She was super mean to my dog, there were cuts on his skin and she cut all his fur off including the top of his head where is supposed to stay on. Our family has been taking our 2 dogs for many years at Petco- Brentwood for grooming. The sad turnover for the groomers and a couple that are our favorites no longer work there and it has become a bit nerve wracking. Yesterday, 3/28/26, we brought in our 2 dogs for their regular bath and one of them for a clean yearly shave (and not her usual hair trim). The groomer named Christine completely just went off the rails and made such a huge blotchy uneven shave on my dog Pong. Although we forgot to let her know that Pong sprained her left back paw from few weeks prior, (she was fine and running around a week before her grooming appointment) she told my husband at the time of pick up that Pong kept wanting to sit down. I get that she could make an accident and did 1 strip. But oh no! She didn't stop there! She went crazy and completely shaved my Pong in several areas! And has now got bald areas!! I was absolutely furious and called her. Then she used the information against us about not telling her about Pong and her mild sprain weeks ago when she's already completely healed, running around and playing. See photos of how horrible it turned out. Please please do not use Christine for grooming! She may be good at trimming perhaps. But shaving to a short hair may not be a good idea. I took my Frenchie in for a checkup , in August ... AUGUST and it's damn near November ... and as of rn , we have not heard back ... So here's the messed up part of it all .... 2 stars. 1. For Autumn because she's amazing and gentle and takes her time with doggies you can tell she is very kind and loving with your pet. If you're going to trust someone trust her. 2. Because one of my dogs actually was groomed correctly. Other than that I am very disappointed I received a call from this location with no voicemail and no text follow up. I called back and they said every groomer was with a dog and they would call back. I ended up just showing up shortly after to realize only autumn was there working alone. When I first arrived to do my drop off there were at least 4 or more groomers there. One of my dogs "injured" himself in the crate. I don't know how much I believe this is true due to not getting a voicemail or call back from the location with any details on this. Due to this, I will no longer bring my dogs back to this location. Not notifying owners of an injury is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. The groomer Denis claimed to leave a voicemail which never happened. My dog was groomed on 06/16, and immediately upon coming home; I noticed his ear was extremely red. A few days later, I noticed his ears were scabbing, and his ears were bothering him. My poor dog is suffering in pain since Someone who had little patience or experience for grooming a dog's ear. Posey also came home with two fleas, and was flea free and ear pain free before going to Petco for a groom. Not the first time we have a bad experience with them. Store has a good selection and seems to always have what I need in stock. Christian is always very friendly and pleasant when I check out with him. However, I just visited the store to purchase a couple of items. While Christian was ringing up my items, who I assume is one of the managers was standing there and starting reprimanding him on something about how his phone number captures needs to improve and how "it's not hard". I didn't think it was appropriate to be having this discussion in front of me, especially mid checkout. Just seemed quite unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth that he couldn't wait 1 minute for me to finish my transaction on the pin pad, and didn't let Christian finish providing the positive customer service he typically does! TLDR - Vetco will trick customers into doing a follow up appointment only to charge you again. Avoid this place at all cost. I've been taking my dogs to Vetco for services such as vaccines or prescriptions drug because it is typically cheaper than visiting a local Vet. I was doing annual check ups for my dog. During the check up my dog's ear needed cleaning as there was a build up. So I agreed to get it done for around $200. They wanted me to bring our dog back as a follow up two week later to double check the procedure was good. Two weeks later I take my dog in for the follow up. I was expecting just a quick meeting with the Vet to check my dog's ear that the procedure was fine. But for some reason they were taking my dog's weight, asking all sorts of questions that you normally answer during an annual check up. The Vet checked my dog's earn and everything was fine. So I started heading to my car then I received a phone call from Vetco that there is a balance due for this follow up. Go back in to find out they were charging me $71 dollars for the follow up. They never mentioned that it would cost anything as this was just a follow up. Apparently they are going to charge me extra just to double check that they did the procedure correctly. I questioned that this was just a follow up and why would there be a charge? The person insisted that this is a check up and it doesn't cost as much as a standard check up. Doesn't make any sense at all. I won't be coming back here again. It is almost like a mechanic doing an oil change and telling customers to come back to double check that the oil isn't leaking then charging them again because they checked that it wasn't leaking. read more

