Our family boarded our dog here while we were out of town. When we picked him up, we were told he had developed what was described as a "hot spot." After becoming concerned about his condition, we took him to our veterinarian, who determined that his injuries were consistent with head trauma and that he required medical treatment. As pet owners, this was heartbreaking and completely unexpected. We entrusted our loving addition to their care believing he would be safe, and we left with more questions than answers about how such a serious injury could have occurred. While their contract states they are not responsible for injuries sustained while pets are in their care, that disclaimer did little to ease our concerns or address what happened to our dog. Every pet owner has to make their own decision, but based on our experience, I encourage others to ask detailed questions about supervision, incident reporting, and what procedures are followed if a pet is injured while boarding. Disappointed and angry! My dog is 4 and half years old and has been going to Pet Set for 4 years. Boarding and day care. He loved it and the staff there! Something with their care has shifted. My dog usually gets excited when I pull up to the building. But this time was different. I had to pull him out the car to go into the building. When we got inside he wasn't excited like usual to in the back, the staff actually picked him up to carry him to the back. He is 33lbs. He was terrified but I didn't know that then. You see the last time he was boarded he came home with what the said was a "hot spot ". I asked how did he get a hot spot on the top of his head. I was told he came in with a hot spot, we do body checks when they first come in. I do body checks constantly myself and know he didn't come in like that. Now yesterday my husband picked him up from a 4 day stay and again he has an " hot spot " but this time it looked worse than before, we took him to the vet they said it looks like trauma to his head. Two swollen lumps on the top of his head, antibiotics for 10 days and he had to wear a cone. He has not been himself since coming home. We are outraged, upset, hurt and sad that we let him down. I boarded my two dogs here for five days and provided separate food for each dog, since they eat different types. When I picked them up, one of my dogs looked like he had lost weight. When I checked the food I brought, only one bag was used and the other was returned untouched. When I called to ask, I was told both dogs were fed the same food--despite me clearly explaining and providing separate food for each. This is very concerning. I paid for my dogs to be properly cared for, and that did not happen. If there was any confusion, someone should have contacted me. Overall, this experience felt unprofessional and negligent. My dogs love this place. I have 2 yorkies (Romeo & Monie). My dogs stay at Pet Set at least 5 to 6 times a year. As soon as we pull into the parking lot they start whining and shaking their tails with joy. This gives me comfort in knowing that they are treated well. He has bruises all over, like he's been skinned, and he can't even sit because they shaved his testicles raw. I should have read the reviews and taken them seriously. Omgosh! Did they give my doggie a birthday party? Indeed they did on July 31st. Okay, here's a little back story, my dog, Max and I relocated to the Douglasville, GA area a year ago. One day, after leaving another pet location I was in search of a place to groom Max and a play date. I drove past Pet Set Stay and Play after I noticed two big animal balloons in front of the store. I quickly turned around and walked inside to inquire about pet services. I was greeted by Jannie, who graciously stated Max could be groomed that day and they would call me for a pickup time. I ran my errands and returned to see my favorite friend wagging his tail in delight! From that day on we became quick friends, while Max continues to enjoy his fabulous groom days, daycare, and boarding with his doggy friends. At the end of July, Max's enjoyed his 4th Birthday with a spectacular party planned with his buddies from daycare, and staff members attending the celebration. I love the grooming service they provide to my dog. They groom her just like I request. 9.3/10 and I do recommend.

