This Petco was easy to access, had great customer service and was clean/ organized. The only downside I saw was that the dog food I typically purchase is $19 while this time it was $22! Hopefully the sale prices will hit again soon. read more

It was a terrible experience at this Petco. I have a 50 Gallon indoor fish tank with 10 fishes. I asked ppl who works at petco to recommends to buy few more fishes. So I bought 4 more fishes 2.5 weeks ago. One fish died a week later then I brought it to replace to new. The guy who helped me was great. Then 2 other fishes died this week so I brought them back for refund (not wanna replace new fishes bc keep die and felt bad) Same time I need a product that tap water can be safe to use for fish. So a guy recommended to buy Aqua safe plus (about $12) "So I paid differences... instead of get refund dead two fishes(about $6), I paid about $6 for Aqua safe plus" However the product is no more needed for my case so next day I went back to petco to refund but two employees (women) not helpful. I explained 1st female employee exactly I wrote above then she understood but not sure what to do so asked another female employee to help. So I had to explain again but she does not listen/ not understand and she was telling me that I did not return fishes as she sees in her system. So I said than it may be system wrong or who helped me yesterday must put in system not correctly. And she kept telling me I did not return fishes. I was so frustrated and uncomfortable. I asked her to look camera from yesterday and her answer was I can't look and it's not possible. I said forget it bc they wasted my time and gave me the worst customer services. Not even listen me. She talked me like I'm lying I did not bring dead fishes. So this is my last choice for this petco store and two employees. They need to get new and better customer service training. read more

I'd give it zero stars if that was an option, but 1 it will have to be. I have visited this store multiple times, and at one, they convinced me to sign up for a premium membership, telling me explicitly that it was a monthly service. THEY LIED. It is a YEARLY contract, or so the terms of service apparently says...you know, that multi-page small print electronic document they flash on the screen before you pay? Yah, that one. While that may be "legal" the whole process is unethical and it doesn't change the fact that the workers in the store lied. When customer service is contacted, they of course refer me to the "terms of service"...despite being very capable of correcting this and keeping at least a periodic customer. Thus, I'll keep reviewing with 1-star ratings since apparently I'll be a Paying customer for a while to come. read more

We've had some good experiences in the past, but lately everything is declining from fish to inventory to customer service. There only appears to be one person working at this location at any point. The last few times we've wanted fish, no one was available so we ended up just getting the fish food. Even then, we have to go try to find the one poor guy working to be rung up. I have tried the grooming service here 3 times, and every time I arrive the groomers are hectic, annoyed, miserable, and rude. I book appointments online and confirm with text messages, and 2 out of 3 times I arrived and was told that they were not expecting me. I was then treated as though I was in the wrong and told it would likely be about 4 hours before my dog would be ready. This time, the computer system was also down. SO after 4 hours, I went to the store, imagining that maybe due to the computer problem they were not able to text me. I arrived at 4:30pm expecting that I could shop in the store and wait for the appt to be done. My dog had been washed but they had not started grooming her. I checked in with them and was told that it would be another 45 mins. Since I live about 30 mins away, I planned on hanging out with the kittens and shopping until my dog was ready. However, instead of 45 mins she was not ready for about an hour and 15 minutes. After 45 mins I walked by the grooming window to see how the grooming was going, but not too overtly so as not to upset my dog. When the cut was done, almost at 6pm, I paid and tipped and said thank you, and was told that my dog was not welcome on Alicia's books anymore because I had not given her enough grace and was looking around the corner to see if she was finished. As it turned out, she never finished, actually. In the car on the way home I realized that my dog's tail and most of her belly had not been cut. At all. I will never go back to this store again, for grooming or for anything else. In the past we had wonderful interactions with other employees helping us with our other animals. We have been really good customers and are premier members. But grooming has been an unpleasant disaster. I work in the service industry, and give people a lot of grace and compassion because I know that people work hard and are often not managed well, but in this situation I found that from minute one I was treated very poorly and was treated as though I was in the wrong. This review is for Petco Grooming, specifically the wonderful groomer named Kit. I have a senior mixed-breed dog, and Kit took the time to thoughtfully make sure they understood exactly what I was looking for from our grooming appointment. Kit also was attuned to my dog during the appointment and let me know afterwards of one particular area of potential soreness. The haircut was amazing, my dog was happy, and I can't recommend Kit enough. read more

