I just took my labradoodle for a bath. we have been several times before without issue and the people who work there are very nice and helpful. However this time, the water suddenly turned dangerously hot and scorched my dog about 5-10 minutes into his bath. He screamed and cried in pain. I turned off the water and got him out as fast as I could.....while he was cowering from fear of the hot water. It was absolutely horrific. The lady in the next stall washing her dog also announced her water also turned extremely hot suddenly and stated, "what the hell." Apparently there are currently no safety measures to prevent the water from turning dangerously hot. We won't be washing our dogs there again. read more

Love this pet store. Every time I go in there, the Owner is awesome. Very knowledgable. I have a picky dog, she always wants people food. Uggghh. Not me, the previous owner fed her nothing but meat bones. She's a really lazy 6lb Chihuahua, my world. Love her. I found out today that the dog food I was feeding her has crappy stuff in it. Grr. I stopped by today and the guy , young kid, forgot his name, told me about many dog foods. I settled on Grandmalucys all natural dog food. I'm so excited, he said money back guarantee too. When I first discovered this store I was delighted to see they carried salt water fish and corals, they are not easy to find in the area. First let me say the staff has always been very nice to deal with, I do not know if what happened is store policy or store management trying to save money but here is what happened and it's why I will never go there again. I run three 100 gallon marine tanks and one 29 gallon biocube as a marine tank.. I have over 80 different varieties of coral... Some very easy to care for, some are hard at times.. I sometimes buy refrigerated Food for some of my critters... This food is very expensive to buy and I always look at the expiration date before purchasing. Last time I went to this store I needed liquid food.. There are two I usually buy and they cost roughly 60.00 together, I went to check the expiration date... The ink had been rubbed off but you could still see the date stamp.. The food expired in 2014, I'm sorry but I'm not buying food for my expensive corals and fans that has been expired for 2 years... I do not know where they got this food.. I have purchased there before and have seen stuff out of code.. But only out of code by a couple of months (I still didn't buy it) I told the lady at the register about it.. She didn't seem concerned.. I will now get into the why I won't be back, I can source the food else where (Reno) I have spent hundreds of dollars on corals from this store, every single one has died, it it because they were feeding expired foods? I do not know.. I have tons of different types of corals easy to hard keepers I have purchased from other sources... They are thriving and I even been fragging some. I can only think maybe they feed this expensive expired food rather than discarding it.. It's a shame, these are living creatures who deserve the best care, I was really up set over every coral death that occurred .. If it's not the expired food, maybe they need to check their supplier... It can take weeks for a coral to die... It's awful to see and worse trying everything possible to save them and they still die... read more

This is a wonderful establishment. They have pretty-much everything you could want in the way of dog supplies and they seem to have a large selection of products in non-dog areas, as well. We shop there often for salt water fish, corals, dog food and small pet supplies for our prairie dogs. Unlike another reviewer's comments, we've never had a problem with them selling us expired liquid food or pods....And we've spent a fair amount of money in that store on food, fish, corals, etc. for our salt water tanks. Carissa orders pods for us every 2 weeks, as our 150 gallon reef has a large goby population, who depend on a healthy supply of tigger pods to thrive. All of the corals, invertebrates and fish we've purchased from pet station have been super healthy and are continuing to thrive in our reef and fish only salt water tanks. The staff (Jessica, Carissa and Brandy) are all very knowledgeable and care about all of the animals under their care. It's great having a dependable, local store with a good selection of corals and salt water fish. They always have a good selection of some rather hard to find fish. read more

I'm really trying to like this place, and 3 stars may be pushing it. Selection is great, service has me concerned. On a visit after a power outage, I see a battery pump that would work for me, and come back to following week to buy it. They are out, I ask about ordering, they do some research, and call to tell me they can not find any pump like what I saw in their store earlier. Hhmmm....... On 10-7-14, I go in to buy some fish, and what do I see on their shelves? The same pump I asked about earlier. Buy it, get home, and later that night, take it out of box to make it tank ready. Mind you, on the box, it CLEARLY states contents "pump, tubing, air stone", yet when I open the box, no tubing or stone. Go in to store on 10-8, point this out to employee, and her replay was "hhmmm, didn't notice that before. We do sell stones and tubing". I don't want to buy what I'm told is included. So now I have to wait for the manager's call, who happened to be the person that sold me the pump, to get this rectified. I'll post after her decision..... UPDATE--- Got a call, was told tubing/stone were in battery compartment, found them, and agreed that it is an "interesting" spot to put them. Either way, the time/call are very appreciated to correct this, which led me to bump up my rating to 5 stars.... read more
