My family has been to this location as well as the one in Clayton, CA and both of them are great. The staff is always very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They make it a pleasant experience to shop there. The only potential downside would be that it is pricey. If you are looking for cheap pet food this is not the place. It's been worth the money for us, as we can tell how healthy and happy our dog is with the quality treats and food he gets. I always bring my own shampoo though because sometimes the shampoo they provide hardly comes out. So I suggest to bring your own. The employees are always helpful. Self wash is so convenient and they have all the necessary tools. We were driving in from LA SF bound and stopped by to bathe the pups. My only complaint would be their automatic shampoo dispenser doesn't dispense shampoo that well and seems like your just rinsing pet in water. You're better off bringing in your own pet shampoo and conditioner. read more

Took my two pugs in to get a wash. This was our first time at there self wash facility. We got tired of cleaning the mess in the shower at home. What a wonderful experience. 3 different types of soap and a blow dryer. Super convenient and easy. Pretty inexpensive at $15 dollars for a token. One token I was able to wash both pugs. I will definitely take them back again! I also needed to buy a new leash for one of my pugs. I was helped by a nice girl who gave my dog some treats. I wish I remembered her name!! read more

We became aware of this pet store because on weekends they host the VIP pet care service that provides needed vaccines at a fraction of the cost than vet doctors charge. The overall feel is pleasant and my wife really likes the healthy food options. I noticed a pet cleaning area but haven't used it yet as our corgi is still too young and small anyways. We think the owner is always there because he is an older man who is always available to help and fills in anywhere he sees a need. Longtime Pet Food Express (PFE) customer - today was my first time bringing my dogs to the self wash station. I had to bring one at a time because they're a handful. I was presently surprised to receive the first wash complimentary. ALL of the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and provided so much information. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant and positive experience. I ended up purchasing additional items at each trip. I am not one to leave bad reviews, but this situation warrants one, so here it is. We have been coming here to bathe our dog for the last 8 years. Unfortunately, today will be the last time we bring her here. The customer service is not as good as it used to be. I always asked for an extension on the dryer because I have a husky-shepherd, and the time to dry such a massive body and fur is just not enough. Previous staff have always been gracious and let us have the extension because it's not like we take up all 25 minutes of the drying time; we just need a little bit of extra time, maybe 5-10 minutes max. Today, when I politely asked for an extension, the staff came back with a coin and said, "We're going to give you this coin, but this is the last time, because according to my manager, you should have been more prepared." I was taken aback by this response. "Should have been more prepared?" What does that even mean? I have my own shampoo that I bring with me; I literally only use their facility, towels, dryer, and water. Twenty-five minutes for $18... She proceeds to tell me that next time I should use my own coin to extend the dryer, meaning spending another $18 for a 5-10 minute extension, because if she lets me do this, then that means they have to let everyone else do it. That does not even make sense because it's not like all the customers need an extension; it just so happens that my dog is huge and the 25-minute limit is simply not enough. Anyway, very disappointing staff and management. I don't know if they've recently changed managers, but if they did, it's not being managed well. Hence, we won't be coming back. read more

Hat's off to Pet Food Express of Brentwood. Sad to say that the experience I had there today was RARE! I told the owner I was on a mission for an abandoned kitten. She walked me around helping me gather everything I needed for a stray kitten that would travel a bit to her new home. She gave me a few toys toys and some treats, gave some suggestions on a travel litter box (then gave me the boxes to use)....Honestly, I should not have been surprised, we should all give and get this kind of customer service, but I just don't see a whole lot of it these days and found myself "surprised". Ordered online and waited almost 10 minutes for the "online order captain" to find my order and bring it out. It would have been faster to get the items from the shelf myself. I would order from you on a weekly basis if you delivered to Oakley. Went to the Antioch store today after a terrible experience at Petco trying to get my dog washed. The lady at Pet Food Express, whom I think was the manager, was fantastic. She recognized my distress from my experience at Petco and totally took care of me. Walked me through the whole wash experience as I had never done it before. Visited the Antioch East location yesterday to find a dog house for my five-year-old who loves to lounge outside most of the day. Instantly greeted by Troy, who had a great attitude and was very knowledgeable. He helped me retrieve the exact dog house I was looking for. Troy was very personable and actually suggested trails and hiking locations that my dog might like, which was awesome because I've been trying to find more activities for her to do. He was then kind enough to help carry the dog house to the car after ringing me up. This store is always clean, employees are knowledgeable and hands down they best customer service. I have been going there for years. I don't have too many complaints. Except for one, they never have collars and leashes in stock. I'm not sure if people steal them or the just can't keep them on the shelves. They almost always have a deal and with a membership card you are always getting $$ towards a purchase or a free item. I bought a new dog food. I keep trying different brands because my dog is over weight and has allergies! The over weight part is my fault! They have so much to choose from and are constantly adding new brands.
