccines today... Now, I understand that Banjos tail needs some care but after all the BS and over inflated estimate with things not needed or asked for, I could no longer trust this vet. I will never return, nor will I ever recommend this business. Stay away from this place....just a follow up on the owners response to my review. You said you had no record of banjo. How is that possible? You stated there were no records of a blood panel. How would you know if you didn't have any records on him. I wasn't asked if I took banjo elsewhere or did he have a blood panel. Yes I came in for vaccination but never insisted on them. Was shocked and surprised to find out that he didn't receive them. My experience and that's all I can judge your professionalism from is that you are not trustworthy, and based on that and that alone, my review stands. I brought my sick cat here. He could not urinate. I was told they pet positive would get his urine out through a needle even though he had peed on the table. To get a clean result it would need to come from his bladder the doctor said. I was not told they were going to use the table top urine so a culture in addition to lab work could not be done to figure out the specific bacteria in his bladder because they took the urine from the table without telling me!!!! A waste of time and money. Please be very careful if you go here, I would go as far as taping your conversation with the staff and doctors. So disappointed. read more

Shame on Pet Pawzitive!!! My daughter took her Pug in for teeth cleaning. When she took her in, she was told there looked like one tooth that may need to be removed. The cost of the cleaning is $500.00 and if any teeth needed removed. It would cost $100.00 per tooth. My daughter got a call when the procedure was done and they pulled 18 teeth! I don't know if they are desperate for money or if the dog really had 18 rotten teeth. The big issue I have is they didn't have the courtesy to call my daughter and let her know before they pulled them all. This would have allowed my daughter to get a second opinion at least. The total bill was around $1,300 when she was expecting $600 based on the vets initial statement of a single bad tooth. Very poor customer service. Also, pulling 18 teeth at the same time seems like animal abuse to me. Would anyone allow a dentist to pull half of your kids teeth at once? Shame on Pet Pawzitive read more

I have had good experiences with Pet Pawz-itive in the past. However, the last two times I have gone there have disappointed me to the point where I will not be returning. First, was the dental procedure which was very disappointing since it seemed to have done very little to clean my dogs teeth. I will have to have a real teeth cleaning procedure done over again somewhere else since it seems they did little more than brush her teeth for $140. Second, was yesterday when I went to get my puppy her second round of vaccinations. The receptionist informed since the puppy had not been there before she would need an examination. My puppy has already been examined by another veterinarian when she got her first round of shots and I had the paperwork with me but that didn't seem to matter. Then she told me they had no more openings for examinations that day so my puppy could not be seen at all and I would have to come back another day to get my puppy vaccinated with no specific time or date to speak of. I'm just supposed to waste my time again another day in taking the chance they have an opening for something that should take less than ten minutes? I thought this to be a bit strange since I saw no one waiting, they don't take appointments, it was three hours until closing and was a repeat customer. Previously, there was never a demand for extra money for an examination they apparently didn't even have time for. They had never tried to force me to get an examination done before with either my dog or cat. I guess they must have changed their policies. They have lost my business and I will not be bringing my animals back to them anymore as there are many other options available in the area. This is disappointing since I do like Theresa's Country Feed and Pet store but the pet Pawz-itive clinic has gone downhill. read more

This was my second time there. The first time was a good experience, where as this time I will not ever return. Due to this pandemic things were run differently. I was ok with having to wait to return, but when I arrived I was told they would not service me because I didn't answer my phone or text! Thank goodness, I had my phone and showed them I never received a text and I did get a call. I live approx 25 minutes from Theresa's. They did not tell me I had to be there within 20 minutes of their call. After this snarky man said they will be seeing me, I decided I was over it. My dogs got their needs met. I like this clinic as the staff and Dr G Concepcion are very nice and thorough in their work. However they have to do something with the wait time. I waited over 3 hours for a follow up check up. When I checked in, staff told me to come back but how can I do that if I live over an hour away? That will be a waste of gas $ and time. May I suggest that you come up with a system like some restaurants have now . With the current technology, you can implement an online check in and text clients when they're time is about 30 or even an hour out. This will save us the frustration and will even free up waiting space at Theresa's. If my next visit wait is this long again, I may have to look for another vet. read more

