Reviewing only the grooming section which I was kind of surprised because their grooming station was more high-tech than the other stores. There is a 20-minute timer on there but everything is digital. Unfortunately there were three stations but one was out of order so it might take a little bit longer. Unsure of the ETA of getting the other one repaired. But if I was in the neighborhood I would come back here; clearly you can see my puppy was not excited about the situation that she was in. I was amazed at how helpful. The lady was in the store and I don't remember her name. I really wish I did. I got a new puppy and she's four months old but she's huge because she's a Burmese mountain dog. She loves to interact with other people and other puppies but she's huge and she likes to jump on people. She's still in training for that. Anyhow, I went into the store and the cashier asked if she could help me. She did she took me and got me exactly what I what I needed a ball of frisbee and a harness and the prices were very reasonable. The lady was accommodating and very polite and she absolutely loved our puppy. Our puppy played with another little puppy for a short amount of time and then we were out of the store. I came to this store to buy cat food and treats. My two cats had a birthday, so I was emailed a $5 coupon off and it expires next week. I purchased some interesting products plus food and treats. I got to the checkout. They started loading my purchases into a plastic bag without asking. I don't use plastic. I asked if they could just use one bag instead of two. The woman bagging threw the second bag over her shoulder (I suppose to let me know how outrageous this request was). Then, the total came up - $55+. I went to show them my coupon, I had taken a photo of it from the email I received. They would not accept it. I've always had my email coupons accepted in the past. NO! Not this time! I asked when the policy changed and they said NO ONE accepts photos of coupons. Well, that isn't true - Busch's accepts mine every week. I do email on my lap top and I don't have a printer. How am I supposed to use a coupon in that case? I asked them: Do you think I ran next door and took a photo of *their* email? Do you think their dog or cat has the same birthday as my two cats? "You never know" was the answer. Let me tell you that I am NEVER going back to this store. The people that work there were beyond rude to me. This reviews for the past 30 years of service. The store owner has sold out it has become corporate this week very sad. They always knew who you were and your pets ! we trying to make sure they could order and keep in stock what you needed. They were able to offer a discount to rescue groups because they were a franchise and not corporate. They for many years allowed cats cradle to show cats and kittens on a Sunday for adoption from foster homes to your home. Annette April Michelle and Cheryl were like extended family to all of our pets. Along with her awesome staff that was always very friendly and helpful. Well for the future they want to remodel the store so it looks different. I guess we'll try it out again hopefully they'll keep a staff that will be as dedicated and friendly as this group for decades. Also, Being a local on store they had Gurdy birdie that would Fly over and ride around on the customers shoulder while you shopped and then go back to their cage. That went on for at least a decade. And then Mr. dove was living for well over 30 years and had the loudest cuckoo sound and I swear that bird recognize customers. Ordered curbside to her home and find that the inflatable collar was in a mangled box that had clearly been returned. Of course the was broken. It should have never been sold in this condition. They deliver so I called to see if they could deliver a new one but was told I had to go into the store to take care of it. Will be switching to a new pet store. read more

