Pet Wants is now open in Middletown alongside other shops, restaurants, and plenty of parking. I enjoyed scanning the shelves for their selection of items. The smaller store made it less overwhelming to consider a product for purchase. Dry dog and cat food are available by the pound and they offer a free 1/2 lb to treat your pet and get their opinion. If your fur babies prefer wet food, that's available as well. Alongside the toys, shampoos, and other accessories are two tables of dog treats. More options than I've seen before! We visited on Wednesday's "yappy hour" and received 15% off. My dalmatians were ecstatic with their sticks and gobbled them up. If your dog appreciates frozen treats and pop cups, the store carries a small freezer section. At the counter you'll find themed cookies and if you're celebrating a birthday, you can find decorations for the festivities. Service was helpful and friendly. We signed up for the rewards program at the register. I'm planning to return for more treats and will be encouraging my brother to bring his dog in for a visit. read more

After eating at a nearby establishment, we stopped in to Pet Wants. This was a new-to-us pet shop and oh my goodness, what a delight! Whatever one needs or wants to care for (or spoil!) their pets can be found in this shop. I could not believe the amount and variety of items that was so artfully arranged in the small shop. They sell their own brand of dog/cat food that is sold by the pound. I learned that their food is free of animal byproducts, corn, soy, wheat, sugar, and artificial colors. In addition to their food, there is BROAD selection of dog treats. You can also find shampoos, supplements (e.g., joint preparations, calming aids), flea & tick products, toys, and much more. My wife and I concluded our Shelbyville Rd Tour in Middletown, KY with a stop at Dog Wants. I was impressed that one could purchase dry dog/cat food by the pound with a free 1/2 lb sample to get your pet's opinion. Our Shorkie Jax eats anything, but his sister Jill is the picky one. It would be an interesting test though. There are treats, toys, apparel, shampoos, and even decorations for special events. Wednesdays features 'yappy hour' with 15% off selected purchases. I absolutely LOVE Pet Wants' kibble! It's a quality product without all the junk that too many other dog foods contain. My pup has had tummy issues since he was a couple months old. I tried many, many foods in many, many formulations. I tried adding products to help. Nothing ever got him to a point that seemed ideal. Until I tried Pet Wants' dog food. I met Lindsey a couple times over the past week at various events, Dogtoberfest at Great Flood and Belknap Festival. She's been so kind to Maisy and answered all my questions. I took Maisy into the shop today to pick up dog food and a treat. Maisy was super anxious while in the shop but she loves her new elk antler! I actually went into Pet Wants to visit a pop-up store of one of my favorite, human treats - Froggy's Popcorn. She didn't have the flavor I wanted, unfortunately, but all get thanks are amazing! Since it was pouring rain outside and it being the holidays, I decided to browse around for my fur baby's stocking. I asked the store owner, Lindsay, about cat treats (most of inventory is canine focused). Lindsay pointed me to the kitty corner and I perused their small but well-curated selection. I asked about a few specialty items for my picky feline and she offered me a sample of their house-made cat food. And by sample, I mean like 1/4 lb! The owner was so kind and thoughtful. She asked about my cat's preferences, current diet, etc. We discussed how I'd love to find a healthy, local alternative to her food that I've got to identify in bulk off the Internet & have delivered. I'm looking forward to seeing if my kitty will eat Lindsay's chow. Even if she doesn't eat it, I'll send other pet owners over to Pet Wants cause Lindsay's the best and her shop has so many fun & healthy options for four- legged family members! read more

I stumbled upon this establishment at a Flea Off Market. They are a local establishment where they are promoting fresh and healthy lifestyles for your cats and dogs... they also had a sign that read, "free samples" which helped in interest. The folks running this place are super nice and helpful in finding the right food for your fur baby. As a mom of two (Lucy, the dog and Fiona, the cat) finding healthy and affordable options for food is always tough. Feeders has great choices, but my wallet doesn't always agree. The last time I ran into Pet Wants at a Market they offered a free sample of whatever food I thought my dog might like, and took down my basic info- name, email, my dogs breed and name.. not thinking about it, they emailed me asking me how my sample went and hoping my dog enjoyed the food. Which she did! My moms dog ABSOLUTELY loved it as well, so we found ourselves stopping at their storefront location to get our babes some delicious food. Priced reasonably, they have several dog food options, along with grain free options (which is what my dog likes because she has terrible allergies). Priced between $2.20lb- $2.95lb) we found their food to be reasonable and worth it since they liked it so much. I found myself feeling very yuppy for buying my dog fresh dog food, but they're my babes so I have to spoil them, right? If you have a dog or a cat, I'd highly suggest taking a sample if it is ever available. Did someone say "dog beer"?! Yes please! I finally got the chance to stop by and this is such a cool store! My favorite thing by far is the dog beer; they have hilarious names and are 100% safe for your pet. Also, because our dog is really picky went it comes to food, we took a sample of the chicken and rice food and it must be magical because it is the only one she will eat now. We will definitely be coming back for more. There is also all kinds of treats, toys and even bandannas. The store definitely has all your pet wants and needs. read more

Pet Wants is awesome! Lindsey is friendly and knowledgable, which makes for a very pleasance shopping experience. Unlike the big pet food companies, they make the food in small batches every month, so you can feed your dog or cat something that is fresh and not loaded up with preservatives. My dogs are heavy chewers, so they have especially enjoyed the antlers, which last for ages! Unlike those carried in some other stores, these antlers are huge, so they are a safe size for my big pups. Support a business run by someone who truly cares, and pay this store a visit! read more
