This is the 3rd time I've received flowers from Debbie's floral shop and each time the plants and flowers were high quality and were in nice quality ceramic or glass vases or ceramic pots. I can't describe what an AWESOME job the owner, Marion, did with all aspects of my wedding. The most dazzling was my bouquet. I'll upload a picture of it if I can. My wedding had some very sentimental elements to it. In the absence of my mother and my husbands grandmother one of the elements was to include their broaches in my bouquet. That led to me collecting broaches from a lot of women in my family. Marion did an awesome job of incorporating them into my bouquet. I also opted not to go with bouquets for the brides maids, but hand fans. She added flowers to them for a little flair. Let's not forget being the day of coordinator for the wedding and creating the ceremony backdrop, the table linens and centerpieces, the welcome table, handling the gifts. Everything that you could think of for the day of your event, she handled! I had no worries and everything was BEAUTIFUL. I found out when she arrived to the venue that the tables were not in order, she had to rearrange everything. When guests arrived everything was in order! It seems that some other people have had some poor customer service experiences with Debbie's floral, and I'm very sorry for that. And admittedly, the shop itself needs to be redecorated on the outside, as it really does not do justice to the quality of the flowers and service inside (in my experience). My mother and fiance and I, however, had a great experience with Debbie's as the florist for my wedding. Nel, the owner, and Katrina, the designer, were very helpful, and very flexible in putting together the perfect wedding flowers for me. They never ceased in being friendly, and were perfectly lovely to work with. I did not have a very specific vision for my flowers, but was able to just tell them what I liked and did not like and they put together lovely bouquets, corsages, etc, that everyone praised at the wedding. They were very slightly late in delivering the flowers the day of the wedding, but considering the quality of everything else they did for our wedding, this didn't bother me much. I have not used Debbie's for buying single bouquets, birthday flowers, etc, but I would absolutely recommend them for wedding flowers. read more

