I had been going to PetSmart for about a year for my Cavapoos grooming. I decided to switch it up and try Petco. The cost seemed to be about the same. We walked in and I noticed a lot of dry pee spots throughout the store an a LOT of barking as we neared the Groomers. I was starting to be a little hesitant to drop him off but after waiting in line a good 8 minutes or so, we both calmed down a bit. I made an appointment online for the brush n bath and knew the price was going to be about $80. I told the gentleman at the front that my pup also needed his nails cut bad and he upsold me on the Essentials plus. (They really do try and upsell here and will try to get you to do the membership package and bill you every month.) My total grooming was $93 but let me tell you it was THE BEST GROOM my pup has ever had!! His fur is so soft (even after a week) Bailey did the best job. I don't want my pup to loose his curls so I just like him to be air dried. I've requested this before at Petsmart an he was given back to me damp with no real type of cut what so ever! I made a appt several days before my appt time even talked to customer service rep for ease of appt an specifics of what i was needing --arrived Early to find out they had canceled my appt but failed to tell me. I just finished up a 6 week puppy training with Christina at the PetCo in Cedar Hill, Texas. My words do not adequately describe the extraordinary puppy trainer Christina is for pet parents like myself. She cleared up a lot of gray areas I had about "how to train my German Shepherd puppy ". I am so grateful I took the time to learn and apply the methods she taught me and Bella. Going forward, I feel much more confident and comfortable training Bella and I owe it to Christina. Came in Saturday to get dog food for my new baby and it was pallets of food everywhere couldn't move around with my basket. I was told it would be like that for a few days. I wish I could give zero stars. It broke my heart to see the condition of the animals in this location. I brought my son here one afternoon because he loves to look at the fish. While there I started to notice a trend in the poor living conditions of the animals. To begin, the ferrets were covered in poop! It was all over their fur, faces, feet, containment walls, flooring, etc. The smell was atrocious! And the poor ferrets had no access to water. The container was empty and had fallen down from the animals trying to get something to drink. Second, I saw multiple dead fish. I took 3 photos of dead fish to show you, but there were even more. So sad. And... The tanks were filthy. Lastly, I saw 4 workers there. All were young, but not interested in doing their job from what I could see. One male employee was walking around the floor, but not sure what exactly he was doing. And there were three young ladies all standing behind the register counter and all playing on their phones. It was sad to see their lack of concern for the animals who they are literally getting paid to care for. I hope this review doesn't get ignored, and that management rectifies this because I would hate for more animals to lose their lives. read more

I went to petco in cedar hill tx off fm1382 to purchase turtles. I was not allowed to purchase the turtles because I wouldn't purchase the tank from the store. It's not on the tank doors and it was not explained that I had to purchase the tank before I buy the turtles when I called to see if the turtles were in stock. It's sad you can't buy your children pets anymore. If this is not a rip off the turtles 30.00 and the tanks 150.00 .this was the worst experience I ever had. I will never go to petco again. This is so sad that everything is all about a dollar and you can't purchase small pets anymore. read more

Horrible service from Vetco at Petco. Starting from getting there no one was at reception. Took 10 minutes for someone to just come and get me check in. Appointment was at 2:30 the Dr didn't check in on us until 3:30. The room assigned to us had no air working. It was extremely hot and I have an English Bulldog. Those are extremely awful conditions to be running a clinic under. As well as unsafe for bulldog owners that cannot have their pets overheated. As well as having pets in hot rooms. When my pet was taken to the back it took them 45 minutes to get her back to me when it usually takes them 15 minutes at the Mansfield Vetco location. The Cedar Hill Vetco location is extremely slow and unprofessional from all the staff to the Doctor as well as unsafe. read more

This Petco is the perfect size. It has a small feel yet it is stocked with something for most pets. The staff are always friendly. If there has been a bad experience I can't recall it. Last time I asked for help it was for a safety harness for our little toy poodle. I had passed the aisle several times and didnt see them. The young man who helped me smiled and it was genuine. He seemed to enjoy his work. He didnt try to hide or sneak off. I saw him again in another aisle and my lil puppers barked at this nice young man. Instead of getting annoyed the young man quipped, "I have one at home, dont worry." He smiled as he continued stocking the shelves. Some people lose it when dogs bark at them. My lil thing looks and barks like a puppy so people arent too put off but still I'm happy that no one was bothered. The store is always clean when I go. That's important to me. If I smell and see a dirty store i know to get out. I wouldn't buy anything for me much less my pet from a dirty store. They have a wide variety of dog and cat food. They always have vital in stock. Best of all I get to pick up a toy for my boy. Seeing him wag his tail while he looks at toys is the best! Great store. Great service. Great products. = happy pet parent and lil poodle! read more

