I called the shop to explain the situation that the recipient is in recovery and unable to get the flowers. The owner responded with nothing but attitude and a sense of entitlement. The staff at Petal Peddler's is fantastic! I called in wanting to get my mom a nice arrangement when she got home from a recent hospital visit. I wasn't sure what to ask for and what would be a good fit but the staff had great suggestions. Ordered flowers for relative in L-ville and was VERY disappointed once I saw the pic of what was sent. To the florist's credit, they did contact me to say they couldn't really precisely replicate the arrangement I'd ordered but would try their best. What was sent was nothing at all like the $100+ arrangement I ordered. The colors were not vibrant nor were they what we'd discussed on the phone. The lady I spoke with kept referring to their designer and how the designer would make great substitute selections to create a similar arrangement. I honestly was bummed out when I thought that the Vernon Hills location had closed. I used Petal Peddler's last year to create a bouquet of flowers for my mother for Mother's Day, and I intended to do the same this year. Thankfully, a fellow Yelper reached out and told me that they moved to Libertyville in the Red Top Plaza. *whew* I truly did not want to try to find another florist! I hopped online, browsed at their selection and selected the bouquet (see picture) to have made for my mom. They offer a good, better and best. I picked the better selection. I called and placed my order. The woman who took it was super helpful and processed my transaction quickly. I did not have to pay over the phone and was told I could pay when I picked up the flowers. I could only pick them up on Saturday, so they told me that they'd be ready after noon. They close at 5pm Saturdays and are closed Sundays. That's a bit of a bummer, since I would have liked to give my mom the flowers on the actual day, not a day before. Anyway, no big deal. I stopped in a little after noon to pick them up. They were ready and waiting for me. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and exactly as described in the online description of the bouquet I ordered. The woman who checked me out was super friendly and gave me a box so I could carry it better. Best of all, my mom absolutely loved the flowers! As I recommended in my review for their old VH location - I highly recommend using this florist. They've been in the business forever and do wonderful work. They also have excellent customer service. I can, without doubt, say that I will be using PP for my floral needs in the future. read more

This is a great local business, but I'm leaving this one-star review up until they get with the program and follow public health requirements. Come on, guys. Wear face coverings. You walk in there and the people in the front start scrambling around, looking for masks they obviously haven't been wearing all day (and some of them just don't bother anyway). No such urgency for the folks in the back, who continue working as if it's 2019. Maybe they're all family, but as a customer, it doesn't make you feel very safe entering a small shop with five or more people not masked up. Not sure I can continue to patronize a place with so little regard for customer safety. I don't know if it's a reflection of ownership's politics, but we're a year into this. The anti-mask garbage is getting old for everyone. Grow up and put one on until we all get vaccinated, and show some respect for the people who buy from you. DO NOT ORDER LONG DISTANCE! I ordered a specific arrangement on the phone. I asked the gal taking my order to send me a picture. 1. She never sent the picture. 2. She sent a different arrangement. 3. I paid $6 for a Mylar balloon that was not dropped off according to the front desk at Brookdale. I called and spoke to manager and he offered me a $6 refund on the missing balloon and a 10% discount on the transaction. After a 20 minute call with mainly wait time. I tried to do "local" business but NEXT TIME USE A NATIONAL CALL CENTER that will give me what I paid for or at least a more meaningful refund. read more

I don't even know where to begin, but I have to say that Carole of Petal Peddler's FAR exceeded my expectations. I didn't know the first thing about choosing a florist for my wedding, so my venue gave me a list of their preferred vendors, and Petal Peddler's website impressed me and my mom, so we set up an appointment to meet with Carole, about 10 months before our wedding. Before the meeting she asked me to send her some pictures and to tell her a little bit of what I was thinking--so I did just that! I had no idea that when we went in to meet with her she would have made up a sample bouquet and two sample centerpieces for me to get an idea of what our wedding flowers would look like! I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful everything was, and by how well she was able to make what was in my head a reality. She was very organized, took extensive