Absolutely Unacceptable Experience at Petco: I bought a flame angelfish from Petco less than 24 hours ago, and it has already died. When I purchased it, the worker assured me it was healthy, and it appeared fine at the time. However, less than a day later, it's gone. I immediately called the store to notify them, talking to the general manager of the store expecting at least some level of accountability, but I was met with a dismissive "no refund, no replacement" policy. They say they don't have refund on saltwater fish but they do on freshwater, any fish (freshwater or saltwater) is delicate if you don't have proper parameters, especially if your parameters are off enough that it dies in less than a day. Mind you my parameters are perfect this is a well established tank of over a year old and I even tested them once I saw it was dead and they were still perfect. What kind of reputable fish store sells fish that don't even survive a full day and then refuses to stand behind their animals? If you can't even guarantee the health of your livestock for 24 hours, why should anyone trust you as a place to buy fish? This is beyond disappointing--it's a sign of poor quality control, inadequate care, and a complete lack of responsibility toward the animals you sell. If you're going to run an aquarium section, you should be ensuring the fish are properly acclimated, and healthy before selling them. Instead, customers are left with expensive losses and no support. I won't be purchasing any more fish from Petco, and I strongly advise others to think twice before doing so. Fix your policies, train your staff better, and start taking responsibility for the animals you sell. Selling sick or weak fish and then refusing to stand by them is not just bad business--it's unethical. read more

There is a kitten with an injured paw in a wire cage waiting for fostering. According to a store employee, he could have caught his paw in the adoption room door. The kitten won't put weight on the paw, which is obviously painful, but the store is going to "Wait a couple of days" before having the kitten examined! Seriously?? Also, even if a product is on sale, if the customer doesn't have a membership with the store, they can't buy the product at the advertised sale price. read more

After waiting for about 15 minutes, the guy before me finally went to find help for the fish department. When she finally arrived with all her attitude, she questioned him and argued with him for 5 minutes before getting him what he wanted. Then she walked away, even though I was standing there waiting for her. I had to follow her and ask her if I could buy some fish as well. I got the same attitude and "know it all" behavior from her. Finally I complained and walked out. I've been raising fish for over 20 years. How dare this lady who obviously doesn't know a thing about what she's talking about heckle the customers in such a rude way. This lady's customer service and her attitude are in the toilet. If you have a doodle, DO NOT bring them to Petco for grooming. The price point for grooming is reasonable, but expect your dog to come out completely shaved. Most doodle owners do not want their dog to get "poodled" and Petco won't put the effort into a traditional haircut at all. I was sucked in by their 20% off coupon, but clearly you get what you pay for. My dogs haircut looks awful and it's going to take forever for it to grow out. read more

This Petco is amazing - primarily due to the employees who go above and beyond each time I visit to help out! Always have a positive experience when shopping here. I walked in this evening around 5:15 with my pup to see if the groomers could accommodate a quick visit - TMI but my dog had been rubbing her booty on the carpet for a couple of days so she needed "relief"... and quickly. Naomi was just finishing up with a dog and immediately smiled and greeted me and my dog to see how she could help. I told her what was going on and she said she would be more than happy to take her back and get her fixed up. As a walk-in with fingers and toes crossed they would have time to see her it was such a relief! Naomi had Graycee in and out under 5 minutes and you could tell my dog was feeling so much better. The cost was only $12 and really appreciated her squeezing us in. I also asked about the Petco grooming and vet services plan while signing some paperwork that is $20 a month. She was super helpful and gave me the flyer and explained how it worked and said to let her or anyone know if I had any questions. I def think it's worth the money and will be signing up soon. I went in with a nervous foster dog who desperately needed an escape-proof harness, and Rodney went above and beyond to help. I certainly fell in love with this Petco location, because upon coming in, we were greeted by cute, jumping puppies and all cuddled up in a play pen. We saw a cute corner for adoption with the photos and names of the canine companions displayed for us to see and fall in love! My favorite part was also taking a look at hamsters playing around, running in circles in the hamster wheel, and nibbling on their crumb sized hamster food. They had lots of gold fish, and other pet supplies that are decent. read more

