After the very first visit, I was astonished and how well my 6-month-old Golden Retriever responded. I went from being frustrated and, honestly, disappointed in myself, to one of hope and excitement for our future. It is some of the best money I've spent. It was an investment that has give me a return of more than I could have ever dreamed of. I know that I have Doug's support throughout Zahra's lifetime and that, to me, is priceless. In my opinion, you will find none better than Doug with Bark Busters. Zahra and I are forever grateful we found him through the recommendation of my nephew, who used Doug for help with his Giant Schnauzer. You will not be disappointed, I can promise you that!

WORTH EVERY PENNY AND ASTONISHINGLY FAST!…read more Doug Rountree with Bark Busters of Louisville is fantastic! In the first hour, he completely changed the way we interact with our dog. Before we began the training, our puppy was lovable but demanding and thought she was in charge of our whole family. Practically 90% of her behavior problems (like mouthing/biting, barking, jumping on people, pulling) are virtually gone in less than a day! The rest are already much improved and I'm sure those will continue to get better as we reinforce our expectations with her. Our home is a much more peaceful, enjoyable place and our pup definitely seems happier and less stressed now that we have set clear, consistent rules in a language that she can understand. I love that it's done without treats or physical correction but instead uses how dogs naturally communicate to change behavior. Thank you Doug!

They give you a decent window of time in the AM and PM to drop off and pick up your pup so it's convenient for everyone. He was a little nervous on his first day but quickly warmed up to his trainer, Dakota. At the end of each week, you go in and are given a lesson going over what your dog has learned. Sit, lay, heel and place are just a few of the commands he learned. Our walks are MUCH calmer and we work on what he learned often. The staff is awesome, the place is clean and all in all I think it was worth the time and $ spent. They also have other programs depending what you're looking for.

Sadly, our dog Remy(white shepherd mix pictured with Rich and my wife) died last year from a sudden heart attack. I'm posting pictures from video as she's being trained to assist going up & down stairs. It's my opinion that even if you just try basic obedience, a trained owner and dog adds to the wonderful experience of canine ownership! We feel blessed having found Double H and Rich Hardin.

Our dog's leash aggression issues were making our everyday life miserable. We had tried video…read moretrainer methods, worked with another trainer for months, used an e-collar, and nothing worked, actually things just got worse. After coming home from walks in tears over and over, we finally decided to take a chance and enroll her in John's two week day training program. John tailored the program to fit the needs of our dog and the goals that we had as a family. Our dog came home every day from her day training with star pupil report cards. We were so confused. Was she faking it for John? Was she not going to be good with us like she was for John? Our fears were put to rest though. Every day when we picked her up, John would quickly go over what she learned in training so that we could work on those same tasks at home. He also sent us updates throughout the day and videos of her progress. Once the two weeks of training were up, the next phase is multiple one-on-one training sessions with John and our family. I think these sessions are what set John apart from everyone else. Our dog learned all the tools she needed to succeed during her day training sessions, but it was the one-on-one sessions out in the real world that really helped put all the pieces together. We came to John with our dog wearing her e-collar even for the most basic of walks and still couldn't control her, now she doesn't wear her e-collar at all, and we are even able to pass other dogs with only her flat collar on! I feel like I am in control and that she isn't walking me. She still has her moments, but I am able to get her under control swiftly and easily. I am so thankful to John for helping my family find order and peace. With yearly maintenance training sessions, we have been able to continue our progress and be proud of our dog! John has come to our rescue so many times since the training program ended with other behavioral issues and even helped us with a really difficult situation with both of our dogs while we were in the middle of moving. John is seriously the best. He truly loves what he does and it shows!

Our dogs range in ages from 8 months old to 17 years old. Not only does she excel at keeping all of our littles well taken care of with care that's tailored to each of their individual needs, but she also works with training them, she sends us several daily reports with photos and videos, she's always available for us to get ahold of if needed, she gets our mail and packages, she keeps our house safe and clean, and the icing on the cake is that she spoils our babies with LOTS of love! Michelle has taken them out for adventures, car rides, walks, pup cups, the list could go on and on! Most recently our 17 year old shihpoo became sick with stomach issues while we were out of town and Michelle gave her genuine mother's love! She went to our vet to pick up prescriptions and administered medication. She had to do lots of cleaning and laundry due to the illness. We trust Michelle with all of our dogs care and everything in our home to the fullest ! We will never use anyone else! If it weren't for Michelle we wouldn't be able to take time away for a vacation. She puts our hearts and minds at ease to be able to enjoy ourselves worry free. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Got2Petsit!

To say that we take daycare and boarding for CJ, our golden retriever mix, seriously is a major…read moreunderstatement! We arrived in Louisville just over three years ago and we tried MANY other places around town. Some were ok, some I would never take her back to, but NONE of them compare to Barks on Bauer! The first time we met the owners, Lynda and Bill, we felt immediately at ease. It's just so obvious how much they love animals! Moreover, they actually live on the second floor of the building, meaning that there's always someone on site when we leave our girl there overnight. Their space is clean, modern, and the dogs clearly love it! CJ knows the route from our house to Barks and once it's clear that's where we're heading she actually starts squeaking with anticipation and can't wait to get in the door. If there's any question that she loves it, when we come to pick her up, she runs to greet us, but then runs back to say "goodbye" to Bill before we can leave! The location itself is very convenient and the on-site parking makes drop off and pick up a breeze. There's also a peace of mind that comes with knowing that there's an animal hospital adjacent to Barks and that the two businesses have a great relationship. When it comes to cost and convenience, we've never found a better place! We've had family emergencies arise and they have been able to take CJ for a few nights with very little notice, something we still deeply appreciate. Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention how much CJ loves daycare there! After being so excited to get there, she spends a day playing and then comes home absolutely exhausted. If it's true that a tired dog is a happy dog, then we have one happy girl on Barks days! Not only that, but it really takes her a couple days to recover completely from a day of daycare. Of course, I think she gets extra excited when someone has a birthday and they have a party. Yep, that's right, dog birthday parties at dog day care. And the pictures they post online are even better than you'd imagine! We have have only had wonderful experiences with Barks on Bauer and, if it isn't obvious, we take caring for CJ pretty seriously! I absolutely recommend Barks to any dog owner who's looking for socialization, a caring team, and a wonderful experience for their dog!

I appreciate that Bill and Lynda are crazy-dog friendly. Winnie is an 85 pound lab and mastiff mix. She is every stereotypical thing you've heard about young labs. She's very sweet and friendly - but she's also a high energy vocal spazz. She's stayed at other facilities that were clearly annoyed by her rambunctious nature - so I always appreciate that Bill and Lynda seem happy when she visits. Bill and Lynda are also neurotic-owner friendly. They reply to my check-ins quickly. As time has went on I typically only check on her once a day (which is a significant decrease) - but that just goes hand in hand with trusting that they are caring for her. Anyone who has ever loved an animal knows that it can be difficult to leave them places - but that burden is eased when you feel like they are in capable and loving hands. Barks on Bauer also provides other services such as in-home pet sitting, dog walking, baths, nail trims, and birthday parties. If your dog needs medications, they're able to give them what they need. I love that they post pictures and videos of the dogs on Facebook so you can see them playing. They're literally right behind Chenoweth Animal Hospital - which is comforting to me to know they're so close in case anything happened. From one crazy dog mama to all the others reading this - try them out!