We used Debbies Floral for our wedding - they were the preferred vendor for our venue and I was happy to support a Mundelein business. However it seemed every interaction had some sort of mistake. Its becoming harder and harder to believe they are genuine mistakes and not intentional. I called and left a voicemail to set up a meeting to place our order. I never heard back and had to call the venue to have them push for communication. When I finally did have her answer the phone she claimed she had emailed me. I never got it. When we came in for our appointment I had only a general idea of what I wanted. I explained I wanted a loose arrangement for my bouquet and we settled on the types of flowers to be included. Nell also showed me a gold glitter sprayed rose which I wanted added to my bouquet as well. We were not using floral centerpieces, so the only other items were corsages/boutonnieres and ceremony pieces. Because she is a preferred vendor, Nell knew the area we were getting married and suggested two pieces on the altar and shepherd hooks for the aisle. We agreed to both. About a week after our meeting, we got the typed up estimate and contract. We paid the deposit no problem. When my husband called later to pay the remainder of the bill, he ended up being charged DOUBLE what our entire order was! We immediately brought it to Nell's attention and she refunded it and said she would wait to charge the correct amount until the refund had actually hit his account. I then forwarded my credit card info so she could charge the final amount. When she did charge it, it was over the amount she said she was going to charge. She explained it was due to taxes (which you can't escape). She called me about a month or two away from our wedding, pretty flustered because the ceremony site would not allow for us to use shepherd's hooks. Again, she is the preferred vendor for this venue. She said instead they would need to have arrangements on the chairs in the aisle. That's fine by me. She also let me know that the arrangements could be reused inside the venue, but we needed to have someone do that. She sent over an updated contract, that still showed a balance due. I responded we were paid in full, but never heard back. The day of, the flowers were beautiful and no one can say a bad thing about how they looked, however, they were not what I anticipated getting. My bouquet was rounded and structured and the roses did not have the glitter spray. The leaves instead were half spray painted gold. I also felt like some of my requested flowers were put in as an afterthought. Additionally, the arrangements were secured to the chairs so much that we needed to call the wedding coordinator to remove them. While on our honeymoon, we received a notification that my husband's card had been charged again the deposit amount. I emailed her to let her know our account was paid in full (including receipts and her acknowledgement in the email chain). We didn't hear back. When we got home I spoke with Nell on the phone to try and explain what I had already emailed to her. She talked over me and generally seemed dismissive. She did ultimately admit the mistake, saying 'they just didn't look far enough back.' She said she would refund it and email me once she had. No apology. Two weeks later, no refund, no email. My husband left a message with someone else who answered the phone and we have not heard back from that call either. We are disputing it with the credit card company. My husband and I got married this past August and we had Debbie's do all of our floral arrangements. The process was easy and Jennifer was amazing! She was knowledgeable, friendly and executed my ideas perfectly! In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Jennifer and the staff at Debbie's exceeded my expectations. I was blown away by how fresh and beautiful the flowers were and the amount of detail that went into each piece from my GORGEOUS bouquet, to the flowers at the altar, to the center pieces. Nell did the flowers for my wedding and she knocked it out of the park! I must have sent her 15 photos, all differing slightly and explained to her what I wanted and she absolutely nailed it. Everything was beyond what I ever expected. She arrived right on time and set everything up. I had a piece of lace from my mom's veil and she even attached it for me. She made the entire experience fun! She understood exactly what I was wanting when I couldn't find the right words and she delivered. I couldn't explain exactly what I had wanted for the bouquets but she managed to completely understand from the photos I sent her and the flowers exceeded my exceptions. Debbie's Floral in Mundelein -- What an absolute disappointment and the worst customer service I've ever experienced (I've actually never written a negative online review, but this experience has prompted me to do so). If there was an option to provide no stars, I would have done it. Long story short... I ordered flowers to be delivered on Saturday, March 28th as a birthday surprise. That evening, I had to ask the recipient if she had received anything from us (how embarrassing!). She responded no. I asked her if she'd received a phone message or if anything was at her door -- she checked, and again no. I wrote an email that night to Debbie's Floral via their website, asking them to call me on Monday morning. When I heard nothing as of noon on Monday, I called them. The woman, Katrina, who answered the phone knew who I was and told me they had tried to deliver them on Saturday but no one was there. So, they redelivered them to a neighbor on Monday (ignoring my request to call me). And, at this point, the flowers were already two days old. I then learned that the recipient would not be home on Monday or Tuesday, so I called back and asked to have the manager call me. I was told that Jennifer would contact me. Monday came and went and Jennifer did not contact me. I wrote another email Monday night, stating that I was appalled that no one had called me as requested and stating that I wanted the order cancelled immediately and the charge refunded to my credit card. I also stated that I wanted confirmation that they had done this. Tuesday? NOTHING! No call, no email -- NOTHING! Then, on Tuesday night, I find out that the flowers had been delivered and that the recipient had to send them back because they weren't fresh! Then, they were redelivered. Again, Debbie's Floral never contacted me about any of this. So, on Tuesday night, I left a voicemail indicating that I wanted Jennifer to call me on Wednesday. Did she? NOPE! On Wednesday afternoon, she sent a long email explaining why they did nothing wrong. She even went so far to say they had incurred additional expenses going to the home multiple times! And, she even sent me the phone number of a local police officer so I could call them to learn why the florist shouldn't call me when someone isn't home due to crime reasons!! She also indicated that she had received my first email on Sunday morning but chose not to call me until after she spoke to her delivery person, and she couldn't talk to him until after 4 pm on Monday -- why she chose not to at least call to tell me that is completely unknown. So, after receiving the email on Wednesday, I called immediately and Jennifer answered. As I started to talk, she actually began yelling at me. I asked her to stop and told her she had an unhappy customer and to please let me finish what I was saying. She continued to interrupt and yell at me and asked, "Do you have any idea what the weather was like here? Do you know what would have happened if we'd left the flowers?" Again, giving me no opportunity to explain what I would have liked to have happen. She then continued yelling, and when I cut her off, she asked, "What type of work do you do?" I told her, and she responded, "Do ever have someone unreasonable that you're dealing with and do you let them keep talking?" I was in shock that she could treat a customer like this. I told her that I just wanted to talk about the concerns, but she continued to yell. Finally, I told her that I would be disputing the charges as the flowers were not delivered as expected and that I would be letting people know about the concerns. She continued yelling, and I told her I was hanging up. I hung up as she continued to yell. Debbie's Floral had six (6) opportunities to remedy this situation, but they chose at no point to call me and only emailed me 5 days later after I'd sent 2 emails and called 3 times. Then, when they had a final opportunity to remedy the situation, Jennifer decided it was in her best interest to instead yell at me and call me unreasonable. I've never had an experience like this, and I want to be sure that others avoid Debbie's Floral so they do not have to endure this type of treatment from a retailer. read more

I worked with Nell and have to say that she was a creative genius who helped me stay within my budget and provided flowers more beautiful than I imagined. First, she was quick to respond from my first phone call to make an appointment, to giving me an estimate, to the final week details. When I met with Nell to discuss what I wanted, it was amazing to see her work. She was envisioning what I was trying to describe. There were things that I was also unsure of and she asked me the right questions or provided me with some pictures to help me. Then, Nell would say "hold on" and she would come back with a sample, pulling flowers that were in the shop and creating it. Brilliant! And my bouquet. I described what I wanted, suggested the colors I loved, my favorite flowers, and never had I seen a more beautiful bouquet. On the day of the wedding, every detail was taken care of. The flowers were PERFECT. Breathtaking. The flowers for my unity candle were so beautiful and those became the centerpiece for our sweetheart table during the reception. And Nell was so wonderful to work with. When I walked out of the shop, I felt inspired and full of joy. I can't describe how special she made me feel. She emailed me a proposal within three days. At the wedding, she pinned the boutonnieres and corsages with so much tenderness. She made such an impression on my family and bridal party. I placed an order online and mistakenly put in the wrong date. I called and spoke to Nell and she assured me that it would be fixed. Unfortunately the flowers were delivered on the wrong day regardless. Upon calling to see what happened she noted that the change had been made but not followed. She delivered another order on the correct day which was an equal or better bouquet so all is good!! i appreciate that the fix was very painless and no hassle. read more

