We took our dog Tyson to get his nails trimmed and a bath like we have in the past. After 15 minutes my husband was called to pick him up because they said he tried to bite the groomer. Tyson came back home very lethargic. My husband took him back around three and watched as they cut his nails, but that was all they are willing to do. After my husband brought him back he started bleeding from the nose. We know he has allergies so we thought maybe that was the case but after 12 hours of bleeding, we took him to the emergency room. After $2500 of bloodwork and two nasal scopes they told us he had sustained trauma to his head. I believe when he was picked up to put on the table, she dropped him and that's when they asked us to come and get him. The emergency room gave a sedatives so he could rest and allow his brain to heal. This is such a heartbreaking experience that they will never be accountable for.

Quality/Quantity - Good. Current promotion - $15 off $75; ends 7/7/24. See picture. Atmosphere - Decent size location. See pictures of all the departments. Open 7 days a week from 9am or 10am to 7pm or 8pm. Plenty of mall parking. Service - 5 stars. Greeted when I walked in and I got offered help. I declined as I wanted to take my Yelp pictures first, lol. My wife came in at a separate time and got help from the same person. She is awesome; I should have gotten her name. Price - Above average, but that is the cost for speciality and service. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1965 and with your 1500+ locations.

Great location with plenty of parking and a friendly staff. It's a large store with a huge assortment of everything for your pet. Mrs. E. bought several of these Betta fish for holiday gifts she is making. Wouldn't ya know one of the little guys goes belly-up the night we're assembling everything. Problem is she bought them in Reno. They told us we have a 30 day warranty in the event...well, you know. But we're still looking at another drive there from south Carson. Long story short, we called Becca at the Carson City location and she had no issues with replacing the fish. Just bring in the receipt. Nice since the store is a mile from our castle. This isn't the first time these folks have bailed us out. We always receive sage advice, too. Whether it's a question in need of an answer or a product we need to locate, this has become our go-to pet store. 12/19

I was in with my daughter today, we were adopted by a Dusky Conure who was called "Spike". Lisa took a lot of time to help introduce us, she was kind and patient and clearly the birds love her. The employees are amazing- they work hard to socialize the birds in their care, so much so that the birds hardly take any time to adjust to their owners. They're not afraid of human hands. It's difficult to keep parrotlets from stress, and their feathers are usually the first visible casualty on a stressed bird, but this lovey is healthy and beautiful. Cole also spent time with us when we were paying, he had a conure up at the register with him (that my sun conure who comes with me had a great conversation with). This is a beautiful example of how much and how well they socialize the birds. Everyone is always friendly and helpful, and they deserve to be celebrated for that, but the way they care for the birds is above and beyond anything I could have asked for. They're doing so much more than the basics, purely out of love for the animals. Thank you from all of us. "Spike" is Nephrite now, and we love him. We will see you soon!

Kicked out of rhe store an hour and half before they close because they he didn't want to help us GOOD JOB BLAIN

We were struggling under the guidance of another trainer, we really weren't seeing results and so we decided to take another course. I'm so thankful we switched because Carlena has helped us tremendously. We (my husband and I) had actually discussed the possibility of not being able to keep our (now) sweet and amazing girl because she was so difficult to train and was very bite-y with our young children. We worried that we had gotten ourselves into more than we could handle with the breed, what an awful feeling because having a GSD was our dream! We did Carlena's 6 session day training course and Reya was noticeably better after day 1, I kid you not! After 6 full days of e collar training, she is so much calmer, affectionate, obedient, just all around a huge improvement. She walks so much better, isn't biting all the time, she knows several super important commands, she's on her way to being safe off leash, and more. Now let me tell you, we were NOT for e-collar training, we were brainwashed into thinking it was cruel. Well you know what's cruel, giving up a dog that could have been easily and gently trained by using an e collar. This was the road we were headed down with a dog that we now are 100% devoted to. I have tried the e collar on myself, even let my 6 year old son try it when he asked. E collars save lives and relationships, and I mean that in terms of dogs and humans. I cannot recommend Frog Dog enough! We will continue to work with Carlena and look forward to our sweet Reya excelling in being a super awesome dog and amazing companion for our family.

