My main man Luke post chaos home and safe.

Five stars isn't enough. Yesterday I was already overwhelmed taking care of my daughter, who had a fever, when an already chaotic day got even worse. In the chaos, I accidentally left a bowl of grapes on the couch, and my 25 pound pug, Luke, got to them. When I called Pets First, I didn't get an automated system. I got a real person who immediately told me exactly what to do and had us come straight in. That reassurance alone made a huge difference. When we walked through the door, they greeted us with, "Is this our little grape eater?!" It was the perfect icebreaker. They already knew who we were because they had been expecting us, and somehow that one sentence instantly made me feel like we were in the right place. Dr. Duff and the entire team moved with incredible urgency. Within about 20 minutes, they had induced vomiting and recovered all of the grapes. They immediately started IV fluids, monitored Luke closely, and explained everything in a way that kept me calm through an incredibly stressful situation. By the time we left, Luke's bloodwork was normal, he was alert, and he even ate dinner. I truly believe that because of Dr. Duff and the incredible team at Pets First, we avoided what could have been a devastating outcome. What stood out most wasn't just the medical expertise. It was the kindness. Every person we interacted with made us feel like Luke mattered. They treated him like family and treated me with compassion, confidence, and respect when I needed it most. Thank you, Dr. Duff, and everyone at Pets First. You didn't just take amazing care of my dog. You took care of me too. I'll never forget it.

I brought my cat Samuel in because his eating had been erratic, and he was starting to eat less and less. This had happened in the past for similar reasons (me being out of town) and he went back to normal, so I felt like I just doing my due diligence by getting labs. His labs came back somewhat normal. I left with some appetite stimulating medication and came back the next day because I felt like something wasn't right. I wanted to do the next step which was imaging. I was taken into the room to see Samuel, was able to calm him, while I was provided with news I was not ready to hear. Later, Dr Duff came into the room, and calmly/compassionately told me the worst news I could hear. He was very straightforward about his recommendations while being kind which I appreciated. I got more extensive imaging done that could provide more detail regarding the original findings (which I needed for my peace of mind given his recommendations). He did not try to upsell me. He did not try to sugarcoat the findings. He focused on quality of life and next steps. Though I was in total shock I appreciated his directness, which prepared me for the second imaging I had done. I also appreciated that when my cat appeared a little stressed I could call in and ask questions and be able to communicate with him.

This was the most empathetic veterinary group I've ever had the pleasure of going to. We had to assess our Charlie for quality of life and Dr. Slaton was very sensitive and caring and confirmed our decision to make a difficult choice. In addition, he and his staff made our decision easier. The things that they did were very loving including allowing us time with Charlie and allowing him to have a Hersheys kiss before he passed. We spent some time after he passed and left after they had taken Charlie away. In the days that followed we received flowers and a sympathy card from their office. When we picked up Charlie's remains they were presented in a beautiful box along with a lovely paw print. Slaton veterinary made a very difficult time a thoughtful and caring time. I highly recommend their services.

I am disappointed by this response because it does not address the substance of my review and…read moreinstead seems to frame my concerns as the understandable distress of someone whose dog is facing serious medical problems. That is not what this is about. I have three Golden Retrievers and have had many dogs over the years. I understand that dogs age, become ill, and develop serious medical problems. That is a painful but inevitable part of loving them. I do not blame a veterinarian because my dog is sick. My concern is the care Emma received when I brought her in because she was sick and in pain. I brought her in twice for an unexplained limp and expressed that I believed something was wrong. No X-rays were taken. Imaging performed elsewhere later showed severe destruction of the ulna near her elbow and significant risk of fracture. I also raised concerns about persistent skin inflammation, recurring ear problems, and irritation around her mouth. These issues improved rapidly after she received different treatment from another veterinarian. These are specific concerns about clinical decisions, not expressions of sadness about having an older dog. Saying that you understand how upsetting it is when a beloved companion has serious medical issues does not address them. I also find it difficult to reconcile the statement that the practice would "welcome the opportunity to discuss" my concerns directly with the fact that no one contacted me after my review was posted. Weeks passed, and this public response was the first outreach I received. If anything in my review is factually inaccurate, please identify it. I would also welcome an explanation of how the specific care decisions I described were consistent with the "thoughtful, evidence-based medicine" referenced in your response. Emma being sick is not the complaint. The complaint is what happened when I repeatedly brought a sick and painful dog to this practice for help. Go to Village Veterinary Hospital Dr. Innes is incredible. It's on Hampshire in Westlake Village. Trust me. You're welcome.

