Walked in today looking for a couple of fish and usually I am helped right away even when busy. Today I walked in and waited for over 25 minutes trying to get assistance but as customers walked in I patiently waited until the shop was clear of people and assumed that the two employees looking at me every five minutes would come to assist me in what I needed but instead one of the two walked away and the other stayed at the register looking out the window as if she wasn't on the clock. After having enough of the awful service I walked out and then they asked if I needed assistance when I was obviously upset and proceeded to tell me to have a good day. I will be following up with the head office as being a former employee of a big name pet shop this is no way to treat customers who spend lots of money there. read more

4 1/2 stars My dogs love coming here for grooming and nail trims. All of them are over 80 lbs so I have to say kudos to the grooming staff for handling these boys!! You know how some breeds can be when they see people .. like MMA fighters out on the town. This is a review for mostly the groomers. I have been taking my dog to the groomers here for a nail trim and bath for over a year. I was traumatized when I saw how forcibly my dog's vet was with him when he was having his nails trimmed, so I brought him to Petco. I really like Misty. She is very kind and great with the dogs. My dog HATES to get his nails trimmed. Misty was patient and did an awesome job. The store itself is always clean and has staff available for questions. read more

I had a very complicated return ....I bought it online and paid with PayPal but it didn't fit my dogs. I went to a different store return but they told me they couldn't give me refund only credit since I bought online with PayPal. I called customer service they told me no they were wrong go back. Warning - there is a hidden "policy" of never grooming senior dogs - which they define as dogs 12 and older. Nothing was said about this when I booked the appointment online. After I was refused service, because my dog is 13, I called Petco's main toll free number and was told that policies are set store-by-store for grooming. Petco itself has no information or input as to policies for groomers. So if you have a senior dog, don't waste your time with these folks. read more

Took my lively young dog in to see Brie and she was great with my dog. Brie took great care of him, and we will definitely be back. While I was waiting for my dog to be groomed, I walked around the store and everyone else was really attentive, asking if I needed help and answering questions expertly. Do not take your dog grooming here. They abuse the animals. I took my dog grooming while looking through the window I saw how he was abusing my puppy. He was yanking on my dogs legs, Hitting him with the brush. My dog was shaking on the table. He is usually very happy to go grooming when I take him different places. But this place he was so upset. I even told the workers and one of the girls saw him yanking on my dogs leg. She went in and talked to him. When I went close to pick up the dog from the groomer I smelled alcohol off him. I brought him home and his behind and his legs where all shaved off. It was an awful experience. read more

I'll start by stating I've taken my dogs to this Petco twice. I reserved judgment as I believe locations can have a bad day. For my first experience, check-in of my two dogs was good. When I returned to pick them up, one of my dogs was still wet. The employee told me that they didn't use the blower machine because they felt my dog was timid. My dog was 6 years old. This wasn't her first bath. Nonetheless, I forgave and moved on. For what I paid, the bath didn't seem impressive. For my second visit, we were pressed for time and options and thus elected to take them to Petco because of availability. I'll give them that, they are available. Again, check-in was easy. I asked them to make sure both dogs were dried up and explained the previous experience. They said they would call when both were ready. A reasonable time later, they were ready for pick up. My dogs seemed in good spirits. They smelled good too. I pet one of them and brushed his hair down to his tail. There was a lot of hair coming out. I asked the dogs were brushed to which they said yes. Once we got home, I started petting them and more and more hair came off. I spent the next half hour brushing them only to get half a bag full of hair out of one of my dogs. To add to that, my hand was covered with dirt. It seemed as though they had barely been washed and perhaps only sprayed with a perfume. Overall, one could assume that the dogs were sprayed with water, dried, and then sprayed with a perfume. We've visited other places that leave my dogs with soft clean fur. I wouldn't go back to this place unless I was in an absolute pinch and couldn't even was the dogs myself. read more