I've been to many pet stores in my area and I really do not know what people are smoking when they give a store like Pet Supplies Plus more then 3 stars. Well I've only ever been to the Novi location so I guess maybe the reason everyone else loves the chain is because They too have never visited the Novi location. I visit the Novi Pet Supplies Plus about Twice a Month for essentially One reason... They carry pretty much every Cat Food there is on the planet without having to hunt all over kingdom come for it. If I try to visit a PetSmart or a PetCo I am forced to walk through 150 acres of Dog, Bird, Rabbit, & Ferret crap before I get to the back 3 aisles of CAT stuff. While PetSmart & PetCo also sell every Cat Food known to Man there is such an overwhelming amount of it that you will literally be lost for 12 days straight before you realize you are still in the Organic Cat Food section. At least with Pet Supplies Plus the Cat Food - Dry / Canned is along one basic aisle. However its annoyingly mixed in with the Cat Litter and other Cat Toiletries. I have 2 cats who are finicky as hell as to what they eat. After 3+yrs I finally found something that's nutritious for Cats, and that my Cats always seem to eat without issue. Purina Healthful Life. I used to be able to buy the 6pound bag for about $8 at any Wallymart. One day without notice, every Wallymart on the planet stopped carrying the 6pound bags of Purina Healthful Life. Then the next day every Wallymart on the planet stopped carrying the 3pound bags. I was forced to go looking around again. Well since the Novi Pet Supplies Plus is in the same strip mall as my favorite Aco and my favorite Bakery and my favorite Credit Union, I decided to walk in and see if they carried Purina Healthful Life. Awesome! WTF? Ugh... sigh. That's the 4 stages of shopping at Pet Supplies Plus. Awesome - Wow they sell the product I need/want! WTF - they are $1.50 MORE than anywhere else that sells it. Ugh... - I'm already here and my Cats will claw my face off if I don't come home with a bag. Sigh - oh alright, here is $9.50 for a bag of Cat Food. As for anything else you might need for your pet? Well Pet Supplies Plus probably sells it. But I don't really give a flying fart. As long as I can buy the Dry Cat food my Cats love then thats All I will be buying there. One word of Caution... If you like the Number of Pets you already have at home... DO NOT VISIT PET SUPPLIES PLUS On the WEEKEND... PUPPY ADOPTION on Saturday and KITTEN/CAT ADOPTION On Sundays, you WILL Come home with 3 Kittens at least if you are not careful. Pet Supplies Plus in Novi packs a surprising amount of merchandise within a relatively small space. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, they carry just about every cat and dog food known to mankind. They also have a decent selection of toys, although not nearly as comprehensive as PetSmart. read more

I have been shopping at this store for 10+ years and I like this store because they have a great selection of Fancy Feast canned food and Temptation treats, plus all the cat food is right there when I walk in so it is great. They are the worst and do not care. Here is my experience with (store and corporate) from a Black Friday order.. I placed an order for two bags of dog food which I made payment and received confirmation. When I received notice to pick up the order I had gone to the store to do so and noticed there was only one bag. I inquired where the other bag was and the employee indicated that is all they had in stock. He said the other bag would come off of my credit card that was charged. I mention that I prefer to pick up the other bag when it comes in at the Black Friday price. He said sure and made a note to leave with the manager. The following day I received an email indicating that the bag I picked up was charged at full retail price. I called the store and the manager, April, said there's nothing she can do for coupons or digital orders. I then called corporate who said she will SEE if she could have the store provide the Black Friday price on the bag I picked up, however there's nothing they can do about the second bag. So I have been charged the original Black Friday price for two bags plus the the bag I picked up for some reason is now charged at the full retail price. It is a shady operation and have no care for the customer and not right a wrong. Will never do business with them again read more

I have no idea where these bad reviews are coming from. I've been shopping at this store since it opened a few decades ago, and have had nothing but good experiences there except for things out of their control such as a recall on my dog's favorite food. And even then, they showed me similar products so I didn't have to read all the labels and guess for myself. It's an older store in an older building in a 35 year old strip mall, meaning the aisles may not be as wide and the lights may not be as bright, but everything's there, it's clean, and if you can't find what your pet needs, the staff is more than happy to assist. Speaking of the people. Many of them are high-school age. Hey, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm willing to forgive a little customer experience to get them off to a great start in the working world. As for pricing, sure it can be a bit higher than some other places. But I don't go to big box stores unless I absolutely have to. And let's face it, they can buy in bulk and get bigger discounts from the manufacturer meaning they can have lower prices. My only annoyance with the rewards program is that PSP stores may be franchises, and the non-corporate stores don't seem to get the same level of service from headquarters, meaning some things that work in one PSP don't necessarily work in another, including ease of finding and using my rewards card number. If you want to be a snob, go to a pet boutique. If you want cheap, cookie-cutter services and selection, buy big box. If you want to support the neighborhood and reliably get what you need, come here. read more

