I come to this Petco a lot because it's the closest one to where I live, but man... the online pickup orders are painfully slow. I'll order something as simple as one box of wet food, and somehow it still takes them several hours to get it ready. The website says pickup is usually ready within an hour or less, but that definitely hasn't been my experience. One time, I'd already been waiting for over two hours and happened to be in the area, so I went inside and asked about my order. The employee just walked over to the shelf, grabbed the item, and handed it to me. He also seemed kind of out of it, which just made the whole experience even weirder. I get that stores get busy, but this happens often enough that it's pretty frustrating. I keep coming back because it's convenient, but I really wish they were better about getting pickup orders ready on time. read more

I debated writing this review, but I'm really disappointed with how this situation was handled. We took our dogs here because they had more availability than our regular groomer. We were trying to get them groomed before family came to visit later this week, including meeting our dog for the first time. When we picked up our poodle, his coat had been shaved way shorter than we or anyone ever would have approved. The issue isn't just that it was cut so short it's that no one called to ask before doing it. I called the next morning, and the lead groomer called me back. Instead of apologizing, she blamed my husband, saying he signed off on a quarter-inch cut and that they got the "vibe" it was okay to do whatever they thought was best. That was never authorized. Yes, he had some minor matting, which is normal for a poodle, but he's been groomed many times with similar matting and has never been shaved this short. If they felt they needed to go shorter, they should have called us first. What upset me the most was the lack of accountability. Not once did she apologize. Instead, she said, "I'll put it in the notes, but maybe we're not the right fit for your dog." We paid $140 plus a tip, and all we wanted was an apology and better communication. Mind you she also tried to tell me that this is the same haircut he got last time which is inaccurate! I have photos that show his haircut previously, and it was not this short! Also the last time they cut his hair (the first time) , a gentleman had cut his hair and failed to tell us that he cut his face. He didn't even apologize but since we had taken our goldendoodle here multiple times before I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and just try it one more time as that groomer was no longer at this location. They need to take accountability for their mistakes and at the price that people are paying for grooming service services. This is completely unacceptable! Instead, we were blamed and dismissed. It's especially disappointing because we wanted our dogs looking their best before our family arrived this week! Unfortunately, I would never recommend this dog groomer! read more

I wanted several fish and visited this store today. I was in the aquatic section for over 10 minutes, and while no less than 4 employees saw me, not one asked if I needed help. They continued to walk past and completely ignored me, so I left with nothing. I will be looking elsewhere for my fish purchases from now on. Awful customer service. read more

Their aquatic plants killed 4 of my fish within two weeks, 2 of them 7+ inch beautiful Koi. I had receipts for the plants and fish and it's been under 30 days. They couldn't be bothered to make things right, refund, replacement fish. They lost a customer and I want to cry. Don't get me started on how they refused to groom my dog because he has a heart murmur (which had all the other times they groomed him). I will not buy anything from this Petco ever again. I got a reply (probably automated) suggesting I call their number. Person who answered had no idea why I was calling and literally said, "there's probably nothing I can do." So, I said thank you and hung up. Their responses on yelp mean nothing. They don't really care if their products contributed to the death of your pets. read more

I got a leopard gecko from this Petco in February, he was super skinny. I thought I'd take him home and just take care of him and fatten up. He has gotten more skinnier than when I first got him. He is super sick. I'm taking him to the vet and they think he has parasites. I'm doing everything I can to make them healthy. I know it was Petco because they had seven baby leopard geckos that were super skinny in the same cage. They probably shared sickness. I feel bad for anyone who bought a leopard gecko from this Petco in February. someone shut this place down already. read more

I went into the Petco on Prominent Point yesterday, I put in my phone number when asked, and I wasn't given a receipt. ($240 spent) After going to a different Petco and realizing they didn't put it on my phone number, I called and talked to the manager asking for my receipt and for the issue to be resolved. She told me to come in so I did. My receipt was given to me and I realized the fish tank that was labeled as $39.99 rang up as $70. I spoke to BLAKE who refused to let me speak to the manger I spoke with over the phone. He also refused to refund the fish tank. The points from my large order are supposed to be on my account now but I have yet to see them and will be calling again. I HIGHLY recommend going to a different Petco or at bare minimum one without Blake. As a member of Petco and of the aquatic community I suggest letting the customer speak to a manger when they ask all while keeping a KIND demeanor in the future. read more

