Petco is the only pet store I go to when I don't shop on Amazon as the staff at this location are always friendly professional The only draw back in this store is they need more staff , ie: when 10 people are lined up to check out at the checkout line and there's only one cashier, who not only checks them out but it's also handling the mobile orders and the other two or three employees are running around like they're losing their minds maybe the manager should step out and lend a hand or look into hiring more people or even delegate people when they see the line has gotten very large. Fortunately the cashier was very proficient and was able to give me out of there in about 15 minutes as I stood in line waiting for a pickup order. She did have a name tag on facing the wrong direction I probably would have gave her a shout out for working so hard but it was facing her so I couldn't see what her name was and she was way too busy to interrupt and ask. PetCo on Gosford is my favorite place to take my dog for training and grooming. They provide services that I can trust and always take care of Goose. My family and I have been taking him to PetCo since he was a puppy and it's helped him get used to grooming instead of being scared of it. We're also thankful for his training classes. His behavior at home is great and he follows commands well. I even taught him how to shake hands/paws with me! The recommendations that his trainer makes for his health and wellbeing (types of food, food bowls, dog park recommendations, etc.) are so helpful too. There are really good things about this location. There are really bad things about this location. Here are both: My kid won a goldfish at the fair. We wanted to get a tank so Goldie could be happy and healthy. Goldie got in the new tank and kicked the bucket...(swim bladder disease) now we have a new tank and need a new fish. The store associates were so knowledgeable and helpful!!!! Like they knew everything! We wanted to get some fish and they told us if the tank has not been up and running for like a week or two the fish will die. So we waited. We came back and got some small fresh water fish. They knew which ones would pay nice with the others and everything. It was great. Then..we came back to get even more fish and it took a really long time. Like an hour. The story was really busy and everyone was just grabbing anyone who was waking by and asking them for help. The associates looked stressed as heck but they did their best to help people. The bad part was there is no rhyme or reason to who they help. It's just every customer for themself. So if you walk in and wait to be helped you will wait all day and night and probably never get what you needed. I came 3 more times to get more fish and was walked by, looked at but not acknowledged, passed by but not helped. Each time I tried to be respectful and wait. I even asked the young lady working the register if someone would be able to help me out to which I was informed, they are busy but will get to me soon as they are done. If you come to this location and are getting what you need off a shelf you are in great hands, if it's not packed you will be taken great care of, if your pet is being groomed they will be ready for Westminster. And if you need fish bring a chair, food and drinks because you're in for a wait. Will I go back, probably yes but I just know that if 2 or more people are waiting I need to check my schedule and plan my day accordingly. read more

My husband has bought crickets here for our bearded dragon in the past, we've bought a hamster and a guinea pig in the past here. We really ever come here only to buy treats for our cats and our dog. My husband is more of a fan of Petsmart, but I refuse to drive there since Petsco is closer. Petsco does seem smaller, and their inventory is a bit less, but i love Petsco! Yesterday, we tried their grooming services for the first time. You can book appointments online for a few services, but I saw for nail trimming that they accept walk-ins. I love the openness of the grooming so that we, pet parents, can see our pets. The staff at the front were very friendly, especially Emily, who eventually was the one to take care of our Bella! Emily was patient and so kind, which is important to me when it comes to Bella since some people can be judgy when it comes to pitbulls. All we needed was proof of rabies vaccination. Always good experience, but tonight brought me here to rate. I went in 10mins to closing on a Friday just to quickly grab cat treats. On my way to register, an adorable hamster caught my eye. When everyone can come in and shop with their pets, it really helps keep the business thriving. Unlike places like Walmart and Target, which don't allow pets inside when you're buying dog or cat food, I prefer to shop at Petco. It's so much nicer to bring my dog along and enjoy our time there while picking up some good food for him. I bought a bearded dragon a few years ago. I've had them before and know how to care for them. She started to act just a bit off after having her for a few weeks, so I brought her in to their vet. They said they would keep me updated on her condition. After a couple days went by with no word, I went in person and asked for an update. I was essentially met with "oh yeah, she died. Sorry about that. We can give you your money back"??? Never got an answer as to what happened to her. But it was my mistake purchasing from there in the first place. I would give zero stars if I could. My sister brought in her cocker spaniel on Saturday to get a trim. The moment she brought her in she was insulted by the way she takes care of her dog. The groomer asked her if she brushed her, he told her that she was neglecting her dog *even though she is the most spoiled dog I have ever met* all because she had 3 nots *she has curly hair!