Brigette is the ABSOLUTE BEST dog trainer, don't accept any substitutes! We went from a scared, reserved and quiet puppy to Therapy Dog in just a few months. The tips and tricks she taught us were amazing. We could not sing her enough praises, truly. Don't spend money on more expensive training centers or even other Petco's, ask for Brigette and you will be well on your way to having the perfect companion. Petco did a recent remodel for the dog training that leaves a lot to be desired. Petco needs to listen to there customers and dog trainers and put in larger dog trainging areas, not smaller. . read more

took the dog to Petco for her semi-annual bath/cut. Was told that my dog was too old and they could not groom her, even tho they did so 2 months ago. Why they didn't tell me this on the phone, I do not know. I had to drive 10 miles over there to find out they didn't want the job. I used to buy my food here but I WILL NOT anymore. This is not a review for my groomer. I have taken my dog there several times to be groomed. Alma does a great job. This review is because when I walked in today to make an appointment for my dog, a young man was in the room working on a very shaky little dog. He seemed more focused on the super loud rap music he had blasting in the room while he worked. I am pretty sure that is not conducive to a relaxing environment for the dogs. I have 2 dogs, both very sweet and well behaved at the groomers. I used to allow Petco to groom my dog, but the last time was over 3 years ago. On that particular visit, I explained, as I always did in the past, that my cocker spaniel, Bella easily gets ear infections when too much water gets in her ears, so be careful. There was a new groomer on that day and sure enough got water in Bella's ear and an ear infection resulted. I incurred vet bills between the visit and meds to treat the infection, but I did not make a complaint, merely switched groomers. I found Tender Touch just down the street and a highly skilled and loving groomer named Ashley...she is amazing in so many ways, but for the purposes of this review, both of my dogs come back spotless, happy and injury free when in her care for the past 3 + years. Between the two dogs, I pay probably $30 more, but for the peace of mind, it is well worth it. My dogs were well over due for a bath and Ashley was, unfortunately, out on a training and would not be back until January. So, I bit the bullet and made an appointment with Petco Granada Hills. I dropped them off a little before their 10:00 AM appointment where I was told it would take 3-4 hours. This raised an eyebrow because I was not asking for a haircut and the two dogs have never taken over 2 hours for just a bath, my other dog is a dachshund and weighs only 20 lbs. After 1:00 PM, I called to check the status of my dogs. I was told that they would be at least another hour. I expressed concern and asked why the holdup. I was told that one of my dogs was done, but Bella was just up on the table...which means she sat in a cage for almost 3 hours waiting for a bath...why do customers make an appointment? I picked my dogs up around 2:30 PM, not happy, expressed my displeasure, paid my bill and left a tip. I get home and started petting Bella whose ear flopped back in the process and saw absolute filth under not one but two ears. I took photos, went right back to the store, showed the grooming manager the pictures and he says, "Well, because you only paid for a bath and not a haircut, there is no way that the dirt can be gotten off." (Cut and/or bath at Tender Touch, Ashley returns Bella clean as a whistle, especially on the inside of the ears) He was outwardly annoyed with my complaint, but the manager offers to give me my money back and brings me to the register. I tell him that I do not have the receipt because I gave it to him upon pickup. Twice he says to me, "I am absolutely CERTAIN I gave the receipt back to you." Two minutes later, he meets me back in line and hands me the receipt...I have to ask him to apologize to me. The groomer did a fine job with my other dog who does not have long hair, but when I returned home, I started cutting away the hair that had stuck on dirt and realized that they actually didn't even brush that area nor did they brush the under part of her chest or under Bella's hind legs. I almost never write reviews and the ones that I have written are positive. Be aware if you have a high maintenance dog...spend the extra money. I learned that next time I will live a few more weeks with a stinky dog rather than put my little buddy through that again...how careless and uncaring. read more