Even during COViD, I have always had the best experience. Many of the negative reviews regarding this vet were related to when they were operating out of Theresa's. The wait was way too long, there were too many people crowed into too small of a space, and people and their dogs were cranky everything about it except the vet Gissel herself was unpleasant. Based on the negative reviews and my own negative experience at Theresa's, i decided against using them again. Then I went to a low cost clinic to get my dog his rabies shot for $37 but there wasn't any place to park in the parking lot and there was a line out of the building and onto the sidewalk. What peaked my interest in giving them another try was the designated appointment time and the ability to get my dog vaxed without waiting for hours in line at one of the other clinics in town. I was a little put off by the requirement for prepayment for the office visit but I went ahead anyway and paid it, I think it was $49. I booked an appointment for the next day. I got there right on time cause if you don't, you lose your deposit. The new facility across the street from Theresa's was impressive. Only a brief wait before i was shown into an exam room. The place was brand new. There's a computer terminal in the exam room, just like Kaiser. Within minutes after the initial intake was completed, the good doctor came in. She was informative and provided advice that I thought was oriented to keeping my dog healthy and not directed to generating big dollars for a dental cleaning. She gave me a lot of her time and I felt like a better informed dog owner when I left. I was there for dental cleaning and rabies but she thought my dog was too overweight and the anesthetic might be a problem (something another vet didn't mention when we did the last cleaning). Instead, she wrote me a prescription for diet dog food and told me to come back when he was slimmed down. I was charged an additional $15 for the rabies shot and certificate. I was in and out in about twenty minutes. It cost me $64 total instead of the $37 for the discount clinic but well worth it since there was virtually no wait. Everyone I encountered, including her husband, were very polite and professional. Low stress, efficient and pleasant experience overall. My dog liked it too and he's losing weight. I would not hesitate to go back again. read more

This is my first experience with an "affordable" veterinary clinic and will definitely be my last! The setting made me uneasy, not at all inviting and warm. I was unimpressed by the DVM's demeanor...again, not at all warm and inviting. It was anything but "affordable" when all she was doing was up-selling product. Do I feel she is passionate about animals?...maybe her own. The only saving grace in the whole experience was a really sweet vet tech. I walked out feeling dirty, violated and disheartened. I see many posts about long waits and no exceptions being made for being late, they give an estimated amount of time for your appointment time. I understood this and instead of waiting for that call back to get into my car, I made it a point be in the area of the store around that time so that I'd be ready once that call came. A little forethought, preparation and respect for other people's time is all it takes to avoid a huge headache. I understand that we as healthcare providers must be efficient with our time and focus on the acute care needs of our patients and their families/friends needs. With that being said, it's NO EXCUSE to forget an essential part of being a healthcare provider (doctor, surgeon, nurse, medical assistant, etc.) which is NEVER forgetting to have: EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNERS. This is one of the most simplest,honest,humble gesture you can ever express to an individual in their time of need which will help the patient and their loved ones feel more relaxed, comfortable and trust worthy (build rapport) and last but not least only takes less than 30 seconds to say: "Hello, welcome, my name is Dr. Conception how can I help you today?" Not only will you build more Clientele but you will also come across as humble and sincere to your patients which in turn will make them APPRECIATE you as a person. The info you provided me that day for my Charlie Bear was concrete and descent and the price is fair which I didn't mind at all but for me as a nurse I tend to appreciate the small and simple things such