They are remarkable communicators, and I love that they do not try to up sell you. They respect your boundaries and financial health, they never try to push or guilt trip you. Best of all, they do not tell you wildly outrageous ideas on what might be the cause of x, y, z. Every time we have met with Dr. Seigal whether it is in person or over the phone, we've always felt he was such a generous, gracious person. We never felt rushed. When I ask his staff a question and they don't know the answer, they are always honest and polite and will tell you they don't know and will proceed to place you on a brief hold so they can get the correct information. The staff has a good attitude and assume that you are a caring owner. When Dr. Siegal says he'll call you or do anything, he always holds his word and he even called us when he was out of town. The facility is extremely clean, the cleanest vet I've ever been to. There are so many reasons why you should consider Dr. Siegal and his team, these are just a few. Plenty of parking in their private shared lot and street parking. Very cute stores, restaurants, and fitness yoga studios nearby so if you are coming from further away and need to leave your pet for a few hours you can totally patronize some of the other local businesses. Overall 10/10 experience. I'm glad we took a chance on this vet. To be fair we had exhausted many of the other highly rated vets in the San Fernando valley area and none of them cut it. Are you paying a little more to see the doctor here and get the tests and other services? Yes, probably a little more. However, for me personally, it's completely justified because of the integrity and seamless experiences we've had. Lastly, every single time we have gone in for our appointment, we haven't had to wait longer than 5 minutes. Also they are always giving you a warm greeting which I literally cannot say about any of the other vets. Last little detail, but really there's no detail too small, I have not seen any of the staff doom scroll or look checked out. When they are on the clock, they appear to be working and they seem dedicated. Little things like that have a major impact on professionalism and trust. If I see anyone on the clock doom scrolling or just super engaged on their cell phone it is 100% a red flag and a sign that they don't care, aka my sign to leave a business and not return. I want to spend my hard earned money on places that are invested and care. Dr. Siegal and his staff seem happy and I believe a happy staff is a more efficient staff. It is a safe space, you can openly share your concerns, wants and needs- they are listening with open hearts and they genuinely care. Sadly I've been to probably more than eight different vets and none of them have even come close to Dr. Siegal. Because of those awful experiences, I was starting to lose hope. But I knew from our first phone call with Dr. Siegal's office, when I was literally picking their brain and asking 20+ questions and complaining about past experiences, I knew they were the one because they never made me feel rushed, I never felt judged, I never felt unappreciated and I felt they were truly listening and caring. Anyways, I'm just extremely grateful for Dr.Siegal and his staff.

I took my 15-year, 8-month-old dog "Champ" to the clinic for a rabies antibody (titer) test required for international travel. Dr. Kiumarsi knew my dog's age and medical history, yet no one explained that, because of his advanced age, there was a possibility his antibody level might be too low to pass the test or discussed giving him a rabies booster before performing the expensive titer test. I paid nearly $600 for the test, and the result came back negative. Only afterward was I told to bring my dog back for a rabies booster, wait another month, and then pay for a second titer test. This delayed my travel plans to Turkey by almost four weeks and increased my expenses. My frustration is not that the test was negative--it is that I was never informed beforehand about the risk of a failed result or the option of administering a booster first. Had I been given that information, I could have made an informed decision and potentially avoided unnecessary cost and delay. I expected honest guidance and recommendations that considered both my dog's wellbeing and my time and financial investment. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Townsgate Pet Hospital. They examined her, treated the wound, prescribed medication, and even trimmed her nails at our request. We were back in the car in about two hours. The total cost for the exam, treatment, prescriptions, and nail trim came to just under $500, which we felt was very reasonable for emergency care.
