Owning a Giant Schnauzer is basically like owning a small horse with endless energy--finding someone brave enough (and skilled enough) to groom him felt impossible. I scrolled through Yelp reviews and Instagram pages like an FBI agent, looking for proof of actual grooms of Giant schnauzers... and nada. Then my sister Alex who is a local attorney--(hit her up if you need your Trust or Estate Planning squared way - The Wagon Legacy located in Placentia, Ca.) tells me about Natalie! Natalie works at the Petco in Anaheim Hills, and let me tell you, she's not just a groomer--she's a wizard with clippers. I called Petco, left this detailed "please save me and my dog" voicemail, and Natalie called back right away. No hesitation she gave Duke and me what I would assume was a tryout (incase Duke behaved like a savage). It was like we were auditioning for America's Next Top Model but with more fur. The end result? I don't even think my words do it justice, that's why I'm attaching a photo of Duke that I took immediately after in the parking lot. Let's just say Duke walked out of there with serious main character energy, and a beard sharper than my own. Natalie is super cool, patient, brutally honest in the best way, and crazy detail-oriented. She even educated me on foxtails--I was clueless. She keeps following my wife and two children. My wife takes my children to watch the pets while shopping for our Dog food weekly. I walked in today and sure enough she follows them every time. That is considered harassment and I have made a complaint against her and her fellow teammate back there. The complaint was made to the corporate office. My wife spends nearly $100 every 10 days here at this location. I will continuously post this review and photo every time it gets taken down. read more

This store is the WORST! Today is the second time I've shopped here and the second time I've been treated like crap. Thought maybe the first time was a fluke but nope. After my experiences and reading all the other reviews, apparently this the norm here. I placed an online order for in-store pickup, but it wasn't received by the processing folks even though I had the order number and my cc had been charged - that's okay things happen. The person working in the store helped me get that all sorted out. He was nice, helpful, and said he'd void out the online order and we could do an in-store transaction. That sounded good to me. Things were going just fine... until I went to check out and noticed that the price was different - almost double, in fact. When I asked that it be adjusted to what I was charged when I placed the order four hours ago, he became very agitated, rude, and condescending, acting like he was doing me some huge favor by charging me the same price for the same items that he literally just voided - seriously?? WTF? Pay attention to what everyone else is saying, and do not shop here! There's PetSmart at SAVI Ranch that will treat you right. read more

They have a fabulous pet snack bar where they have an assortment of healthy, grain free treats for dogs. My puppy loves them. This store is my go to place for accessories. They have a better assortment than the other pet supply stores in the area. They also have a great array of toys for the pets. Their collars are also great, along with their life jackets . The employees are always helpful and the store is always clean. They even give the dogs a healthy treat from the snack bar at check out. I'll frequent this store for years to come! read more

My rescue hasn't been to a groomer before so I called to ask some general questions. [I had scheduled an appointment online earlier in the week for the following day at 5pm.] Whoever picked up the phone didn't know anything about grooming (and apparently the groomer was busy--too busy to take my number and call me back later). So she put me on hold to walk over and ask the groomer my questions. She made it clear that she was annoyed when I had another question that she couldn't answer and had to walk over/place me on hold a second time. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment. Afterwards, I called another local Petco and the girl was SO nice and patient. She answered all my questions and then some, explaining that you couldn't do a full bath and cut with an appointment made past 3pm ish since it could take up to 3 hours/past their groomer's closing time. However, the online system let's you schedule the full bath and cut anyway into the late afternoon/early evening. How efficient, huh?! [Usually the groomer would call to reschedule if happened, but how inconvenient for working pet parents that can't come in on the weekend.] read more

We love Petco Anaheim Hills for our dog grooming. We have 3 small dogs and 100% recommend Acacia! She is the nicest, sweetest person with our dogs. She takes her time and completely respects our wishes for each dog. In the past, other grooming facilities would often tell us we need to completely shave our dogs because of a little undercoat matting. Acacia takes her time and has never once told us we need to shave our dogs. I highly recommend Acacia for your dog grooming services !!! Our dogs LOVE her!! read more

My girlfriend is new to the hobby of freshwater aquariums and had a few questions so we dropped by to check out what fish they had. My Problem with Petco Anaheim hills is that they charged me for VIP services for my dog's grooming and one time I went there early to pick up my dog a staff member who did not know I paid for VIP earlier brought my dog out of kennel in front of me! I was so upset that they charged me 120 dollars and they put my baby in Kennel. She said she wasn't even there and she was right. Guess what! It was the "MANAGER" who did that, when I confronted her, she said "oh, your dog looks to be doing okay when in kennel, he is not anxious, don't worry about it"!! instead of apologizing because she charged me double NOT to keep him in kennel, she had the nerve to tell me that. Since, then I am taking my baby to Petsmart and it is very interesting that he is not shaking when I am taking him to his grooming anymore!! I drive from Fullerton to this Petco only because I know my dogs are in great hands with Milly! They always come back smelling great and happy as can be, I'm very over protective with my dogs so I'm always iffy with who I leave them with. Milly really goes above and beyond with them and insures me that they're in great hands. This store has been our go to location for years. Although it has never been a modern store, they always had the brand of dog food we used. Up until our last visit, they would always price match for us. When my wife asked for a match on the dog food, the cashier said the manager doesn't want to match anymore. Well we won't shop here anymore because we can also get the food now at PetSmart and even cheaper at Chewy.com. Stores that fail to see the need to compete will end up out of business just like so many other large box stores. The fact they do not want to match and they do not keep the stores up to date is a sure sign they are in decline. I'll be glad to help by shopping elsewhere. read more