The first time they did us wrong we arrived to our appt and they (specifically one girl) turned us away because my dog's rabies vax expired THE DAY BEFORE. My dog couldn't get groomed by them because of one day?? Even my vet thought that was weird. The second time they did me wrong was a day my daughter-in-law took my dog in for her appt and they turn her away telling her my dog doesn't have one. WHAT?! I can only make last minute appts, and I made one for today. I come with my dog and I told them about trying to give my dog hemp calming drops (she's a very nervous dog) and my dog had bumped my hand and it all spilled all over so I didn't give her enough. So this same girl tells me they can't take my dog in because I gave her calming drops. These drops I had bought at PETCO a few months back and even gave them to her in front of 3 groomers there at the same PETCO. NO ONE told me that it wasn't allowed. Until, I bring her in today. Some of the groomers are very nice but this one girl, on her high horse, has succeeded in turning away a customer of Petco's, for life. Petco, I know it's hard to get good help but, c'mon. I knew I should've just walked out when the groomer came in with an attitude. She called to change my appointment which I did not agree to and then got mad at me because I was not on her schedule. Then she tried to charge me $130 for a 51 pound dog. Come to find out at Wag N Wash you can get a full groom for $99, a full cut, wash, nails, trimmed etc.. I then told her that I couldn't pick up my dog until 5:15 after I got off of work. She continued to call me between 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock for me to come and get my dog when she knew I didn't get off until 5 o'clock. I was kind enough to still leave a tip although the cashier made sure to give me attitude about that. She's really lucky she got anything at all....don't bother! Go somewhere else. read more

We have been Petco customers since 2018. We use Petco for grooming and food purchases for our dog. The manager of this Petso location approached us in 2022 and said we should enroll in Vital Care for $20/month for 12 months to save money with rewards and 20% discounts. Once we enrolled, we started to see extra charges on the grooming for Materials Fee ($7.99) and Long Hair ($7.99). I asked them what is the reason for Vital Care if you all keep tacking on extra charges and they did not provide an answer. I will not renew this Vital Care subscription when it expires in May of 2022 and will look for another groomer to take our dog for services. Not good business practices and very dishonest. read more

Took my dog for a Grooming, we'd been twice before, they asked for his rabies which I did not have on his collar. I said we'd been here before check your records....nope. I said I'd bring it when I picked him up....nope. I said I'd call or text photo within 10 minutes...nope. They asked to reschedule...I said NOPE. For their inability to be consistent or flexible they have forever lost my business. Too bad they don't care. I just picked my dog up from her grooming appointment and she looks and smells amazing. Mallory definitely went above and beyond for maya. The pricing is great, especially for what you get. We went to a couple different grooming places and they were a lot more expensive and did a lot less. We'll definitely be bringing maya back. read more

Worst Petco I've ever been to (Seattle, California, and Colorado). We arrive for grooming (two dogs), they tell me that both of my dogs rabies immunizations are overdue so they can't perform any grooming. We find another groomer and they inform us that both dogs aren't even due for another 8-12months. They are idiots at this Petco; not to mention both of my dogs have come home limping from nail clippings from previous appointments. If you really care about your pets, don't leave them with these people. read more

I took my husky in to get groomed, yes I understand a husky is a lot of work to groomed, however when we came to pick him up the lady who brought him out to us started lecturing us over how we could be better about his fur. Furthermore they added almost $50 extra worth of work without notifying us. Which is understandable if you need to charge more but come on call the owner and confirm that's what they want. She continued to go on with the lecturing and then threatened to shave our dog next time! Then proceeds to threaten the following time they will not only shave our dog but charge us $400 to do the grooming. Will be the last time we use this Petco location for anything and we recommend everyone else do the same. The last Petco we used in Denver didn't have any issues grooming him or hidden additional charges. read more

The dog trainer here is not very nice. I tried to ask questions because I wanted to purchase a training package. He literally told me not to purchase there. I guess he has his own business outside of Petco. This was so unprofessional. There was a younger girl he was training and he was berating her in front of people he was working with. The poor girl had tears in her eyes. I went in on a different day and was talking to a cashier and mentioned what happened. She told me he got that girl fired. She also told me everyone there is scared of .. in her words that creep. Hopefully he gets fired soon. Needless to say I got dog training somewhere else. read more

