Terrible customer service skills. Very rude and would not come back at all. My dogs nails looked good though.

I brought my cat here a few months back for a bath and deshedding. He came home still shedding perfusley, still with a dirty butt, absolutely terrified (which was expected, but still sad knowing it was for no reason) and smelling strongly of cologne. Wouldn't go back. I don't feel like they did a thorough job at all, despite him being there crated for nearly 9 hours with presumably no food. So they are in a new location in Tega Cay so I thought I'd give them a try. I called and was able to book an appt for 2 weeks later. Upon arrival, no masks by the employees. I found it odd because when you go to their website there's a covid banner about how they are making changes to limit spread. I arrive at 8 am, don't hear any other dogs in there and expected she'd be groomed upon arrival. . My girl is a nervous nelly so about 2 1/2 hours after drop off I call to get an estimate on when to pick her up, I'm told 2. Shame on me for not asking but 6 hours is a bit redic. Get there to pick up at 2, no one at the desk, I see people in the back eating their lunch. Dogs crying. They bring my dog out and she looks okay. But for the price I expected more. Other local groomers are less expensive and are much faster, and friendly. The 2 employees I encountered did not look like they wanted to be there. Definitely contributes to the small town feel that's quickly fading from this chain-filled little home town of mine. The staff at Dirty Dog are super duper. We have taken all of our puppies there since the place opened a few years back (probably about 10 years back at this point) and they always come back to us squeaky clean with their little tails waging. Honestly, we really wish we had seen some of the prior Yelper Reviews on this place before placing my dog in this facility. I can only imagine what we would have seen, or smelled - had they not groomed before we picked up our dog and came home after him staying for almost a week. We usually board our dog at Rock Hill Animal Hospital - and have always received top notch service and can see the facility. Dirty Dog Depot the grooming service, it is ok - having used them in past. We decided to try the boarding facility, we were not even pressed for time, we had plenty of time to research this place. So, for that - we did an epic fail, first and last time ever. Here is what we would caution anyone on, in advance based our experience with boarding our pet here - If you love your fur-baby, as we do ours-- Then it is a no brainer (DON'T DO IT). Our pet will never go to this place for boarding ever again. Here are all the reasons why Dirty Dog Depot's Boarding services would get only "1/2 of a star" for a yelp rating (if it were an option) - they would only get that because our dog is still alive, for the most part. Red Flag# 1: We could not see the actual boarding facility because it is located in another location, it is located "out yonder" - it is somewhere over the rainbow - located in York, SC. How about this, there is no pictures of their boarding kennels and caretakers to be found either. Why is that? (Things that make you go, hmmm??) ... The images posted for this company are for the grooming side of the business and not the "boarding kennel". Red Flag# 2: When we picked up our dog - had small sores on him, like he had been knocking against the crate or crated in small quarters, or who knows - maybe one of the caretakers were neglectful or violent (I have to acknowledge the possibility of neglect and violence only in considering my dogs demeanor) upon him returning over last few days. Red Flag# 3: Our dogs demeanor, has not been that of a dog that has had a happy experience away from home (as in the past boarding experiences). Over the last few days - the behavior he has shown - has lead us to believe, he was traumatized by his experience at this boarding place, he will not go near his own crate (we were told prior to boarding him here, that the dogs have constant doggy door access in and out of the crate) to use the bathroom when needed and exercise. He looks very depressed and acts unusually submissive (not his personality at all), he's usually very friendly, playful, and outgoing. Currently, he seems like he is just in a doggy depressive state, like he is trying to "find himself" again like part of him, got lost in this place - (OMG) we actually feel like, he needs some kind of anxiety medication, it's just unreal to see him act like this. Red Flag# 4: Our dog has a case of diarrhea now - so either this place did not feed him properly (the food that I provided them for his dietary needs) or worse yet, he may have been exposed to something, and we now have to take him to the vet. They need to be inspected, and pics of the kennel and boarding area need to be posted, the fact that they are not (this place has something to hide). As stated before, If you love your fur-baby, as we do ours-- Everything I just mentioned, your decision to board your dog here, should be a no brainer (DON'T DO IT). read more

Update: Though my experience was not pleasant I very much appreciate that the owner has taken their time to reply back to me and apologized for such a bad experience. They will further look into how they can improve their customer service with the entire staff so this will not happen to another customer. read more

