Terrible hair cut today.... Groomer has NO idea how to groom a golden doodle....wont be back

SAVE YOUR MONEY- Normally I don't write reviews but this place honestly just cares only for your wallet and not your pets. The first time I went in they clipped my pups nails too far back and one started bleeding. Then they apologized discounted it, so I decided to try them again because I understood mistakes happen. I went back a second time and one of the groomers nicked his bits and I had to get cream and a cone for my dog. Then another discount was applied, and an apology was made. I decided "ok, you know what one more try", everything went well up until not even a day later my puppy got sick with Giardia. Mind you I have strict routine with my little one and this was the only thing outside of my routine with him, and Giardia can be passed from dog to dog if the area is not properly sanitized. So I decided to call them not only to make them aware but to also be refunded because at this point I'm just not satisfied with the service qualities. When I addressed my issues and concerns with one of the workers there, she said the manager would get back to me, a week goes by and heard nothing so decided to follow up and when I did someone I believe by the name of "Alex" could be wrong on that but whatever. Alex answered and when I explained the situation for a third time he just chuckled and said "yea the manager will get back to you", and before I could ask when he just hung up the phone. I'm absolutely appalled by the carelessness, and the customer care. I ALSO STILL HAVENT BEEN REFUNDED LIKE HOW I WAS PROMISED GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I gave this place a fair try and kept going because they had good reviews. With that said don't believe the hype on this place, and take your furry friend elsewhere. read more

It is so hard to find cat groomers. When we first found this place they had a gentleman there who was incredible with cats and we were very satisfied. However in the past year it seems he left and we have not had one good experience since. They inexplicably increased their prices to almost double! Without warning I might add. they cannot justify their prices for cats stating that no matter what it is this price even if they barely do anything. Twice now our cat has came home with poop stuck to his hair, they did not trim his nails, and he was a puffball of hair. I can tell when he is groomed well, and for $130 he should be shining! WONDERFUL!!! I called Urban Dogg last minute, needing 2 Grooming's for my Boxer and Saint Bernard Puppy before a big weekend visiting with family. My schedule was tight, and Justin was able to get me in quick at the Wash Park location. Upon arriving to the store, I was greeted by Jason who was equally as friendly and welcoming. He was friendly with the dogs and made them feel right at home. When picking them up, I was so pleased to see that they had all become friends and that they were relaxed and happy. The grooming was flawless, and definitely worth the pricing. While there I picked up a few Tuffy Toys which are Frankie the Saint Bernards favorite. What a wonderful experience! I highly recommend Urban Dogg! THINGS HAVE CHANGED... Sadly, the groomer did a chop chop job on our dog. He looks mangey. Uneven cut, and trimmed areas that have never been trimmed. His big beautiful tail is been butchered. We are so disappointed and will not be coming back for grooming. It's obvious the groomer has not been trained properly. 3 hours and 20 minutes late because I was told a couple of hours and my dogs look horrible. I serious wanted to cry when I looked at my dogs ears. Look how short and the cashier man said because they don't know Havanese. My reply was that they don't know shitszu or Maltese? Same cut! Omg! Shanelle was the groomer and she literally just cut square the ears and one is longer than the other in my girl. To cut like this I know how to do it. She didn't do anything really. Then $158!!! I told the guy I wasn't happy at all. He told me it was 7pm and they were still working. They are overbooking and doing a HORRIBLE job. My dog is 8 and she has never had a bad job like this. I still want to cry. At least she didn't cut their ears off because she didn't do what I requested ( intimate parts, belly and paws). The guy took $40 off Another little dog was there for 5 hours and didn't look good. The woman said never again. read more

My mini labradoodle is 13 years old and groomer, Ashley, gave him the worst haircut in 13 years! When I called Adam, the acting manager, he would not offer a refund for services rendered, and did not offer any options to make the grooming suitable. I have a picture of my dog and my son's dog taken June 20th, 8 weeks ago, groomed by Connie. They both look great! Ashley is terrible !!!!!!! Never let your dog get groomed by her. Howie loved it here! He came out smelling great and they gave him a bandana, in his favorite color :P I called the day before to make the appointment and was able to get in the next day. When I walked in, they were very thorough about what's included in the service and that made me feel more comfortable. The service was a few hours and it was nice to be able to drop him off, run some errands and then come pick him up. They even give you a call 15 min before they're done. My dog has been going to Urban dog for a few years now. She has had good cuts and a couple of bad cuts. The reason I won't be going back is her most recent grooming ended up with a $200 vet bill. I realize it was nothing intentional done to her but the accident has had its costs. This was the second accident of this type. When I picked her up I was told she had had some bleeding. They thought she broke a nail but in actuality she had torn a nail out completely, I wasn't told how this happened. I have an idea of how it could happen and don't feel comfortable putting my pup back into this environment. I've been to this location and the other one and I have to tell you every single employee and even the owner of the business is amazing! I took my dog to Petco and my baby was shaking, not eating for 4 whole days. It was so scary! No idea what happened but we took him to Urban Dogg Wash Park and he was so happy!! Went to pick him up and he had the cutest bandana on him, he was wagging his tail and jumping around, even happy peed. I would recommend EVERYONE to Urban Dogg! To top off this wonderful experience, I love that they have so many options for clothing and toys! They remembered me the next time and every time I have gone in since then. We recently moved from LA to Denver. My dogs mean the world to me and I was so worried about a proper haircut. I walked into Urban Dogg before and it looked like a cute boutique pet store so I decided to give it a try. My terrier mix has an awesome cut and I wanted to make sure it was kept the same. Our groomer was William and he did an outstanding job on both my dogs. Especially the terrier mix. I'll be back for sure. And I'll support extra charges if it means a local business stays alive. My dog was refused grooming because a spot on his back. The vet said it was no big deal and to not worry about it beyond cleaning it. In fact, the vet indicated that grooming him was a great idea and to keep his hair short so that it wouldn't become worse. The spot is gone but the groomer won't see my dog anymore because I gave an unsatisfactory review. I'm updating that review to 1 star and indicating a lack of professionalism. The spot on his back was so small the vet just groomed him and sent him on his way. While I was still willing to use their services, this groomer clearly isn't willing to provide good customer service and their professionalism is lacking. It's inconvenient, but I'm happy to find another groomer, even though I had been with them for years. read more