Took our pup Olive in today because our usual groomer has no availability. They were great about getting our dog in on maybe 2-3 day notice but now I may see why. Worst grooming we've had so far in our young pups life. Olive is a mini golden doodle with typically pretty wiry/kinky coat. Now she is almost shaved down to the skin and looks terrible. When my wife dropped her off the groomer mentioned she had one matted hair area that she should be able to manage. When I picked her up she apologized for cutting it so short but blamed it on additional matted areas. If we had known our dog would just be shaved down, I would have done it myself. Just seems like a lazy attempt at dog grooming so I'm not sure why it took the whole 4 hours. Other groomers we have take less time, give a better cut, and are cheaper. This groom cost us $85 plus a $10 tip (which I gave before I ever saw my dog, big mistake). Other area groomers have cost us no more than $70-80 each time. Don't waste your time or money here. Took my dog here for the first time to get groomed and boy was that a mistake! His appointment was at 3 pm and when I asked how long it will take, the groomer Caitlin said, "two hours, but we close at 6 pm so I ask that you be on time to pick him up." I was fine with that and the service he was to receive was the full service to include his nails getting buffed. After I paid, I went back to the grooming counter and he came out still wet! When I asked her why he was wet, She fed me some bull crap story and said, "Oh yes, well since it was his first time I just towel dried him real good!" Part of the full service is that he was suppose to get his fur blow dried and she made it sound like she did me a favor by telling me she toweled dried him real good. I couldn't even tell her to take him back and dry him because they were about to close and now I had to take my wet dog out in to the cold! The icing on the cake was I paid full price and tipped her 20% for a service she never completed. Well, fool me once shame on you! To say I was upset when I left was an understatement, but that will definitely be the last time I take my dog there to get groomed and the last time I tip a groomer before seeing my dog! I guess that's what I get for trusting that I was going to get what I paid for. read more

I am very disappointed in the grooming department. I brought my poodle puppy in for a clean face and clean feet cut, they used the clippers wayyy too close in about six different places causing irritation. One of the places has started bleeding because he was playing outside. We had them scheduled at 12:30 and they said they shouldn't be more than 5 hours, they weren't done until 6:30...I understand it was his first grooming, but even so, it shouldn't have taken that long. Good service, though they're often out of the cat food I need. I buy my cat's wet food here (Natural Balance Chicken & Green Pea), and while you can get it in the 24-pack (6oz cans), they're frequently out. This happens about 40% of the time. I'm still glad to go there and check though. It's a nice store with friendly people. At the same time, the employees are always willing to check for stock, and they'll immediately put you in touch with the person who receives the shipments. They are very upfront with you about what is or isn't available and when to check back. Service is important - they get four stars for that alone. taking our labradoodle here to get groomed was thee absolute worst decision we could have possibly made. to start, he was done about an hour and a half later than what we were originally told. second, they completely butchered him! throughout his entire body, his fur is shorter in some parts and longer in others. it's completely uneven and it honestly makes him look homeless. i'm sure i myself could've done a better job on him than whoever did it. prior to leaving the salon, i specifically showed whoever was in the front a picture of how we wanted tempe to look and they did the EXACT opposite. he honestly doesn't even look like a labradoodle anymore, he looks like we picked him up on the side of the road and brought him home. if i could give this location a negative five star, i honestly would. this is the first and last time we will ever take tempe, or any future dog to this location. read more

We have taken our lab to the groomers here a few times. Tuesdays they run a special for a $20 bath and $20 shedding treatment and brushing. Our dog has seen Ricardo the last few times and every time she comes home and still shedding like crazy. I know a certain amount of that is probably normal, but I am pretty sure they didn't even brush her tail today. Chunks of hair are coming off in my hand so my husband took our shedding tool to just her tail and we have sizeable pile of hair from her tail alone. So the $40 price tag is only a good deal if the staff performs the service well. I'm pretty disappointed. Other than that, we generally like this Petco and have had good experiences with customer service and finding what we need. But we will be finding a different groomer even if it costs more. read more

Petco overall is a wonderful establishment if you need to get dog food, a hamster, or really any pet needs. Although they have given me two pregnant fish. Let me explain, a couple months ago I really wanted to start a fish tank. I started with three guppys and a week later I got a shrimp and Platty, a week later the shrimp was gone and the platty was dead. Two weeks later there are three Platty fry (babies) in my fish tank. Then I still wanted a shrimp so I thought I should try again. I got a small cherry shrimp that died within a day. Three weeks later or so there are at least three cherry shrimp babies. I'm not exactly angry about this but I thought there should be a warning out there. read more

Originally I went in to purchase a rabbit cage and got a multi level one and was very upset because it was defective and broke. So I returned it not looking to get another one ,But Petco and Candace made me want to be a loyal customer and made the situation 100% better. They are ordering me a different hutch from online with free shipping and are able to give me a discount from online for the other so I can actually afford the cage I want, because it will be about the same price now. I was excited they offered private obedience classes, they were within my price range and close to my house. After repeated phone calls to speak with a trainer and stopping by to possibly catch the trainer, recommended to me by staff, I have given up and decided to take my business elsewhere. I've never received a call back after 3 weeks of attempts. Ordered 2 cat towers online. Got to store, even though it was really busy, several employees whom were stocking product, stopped to ask if we needed any help. We got the items we wanted to buy, showed the confirmation paper of online order and was leaving the store within 10 minutes later. Employees were very respectful and very helpful.