Do not schedule to go here for your pets needs, the VETCO is completely unorganized and will waste your time, from the receptionist to the staffs. They will wait last minute to reschedule your appointment. Reception called me telling me my appointment will have to be changed because they're not staffed, however I had just talked to a staff member earlier the morning that told me my appointment was confirmed and their staffing issue was resolved, when I told her that she told me she'll call me right back, she did not indeed call me back and 4 hours later I get a call from another staff member trying to tell me they can not take me because there will be no staff and also blamed their system. Horrible communication between their staffing it seems and Seems they are not prepared to take care of anyone's pets either. My frustration is not that they are rescheduling me but is from multiple of their employees telling me different things. They could have gave an earlier noticed if they had already know their staffing was short and the receptionist should have called me back like she told me she would. If they are not able to do appointments past 4 o'clock they should stop putting it on their system. And if it was already discussed that it's their systems fault then when they see an appointment scheduled they should give notice asap. Not wait last minute. I should have read reviews first before booking my dogs first appointment for vaccination shots because it seems this happens often where they call you last minute to cancel your appointments. I took my puppy Shasta there a couple weeks ago ... but never again !!! I took her in for a exam and to get flea medicine. I have been doing at home vaccines. When I asked the Dr when to give certain ones she wouldn't even give me a date. In fact she shamed me for doing at home vaccines...and told me other people's puppy's have died from Parvo with home vaccines. She said she wasn't sure if it was the vaccines or not but they died. Then after she shamed me for at home vaccines she proceeded to pull out a giant brochure of how much their puppy packages were....she also told me all the vaccines I did were not going to work. I called my normal vet after and they gave me the information I needed ...without shaming me. read more

I've been in there only 2 times and of those two times I was in line A whole line was being helped before both times we got up to the front end like I said two of two times the workers have walked off and left us for the next worker. We just pushed it off the first time as if they were busy and needed to do something but by the second time you've done this to me I'm starting to think it's something else. VETCO! Doctor who attended us: Dr. Darlene Casuga We drove from Redwood City, CA, to Brentwood, CA that's about an hour and 40 minute drive with our sick cat. Our appointment was at 3:30pm and we didn't leave until after they closed at 6pm...The only reason we came this far was because our local Vetco didn't have any appointments until 2 weeks from now. If I would have known this was going to happen I would have never come here. The way we were treated was horrible. I'm coming in with my sick cat to get help not to be treated like I'm a horrible cat mom, lied to and taken advantage of. When the doctor came in and was checking him for fleas when she got down to his lower back she said "Oh yeah he's definitely infested with fleas" "you have an infestation in your home" My stomach dropped....I am really good at giving all my cats flea medicine every few months. It didn't accrue to me to actually check him because I was so worried about him being sick at that moment. When it was time to get bloodwork done the two nurses who were drawing his blood repeatedly kept saying "He is severely hydrated" over and over and over again. To the point where I just wanted to say "Enough" it very much felt like they were implying I wasn't giving my cat water. They didn't really directly speak to me they were indirectly speaking to me by talking to my cat...which I haven't dealt with that kind of behavior before. I work 10 hours daily and when I'm home I make sure my cats are taken care of. At that point we were already there for 2 hours. We saw many dogs coming and going. That's when I decided to check my cat for fleas and yes my cat does have a lot of dandruff but I did not see one egg or flea on his body. When the doctor came back in I addressed this matter head on and she then changed her story to "I saw one or two" not what she said earlier which was "He's infested" she tried to explain what the word "infested" means to her over what it means to me. I let her say what she had to say. At this point I felt like I was getting played into paying a much higher bill than what I needed which is what ended up happening anyway. She then pulled out this little plastic Covid like looking test and said that my cat tested positive for Leukemia and AIDS my heart broke into a million pieces. She then went on to say that this test