I had to create a yelp account just to warn everyone to beware of this shop. If you're looking for quality flowers and helpful customer service, don't even waste your time considering a trip to Debbie's. I made the mistake of stopping in to buy a bouquet for my mother-in-law on my way to lunch. I walked in the front door and was immediately stricken by the smell of mold and layer of dust that covered their display in the window. I continued to wander through the store, wondering where I would find a fresh bouquet of flowers... After about 5 minutes of browsing, I found the counter and began to say "excuse me" because I was clearly in need of some help. Finally, someone came out and I asked if they could help me by putting together a bouquet because I hadn't seen anything that I was too thrilled with on the sales floor. They very bluntly informed me that "You can buy whatever we have out. I won't put anything together unless you ordered a day in advance." WHAT??? What kind of customer service is that?? Do they deny ALL of their walk-in customers? By the empty look of their store, can they even afford to be turning customers away?? Needless to say, I was extremely baffled and just walked out. I noticed there was another larger florist across the street: Flowerama Mundelein which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! I will write a review for them on their page next. I just received excellent service calling Debbie's Floral Shoppe for a funeral arrangement. The woman I ordered from seemed young but was professional, helpful and ensured accuracy. The second woman I spoke to (maybe a manager? sorry, I didn't catch her name) was extremely helpful and offered great substitutions. She even offered to spray paint a container for me if I wanted a specific color! The delivery location isn't typical but is a location their are familiar with. I needed next-day delivery before 9am, and they going out of their way to ensure timely delivery to the service. The only reason I can't give them five stars is because the arrangement won't be delivered until tomorrow and I won't see it in person. Debbie's Florist is an amazing florist. I used them for my wedding and could not have been more pleased. I worked with Nell and she was the best. I met with her and discussed what I had envisioned and she far exceeded those expectations! I was beyond thrilled with the freshness of the flowers and the amazing customer service. Most of my guests took the flowers home after the wedding and were still talking about them a week later! They were the most beautiful arrangements and I would recommend them to anyone for their big day or any event for that fact! read more

I had an appointment with my daughter scheduled for her wedding flowers. We showed up at the time confirmed which was 1 hour BEFORE their store closing hours. The door was locked and no one was there. We tried several times to call and leave message. An hour later we receive a voice mail apologizing and wanting us to return the call. REALLY????? This experience has devasted my daughter at a time that should be happy. We have since taken our business elsewhere and have received excellent care, customer service and respect. Word of mouth goes a long way and I will be offering my experience with Debbie's Floral Shoppe every chance I get! Obviously they don't need the business. read more

Overall, Debbie's staff are friendly and polite, however I ordered flowers on line two weeks before Valentine's Day to be delivered to my girlfriend's work and she did not receive the flowers until 4:45 PM. and she was off of work at 5:00 PM. I had to spoil the gift by asking her is she got them and when she said no I called the florist and the only response I got was "Well it's Valentine's Day and we only have four drivers". While I understand they were busy, I believe they should have staffed appropriately. I am also disappointed that the roses she received were the smallest roses I have ever seen in my life. It also looked like they threw the arrangement together in about five minutes. While they may do a great job every other day of the year, it seemed like they were not prepared for Valentine's Day. Poor customer service, I called four days in advance for a Mother's Day arraignment to be delivered. My card was charged and no arraignment was ever delivered, nor was there an attempt to get in touch with the recipient. After a week and a half of trying to get in touch with Debbie's and no returned calls I finally got someone on the phone. They stated that "there were a couple of glitches" and the order was missed. They did refund my card but not a single apology! I prefer to support locally owned and run businesses but am sad to say I will no longer be using Debbie's. read more

I am out of state. I order flowers over the phone, was given a delivery date and estimated time. My bank account was deducted almost immediately but never got the invoice emailed to me, as requested. I thought maybe it come upon delivery of the arrangement. When I checked with the recipient of the flowers they had not received them. When we called the florist we were told the order wasn't in the system and the owner would have to call us back. When she did she was apologetic and would have the arrangement made and then the own delivered the flowers since the delivery driver wasn't at work that day. We then got a call back saying the delivery had been made. When the recipient sent us a picture of the flowers we noticed the wrong arrangement was sent. A much less attractive arrangement. We called the owner back and told her of the mistake. We requested a full refund. The own refused since she was a small business and could afford to do so. When we said we would stop payment the owner threatened us by telling us she would show the bank her invoice showing she did provide flowers and since we didn't have an invoice to show it was wrong, we can't fight her. The owner did offer to send the correct arrangement to our friend. I'm disappointed in this since now my friend that was just supposed to receive a thoughtful gesture now is in the middle of the florist mistake. Again, I don't live anywhere near this business so obviously won't use them again, so I just want others to know how this shop runs their business. read more