notes, and was very thorough! I also appreciated how honest Carole was. I wanted a specific flower--one that was a bit pricey, and she told me that the flower was usually out of season by my wedding date, and that if she ordered them, she couldn't promise that they would be as pretty as some of my other options. I appreciated her honesty and I felt that she cared about me being happy and loving my flowers for my wedding rather than potentially getting more money for her business. Before the wedding we met one more time just to make sure everything was in order and it was!! She still had all her notes from our first meeting and she was even flexible in scheduling as we were meeting so close to the wedding day. Day of the wedding she arrived at the church way before I did! I was able to walk in and watch her decorate a little which was fun to do!! And she took my vision and made it come to life at the church. She truly did a beautiful job. And my bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were STUNNING. I couldn't even believe how beautiful and fresh the flowers looked and stayed! For our reception tables we chose two types of arrangements- a low and a high to alternate at tables (Carole recommended it!) which is basically the best decision ever because it gave so much texture and dimension to our reception space! Again, the arrangements were beautiful, and the colors were SO bright and perfect. My husband even said he loved them! Carole provided mirrors and votives as well. We bought the short vases, and Carole let us take home the tall ones and said she wouldn't charge us as long as we brought them back after the flowers were gone. She didn't have to do that, but she wanted our family and friends to enjoy the flowers as long as they could! It was very kind and thoughtful of her! The flowers were still beautiful and blooming when we got back from our honeymoon over a week later and we were very impressed! Bottom line: if you are looking for a florist--especially a wedding florist, PLEASE use Petal Peddler's!!! Carole was wonderful, the flowers were bright and beautiful, and I couldn't have imagined better flowers for my wedding if I tried. She spent time in the beginning getting to know me and what the vibe of the wedding would be. I shared pictures of things I liked. Later meetings she put together samples of some of the items we wanted for our wedding and I just loved them. Everything that she provided at our wedding was even better! I received flowers from Petal Peddler's on May 6th for my birthday. The delivery woman was one of the most pleasant people who's ever delivered anything to this house! They were beautiful and fragrant (natural fragrance, not the fake spray fragrance), and they FILLED the jar. When I say "filled" - I mean there couldn't be a single stem pushed into the mouth of the jar! I've had quite a few people visit the house over the last two weeks and almost everyone who saw the flower arrangement commented on the presence they held in the room. It's been over two weeks and the arrangement is still bright white - but the petals are just starting to curl and shed, so it's time to dispose of them ... now here's where the attention to detail shined brightest: I couldn't pull the flowers from the vase. After careful examination, the flowers had been secured with an ultra thin tape that held them in place as well as adhered to the outer edge of the vase! I'm nearly 60 years old and NEVER saw that before on any floral arrangement in my life. I live several towns away from this flower shop, but this bouquet outshines anything I've received in my town, so regardless of distance, Petal Peddler's will be my exclusive place to get flowers. I saw the only 2-Star review for this place before posting this, and although my delivery was before theirs and most of the flowers are to be retired15 days later, my Daisies are still popping! Carol was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was willing to work within our fairly rigid budget, but still gave us the most beautiful flowers I could have imagined for our wedding day. She handled delivery, and even called me the day of our wedding to let me know that she had taken extra care to protect our flowers from the heat (since it was 97 deg at the end of September, yuck), and gave me some tips on how to keep them fresh throughout the long day. She was incredibly responsive when I needed to make some changes to our order, and scheduled a phone call with me a week or so before the wedding to confirm all the final details. Someone delivered me flowers a few days ago. I've worked with a LOT of florists over the years, and this is by far best one I've worked with. Ron was the delivery person. I wasn't home, so he called me, and put my flowers in a safe place, and when I got to them, they were perfect! They weren't in a box, mangled up with water everywhere with disheveled flowers. She made me 2 mock bouquets because the first one wasn't the arrangement that I was hoping for although it had been exactly what I requested.
