My little brother loves animals so much, and he always asks us to go to pet stores. I've always gone to PetCo and even got my cat from the store. I'll admit that when I first got my cat she was in a horrible condition, and when I took her to a vet that I had trusted for a long time and this knew was reliable, she said that eye infections of this caliber were pretty common for shelters. When we went to one about a week ago, I spotted (in total, not counting the beta fish that are usually dead either way) 47 dead fish, 26 were stuck to water filters. Of those 47, 4 were being eaten by other fish of the same species. I even saw one on the floor, though it was a young plecostomus. Even if we are not looking at the ethical problems...most of these dead fish were high quality and ranged so far as $399! I'm thoroughly disgusted with the work being done here, or the lack thereof. There is about one employee there that seems to know what she's doing, my respect for carrying the whole store goes out to her. Long story short, this store and other in the chain have no veterinary care for the animals there, and the workers hardly ever do their job except for a handful of workers. read more

Petco grooming services are the best. I drop off my dog and just 3 to 4 hours later she is ready to go home. I have in the past used grooming services and they would have my dog for up to 10 hours. Crystal is the best groomer. All the groomers are professional and courteous. Love Petco highly recommend them. read more

The condition of your small pets are absolutely terrible. You need to educate yourselves on how to properly keep small animals. The long haired male hamsters looked sick and you cannot cramp 4 into a one 5 or 8 gallon tank. One needs the minimum of 20 gallons to be happy. You need to make sure their cages are at least clean and have fresh water and make sure they aren't sick because ALL of them looked sick. read more

Best place to buy fish in columbus. They have a wide variety of saltwater and freshwater fish and fish tanks of all sizes. Place seemed clean and probably the best Petco I've been inside. If I was a sad beta fish in a little cup or a sad lizard in a tiny tank I would at least wanna be inside this Petco read more

HORRIBLE customer service !! No one to greet me. No one on the sales floor to help me get a pet carrier. Had to reach and climb to get the thing my self. Also pulled a muscle in my back while doing so. I finally found someone to help me. Think her name was roxi or Lexi or something like that. Told her I was looking for a cat to adopt and she just pointed to the cat and told me I had to hurry before her class came back. Very rude. Also the cats living condition was bad. I love taking my fur child to this Petco. Everyone is so friendly and it is very clean. I love how Petcos are set up and how every section is like its own experience. They have a large aquatic section as well as a decent sized section of reptiles, birds, and other furry creatures (rodents and the like such as guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, etc). They have a huge selection of dog treats and food and even have a Made in the USA spot set aside in the back, which I thought was a very cool touch. My dog has a blast perusing the aisles and taking in all the smells and I just love coming here to look around. read more

The worst customer service I have ever seen!! Ridiculous and frustrating experience. No one greeted us at the door, associates were scurrying around to avoid contact with customers (like 2 customers that were even there,) one guy was on a private cellphone call marching up and down the isle, others were just standing around aggravated when a customer approached them with a question. The associate by the fish area reluctantly answers some questions about fishtanks as he leaned on a display tank like he was in his living room, didn't offer any help, and then lectured my toddler. We left and went to a different pet store, where an associate greeted us instantly, gave us a tour of the fishtanks, told us everything we could possibly want to know about owning fish, gave a bunch of pamphlets, got a cart for us, and offered above and beyond help. To this kind of customer service Petco should aspire. read more

To tell you the truth the staff is nice, but just not friendly. The dogs don't enjoy themselves as much in here as with some of the other pet stores in town. There just is not as much to do for them. These folks will sell you fish that are sick or that have the ich. After infecting my whole tank with ich I went back to ask them about it and was treated very rudely and was told that I was welcome to buy my fish elsewhere if I choose to. After spending hundreds of dollars there and then being treated as such by their employees I will promise you that they will never see another penny from me. read more

