Second time over the weekend I was pretty clear with why I was wanting for the cut. Leave the length in her leg warmers and trim the rest of the body down. Shape the tail. Well I got her back with almost no leg warmers and butt cheeks... a bit upset because I got her groomed for wedding photos. It was a different groomer this more recent time from the first. Groomer justification was "just removing the damage...". But that's not what I asked. Especially if it meant the leg warmers being completely chopped.

In their short lives (21 mths), this was their 3rd mobile groomer. At the 2nd one, they seemed to be in shock and acted very strangely for hours afterward. I was concerned that whatever happened would affect the 1st appointment w McKenna. It didn't! McKenna was warm and inviting and both pups went to her fairly easily. When she was leaving, they were ready to follow her. Even the 1st groomer who they loved did not result in the same reaction. I highly recommend McKenna and we will be continuous customers. She did an excellent job AND my pups were happy!

I usually groom my dogs myself, but I've been sick and unable to do it lately. I was hoping to find someone reliable to start handling their baths on a regular basis. I have back issues, which is why I stopped professionally grooming to begin with. The first thing they asked was if I'd been there before. I said no, I would be a new customer. Then they immediately asked what breed my dogs were. I told them the truth: they're purebred English Staffordshire Bull Terriers. The response? "Oh, you could've just said pit bulls -- it's okay." First of all, no -- they are not pit bulls. They are English Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Pitbulls and Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not the same breed. Right after that, I was told, "Well, we're not taking new clients anyway." Interesting. Because if that were true, wouldn't you have said that the moment I said I was a new customer? It's obvious what really happened -- you heard the breed and assumed they were pitbulls. This is classic breed discrimination. You judged my dogs without knowing anything about them. The truth is, they're two of the sweetest, most well-behaved, trained dogs you could ever meet. They've been getting groomed since they were tiny puppies and love being pampered. But because of your prejudice, you turned away two perfect clients. Call it what it is: dog racism and ignorance. If you're going to work in this field, at least educate yourself on breeds.

I have asked her to watch my pups for both mid-day walks and while I am on vacation. I never had to worry as she is completely trustworthy and reliable. I really love the reports that she leaves after each visit. Typically, she has taken them on a quick walk, refilled water bowls and provided treats.