This is probably your local pet groomer. Well before taking your pet here, I insist that you read my review/experience. I have a friendly Maltese mixed with a shitzu. I called a day ahead for an appointment on Sunday morning. I brought my dog in at 10 am for him to be groomed, bathed, and get his nails trimmed & ears plucked. Without me having to ask, the lady told me to come back at 2 pm he would be ready then. I come back at 2 pm to get my dog and the lady tells me it'll be another 30 mins and I worked at 3 pm. Me thinking it was more than enough time for him to be ready, I still give them the benefit of the doubt and called late to work. When I come back 30 minutes later, I hear my dog whining and crying and all the ladies at the desk were just talking not paying attention to me. Then when I finally see him i noticed that his outside and far away appearance looks great and they even gave him a bandana-collar. When I take him home I see that he has cuts and scrapes underneath his arm and on his belly. He did not have his nails trimmed and he only got one ear plucked. I then call and have to wait over 30 minutes for a manager to call me back and the most interesting part is that when I called and explained my situation I did not mention my name, nor my dogs name and they knew exactly what dog I was talking about. When I finally talk to the manager she says she's only willing to refund $20... are you KIDDING ME? I don't pay anyone to abuse my dog. I could tell they did not care much about HOW they did their job as long as they got it done because they couldn't even trim his hair evenly (check pictures). I wish I would have read the reviews prior to bringing my dog here but that's why I'm writing this review to prevent this from any possible pets/owners. read more

6 1/2 hours for a bath and cut! That is just crazy. Should NOT have booked the appointment if you were that busy. My yorkiepoo was locked in that little cage for the entire day. I have heard several negative comments about the grooming at Dirty Dog Depot, so I have never taken my dogs there. However, they do carry a dog food that most stores do not carry so I stopped by to pick some up. Employees should probably realize that there is a mirror in the back room, so when they talk to other employees and laugh about your question they should know someone's watching. I do not get my very large dog with long shaggy hair groomed very often due to his size and amount of work he requires as well as the prices that most places charge. (I pay way more to have him groomed than I pay to have my own hair cut.) But Dirty Dog Depot in Fort Mill is very affordable! They are always willing to let me drop him off on the weekend and then they just call me when he is done to come and pick him up. Plus all of the staff members that I have met are all very nice. Compared to other places I have been I will always recommend Dirty Dog Depot to others. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever..... We boarded our dogs there. They cart the dogs 3 crates high in a non air conditioned bus from ft mill to clover. There is no ability to see the boarding facilities. When our dogs came home they were covered in feces. They left their dog beds at the boarding facility. When they returned them to me, they smelled worse than anything I have ever smelled... They smelled like something had died or rotted on the beds. I couldn't even put them in the car. I wish they were closer now, since we moved across town I have been sad that I can't take our two dogs here to get groomed. They are very kind, accommodating and their prices are more reasonable than most groomers in the Charlotte area. Definitely won't come back. Booked on a Saturday to bring our dog in for a cut on Tuesday.. show up Tuesday, we are not even in the books .. then the employees talked to me like I was in the wrong. Then they said they can take her but she won't me ready til the end of the day. We come to pick her up around 4:30pm and pay $65 for the cut and "bath" - she smelled like a dirty dog literally. Then we look at her hair, and her hair is uneven all over the place , some spots not even cut like under her arms and on her belly, her head wasn't even faded up looks like they just stopped at her neck. EVEN WORSE - We get home and she seriously jumps out of the car and rushes to the door, never seen her do that, runs inside and drinks her water and I refill the bowl and she drinks that.. they obviously didn't give her any water. This place is terrible. Our dog was neglected. When we picked her up she smelled terrible even though she was groomed. The staff grabbed her and basically threw her at us and then ran and hid in the back. It took a long time to undo the damage they caused her. Do not leave your pets here. I went to this groomer for a short time and felt they were satisfactory at best. I did not feel as though they took pride in their work, but rather were just doing a job. My decision to leave for good came after they shaved my Schnauzer's beard off and gave him a botched cut. My new groomer informed me that my dog's ears were caked with black goo from neglect and his anal glands had not been expressed in a very, very long time. Further proof that they don't take pride in their work and were neglecting my dog. It also made me wonder just WHO was working on my dog. My dog is a member of my family and I don't feel this business recognized that. I never observed the natural love and compassion for animals from the people who work there. I have been using Dirty Dog Depot or DDD for over 14 years. The staff is friendly, professional and my dog is treated great. I've visited the Ft Mill and Clover location and couldn't be more pleased. The hours are convenient and accommodating to my work schedule. Anytime I call to check on my boxer, I'm given a thorough report of how he's doing and what has happened throughout the day. The lady who runs the boarding facility allowed me to come do a walk through before deciding if i would like to keep my dogs with them. Because of some of the negative reviews on Yelp, I felt I needed to address the issues raised on Yelp with the owner before I bordered my dogs because I wanted to know I was getting the best care possible for my pets I care for so much. They welcomed my questions, allowed me to look into their little bus that transports the dogs to the off- site kennel (it is air conditioned, the crates are locking in place and only 2 crates high), and I was also welcomed to a tour of the off-site kennel and all my doubts were evaporated. Why is it bad that they board off-site?? They are very kind and caring and have an open door policy when it comes to visiting the off-site location for boarding. I believe some people can never be satisfied and enjoy finding fault in everything. The facility was very clean but the most convincing of all was the attitude of my 3 dogs when I went to go pick them up! All three dogs were so happy and not stressed (including my 10 year old terrier mix), and it really made me so happy to see them that way after leaving them there for the weekend to be cared for while my family and I were away. We have also used their day care service and have been just as happy with that service as well. I honestly don't understand the negative reviews they have received. Please don't hesitate to board your pets, use the day care, or groom them at the Dirty Dog Depot! They are an asset to the community! I am a grateful member of the Fort Mill community. read more