as great bedside manners for this one simple Important gesture is what will make me Come back to see that provider and allow me To make referrals because I know at the end that the doctor took an extra second out of their busy day to acknowledge my presence! Went to get dog vaccinated for 2nd dose. It's over 90 degrees outside with no shade. Made to wait outside with zero shade. They eventually took dog in to put on scale and then back out again in full sun. I guess can't give a shot and weigh at same time. Ridiculous. No long lines or anything. I went to the pet Pawz-itive clinic today and was extremely disappointed with how Zach was talking down to other patrons, the staff, and myself. I am relieved to see that I am not the only one who notices this belittling, disrespectful, and straight up rude behavior. He speaks to everyone as if they are a child who freshly came out of the womb. He needs to get a grip on reality, he acts as if he's a camp councilor but then treats everyone like they're below him. When I was in the middle of talking to two of the other employees, who were very helpful, Zach interrupted our conversation to tell them to switch switch for no apparent reason other than to just boss them around. If you want to build good relationships with your patients maybe you should make sure the guy having direct interaction with your customers isn't a total douche. Never have I visited a business where the owner is such an abrasive rude person. I took my dogs today for their rabies vaccines. Red flag #1 as we get their the owner was taking over from female at desk for check ins and refused to use the metal chair she was using and insisted she bring him a padded chair. Red flag #2 he gave us a lecture about not preregistering online ahead of time. Red flag #3 told me to get my older blind dog to shut up ( his words not to keep my dog quiet, or I am having a problem hearing) Red flag #4 he got upset, and ever more rude and condescending when i told him we only wanted the Rabies vac for all at this visit. He insisted that they should get the whole list of the available vaccines he suggested. I told him that I have done a-lot of research and have had consulted with my vet in what type and how often my dogs should get vaccinated as there is much controversy and the new trend saying less is more as it is becoming known that over vaccination is causing adverse effects on animals health . So my vet and I agreed my older dog with diabetes and hyperthyroid should only get Rabies. The other three would get rabies and provo and distemper. But two weeks between. So all we wanted on this visit was Rabies for all. At this point he informs me with great authority! that he is the owner and his wife is the vet and he had to follow the guidelines from the AAHA and recommended our dogs have the list he had stated. (Remember i said i did my homework and consulted with my vet) In reality I should have left at red flag 2 but i normally try to give people a chance. But at this point i am done and call him on his rudeness and disrespect being unacceptable fir an employee let alone the owner and asked him to just delete all information and we proceeded to leave. He then leaves his desk leaving the others waiting in line to check in, and proceeds to follow us out of store stating he did not want our money anyway and sarcastically wish us a nice day. So i can just assume pushing more shorts = more money and i guess our limited needs were not worth his trouble. If i could give less than one star i would and i would not recommend anyone go there. Hello, I am still disappointed and infuriated that you treat your clients the way you treated me today. First of all, I waited an hour and a half just to put my name down so the vet can assist my dog. After I waited for that long, at 10:30 you tell me that in approximately (more or less), the vet can see my pet in 4 hours. That would be at about 2:30 pm more or less by your rationale. Your policy states that when you call me, I have to be back at your place in 10 minutes. My husband answered your phone call, let you know that we are on our way. My phone records indicate I was 2 minutes late and I answered your phone call in the parking lot in front of your place informing you I am about to walk in, when you told me the vet left and won't see me. You are trying to tell me that the vet walks out on the 10 minute mark. Your wait time estimate was wrong to begin with as you called half an hour sooner, but according to you the vet was out of the building already after 2 minutes (manager Danielle was the one I talked to)?? You were not even polite or caring enough to offer to put me on the list next week so I do not have to wait again over an hour. I am speechless that you treat people like this. You do not care about pets or your clients. You care about your money and your 2 minute strict policy. I was really nervous about taking my Dog, Pancho for his teeth surgery. But they honestly made me feel very comfortable and