And this place deserves the praise! We'd previously taken our dog to one of the many other boarding facilities in this area and always been disappointed in the fact that (1) he wouldn't get any exercise because he's not the kind of dog to play with other dogs, he's the kind of dog who wants to walk with humans and (2) he'd always come home smelling HORRIBLE, even if the other boarding places had claimed to have bathed him. Then we found Laurel Oak, and we haven't looked back! We love that our pup gets two walks a day here, plus hours and hours of supervised play time. We love the Facebook posts showing that he's doing okay and "making friends". ;) And we love that when they say he is getting a bath, we can actually tell that he got a bath! This place is not really convenient to our home at all, but we keep going there again and again because we are so happy with the service and attention our dog gets. That alone is a testament to how great this place is.

I had an appointment to bring in my dog to be evaluated for a daycare spot, but before I brought…read moreher in, I spoke with the general manager on the phone to ask about the other Yelp review that stated they use electronic bark collars. She said they no longer use them after they had an incident regarding one, but they allow owners to bring their dogs in already wearing them. I asked about the wording of the waiver owners are required to sign, specifically asking if it had been revised so that it no longer required owners to legally consent to allowing the company to put bark collars on their dogs. She was evasive, stating she hadn't looked at the contract lately, wasn't sure if it had been revised, it was not going to be revised for the next few weeks at least, etc. I said, "Well, if you're not going to put bark collars on the dogs, then there is absolutely no reason why the company would need to keep that part in the contract, right?" She had no answer for that, other than saying "It's for owners who bring their dogs in with the bark collar already on, but we do not provide them." I said, "Well, how is it worded? Does it talk about the owner providing the bark collar, or does it require the owner to give consent for the company to put a bark collar on? Those are two very different things." She could not - or would not - answer that question. I asked her to get a copy of the contract, look at it, and read me the relevant part so we could just get clear on what the waiver actually stated. She said it was available online, but only after I signed up and signed in as a client and gave them all my information. I said, "You can't take 2 minutes to just read me the relevant part without making me go through all that?" She could not. She was busy; she had better things to do than provide minimal customer service on an important issue. Clearly, she had something to hide. My guess is that at this time the contract has not been revised and it still requires owners to legally consent to the company putting bark collars on their dogs. I'm not okay with that. I canceled my appointment. They didn't want my business enough to bother answering a simple yet important question, and I don't want to give my business to a company who requires owners to legally consent to authorizing the company to do what I view as torturing dogs, and tries to hide what they're doing. If you want humane, compassionate care for your furbaby with an above-board, honest and trustworthy company, look elsewhere. There are lots of better options.

Queen City Corals

We are first-time customers of Queen City Corals and decided to purchase two Black Light Anemones…read moreon 02/03/2025. My order was shipped on 02/04/2025 (Order #89196) and delivered on 02/05/2025 at 10:20 AM. Given the many five-star reviews, I had high expectations. Their website claims a 99% Live Arrival Guarantee, that staff are trained to the highest standard of corals, and that each coral is securely triple-bagged and encapsulated in specific specimen containers to ensure live arrival. Unfortunately, these so-called commitments proved to be untrue. Upon opening my package, I was immediately hit with a foul odor coming from each bag. The anemones displayed clear signs of distress, including open mouths, faded coloration, shrunken and deflated tentacles, a lack of response to stimuli, and visible tears on their bodies. The only positive aspect of my order was the mystery frags--a Birdsnest and a Neon Green Acropora--but even those were underwhelming. I immediately contacted Queen City Corals' support team, but their response time was slow. When I called and spoke with the manager, I was assured that the anemones "just look pissed" but would recover after acclimation. Despite following the acclimation process exactly as instructed, the anemones began to deteriorate and melt in my tank. I attached images as evidence. To prevent further damage to my reef tank's water quality, I removed the anemones and reached out to Queen City Corals again, seeking guidance on how they would rectify the situation. After receiving no response, I followed up the next day. When I called, a representative assured me that the manager would return my call. Hours passed with no response. Frustrated by the lack of communication, I called again and was once more told the manager would "look into it." After much back and forth, they finally issued a refund for the Black Light Anemones but refused to refund the shipping cost--even though the corals were dead on arrival. While I understand that shipping costs are a shared loss, this situation clearly warranted a full refund for the entire order. Although a partial refund is better than nothing, the entire experience highlighted Queen City Corals' lack of communication, poor product quality, and false advertising. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere, such as Aqua SD or World Wide Corals, for better quality and service.

He's a doodle and had some matting and she was able to shave just where he was matted and leave everything else fairly long (like I asked). Typically when I pick him up from other groomers, he is completely shaved from being matted but not here. He is so soft and fluffy. I also love that they are a stay and play!! So you can drop your dog off at any point, and pick them up at any point during business hours. No late fees, no extra charges!!! I love this- I always hate planning my day around when my dog is going to be ready at other groomers. It seemed like the dogs were just wandering around the grooming area and there was a little area for strictly playing, but it's not like they take them to a separate room or outside, but I still love how they socialize and aren't caged!! It was pricy- at other groomers I have paid $80-$90 for a groom and here it was $105, but that also includes getting to play and socialize for as long as you need, so I think it's worth it!! I will note, they charge a 4% credit card fee if you use one. But they don't if you Venmo or pay cash. We will definitely be back!

She came out and spoke with us at length about our needs, and to meet the cats. While we were gone they sent us pictures and comments about how the cats were that day. Such a relief to find a reliable company. It's difficult to trust your beloved pets to other people, not to mention handing over your house keys. But I feel very comfortable using them in the future and recommending them to others.

She said she was a NURSE and he needed care. WTH! She didn't even clean him up!! He was just dripping blood! 8 + years of going there and thats how she treats regulars...? Pathetic! Kim also has an attitude problem. Sometimes she is pleasant enough to deal with and other times she acts like you have ruined her day by coming into her business. She is just a rude and unpleasant person. There are other reviews of dogs being cut and her acting defensive and dismissive. Avoid at all costs!!. There are plenty of other groomers that won't slice your dog up and then blame you.

Do Not Take Your Dog Here!…read more We took our puppy to Modern Pet Salon for the first time because we heard they use scissors instead of clippers, which we thought would be gentler. It turned out to be a terrible mistake. We specifically asked them multiple times not to cut too much of her hair, especially since she doesn't like it, but they insisted she had too many tangles and needed a full trim. Not only did they ignore our request, but they cut our puppy twice, both on her ears--areas where there was no tangled hair at all. They even called us during the appointment to say she was bleeding. Later, they claimed it was because she had an ear hematoma and that they had just trimmed it. That was a complete lie. We took her to the vet, who confirmed that the injury was a fresh cut from grooming and not from any medical condition. She did not have a hematoma. They hurt her, and then tried to cover it up. They also asked us to use an old sock to cover the wound, which felt incredibly unprofessional and careless. Since then, our puppy has been extremely uncomfortable. She keeps shaking her head, clearly bothered by her ears, and she has been very sad and withdrawn. This is the first and only time something like this has ever happened to her. I'm beyond disappointed. Not only should they have never charged us for this awful experience, but they should not be handling dogs, especially sensitive breeds like doodles, if they can't do so safely and honestly. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Please protect your pet and take them somewhere else.