Sad and Abusive I visited this store on 1/01/2021 and it was not at all ok... betta fish kept in small cups, every single one was SICK with a serious diseases... SUFFERING inside of these DIRTY cups with fungus growing on their body, pine-coning from dropsy (a very serious fish disease), swim bladder, you name it. Every single one. We ended up purchasing one because we want to try and heal him before he has to literally just rot away in a cup left to die. I do not appreciate the terrible condition these fish are kept in. Bettas are also tropical fish suppose to be in 75+ degrees and our betta was in 61 degrees... no wonder all these bettas are sick! Dirty cold water... sad petco. You can afford a better care for these fish. Shame on you read more

Nothing like stopping at Petco at Mexico and Colorado blvd, to get cat litter and more purée for Mr. Frankie Scarlatti (who has liver and kidney cancer and maybe has 2 months to live) when the idiot 16 year old cashier sees my name on the rewards program and says, in his most proud voice, "your name is Elvis? I typically don't go to this Petco but was needing dog food and was at an appointment close by. The food I originally bought (a grain free type) was expired. After seeing this I was very frustrated. I called the store and Spencer did an excellent job of apologizing for the situation. I returned the food for a non-expired bag and was given a credit for the hassle. I have had nothing but amazing experiences with staff & product at this location! I just took my 5 mo puppy to get groomed yesterday. Kenna was absolutely wonderful with my little dood! She was super attentive to what we wanted in terms of cut, very friendly and loving with our dog, and so sweet! She took pictures for us throughout the process and made both myself and my puppers feel super comfortable. Would highly recommend seeing her and we will definitely be returning customers! read more

Grooming salon review: the groomer that checked us in was very rude, curt, no compassion or care for the family or pet we were bringing in-- for the first time. She inflected her voice as on to shame me, when I told her she had never gotten her nails trimmed before. I was sharing this with her so she new she would be fearful, nervous and could use some extra care/reassurance. When we were sharing this with her she interrupted and said is she was aggressive, etc. We responded with and answer and she interrupted us again to say in a rude, loud, condemning tone, "let me finish speaking". She has terrible communication skills and does NOT instill confidence in customers that she can do her job well or EVEN cares about the pets she's taking care of. Don't know her name but she has dark brown hair, with an undercut and the sides dyed bright yellow of her hair- invoice says Sam M. Don't take your pets there unless you wanted to be treated rudely. Learn some customer service skills. Management should discuss this issue with her so it doesn't continue to occur. Sad bc it's our neighborhood location and we will be going elsewhere now. The dog training staff however at this location are phenomenal! Great people who genuinely seem yo care about your pet. And have the ability to communicate to humans too. Win win. read more

The ONLY decent person working at this Petco is the woman who cuts the cats' nails! Some of the other young girls working there are such nasty girls! Last appt. one yelled at me for not scheduling but they haven't been scheduling for a year! She yelled at me in front of several other customers. Today this nasty girl takes my boy, he's barking his head off and there's lots of other noise so I couldn't hear what she was asking me. I told her just cut his nails. I go to pay and they charge me for buffing. I don't need buffing so went back to tell her that and she hands me my dog and tells me never to come back there again! NICE! We called Petco on E Mexico Ave. for a nail trim and were told to come in because no appointment was necessary. When we arrived we were told we would have to wait until they finished the other dogs (they were currently working on 2) and would get to ours in approximately 35-40 minutes. After over an hour, they finally finished the other dogs but still told us that we would have to wait until they worked on the customers that were arriving now. We pointed out she told us to wait and she then she told us there were "other Petcos and Petsmarts". If she didn't have any intention of providing the service, she should have just told us when we walked in. We drove to Petsmart and I asked how long to wait Since I could see they were busier than Petco. They took me as soon as one grooming was complete and we were out in 15 minutes. read more