confident. Pancho had to get 20 teeth removed and be put under anesthesia so I was a nervous reck! Not only did they send me text updates on him they sent me pictures of him as well Dr.C is super sweet and knows what she's doing. Not to mention the low cost services. I paid under $1000 for the whole procedure! Pet Pawz-itive???? Anything but. Pet Pawz-itive is a pet clinic that sets up a few times a week at Theresa's country Feed in Simi Valley and other locations. let me start by saying Theresa's is great. I have been shopping there and at their predecessor Community Feed since 1983 when I moved to Simi Valley. Even though they have changed owners over the years, the customer service and employees are wonderful and I wouldn't shop anywhere else for my dogs' needs. In the past, they have always had shot clinics a few times a week, and it was always convenient to pop in after work and get the pups their shots. No fuss. However, a few years ago, they stopped doing the evening shot clinics and they brought in Pet-Pawzitive, a low cost mobile veterinary service, I suppose you would call it. I have been there in the past for shots. There's a bit of a wait, but no big deal, I know it's first come, first served. so now my dog is due for his shots, and I call Theresa's to find out when the vet people will be there, just for scheduling reasons. Well, they aren't allowed to tell me because pet-pawzitive is a separate business. Wow, that's really inconvenient. They tell me to look up their phone number and call them. So I do, but they never answer their phone. I call Theresa's again because I just want to know what day they are there, and they tell me to text because I might get a better response. I text, but no response. I think I know why Theresa's wants to make it clear that Pet Pawzitive is a separate business. I sent an email, and three days later they respond. THey are at Theresa's on such and such day and such and such time. So great, I knew they are there on Saturday, per their email from 10:00 to 2:00, with a disclaimer, first come, first served, come early if your dog needs to see the vet. Okay. I only need shots, so I go with my pup at 1:30. I go to the back of the store, and there are two tables/receptions, and the first one is empty. I get in line at the second one where two people have already been helped and are waiting in line. The man behind the table motions to a young girl and asks her why didn't she tell me that they are closed. Go tell "her," meaning me. Never mind that I am standing right in front of him. So I go to the second table where the girl is obviously embarrassed and intimidated and she tells me there are no more appointments and they are full. It is now 1:40. I see a note taped to her table that says something like arrive by 1:00 if you want to be seen. Don't you think they could have mentioned that in their email??? I would have come an hour earlier. And remember, I just want shots. I mention that to the young lady who excuses herself and goes to talk to the man. She returns and shakes her head. She looked like she was going to cry, so I just left her alone and asked to speak to the manager of Theresa's. So the manager was very nice and I explained the situation and he was very sympathetic and he gave me a small discount on the dog food i needed. He said he would talk to Zak, who I guess is the manager, but I told him that while I would continue to patronize Theresa's. there was no way I would do business with or entrust my animals to Pet=Pawzitive. I am a little disappointed that Theresa's would let a business run like this operate out of their facility, but I know sometimes business decisions prevail I can't speak to the vet or the techs because i never saw them but I certainly wouldn't go there if my dogs were sick or injured. If they are that rude to me, how would they treat my dogs who can't speak? I am just disgusted. Good vets are hard to come by, but they are out there. This is certainly not one of them. Next time I will just make an appointment at my vet and get the shots there. The convenience factor is no longer there. So lucky to have a place like this around! Awhile back my pup had his rabies shot done here & they were so awesome! He was nervous, so they calmed him down & made the shot quick. They also email you the rabies certificate which is super convenient. Today I showed up around 4:00 to have my pups ear examined. Sadly, they had no more openings left for exams. (I recommend calling ahead to see if they still have openings) but a PetPawzitve employee, Emily (I'm almost positive that was her name) took a quick second to look at my pup and say it's not an emergency & to bring him back Saturday. If she had not done that, I probably would have been a little upset that I made the drive there & didn't get an exam. So thank you SO much!!! I will most definitely be back!!!! Also- the prices here you cannot beat!!! I could tell all employees loves pets & their job. I tell everyone I know who has a dog to come here!!