Just an awful store to frequent when there are so many other choices for customers. Over a year ago, my Doberman, then still in puppy stage, was excited to be in the store and was barking a lot. A small consortium of people consisting of at least one store clerk and one customer were gathered by the registers staring at me as I perused the aisles; discussing in low tones their disgust at me, the surely irresponsible dog owner with my unruly beast from hell that is frightening the little Yorkie being clutched in the arms of the customer. Then, a worker/manager comes up and tells me I will have to remove my dog from the store. Yes, he was barking more than the next dog and yes, I get it, Dobermans are big, scary looking dogs but he honestly wasn't doing anything other than being very loud. I was in disbelief, but I had this gang literally staring me down like I was some shameful criminal for even thinking of bringing in such a demon, so I left. The sign on the door SHOULD read " ---Pets* Welcome --------- * Under 25 lbs and mute." Obviously the place was unfriendly and I found it quite dirty (yuk, especially around the fish area -smelly, dingy with feeder crickets jumping all over the floor, Also I saw that little "frightened" dog pee on a stack of dog food bags. At least my big scary dog isn't destroying property!). Good riddance I told myself after being essentially ridiculed and run out of the store. Fast forward to today. Against my better judgement I went to back into Novi's Pet Supplies Plus to get this one particular food I hoped would help with a stool issue. It's a food unfortunately not found at PetsMart, the place who happily has welcomed my dog and gotten to know him over the past year. Pet Supply Plus did tidy up the place a bit; I'll give them credit for that. My dog ended up not liking the new food, so when I went back to return it to Pet Supply Plus, they wouldn't take it back because they said they only return certain foods. Huh? How am I supposed to know which ones when I am searching to switch to a new food?! They said when I was shopping I should've looked way down to the tiny print at the bottom bags to see if it has "100% Guaranteed" written on it. Gimmee a break. I went home and called a different Pets Supplies Plus to confirm this return policy; they said if I have the original container and the receipt there should be no problem and that they'd happily take my return there. That is nice of that store, but I got to drive 15 miles away to return this food to that location?!? Gee, and the Pets Supplies Plus website states at the top, "PET SUPPLIES PLUS, minus the hassle." Uh, I think not. There is big hassle if you enter with your scary looking dog or even purchase something at this horrible Novi location. Just go elsewhere! read more

About 4 weeks ago my daughter and I purchased a beautiful yellow goldfish from this store, this was her very first fish and was extremely excited. When we arrived home, after further review of our new little pet we noticed that she had red dots on her belly near her fin. I looked online and called The Fish Doctor and they told me that the fish was sick and would need medication. I drove to the Fish Doctor and showed him the pictures we had taken and he said besides being sick that the fishes fins had been eaten by another fish in the tank. After talking with him, we realized that trying to nurse the fish back to health would cost us 4 times the amount we paid for her. So, my daughter and I took the fish back to Pet Supplies Plus (Ten Mile in Novi) and returned the fish. No apology was given for selling us a sick fish in the first place. So, today (over a month since we returned the fish) I go to Pet Supplies Plus to purchase dog food. I decided to take a stroll to the fish tanks and guess what I see? The yellow goldfish we had returned floating in the tank with all its top and tail fins eaten! How terribly irresponsible of them to put not only a sick fish back into the same tank but to put it into a tank that had aggressive fish in it. When I brought it to the attention of the girl at the counter, she completely ignored me. I do not recommend anyone giving this Pet Supplies Plus business. If they don't know how to care properly for fish, they shouldn't have them! read more

There are plenty of pet stores in this area - but we go here for a few simple reasons. One, we like to support locally owned businesses. Two, their prices for dog and cat food - at least the ones that we use - are lower than some of the "big box" places. Three - coupons are frequent and for the products we use. However, we were VERY disappointed when the "buy nine get one free" promotion was discontinued. That was actually the primary reason we started going there. The other down side is that they will not permit coupons unless they are printed out. So, if you use your smartphone to check your email and hope you can get a discount that way - forget it. But that brings me to my 4th reason we shop there -customer service. Someone is always available if you need help finding a product, recommending a product, or even carrying the product to your car. Or, if you have a coupon that you can't use - because it's on your phone - mention it to the manager and you just may get that discount anyway. It's a great store, with a great selection, and a great staff. read more