As a large pit mix I'd rescued, these issues were super demoralizing and we were scared Bo would someday hurt someone, despite our constant vigilance. Plus his world had gotten super small because I couldn't trust taking him to the places we used to hang in public. Anyway, after the meet and greet we went with a moderate board and train program. And then it didn't start as smoothly as we all hoped. Not because of their team, Bo was just more aggressive and reactive than he'd displayed during the meet and greet. Was it disappointing - absolutely, but most important was Stand Proud were having the difficult conversation with us about what Bo needed. We all came up with a plan that set Bo up for success, and they made sure it was something we were comfortable with. Since then, it's been a journey, but the results are remarkable and they've been so invested in his success. He's got a strong grasp on place and sit until released, and even off-leash skills and recall. He's also much more comfortable regulating himself and waiting for guidance when he's unsure. We're so much more confident and proud of the goofball. Thanks Stand proud team!

Taking him for a walk was a struggle as no amount of coaxing would keep him from pulling. The biggest problem was that his fear of other dogs would have him acting defensively. This often led him to him pulling us to the ground. Taking him for a walk was an ongoing challenge to which we adapted and accepted. After 4 years of living amicably with our other older bulldog, Vinnie began to be aggressive towards him. We were on the verge of turning him over to the Humane Society and then we found Danielle, Brandon and their team. The fee for their services and the length of time Vinnie would be away caused us to be reluctant to book their services. A few phone conversations and emails led us to an evaluation appointment at their home and facility in Fernly. Brandon and Danielle spent more than hour explaining everything to us. They both exhibited the qualities we look for in any professional. They presented their background explained their program clearly and simply, and answered all our questions. We had conserns about their training tools but were reassured with Brandon's detailed explanation. They have a large air conditioned kennel with spacious cages, large fenced in yard bordering a large open space. The staff we met were friendly. They were absolutely clear that their residential training is all about building a foundation and that success is dependent on how well we do our job as dog owners. We then observed one of local classes they provide all around Reno/Sparks. The trainer at the class exhibited all of the same qualities we saw in the owners. The dogs in the class were incredibly well behaved. We then booked a 4 week board and train program. When we picked up Vinnie, his behavior had improved 1,000%. Abby, his superb trainer spent 3 hours with us explaining what they did and walking us through what we needed to be doing moving forward. Brandon came by our house about a week later and spent over an hour with us answering our questions and reinforcing the guidance from Abby. Upon taking him home, he has not exhibited any aggression towards our other dog and our walks are more controlled and pleasant. With board and train you are able to attend classes for up to a year. We are excited to attend our first class with Vinnie soon. While we do not expect everything to be perfect, everyone's life has improved, We are grateful to the Stand Proud team and highly recommend them.

