Stopped in here with our pup for a break from our drive from Jacksonville. They have a nice water bowl up front for your pups, and some hand sanitizer for the humans. Staff was wearing masks, and very friendly and helpful. We walked around and took a look at some of their kitties for adoption. Moose was very interested in the birds and the way they hopped around their cages. Teen wanted to look at all the snakes - no thank you! Not my favorite. We let Moose pick out a treat from the many displayed up front. We all laughed at how they put them at dog nose level so it's hard for the dog parent to resist when their pup picks up their own. We were looking for some booties, but they didn't have any in stock. They gave Moose several treats while we were there, and he appreciated it greatly. I went this pet store today after driving 45 minutes because I was so excited to find a leopard gecko for my 5 year old. We originally found a bigger one today at this stor, but it turned out to be a male and we specifically wanted a female. The manager Jaylin was extremely helpful and told us there was also a surrendered leopard gecko that had been brought in two days ago. I asked how much it was and she explained that it didn't have a set price and that all she asked was that we buy two items in the store. I agreed, and since I had already purchased most of the supplies earlier that week , I asked if buying just food would be okay and she said yes. While we were trying to confirm the gender we weren't sure at first, but then I noticed it looked like a female. I asked if we could double check so Jaylin brought over the general manager. When he came over his attitude felt completely different. He also said he thought it was a female but he seemed more focused on making money than on finding the surrendered gecko a good home, unlike Jaylin who was genuinely trying to help. I was told certain items came with the gecko but then he began asking other employees what actually came with it and started removing things including the light. He then told me I needed to spend a flat forty dollars in the store. As this is a smaller store they didn't have much to select from. That didn't seem right to me especially because I called multiple Pet Supermarkets afterwards and they told me that surrendered animals are normally given for free unless they have been cared for for a long time which was not the case here since it had only been two days. The entire interaction made it feel like the general manager was more concerned with making a profit than making sure the surrendered gecko went to a loving home. The original owner surrendered it for free trusting that it would go to a good family not be used as a way to upsell customers. read more

I love this Pet Supermarket! Today I came prepared with my 10% off coupon, played with the adorable orange kitten that the kind-hearted associate himself intended to adopt, and filled my cart with all cat related necessities. After checking out with the cashier, a nearby associate suggested a crystal based litter that he uses. He took the time to show me the litter, explain the benefits and even answer my questions about it. This associate was so helpful and I've always had a good experience each time I visit this Pet Supermarket. 5 stars for this location indeed! read more

Large location with plenty of space to shop around for your pet or a new one! I came here specifically after a person recommended to stop by for a puppy cake - yes, I am that person. Unfortunately the bone cakes were all broken and the staff did apologize quickly and offered one at half price for the inconvenience. They also have plenty of other doggy bakery treats in a case that you serve yourself from. I hadn't been inside this store until this last visit. I was impressed by how many toys they carried and how different they were in comparison to a chain animal store. The prices are comparable as well. I picked up a few random toys. They also had a clearance section that was easy to access to the right, as soon as you walk in the store. The store also has everything set up by animal which makes it easier to find the item you are looking for when visiting. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was impressed with how attentive they actually were without being annoying. There was an issue with a price and they were quick to figure it out and fix it. The store is on Dale Mabry in a shopping center and has plenty of parking. They do allow pets inside as well so feel free to bring your pet! read more

Guy named kev was very rude and not helpful at all I came in right before closing for a dozen large crickets and while their wasn't many left he told me he couldn't sell me any and that he only had sm and their were more smalls then large crickets at a least dozen if not more and he still wouldn't sell me any after telling me they were getting a truck in the morning I insisted and even asked if I could get 6 and nothing never coming back here again. read more

Not as fancy as some pet stores, but the prices are super fair! We stopped by Pet Supermarket after shopping for dog toys at another store and we found the prices were much better here. Most of the toys were at least $1 cheaper and the store informed us they match prices (if you bring in the ad) and they also take their competitors coupons. The selection is HUGE and the staff is really nice. Will return to Pet Supermarket next time I am in need of doggy toys or treats! read more

Pet Supermarket is great- I enjoy coming here to get my pet supplies. Its always cool, clean, and with friendly service. The Pet Supermarket stores are a little smaller than some of the competitors stores but I find that appealing. They still have a good selection and stay well stocked. And the stores feel cleaner and cooler than the bigger stores! You can bring your pets in with you! Compared to the one on Fowler, it's huge. For the South Tampa side, it's a good pet store, with a large selection that should keep you from driving to the one next to the strip clubs or all the way down to Westshore. It has a lot of stuff, but there is no meat flavored tooth paste, however. Tehy do have a very vocal bird that says "Hi". The staff is pretty good about feeding it strawberries to pipe it down. Just a note of pride, I found out what my dog is while browsing around: Charlee Bear = Wheaten Terrier + Portuguese Water Dog. read more

Just a typical pet store. Nothing special to offer. In fact I found many of the items more than double what a normal pet store charges. I had to laugh when I saw them trying to pass a crawfish off as a Blue Lobster. My Blue Lobster is about the size of a crawfish but is BLUE. I paid about $7.00 for min but they were asking $29.99 for this brown crawfish. My local pet store has crawfish for $2.99. Would I recommend or return? Um, methinks not. read more

Last week I went into this store to buy a plant for my healthy aquarium. Yesterday, my fish got ick, after three years of parasite-free living. I read up on the causes of ick, and I saw that introducing the plants with ick into an aquarium is a cause, and it's recommend to quarantine a plant before introducing it to your tank. The employee should have instructed me as such, but she didn't. I went back to the store today and told the sales rep my story about the plant and the ick, and suggested that they tell their customers to quarantine the plants in the future. She said she'd tell her manager and dismissed it at that. Good customer service at this point, would be to walk me to the section of fish medications or say "I'm sorry about your fish" , or possibly "here have this ick medication on us." But she walked away, and I walked out the door. I thought about it, and I went back in. The gentleman that I spoke to next was completely unsympathetic, and denied the possibility that the ick could've come from their tanks. His response was "My fish tanks DO NOT have ick."