Normally I am SO satisfied with my petco experience and the love and care they show for my dog. However today's experience was very concerning and I just wanted to give other dog owners a heads up. I brought my dog in for a grooming appointment and the employee seemed a little annoyed by me (she could of just been having an off day). But I was trying to better understand the upgraded services as I never used them before. Anyways my first clue to leave should of been when they DRAGGED my dog into the back, she is usually so happy to be there but the fact that they didn't even try to comfort her as they pulled her back was upsetting. Next, I came a little early to get her, assuming she wouldn't be ready but I decided I was going to do some shopping for her. When I arrived to the store, I saw all groomer sitting on the chair in the waiting room talking the other groomer and a friend of there's. (Someone not in uniform but standing behind the counter). I'm not sure how grooming works, I asked if she was ready, the same employee seemed annoyed as she walked into the back and said "she would check". the other groomer gave me the paper to pay and said she was ready she was being dried. They then brought her out of the back NOT on a leash into the salon. I was disappointed that they did not tell me how my dog experience was (especially since it was her first time with some of the services) and she was still wet but I decided to try and let it go. But it's been 4 hours and my dog is still scared, she's hiding under the bed and is not acting like herself. Clearly something happened at her service, the lack of transparency and care for my dog was not okay. I know how much others love their dogs and just wanted to give everyone a heads up. read more

We recently moved to Anaheim Hills and this was the closet groomer so I figured I would give them a try even though I had my reservations based on prior reviews. I booked an appointment online. When I arrived, the lady at the front refused to give my dog a haircut claiming they don't give haircuts for my type of dog. My dog is a small terrier/chi mix. The lady made some weird excuse about double layer or something. I just walked out because the whole interaction was weird and made zero sense. I immediately called my old groomer and scheduled an appointment. It's a little bit of drive for us, but the drive time is worth avoiding this place. Do NOT use! read more

Dear Petco, My name is Frankie and I'm a 7 month old puppy. My parents shop here for me because I need a lot of toys! For example, I can tear up the strongest of toys in under a minute flat and I'm not just talking about making a little hole, I'm talking about ripped open, squeaker out, stuffing all over the house! So anyway, my parents buy me some of the tougher Kong toys here because I'm cute and need my toys to keep me from tearing up the house. My parents buy other things for me here as well like food, flea/tick medication etc. and they seem to really like the experience. Everyone is so nice and helpful to them! And if something doesn't work they can just bring it back. A couple months ago they bought this little fence thing that was supposed to create a giant playpen for me. I figured out how to get out of that sucker in a day...amateurs! My parents brought it back and while they got their money back they turned around and spent it on more treats, toys and beds for me! Terribly dissatisfied!!! I made an appointment two weeks ago for an express grooming appointment. I was called several times to confirm my appointment, which I did. My appointment was tomorrow morning. Just now I received a call that my appointment was cancelled and could not be rescheduled until next week or maybe even the following week. What?? What kind of business is this??! You would think they would make some type of accommodation to render the service they have promised in advance. I recently made an appointment for the vetco vaccine clinic that will be opening next week. After having an issue with the web based scheduling, I called the Store and was lucky enough to have Amy answer. She listen to the issue I was having, took my contact information and said she would get some answers and call me right back. About 30 min later, Amy called me back and told me she had reached out to the regional manager in charge of scheduling and resolved my issue. The employees are nice don't get me wrong but their care for the animals is HORRIBLE. I walked in to get some supplies for my pets and decided to look at their reptiles. I have 3 ball pythons at home and they require 70-80% humidity in shed and 60% on normal days. The ball pythons I saw in this location were put in the low 20's and they were in shed. The humidity helps their shed skin soften and come off easily and if they can't do that they won't be able to grow and they will die. I expected these type of stores to at least be in the 50s but 20% is unacceptable. read more

this place is really nice, it's clean and very friendly. But when I saw this, I was completely shocked. Syrian hamsters or hamster"s in general are supposed to dominant, meaning that they can't be with other hamsters. They can literally abuse each other, to point where they can die. The hamsters I saw today were fighting for food and they were literally hitting each other and the white hamster was stressing out. It's so heartbreaking to see this. This place is an amazing pet store, but being a pet store you should be setting good examples to pet buyers. What if someone bought these 2, because they both were in the same cage.they would end up dying, or one of them would have been bullied by the other. Hamsters are not just toys, there real animals that breathe think and feel. My heart cries for them, the white one was completely stressing out and the cream coloured one was hitting it and moving it away from the food. Which is what they do since they're dominant. We originally came in for a pet adoption event which didn't go well because the ladies who were running the event weren't knowledgeable and rude. They're not a Petco employee but just throwing it out there. Anyways, back to Jonas. We were browsing the store before the event and my boyfriend randomly decided he wanted to get a fish tank. So we started looking at stuff and Jonas came to ask if we needed anything. Sure enough my boyfriend asked a few questions so he could get an idea of what kind of tank he wanted etc and Jonas was very helpful. We then went on to look at the fish and he helped us out and explained to us everything we needed to know and all the basic information on having a fish. We went back and I think he remembers us and gave us another amazing customer service. We live a little far from Anaheim Hills but we would still go back here just to see him and ask him questions about the fish. I hope Jonas get the recognition he deserves for being such a compassionate and gentle soul. He cares about the fish and the work he does which a lot of people don't who work in these types of stores.