The worst. I've never seen such a mess in my life. The owner claims she's been groomer for 15 years but I can't tell. My pet came back with a huge gash in his back fur and no one knows how it got there. But the owner is the one that did the grooming. When you have to send your pet back a second time something is not right. When I confronted her about the gash, she tried to come up with every excuse in the book including it was already there. We were recommended this place and imextremely disappointed and pissed. I had my dog there for boarding for 5.5 days. He went in there fine no scara or rashes. I picked him up todayand he had not gotten his shower. Then i said that i would wait for them to shower him. They brought him to me still wet and he stunk. They said he was giving them a hard time coming out of the cage and during the bath which he never does. They bring him to my car and i see a huge rash around his body. I am so happy I was warded off from this "establishment." This disgrace of a grooming facility shouldn't be allowed to have their doors open to public. If you'd like to get your pet's nails trimmed, please be aware that they will cut 90% of the nails to tissue. Your pet will bleed and be in the most uncomfortable condition for days if you get their nails "trimmed" here. If you'd like a little hair trim, please don't especially if you have a cat or any animal with whiskers for that matter. You'll just end up confused as to why the WHISKERS are trimmed/pulled out???? yeah. Not a great grooming experience. If you do bring your animal and they do show you that they are the absolute worst at their job (which they will), please don't bother management. They'll just get upset that you're even speaking to them, call you crazy/erratic/insane/etc. then proceed to hang up on you. Tip for management: get your employees in line so you don't have to be brought into anything. Tip for employees: Learn how to groom animals properly, I seriously can't believe you guys have to even be told that. read more

I took my Great pyrenees in for a grooming specifically told the guy not to shave her. Over and over not to shave her. I went back 3hours later to pick her up she wasn't ready the lady upfront said he was having trouble doing her nails. I then told her that it takes two people to do her nail. When I pick her up 30 mine later she was limping I figured it was from being in the grooming harness for 3 1/5hours as we got home she laid down and hasn't been able to stand on her own since. I've been bringing my 2 4 lb Tcup Yorkies to PetSet and Dixie for 7 years. Always pleased with her grooming and her love for the dogs in her care. She recently moved to Hwy 5 and she semi retired. Her kids started running the business and that's when the caring and standards began to go downhill. The quality of the grooming started to become an issue. Just because you can handle scissors doesn't make you a groomer. 2 months in a row, my dog 11 year old baby was there for over 8 hours and I had to call to see if she was ready. No food, no water. The last time I called to see if she was ready I was told they had been trying to call me for hours. Really? I have a new iPhone 13 pro max. It never registered any calls from them. I have a very hyper puppy and I'm very aware of this. I'm sure it's quite difficult to groom her. However the job was meh.. I was asked what I wanted and I told them cut her hair very low for low maintenance. They didn't ask about her head whatsoever so I assumed they understood I meant her head hair needs to be low as well. Her body hair was low but her face was still quite long. Also, they said they couldn't file (grind) her nails because she was too hyper so opted to clip them. Like I said- I know she's very hyper. I'm sure she was in there acting a fool. But my groomer before moving here had it on lock. Every time I took her there they filed her nails. Overall, it was an ok job but I won't be returning because the nails being ground were my main concern but also there wasn't enough attention to detail with my baby's cut. read more

My dog is 8 yrs old and has been boarded many times and not once has she come home with a urine soaked bed ( an $80 bed at that). I know she would NEVER pee her bed unless she absolutely had to. She was supposed to get a bath but feels dirty. She's very upset and seems traumatized. I don't know what kind of facility you are running but you shouldn't be taking care of people's pets. You SHOULD reimburse me for my dogs bed if you have any integrity at all. I'm trying to wash it now. It's a little hard to wash a 5 inch memory foam pad. I have been a customer for years.I love how Janie cares for my dog Jessie.However, today I was exposed to the rudest young lady working at the front desk.I called to find out if my dog was ready.I brought her in @9:00am and it was now 2:00pm. When i walked up to the desk she was in conversation on the phone.She never acknowledged my presence.I stood there for ten minutes until my driver was getting out of the Lyft ..I then said "Can you at least acknowledge that I'm standing here ..she completely ignored me and went into another room! Last week I set an appointment for my puppy, Knight, scheduled for February 13th at 2:00 p.m. Last night on February 12th at 7:41 p.m., I received a confirmation text from Pet Set Grooming stating that I had an appointment for February 13th at 1:00 p.m. I called Pet Set Grooming and spoke with the owner, Ms. Jannie Pophan, to ask if there was a mistake because I was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. She then told me, "It must have been a mistake because we do not schedule for after 1 o'clock". I then went on to tell her that someone told me that I could bring him in at 2 o'clock, and that I even inquired about 2:30 before ultimately deciding on 2 o'clock. She began to talk over me and tell me that "I can just bring him in, but that they do not make appointments past 1 o'clock. I further tried to explain that I was unaware of this because I was not informed and she continued to talk over me, refusing to hear what I had to say and then telling me that I didn't need to get so upset when my tone changed, because they would still see Knight. There was no apology for the miscommunication between her and her staff members as I was never informed about their policy. I am guessing because she does not believe that I was not informed. When I arrived at Pet Set Grooming, I asked to speak to the owner, Ms. Jannie Pophan, and she went on to tell me that "I'm getting so upset and not listening", although I had already heard her out multiple times. I was only trying to get her to understand that their communication was not clear. I told her that I had