Would not recommend to anyone for grooming. They don't hold the animals down properly. While my cat was getting her nails cut a dryer was turned on and the noise scared her and she was running around the room and climbed up a wall. The employees thought this was hilarious while my cat was traumatized. The cheaper prices for services aren't worth it. read more

Do not take your dog here. I have a Maltese Pomeranian that is only 7 pounds and 5 months old. This was his very first full body haircut. Everything was fine when I dropped him off, picked him up, paid 45 dollars and I go into my car and started looking at his hair cut. I noticed that the top of his head hadn't been cut at all. So I walked back inside and asked if she could cut it because it was still very long. She rolled her eyes and said that he was moving so she couldn't cut it. She took him back and moments later she brings him back and asks if that okay. From a quick glance I said yes and left. I got home and realized that she had only cut a strip down the center of his head and all around his ears were still the same length. His body is so choppy and uneven. I dropped him off with his collar on and they clearly didn't take the time to take it off of him because he has a band of long hair where his collar sits. I called another place and I will have to pay another 45 dollars to get this mess fixed. I'm a hairstylist and I know I can do a much better job than they did read more

NO NO NO! Horrible Experience. My Dogs stayed for 2 days. They were returned rank and smelled horrible. One came back with a rash. Their play beds needed to be washed when I got them back and the killer here was they did not give back to me the left overs of the 1 gallon of food I left for my dogs. They gave the excuse that the dogs ate all of it or either kicked it over so they had to keep refilling the bowl. Bull! I called them out on that and they gave me $25 bucks in return bc they knew they were wrong. It's essentially 2 companies, one is the boarder that lives near Lake Wylie where the dogs go at night and the other is the groomer and that's the Dirty Dog Depot in Fort Mill. The boarder is horrible and neither of them are on the same page with each other. Hell the boarder tried to get my business from Dirty Dog Depot when I picked my dogs up and wanted me to bypass DDD. I will never walk foot back in either locations. DDD is hurting from doing joint business with the other company. My friend's mom warned me of them as she went thru the same thing with this company. Choose another and pass on Dirty Dog Depot. It's the worst experience I've had in a while. read more

This was the second time we boarded our dog here, the first time was nice, while we were away we called everyday and a woman at the location would tell us how great our dog was doing and he was great. However the second time we boarded him over the holidays was a completely different experience. We would call to see how he was and the person would say they have no idea but I'm sure he's fine because we didn't hear anything from the staff. We called a fee times during the course of the week with the same reply. When we arrived home we picked our guy up after we had him groomed as well and he had bald spots and sores all over him from head to tail, big circular red.spots also on the stomach and groin area. Then we noticed a trail of blood on the house and realized his nails were cut too short as well. We had to bring him to the Vet and have him checked out, they thought it was ringworm but it ended up being just an allergic reaction to something. He had also lost 6 pounds in the week span. They did not mention anything to us when we called. I don't know how they could not notice the bald spots but either way we will not be using their services anymore. read more