When I have visited the store the employees were super nice. However the trouble started when I made an on-line order. It never shipped. When I called 6 days later because I was now out of fish food I was told the order had not shipped and it would take as much as a week to process and refund my money. After a really annoying experience trying to get flea and tick collars at target we left and came to petco. They were substantially more expensive but the girl who was at the register (I can't recall her name) told us they price matched and saved us $40! That's incredible! I explained to one of the workers that I wanted to add another fish to my tank and that I wasn't sure if they'd get along since they're aggressive fish but I was willing to give it a try. I took my 3 dogs into the grooming salon in Petco today to have them groomed. We just moved here from out of state so this was my first time trying them out. First off when you come to pick your pets up they give you a ticket to take to the counter inside petco to pay. I find this strange because you don't even get to see your pets or what you are paying for beforehand. I started looking at the ticket and see an extra $15 charge for each dog. The $15 charge was for a comb out and scissor trim!!! Shouldn't that be included in a full grooming price which I was also being charged for?!?! I thought maybe it was a mistake so I asked the guy who was checking me out. He said they charged everyone for that service. I couldn't even believe it! Why not just include it in the full groom price? It seems like it's just a way to upcharge your customers. I thought to myself well there goes your tips! When I got back to the groomers I presented them with my receipt and they brought my dogs out. I was immediately disappointed when I saw one of my dogs which I asked to have a bichon frise hair cut. I was even charged extra for that haircut! She looks nothing like a bichon Frise or even a poodle which is what she is mixed with. She looked terrible! What little hair was left on top of her head was all uneven. The lady then informed me that she had cut one of her legs. I understand that can happen sometimes but I was just upset with everything so I leashed them up and left. After getting them home I was inspecting the $172.00 job I just paid for only to be more disappointed. They didn't smell like a fresh bath. I assume they put some kind of perfume on to make them smell better but they don't feel or smell clean. I discovered they missed the hair in the arm pits of two of my dogs. Long hairs were sticking out from their paws. Their legs were uneven and their toenails were jagged. They didn't even clean their ears. I called the manager and told her I was very unhappy. She said if I came back she would refund the $15 charges. She was extremely nice and did get some of my money back, but I still paid a little over $120 dollars for a mediocre job at best. I definitely will not have my dogs groomed there again! read more

I've never had any problems in this store when it comes to shopping for treats, food, pet accessories, etc. My problem lies within the grooming department. I recently took my dog there to get shaved for the summer. I was a little hesitant bc I've heard shaving can cause skin/fur issues, but was assured my dog would be fine and much happier in this horrible summer heat. What I didn't know is they would actually shave the backs of her ears!! Now, not only does my dog have razor burn all over her stomach, bottom and genitals, but the backs of both of her ears have scabs all over them too! Poor thing. I will never have her shaved for the summer again! Obviously I'm not a trained groomer and had no idea this could even happen...I should have been warned, and the backs of her ears should have been trimmed, not shaved. They should know that shaving the backs of a dogs ears can cause horrible skin issues. They ARE trained, right? I feel like a terrible mommy. read more

Love going to this Petco. The cashiers are always extremely friendly and professional, they always have a smile on their face. The groomers I was iffy about at first, but after taking both of my dogs their for a full groom service I was very pleased with the outcome. I have two large dogs and one is only 10 months old so I was very thankful that the groomer even offered to help me take the dogs to the car because the puppy is such a handful. My puppy is now enrolled in Adult 1 pet training, so I look forward to seeing how that goes I spoke to the trainer and she seemed very nice and helpful. The prices are a bit high here but they have decent sales, I just wish Petco had a better rewards system. read more

She listens to what I want for the style or cut for my Golden & my bulldog they return to me clean , smell great, and happy. My dogs love her ! I am extremely disappointed with the grooming department. I've used them for several years with no issues other than one incident with the last haircut. The lady was not the usual groomer and the haircut was uneven. I continued to use them despite this and hearing several concerns from friends and coworkers. I called to schedule an appointment for my fur baby and was told they would no longer be able to groom my baby. When asked why the lady stated it was because they weren't not able to make me happy. What! The only thing I could think of was I called and spoke to the store manager regarding the last haircut my baby received. He was super nice, apologized and gave me a refund. End of story...so I thought! Then this today. I refuse to spend another dime in this store since this is how they treat their customers. read more

This review is for the grooming salon, not the store. We like the store and they have a great selection of items. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the grooming salon. For the second time in a row, they groomed my dog incorrectly despite the fact that I had lengthy conversations with the people at the grooming desk about what I wanted. The first time this happened I just lived with it despite the fact that they shaved him (not what I asked them to do!) so closely that he had some razor burn. This time, I called to complain that they had not done the cut I requested and discussed in detail. They refused to do anything to make reparations for their error and argued with me that they'd done what I told them to do. They said they'd make a note for next time so that it would be correct but refused to offer me any discount for next time or partial refund for this time. Clearly customer service is not a priority in the grooming salon. I don't think we'll be returning. read more