no reason to lie about not being informed of the policy to which she replied "I have no reason to not inform everyone of the policy". Ms. Pophan is not even sure that she is the person who booked my appointment, but she insists that she informed me about the policy. With a customer service business, I would like to think that it is important to hear your customers out. Knight has been to Pet Set Grooming before and there were no issues. I was very pleased with the entire visit and had no reason to be hostile with anyone in their establishment. I was genuinely curious about whether or not it was a mistake that it said 1:00 p.m., and I was looking for an apology from the owner, who is responsible for the establishment, on behalf of someone still scheduling me for 2:00 p.m. I am not in control of their miscommunication and not at fault for their scheduling my appointment for 2:00 p.m. over the phone. Ms. Pophan was not empathetic at all, and did not seem to consider the fact that someone else may have forgotten to tell me this, because I was even told that 2:30 would be fine before informing them that he would need a haircut, which is when I was told that they would not be able to cut him if he came in at 2:30. This is when I said that I would come at 2:00. It would be silly for me to lie and argue about a false appointment, but I guess that is how Ms. Pophan viewed me. This was a big misunderstanding that could have been easily cleared up with an apology, especially considering the fact that they do not keep a log of who books each appointment. I was not accusing Ms. Pophan herself, only telling her that I was not given that information. Sad to see the way she handled the situation. read more

Long time customer who is very disappointed - we take all our dogs for years. Back when Dixie was in a small shop on Douglas Blvd and then on Hwy 5 and now to this location. Unfortunately they have attempted to grow to where they no longer care about their customers. I normally take 3 dogs in and this time I separated them and had 1 done the week before and 2 this past week. I always get the whole package grooming, bath, nails, etc - this time I left my dogs and got the call they were ready, got there and went to pay and I knew the total wasn't right, it was t enough- she said they bathed them and did their nails. I said I told you I wanted everything just like I always get - oh sorry well we can't groom them today unless you want to pick them up at 7, which would mean my dogs would be in a crate for hours more. I have been using this place for years with no issues whatsoever. Until my last visit a few months ago. I made an appointment for 10:00 on a Saturday for bath, nails and ears only. Dropped my dog off on time. At 2:00 I still had not heard from them so I called. The young lady said my dog was next. At 3:30 I called again and was told they finishing up. I go to pick him up. I ask the young lady why it took so long for them to get to him and she said they were "short staffed". It would have been nice to be told upfront when I dropped him off. I Pay AND tipped. She brought my dog out and said "oh by the way, he just wasn't having his back nails trimmed". You tell me this AFTER I paid? He was there for 5 1/2 hours and you couldn't manage to get his back nails trimmed? I don't know what happened while he was there but he was very nervous and anxious when I picked him up. The first time I brought my 2 big dogs, I walked in it was smelling pretty good with wet dog of course its going to smell like that because they wash dogs and groom them. i walked them in the back to the kennel I looked in the kennel it was cleaned smiled like bleach. I talk to Mr. Kim to make sure they will be in good in hands. When i came back to pick them up they were cleaned and looking nice .Mr.kim was very good with my dogs. couple weeks ago I brought them back, to go on vacation i walked in it smelt awful. while waiting for the lady at the front desk it was a old lady with 2 small dogs. One of the employee's was arguing with her about the dogs wasn't groomed right, when the employee walked off the old lady showed me her dogs one of them had knots in his hair , both of her dogs weren't groomed. They didn't give her money back. when i finally checked them in i wanted to walk them in their kennels the lady at the front desk she was about to take them i told her that i wanted to walk them in the back to their kennels. I walked back their it smelled disgusting and it looked like they weren't cleaning the kennels because of the smell of piss and sh!!. before i left them i left their food , food bowels. I know what you guys are thinking i had to leave the same day i didn't have time to find other place. I thought they were just having a bad day. its going to get better when i come back. when i came back to pick them up after 7 days the smell in that place was even worse. I went to the same lady that was at the front desk when i checked them in she seem very nervous. she went in the back and brought them out. Mind you before I brought my dogs in they have not had a wash for a month. So when they came out i looked at my dogs they weren't groomed. When I put them in the car came back to tell them they didn't groomed them they gave me the money back. I told them they did not give me my dog bowels . So,they went in the back for awhile came back out told me they losted the bowels my dogs names were on the bowels. Mind you this happen the first time but wasn't really worried because my dogs were in good hands. when i got in the car they were smelling so bad! i had the windows down. Boarded our two pups over the weekend. I didn't have a good feeling when I left them. My husband said they will be fine. dropped them off on Friday and picked them up Monday. When we arrived to pick them they were both wet and we asked why are they wet? Is it pee and Heather said maybe let me get them washed off. so you knew they had pee on them and you weren't going to say anything. The gentle put our bag and doggie back on the counter quickly and said here is your stuff and walked away. Once I grabbed everything and walked to the car I noticed my pups bed had pee and poop all over it. I sent it there clean the way its always kept because they are fully housed trained. Heather just happened to be outside and I asked her. Did they pee and poop on their sleeping area all weekend. She said umm No, I opened up the bed and said well there is pee and poop all over the bed. She then stated oh yeah this morning they did because I didn't make it to them in time. She them offered to wash it. I was not waiting for that. If you knew it was soiled because you had them waiting. It should have been washed by the time we arrived.
