HORRIBLE! SALON REVIEW ONLY! Took our two boys to get a wash and a de-shredding treatment, they forgot to do the de-shedding so it cost us $100 to get two pugs washed... Manager Tacia said next time Ill do it and wont charge you... Fast forward to today. I took them in and the manager Tacia is acting like I made the whole story up... After dealing with her bad attitude she decides to comp the shedding treatment and takes the dogs... Fast forward three hours later, the dogs are sitting here wet, I had to take their collars off so they dont rash up, and look at my shirt... This petco is a little far from home but I like going here because of a really friendly worker. He always helps and never hesitates to give me suggestions on better items for my pets! Recently went and sadly he was not there. Instead there was someone named Ben and I got a very uneasy energy from them. I walk into this petco to buy my cats some collars And while I was at it I decided to take my daughter to go look at the animals one of her favorite things to do at petco. We went to see the rats, birds and mice which all looked very ill and unhappy.. And finally the fish. To my surprise I could not believe what I saw Fish fighting for their lives!! Being sucked into the filter by the bunches in one tank some were halfway sucked in with only their head peaking out and others their whole body, being vacuumed in and I could still see their Gil's moving! I thought maybe it was just one tank but NO sadly most of them were the same. How could a place that promotes the love and care for animals let this happen? You would think they would do something about it because there are ways to prevent the fish from being sucked into the filters. It's horrible .. All the animals seemed to be under lack of care. I do recall if your an employee at petco you have to have an admiration for animals.. But no one apparently at this one. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I got in line around closing time behind 5 other customers. I asked the manager who was walking by if he was going to open another register and he said, without even stopping, "unfortunately that's the only register open" in a very dismissive way, not in an apologetic customer service friendly way. Then he quickly exited to his office. There were at least 4 other registers and 3 employees that I saw. I then asked one of the other employees who was just standing by the door if they COULD open another register and he seemed to indicate that there was nothing he could do. It seemed like he thought it was stupid to have a long line of people at one register at closing time too. I handed him my my stuff and left. Every pet supply store has the same product, so skip the encino petco and give someone else your business. read more

I bring my cocker spaniel here all the time. I swear he knows he's where he's going the minute he gets out the car. He seems so excited to be there and starts jumping up and down to get into the door for his bath and haircut. They have a buy 10 get 1 free deal on grooming with your petco pals card... I'd forgotten all about it until the coupon came in the mail! There were no gimmicks attached, and it was a true, free full grooming or full bath. I usually get the works package, but this was perfect and included his usual haircut. I've never had a problem with him getting nicked or cut and they've always followed my wishes with him being cut lower than normal and not receiving his usual cocker cut. I have seen them get a little frustrated with owners that don't understand why they can't clip their hissing cats claws... but other than that it has always been a pleasure to use their services for me and my boy. read more

Walked in and saw it was labeled $43, which is $9 more than their own website. I pulled up Petco's website on my phone and asked a clerk if she could sell it to me for the advertised price. The people over here at this location are always very welcoming and are all very knowledgable about the products .... My puppies love them and I'm so happy that they carry a lot of different foods and anything we immediately would need . One of the fish I got from there died soon and when I went back their employee with the glasses I forgot his name he took his time and went over every little detail about to take care of them with me . A couple of years ago, we adopted a dog who, let's just say, has some issues. I searched for training classes that were appropriate, but they were all very expensive. Desperate, and after a friend's recommendation, I thought I would give Petco a try. Sarah was so accommodating, and patient with my timid, and somewhat aggressive little dude. I wasn't sure that the regular training class was the right choice for him, but she made the goal getting him socialized- not necessarily having him learn commands. It happens that he also learned some commands, as did I. He also made progress by interacting with new people, and being around other dogs. It sounds like small steps, but for us, they were really huge! Jacqueline is also really terrific! She always greeted us, and made a point of trying to interact with Brodie before he tried to run and hide in the training room. There were a couple of times that there were misunderstandings about the class having been cancelled (when I wasn't told), and the manager was always very nice, and went out of her way to apologize. I would recommend this Petco, but since Sarah is leaving to focus on school, I'm not sure about the next trainer. read more

I took my puppy Pitbull Terrier to Petco. She LOVED it. I got her a new collar. Treats. Shampoo...uh oh. bath time! she met a little cocker spaniel friend. and all in all it was a pretty painless process. Went in there to find out about their Pet Vaccination. Pretty affordable. The staff in the store is extremely sweet, they even remember my puppy by name. However, stay away from the groomer! I took my puppy in there today to get her nails trimmed and the girl working there was extremely rude and incompetent. I would've gave this location 5 stars if it wasn't for her working there. After making me wait and giving unnecessary attitude, she takes one glance at my puppy and says that her nails are as short as they can be and that she can't do anything unless I want her to make my puppy bleed!! Are you kidding me?? Her nails had never been cut before and they were extremely sharp. Ok, can we just talk about the level of RUDENESS I experienced today? I popped in to buy some dog food early in the morning 9/10/16 and there was a cashier ringing up a LARGE sale. There was another employee standing by the other cash register talking to an employee how someone calls out all the time blah blah blah.. WHO CARES!!!! I looked at her like umm hello do your job and ring me up and she flat out said, "Do you NEED something?!!" Excuse me?! Am I interrupting your very important conversation while you're on the clock?! My 5/5 is solely for Christian in aquatics. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well maintained the fish are. Petcos are notorious for selling sick/depressed fish but his passion for our little aquatic friends shows. He also showed me great products to keep them happy and healthy. Not a fan overall...their location and parking are good, and they do have a good supply of different foods, treats, toys etc...but it is SO difficult to see the mice, rats, guinea pigs and fish, lizards (and whatever else they currently may have!) etc...not in good condition and treated like some expendable item. Live creatures should NOT be kept in pet stores or sold like this. And the rats (one of the most intelligent and sweetest creatures around!!!) are often being sold as food!! Horrible! I do think, however, in fairness, last time I was in I might have seen a sign that stated their creatures are not for "feeders", but honestly who is going to come in and ADMIT they are buying that sweet "medium" rat for snake food? Bottom line: PLEASE stop selling live animals of any kind. read more

This store marks my first ever experience with anything pet related... I came in to Petco on a Saturday morning as later that day I was to adopt two little kitties (which have turned out to be THE most awesome cats EVER!!) Anyways, I had to get it all - food, snacks, litter box, freshstep, toys etc etc... Let's just say that I was very glad and lucky to have my sister there with me.. There was no salesman/ staff member in sight! I must have circled the Cat Section about 100 time, lol, just like an indoor nascar race wtf haahaa Eventually my sister and I found everything.. Grand total of $130.00 (out of which $35.00 was towards a carrier cage thingy). I guess the price is ok? I don't actually know, I am still new at this cat owning world and still checking out products/ prices and whichever relates 3 stars for convenience, having everything at one location and variety, I guess.. And I would also like to mention that the refund for the carrier was nice and easy. Will I be back? Probably only out of desperation as I discovered a pet shop next to work which is 10 times more inviting with A class service... I'd put a link, as a good "Elite" should, but I need to search it on Yelp first LOL... It's probably gonna be my next review, so find it there!!! :)) read more