For decades Guy Yeaman has been offering affordable obedience classes through Northern Nevada…read morecities park and rec. Like other trainers, he has his own style, but certainly  knows what he's doing, and he makes a point of  keeping his classes at a low cost. He  does something I suspect no other trainer in Northern Nevada does: after paying for the initial 6 classes participants can  return FOR FREE as often as they wish until death do the dog part. And here's what I've learned about dog training: It's kind of like learning to play the piano, You can have the best instructor in the world, but it comes down to how often and for how long the owners train their canines on a weekly basis when they are not in class. Guy understands this, which is why he allows owners to return as much as they'd likeand why he spends so much time educating dog owners as part of his courses.     In the class I took,  Guy not only had students practice the basics with our canines - come, sit, stay, etc. but he was a wealth of knowledge who taught me a lot about how dogs think, behave, how to properly take care of them, etc He is a walking/talking dog whisperer.  Point in case: in the summer he talked about how to determine whether pavement is too hot for dogs to walk on, something the dogs aren't going to be able to communicate, and it's information like this I find useful.  We had a talk in class about using dog booties and  how to keep dogs cool (buy a baby pool for your backyard).  I would have never thought about this on my own.  And when my dog started digging holes in my backyard, Guy had an answer for how to fix that as well.  As a first time puppy owner, I had a lot of questions. When my dog stopped eating for a few days, I called Guy before going to the pricey vet. Guy always stayed after each class to address any individual issues an owner had, as most group dog obedience courses tend to be big.  Some say he's a big talker, which he is, but I find his information educational.  He will spend enormous amounts of time on the phone  addressing individual issues. He has gone with me to the pet store to advise me on what things to buy. He has come to my house for a private lesson,  stayed 90 minutes, but only charged me for 60. When I was injured in a car accident and could not walk nor take care of my dog, he came and picked him up and took him to his house where he not only took care of my dog,  but trained him at his home as well. Other kennels and dog-sitting companies charge a fortune for this boarding-training service and I doubt anyone is  providing door to door service, or at least they would charge extra for this. His fees were more than reasonable and he didn't charge for the pick-up/drop-off. And it's not just me. Guy treats all of his clients with the same dedication, so I'd recommend him without hesitation, whether it's for training purposes in a group setting, or with a private lesson at your home, which I found useful, because he showed me things like how to keep my dog from jumping on my bed,  something you can't learn in a class. He had all the members of my family participate in the at-home training so we all got to practice and learn.

Eight…read moreweeks ago, I was sobbing because I was afraid I may have to give up my beloved mutt, Cupcake. Now? She is the best possible version of the dog I always believed she could be. Before training, Cupcake was sweet and loving with my family, but uncontrollably reactive to outsiders. She would dash out the door to chase people walking by. I couldn't walk her because if she saw someone across the street, she would lunge and bark and lose her mind. It was humiliating and dangerous, and I was terrified she would bite someone. I hired a purely positive trainer last year. Cupcake wouldn't work with her. She just stared and refused to move. No amount of treats would convince Cupcake to walk a step, and it eventually felt like she only stopped barking in terror long enough for me to stuff more chicken in her face. At the trainer's suggestion, I talked to my vet about medication. Medication got me a dog that was both stoned and reactive. Finally, the trainer gave up, suggesting more drugs, more chicken, and more of the same. After a few months of increasing medication without any behavioral improvement, I realized that I needed to do something to help Cupcake or we were going to lose her. I knew she could be a great dog because she was sweet and loving with us. I just had no idea how to help Cupcake or manage her behavior. Enter Sean. Immediately, he was unphased by Cupcake's reactive tantrum. Sean just exuded confidence--of course he could help us; of course I could have a dog who behaves. His confidence helped me be confident. Cupcake's behavior began to improve during our first training session. You could see the gears turning in her head as she began to sort out what was expected of her. Soon, Sean had us practicing in public--taking her to dog friendly stores. Sean provided constant, regular feedback and coaching, teaching me to be a better trainer for my own dog. I felt like I was able to communicate expectations to Cupcake in a way I couldn't before. Her training was overwhelmingly positive, but Sean gave me the tools I lacked to correct Cupcake when needed. Eventually, I took Cupcake back to a park where we had once attempted a miserable walk while she lunged and barked at every passerby. This time? She walked and sat and practiced "down" while completely ignoring everyone around us. In consultation with her vet, I've been weaning her off her medication. She's a happier and healthier dog, and she's no longer stoned off her face. I feel confident taking her places, so she gets to live a more full life and I get to enjoy the dog I always wanted. Hiring KoruK9 and Sean was the best decision I could have possibly made for Cupcake and I. I'm confident in my ability to help her progress even further, and I'm also confident that I can  better introduce any future dogs into our family and avoid the issues we developed with Cupcakes. I cannot say enough good things about Sean, and would recommend him and KouK9 without hesitation to anyone whose dog needs training or behavior modification.