* To add, he told her that she smelled like pee and had to wash her 3 times and the pee smell is still there! She didn't smell like pee and if she did a little it doesn't take 3 washes to get it out. If you all know what cocker spaniels look like you know they have longer fur. Well, this groomer shaved her down completely *even though my sister said a trim* and didn't even trim her properly because her fur is completely uneven. My sister was so shocked and horrified when she came in and got her! Worst groomers ever! Horrible experience and not even just the cut! It was the groomer who insulted her from the beginning. I came in after reading a few of the not so great reviews , so I wasn't expecting much . I was looking for food for my new shelter pup who of course has fancy tastes . I had no idea what to pick and there's so much food here it's easy to feel overwhelmed. I happened to find someone who worked there and asked for advice. Surprisingly she didn't steer me toward the expensive brands, she showed me the Petco brand whole hearted which not only is inexpensive, but has a ton of variety too. So i have 5 guinea pigs and a bunny and they eat a ton of hay. I ordered online for free same day pick up it was on sale for a great price and my son was just going to run in and grab it. He created his own acct easy put the hay in the cart i paid and it was done...or so i thought We waited and waited for our email that it was ready my son called the store figuring wow it shouldn't take 3 hours for them to get a bag of hay ready right? Well the first person he talked to was rude to him and just had a bad attitude and said they looked and it said it was in stock but they can't find any. Ok ummm the email that finally came said they couldn't locate it but someone from the store was going to call us and find it at a different store or come up with a resolution. No one called. My son called again and got a different person he told them we didn't get the product however the money was still taken out of my account. She told him idk who you talked to but we don't have that here and you won't be charged. No offer to look at the other store just basically your out of luck and the hold on ur bank acct will drop off in 24 hours. Well it's still not back in my acct and we had to go to petsmart to get the hay and pay more money. It sudden me to write this yelp, because my dog grew up here in this environment that I thought would be their forever home to their grooming , but the fact that I have brought my dog in all year to nearby locations and other locations and not once was marked down nor is there any tracking information for Any Of My Grooming Appointment is insane . The amount of money I've invested in this store alone on just dog, grooming and supplies. It's crazy. I hate the fact that they're marketing strategy is false advertising and when you call their actual direct line, they say differently than the store does... I've taken my dog here I'd say 6 times and every time it's awesome. This last time I took her they were going to charge me 98$$ for my dogs haircut which wasn't a problem. Usually they don't text me till it's time for her to get picked up but 15 mins after I get home I receive and text saying that I need to call the store ASAP. I call worried sick with someone on the phone letting me know my dog has a " rash" on her underside and they asked if I've seen it before or noticed her scratching or dragging. Which she DOESNT do. She then proceeded to tell me they can't finish the service and that they won't charge me anything mind you it was going to be 98$$! And now they're suddenly not charging me anything?? Which Seemed a bit suspicious to me. This is a review for grooming services and includes particular praise for Roger. We take two dogs here frequently. It's close to our house and they are good about seeing both dogs at the same time. They don't get haircuts but they get everything else done there. The dogs are always a little nervous to go but once they're in the groomers hands they do just fine. We have come to really like Roger as their groomer. Roger is patient, kind to us and the dogs, and is extremely intelligent about animals needs and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. He has pointed out a couple of things to us about the dogs and always provides great recommendations for preventative care and is honest about everything we may ask. The folks at reception area are always so kind and make it easy for us to get reminders for appointments, they don't try to upsale us but they do let us know our options. They are great to remind us about vet records and they are very throughout with communicating. We've never had any issues regarding payments or issues with our dogs. There have been a couple of knit picky things if another groomer misses it but they always take care of it and I can tell they work hard to make our pups comfortable and come home smelling good and fresh. I have no hesitation about bringing my dogs here. I know there are local groomers and people that go to your house, etc but for the price and the consistency we get here it's worth it to us! read more

The Petco on Rosedale is a lot closer to us and I like it there. Wanted a bit of a change and so we took our dog here to this Petco for some fun and shopping. I do not like how it is set up as much and the staff is not as helpful/friendly as the other location. My husband told me that the washroom here was filthy and I will spare you the details other than to tell you that it apparently does not look like it has been cleaned in many months. No cats to view at this location. Not many dogs came into the store this evening. :( I love to look at them all in their seasonal Xmas sweaters and jackets! Terrible, Zero stars!!! I dropped my dog off at 12. I have a small dog (30 lbs) they told me he would be ready by 3:30 pm. He wasn't ready at 4:20 pm because the person washing him took a lunch break and washed another dog etc. definitely not going back. Let me repeat that.