By far the worst grooming experience I have EVER had in my 30 years of dog ownership. I routinely get my Labradoodle groomed once a month and I brought him in for his monthly cut and tried Urban Dogg as I am here from out of town. I asked the groomer to address the mats around the ears and to trim around his butt. When I picked him up he was TOTALLY shaved to the pink of his skin! The groomer made a unilateral decision to shave my dog without consultation! This would be horrific enough, but considering we are entering the coldest months of the year my dog now has zero coat. I have never seen such incompetence. I also tried to speak with the owner to let him know, and the shop manager refused to give me his number. I would never ever go back to Urban Dogg and would highly advise anyone who loves their dog to run the other direction! read more

Shady business practices. A late fee was tacked onto the bill for picking up my dog four minutes after closing. I understand no one wants to be at work longer than they have to be, but at no time was the potential fee disclosed - written or verbal. Prior to the next visit, the dissatisfaction of the hidden fee was explained to an employee who understood my pain point and stated the prior late fee would be applied as a discount during the next visit. When I showed up, it was explained that management would not honor their employee's attempt to resolve the issue. 1. Hidden fees. 2. Management does not empower nor honor their employees' decisions. Urban Dogg has always done a great job on our dogs grooming but their prices have changed arbitrarily so much that I am paying more for my dogs haircut than a full balayage on my own hair. I mean seriously I don't know how they come up with pricing, I just paid $140 after tip for our doodle that used to cost $80 which felt totally reasonable. I have been going to Urban Dogg Uptown for years and because we moved to south Denver, this was my first experience at the Wash Park location. I already love that they include many "extras" in their grooming service and use products that are herbal and all natural. My sweet Pomeranian mix is 14 years old and needs a little extra TLC when it comes to handling (he is slower than he used to be and has cataracts that make it difficult for him to see clearly). I was blown away by the expertise and genuine kindness of the staff at this location! My dog has never had an issue with getting groomed, but he was very uncomfortable with the sound of multiple dryers and other dogs there (likely due to his age and feeling confused/overwhelmed). Ashley, our groomer, called me and let me know what was going on and recommended bringing him back when he could have some more one-on-one time with her when the environment was calmer. She offered to make a separate appointment, free of charge, to do so. I am blown away that she had his best interest at heart. This shows me she truly loves her career and honestly cares about pets having a wonderful experience when they go see her! I feel relieved to know that my dog isn't just another dollar sign to them, they really care about providing the animals an amazing, relaxing, "spa day." I was so excited to find a groomer that had an opening within a week of me calling, and was so happy that the two people I spoke with were friendly, understanding and helpful. When I dropped my dog off I spoke with the groomer and she said that there were a few spots that would need to be cut shorter to due to some matting, but overall my dog was in good shape and wouldn't need to be fully shaved. I left feeling confident and happy for my girl to finally get a much-needed groom. I was told I'd get a call about 20 minutes before she would be ready to be picked up, which was great since it takes me about that long to get there. But, when they called, they said she was ready then. So she had to wait while I sped across town to pick her up. When they brought her out, I was in shock, she was completely shaved! It didn't even look like my dog. She was super excited though so I didn't really have a chance to look her over. I paid and we left. Once we were home I had a chance to take a look at her and realized not only had she been shaved all the way down, but the shave was uneven, big patches of long her that were very clearly just missed (on her chest, lines down the back of her legs. She had razor burn on both sides of her neck (which she scratched at and had scab over the last two weeks), and her ears had a bunch of longer hairs that were just missed and very obvious. My mom noticed in a PICTURE I sent, that her back nails looked long, so I took a closer look and I don't think they even got trimmed. I also had to spend about an hour pulling little bits of black "stuff" out of her paw pads/hair. Not sure what it was, but I had to clean it all out and even trim some of the gunk out. What was that?! Before I took my dog in, I had recommended Urban Dogg to a couple people since the calls with them had been pleasant and I'd heard good things. But since my appointment, I've talked to a few others who went and they had similar experiences: grooms that were choppy/incomplete, not executed as discussed, and overall disappointment. For the cost of the groom, I would have expected a better outcome. :( The two stars are only because everyone I spoke to was nice, and I also like the assortment of items in the shop. I was not happy with my experience there. I made an appointment for my cat and he wasn't groomed very well. He got the deshedding treatment, but was still loosing hair at the same rate afterwards. Also, when I went to pick him up, a groomer's dog ran out of the store. Someone yelled at me to stop him, and so I blocked him from running into the street. The dog ended up peeing on my foot and biting me. My fingernail is now deeply bruised and might fall off. They gave me a bandaid and took $10 off the overpriced groom. In no way do I blame the dog, I blame the unprofessional groomer for bringing their dog to work, knowing that the dog will try and run into the street. After the entire ordeal I was very, very demoralized to see that my cat received a sub-par groom that I had to finish myself for almost $100. I will not be returning again. read more

Kimberly did an amazing job making my puppy, Chai, feel better about getting a bath. She doesn't love getting wet but it's clear that didn't stop her from getting a thorough and efficient cleaning.