is accurate and that she even did it twice and both came back positive. Added more test and labs to the bill. She said she would come back in to explain the care we would need to give our cats moving forward. When she did come back she only cracked the door open and said she was leaving for the day that the nurse would give us the medication and check us out. When I got home at 8:30pm, I checked all my cats for fleas again I did not find any. But they already took the 813 dollars from me. Today the nurse did call though and told us that our cat in fact did NOT have Leukemia and AIDS. He only has a Respiratory Infection... THEN the doctor calls and she says no it's actually Herpes...Make it make sense...not a single apology or taking up any accountability for the trauma she has caused. The emotional damage that caused us and my family I did not sleep the whole night, cried my eyes out for not only my sick cat but also for my 2 other cats. I have to be up at 3am to go to work I was a mess at work today. I didn't eat since 7am yesterday. The anger I feel towards this doctor and nurses and this Vetco... I can't even put into words. My sister passed away not that long ago and this only triggered my PTSD to the max. How can you do take advantage of people's animals, emotions and money. That's a whole other level of shallow, shady and cruel. How do you people sleep at night. Not good people, and not a good place for your animals. Please don't come here. Evan was very patient, helpful, and friendly. He helped answer all my many questions regarding my tank. He did not seem annoyed at all, and made me feel comfortable asking questions. He saved me some money, letting me know about the current promotions. He seemed to truly care about my tanks, and about animal care. He offered great recommendations for my tank. It seemed like he may have been a manager, based off his knowledge, care, and overall (positive) attitude. Coming from a retail manager of 7 years, that is exactly the type of person who should be managing. He's going places. Most of all, I appreciated his patience. I shared with him my experience at a local competitor, and he ensured me that at this location I would not have that problem and validated my concerns (without speaking a single bad thing of the other location). I initially came in for a single snail, and 2 shrimp, and left with some additional fish to better suit my needs! I just needed something to help clean the algae and he told me about the Chinese algae eaters. I would've never thought to get them. I'm grateful he wasn't pushy about making a sale but was genuinely caring about my fish needs. I expressed how I wanted a large population of shrimp and snails, and he helped out with that! I will definitely be coming back to this Petco to get help for all my fish, and leopard gecko needs. There's not many pet stores in the area that offer great service, and I'm so grateful to have come across this location. I usually make the trip out to the Walnut Creek Petco, but I'm happy to have found this one close to home. Thanks to Evan, we will be converting all of our business to this location. My experience this evening was honestly more disappointing than anything else. the two girls at the Register were more in tuned with each other conversation about their coworker that didn't say "hello" to red head with tattoos. I mean how RUDE of them right?! No, what is rude is the girl at the register MICHELLE was clearly not paying attention and TRIED to charge me twice for cat litter that was not worth $36. I was only buying one bag of litter by the way. But that's besides the point. How RUDE of me to cut their conversation short because I had to buy something for my pet. What was ALSO rude was her tossing my receipt on the counter and trying to flick it at me rather than try and hand it to me like a civilian person. I get it you want to go home it was 15 minutes til closing, but if you aren't going to be doing client services correctly then maybe you should have not got into the business. Petco injured my dog. Monday I took my dog to get a bath and haircut. We walked in he was excited to be there. We waited to get greeted. To my surprise the lady had an extremely nasty attitude. That should have been my first red flag, but people are human right. I told her that we just went walking so he will be one of her best clients. A few hours later I come to pick him up. She tells me my dog likes to sit a lot and had a hard time getting his back legs but she got it all trimmed. She carried my dog to me and I carry him outside and put his lash on and he could not move his back legs to walk to the car. I'm thinking maybe he is exhausted. I get home and he is literally dragging his back. I go back when they open the next day and they have no answer as well as no cameras footage. When i checked I noticed that couples of nails were not trimmed. I called the store asking to fix it, they said that they going to charge me for this service. I said it is their fault, but they said they going to charged me for all 20 nails, while i need to cut only 2 of them. The manager was very rude, and said that it is how it is. This rating is for VETCO. I have been here before with one of my dogs and decided to keep them as our regular vet since our last