We took our poodle in for grooming. I am 7 months pregnant and took our 10 month old puppy because my husband had a prior engagement. Amber could see my struggling but was pretty rude and refused to take the puppy so I could fill out her paper work. Also the price was $30 more than what was on the website. When we received the dog back, someone had shaved a giant spot out of his leg, a place we asked her to leave alone. When I called to complain and finally reached someone Sam, the grooming manager, said he came in like that. I told her he didn't and that I had a picture from shortly before showing that. After 14 years with the same goomer, we had a terrible experience at Petco on Mexico & CO. Our dog is 1 step under a therapy dog, weighs 10 lbs and has never been aggresive or threatened to bite! She's accompanied me for many years to a nursing home and to my class of young students with special needs until this past year because of her age. The groomer claimed that she became aggressive and had to have another groomer come over and hold her down. We believe that what actually happened was that the groomer presssed too hard on her arthritic back and hurt her. (The groomer has known about her back for several years.) When I reproted it, the story changed and she said that she allowed our dog time to relax. (She never told us this.) Furthermore, she knows that I'm not fussy about how it looks, she should have stopped and she should have called me. Several years ago this same groomer allowed a "trainee" to groom her without our permission. Our dog was bleeding so badly that she had to be taken to emeergency for stitches. I did report this and received a call back from a supervisor. His response afte "investigating" was a much different story that what the groomer originally told us. Needless to say, Petco no longer our choice for grooming! read more

I called the store four days ago and was told they had a lot of their lobsters a.k.a. crayfish and they gave me a lot of information about setting up the tank appropriately... I came in last night a few minutes after 730 and they wouldn't let me purchase them at that time. I bought new filters for tanks. And they were already set up a couple of days before with pretty new filter but I decided to replace. I've had lobsters before and they've all lived happy, full lives. And when I got there at 7:30 today, they said they weren't going to help me aquatics was closed... Then one girl said she would help me, but I had to wait 15 minutes while she slowly helped other people and the manager, and other employees, cleaned and just walked around. Then when she was finally done she came over and asked which I wanted. I told her then she said, you know, how big are the tanks? How is it set up... And when I told her I'd had the tanks cycling for a few days, she started to say unfortunately... And I said OK 10 days I mean... Then she said it has to be three weeks minimum and I said "oh that's it- I meant a month" because I know at this point they were just being rude, incompetent, lazy morons. They proceeded to refuse selling of these lobsters! There's nothing on the website about setting up a habitat that says this ridiculous 3 week policy. Also if you're cleaning your tanks regularly, which I do, you take the lobster out, put it in its own water from the tank in a separate bowl while you clean the rocks suction out all the water put in new water add the solution to dilute the water and put the lobster back in with a little bit of it's old water. how would you possibly do this and cycle for three weeks? They are seriously ruining the business because now I'm gonna return everything I bought there, including a $30 Betta fish. And it looks like the reviews already are at a three average. I would guess that maybe it's the staff led by a bitchy male manager, Tom, I think and the slew of Spanish girls that appear to be dimwits and are slow as molasses physically and mentally. Sidenote, it has nothing to do with being Spanish because I think they are some of the hardest working and smartest people in this country a lot of the time. Just not in this store. Don't waste your time till they are all fired. read more

I've always preferred Petco grooming over Petsmart. My dog was well taken care of and I was very pleased with his experience. They Also informed me of all the ala carte options from his grooming. They offer a $20 nails and brushing for those bigger dogs with extra fur. Which is nice because he doesn't typically need a bath as often as he needs to be completely brushed out. I was disappointed when they didn't have some kind of paperwork to show his experience and overview of teeth, nails, skin, but I guess that is a pet smart thing. read more

This is for grooming only-awful. Our first experience here was great, the groomer was super nice. She hooked us up with the spa treatment. Our little pug came home sparkling clean, and smelled so good for weeks to follow. He was done in less than an hour. Repeat trip, had to pay $20 extra for the spa treatment, but last time he smelled so good! Well, this time, he hardly smelled like the scent we chose, and he breath was horrible. I swear they didn't brush his teeth. And I guess that's how they hook ya into spending the extra money for the spa treatment, overdo it for free at first, the totally go below the bar after. And if this isn't their sales tactic, it sure comes off that way. The hair was falling off of him, ten times worse than when he went in. They had him for nearly 2 hours, and they acted like he was a bad dog when I told them up front he doesn't like having his nails trimmed. The staff looked scrubby that day, and skeezy. I wonder what they did to my poor little guy while the held him for 2 hours, cause they didn't seem to groom him at all, more less give him a spa experience. Never again. read more

As for the store, it is just as good as any other pet store... But what I really suggest is their FREE puppy play time every saturday morning. It is great for socializing your puppy in a safe environment. My puppy started out very shy and submissive but after coming to the play group for a few weeks he really came out of his shell. There is a big room in the basement for the larger more hyper puppies, and a smaller separate room for smaller, shy puppies. read more