My youngest son is an avid animal lover. His latest trip he got an African grey water frog. He named him/her Coqué. It's a cute little thing. I call it Kermit but he said it's the wrong kind of frog and we're not sure of its sex. He spent $3 and claims it's a good educational investment for him. LOL. He's the last of our 5 boys so I let him get whatever he wants. He's only spoiled a little. LOL read more

Been coming here for years when I had my dog (Shadow). Now we only have fish and come to get fish food and filters for our fish tank. We also bought our fish from here. The staff is always friendly and helpful to your needs. I love how the pet owners allow you to play with there pets and rub on them. Their prices are always affordable and it is not a time that I don't find the items I'm needing or looking for here. I have not used the grooming in many years because I found another location that I really liked. However the time that I did use them the work was good so I had no complaints. I always come and leave here with a Smile on my face. :) read more

It's been two weeks since I was told a manager would be calling me within 48 hours. I took my dog to get groomed, upgraded de-shed package. Dropped him off at 11:15ish. After 3pm, I became concerned because he wasn't ready. I go in to check, the groomer assigned was busy reading and replying to text messages on 2 phones. I asked an employee to get my dog so I can leave. I was then asked to pay. Pay for what? Just a bath. No apology for the inconvenience or for not providing the requested service. Instead, he started blaming my dog. I know my dog is very playful, but to be blamed for the groomer being more concerned about his phones, than his actual duties, shameful. Also, he did have my dog in the blow dryer because dog hair was and still is everywhere. Good thing I have pet vacuum. read more

I brought my 2 dogs to the groomers at Petco in Cedar Hill, TX. My chihuahua is high strung and wary of new people, and this is was our first time at this groomers. The team there is wonderful!! Not only do both of my dogs look and smell fantastic, they're both happy campers. Calissa did a great job of making me and my dogs both comfortable. She was very sweet to work with. The entire team took my somewhat difficult to work with chihuahua and loved him to bits. We get regularly groomed elsewhere, and I don't think I have ever seen my dog that relaxed. Thanks guys!! I go every here and there since my chihuahua was a puppy she is now going on 5 years old!!! I usually go to look at the pet clothing and toys.... they most of the time do not have clothing tiny enough to fit my tiny girls but I went about a week ago and actually found a few spring hats and a bunny hat for Easter that fits them perfect I couldn't believe it! They also have cute tiny bikinis for them that are actually tiny enough to fit my girls! They should continue to carry the tiny size for teacup/ toy dogs.. usually the xxs here isn't small enough for my girls Girth wise. I have been taking my dog to petco for a year now,but today i had to come and make a review. I dropped my dog off to get a cut like normally and when i came to pick him up he was shaking. When i brought him home i thought it would be better but it didnt. He began to have diarrhea and ran under my bed and wouldnt come from under there. Who ever cut my dogs hair severly traumatized him. This is the worse grooming service I have ever used. The staff was very impersonal. My Shih Tzu, who gets groomed regularly, had some matting on the top of her tail (hair 1-2 inches long), in one ear, and her mustache. The lady behind the counter proceeded to tell me this when I was already aware of it. She then told me she would have to shave those areas bald with the grooming. So I told her to leave it because I did not want my dog shaved, and that I'd fix it when she got home. Of course when I got home she had not touched the areas in question. I combed her out myself after paying $120 for my 2 dogs. My regular groomer costs less and will take the time to comb her out rather than shave her bald. She did not trim her beard and had long strands of hair hanging off her feet that I had to trim. I felt the lady was being lazy. I would not recommend or ever take my dogs there again. read more

The customer service in the grooming salon is terrific! I took my german shepherd to have his nails trimmed. They did a great job and showed me how to trim them if I decided to do it myself. The employees are friendly and my dog liked them. The lines in the store are usually short and the checkers are courteous. read more

I have Big spoiled labs. They talk to each other the whole Time they are being groomed and these ladies just take it in stride. My boys are so clean and happy when I get there, and the cost is great as well! I can show up Without an appointment and still be accommodated with smiles. Love it! read more