couple of visits have been ok. I scheduled a new puppy visit for our 2nd dog and the 1st visit I mistakenly scheduled it with the vaccine clinic only which was online which is something new since I last came in a few months ago. The girl at the front desk was not welcoming at all both times but booked us an appointment same day to see the Dr then comes back and says the Dr had an emergency. So she rescheduled a 2nd appointment a week later. So I show up to our 2nd appointment and she again very hesitant brings me into a room and asks if I made the appointment for a check up - like really?! It's a new puppy exam how hard can that be! She then says to me that the vaccine clinic gave him an exam and she was trying to save me 75.00 - the point of this new puppy appointment was to get him situated with a doctor for regular check ups and anything else we'd need- if I wanted to save myself 75.00 I wouldn't of booked the appointment.. the doctor and this assistant/front office girl need training and etiquette to be working in customer service and if they want to keep or get new clients. I have yet to get her name and the doctor that was scheduled to see my puppy. I wonder if he/she even knows that this girl just made them loose 4 dogs as patients/clients. I waited over 15 minutes to even be acknowledged at the counter and have my dog checked in. 3 1/2 hours later I get a call from her and she was very rude. When I picked up my dog, the haircut was not done and she said she did not feel comfortable even trying. She blamed my dog for not finishing the service and did not even apologize or try to reschedule me with someone else. Omg! My 16 week old puppy was given the WRONG vaccination in the WRONG route. They injected an oral med in my puppy's leg and gave me some (free) antibiotics and pain medication for treatment at home and didn't charge me for the visit. 5-star customer service, until you meet the Veterinarian, who probably deserves 1-star just because she showed up for work. We're in for a vaccination, again, the staff were great. But the energy just changed and she totally gave us a weird look and vibe. The way she interacts with us, her patient's (dog) family exudes impatience and we're nice folks, I promise. I'm starting to venture a guess that she's unhappy and rushed, and it shows. Or could it be the color of our skin? Hmmm... Also, there's temperature and heart rate but not a second was spared to our pet and there's supposed to be some assessment involving lymph nodes, teeth, ears...etc. hmmm, nope, none of that happened. So, if you're going here for the Vetco, hope that you'll be met with a different Vet. For grooming services read pictures for more context. I'll keep updated if anything is resolved as of right now no solution has been made for this location. I was told I'd still be overcharged for services not performed and vital care discount will still not be honored for future visits. Update: They removed the pictures in which stated the entire situation as it was reported due to not following yelp guidelines all though it was just pictures of my lengthy review. Short version is the salon and store manager refused to honor my vital care discount and refused to discount services in which weren't performed and only offered a refund and stated " I will only do it this one time for future we will not be doing it" as in the past I've never had a issue with them applying my discount and discounting services in which weren't performed. I was not told by the groomer and made to believe all services were performed except for nail trimming in which I told the groomer not to perform in the beginning of the services. In the past they've always told me what they couldn't do. When I noticed it wasn't done I went in and asked for the notes on the grooming session in which they told me he only got a bath and brushing nothing else when asked why I wasn't informed the salon manager stated " well it's in the notes" I was charged $65 for full services in which I didn't receive. I contact corporate in which they informed me they will be properly training the staff on how to charge/discount for services in which weren't performed and how to apply the vital care discount. As the salon and store manager were both incorrect and you are not suppose to be charged for services in which weren't performed and vital care discount should be applied whether a package was chosen or not. For people who go here to get groomed I would clarify and ask what was done prior to leave and going to the register to pay to make sure you were charged accurately. As I was told by the store manager all the discounts in which I received in the past was them not following store policy and have since then got new staff and management. However, the new staff and management are the ones not following policy as corporate insists you should not be charged for services not performed and vital care discount needs to be honored. read more

Google low cost spay/neuter near me and they came up. Scheduled examination appointment which is required prior to neuter. After being here for over an hour they hit me up with a bill of over $400 !! This is prior to next appointment which would be the actual neuter and estimate that appointment would be anywhere from $442 to $767.....