We've been coming to this petco for a while now and have brought our dog here for training as well. We came today to get our dog groomed. When we brought our dog in, we told the girl in grooming that our dog does not like you to get close to his face. He's a shelter dog and has experienced some trauma. She did not listen and got close and he barked and nipped at her. He did not make contact. She then said that she could not work on him and sent us on our way. She also was removing his color when she was close to his face and then when we left, his collar was lost in the store. When I called to speak to her about the interaction, she lied and said my dog bit her and that she has been working there for 6 years, implying that she is professional. Apparently not. Because why would you put your face in the face of a dog you are not familiar with? And my dog did not bite her. She even told the manager that he didn't get her. She changed her story when I called to complain. I will never come back here again. I have never had this kind of experience with our dog at professional grooming places. So bummed and so sad. read more

By far one of the best Petcos i have been too, the workers are so friendly and helpful. My brother came home with a baby iguana and we had no idea as to what he needed, we were completely lost. We took our new pet to Petco and one of the workers (I forgot her name) helped us sooooooo much, she was super nice and helpful. She gave us a little information on iguana's and guided us throughout the whole process of buying his cage, food, etc. She even gave us a big discount! This location just opened in this remodeled plaza in the valley. Me and the gf bought the wrecking crew brand new foam beds which were a bit overpriced but i paid for the convenience. Today we took advantage of Petco's Grooming Service. The total was $88 bucks for a full bath plus a teeth cleaning for 2 doggies. Overall, I wish the prices were lower. If you bring your pet here make sure to tip the groomers for a job well done. read more

Friendly dog groomers. Unfortunately we got a goldfish here that had 2 strange thread like growths on it's side and I asked the "aquatic specialist " about it before proceeding to checkout. The grooming Department especially Alma and Roger are incredibly amazing and friendly but the grooming price is way too much. The store cashier with my recent visit was very nice and very helpful too. However, with my last grooming visit sometime is September, the store cashier was horrible! I had to go back 3x to have a coupon credited for the grooming because the cashier will not accept a picture of the coupon that I texted to my daughter when she was picking up her dog. The Cashier desk have a lots of grooming coupons that he could have just given her one to use instead of the inconvenience over $6. I did go back that same night for the cashier to tell me that he needed the actual receipt because he could not find it in the computer. This is another non-sense! I went back the next morning out of principle and had my daughter texted me the receipt. But the lady cashier told me that she cannot process it because she needed the number on the receipt which is covered by my daughter's finger. OMG! At this point I really lost it and I told her that I am not accepting any BS anymore and she has to process it. She then told me that she has to go to the back computer and search the transaction. All the excuses dealing with the incompetent Petco Staff is totally unacceptable and this starts with the Manager who is not training his/her staff with excellent customer service. read more

The employees at this petco seem to not care. Multiple times while in to buy dog food, there has been no one at the register. Today, when there were 10 Customers in line to purchase items, there was one register open and a free employee standing to the side having a conversation. When he finally opened a second register, paid no attention to the order of customers in line and passing over people who had been waiting. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Wish I could give no stars. Two of my dogs contracted ringworm and a secondary skin infection from dirty grooming tools at petco Granada hills. Was promised by the district manager petco would pay for our vet bills if I was able to obtain a letter from a vet saying the diseases might have come from petco. I got two vets to write letters, one of whom says there's "no doubt in my mind" that the dogs' illnesses came from substandard grooming in Granada hills petco. I submitted the records and my bills and now petco refuses to honor their word to pay our vet bills. I've never had worse customer service--and that includes the time they cut my dog's leg while grooming and he had to be rushed to the local emergency vet. STAY AWAY. read more

I took my dog here for grooming several times. They do a good job as far as grooming, but twice my dog came home with a bruise on his leg, and once it got infected. Also once when I went to pick up my dog he was barking like crazy and not letting the worker near him. My dog is super friendly and doesn't bark at strangers like this, so I'm kind of doubtful about the way they might have treated him. After that day I usually ask for Alma, since he seems to be ok with her. read more

I'm a fan of anything for pets, but sometimes if you are in a hurry and there is only 1 person at the counter and you are rushing to get kitten formula, pick up kid from school before they close, it can be frustrating. But I love all they do and stuff available to buy. read more

It's a pet store, generally the people are real helpful, the only incident I had there was that the store manager (she is a petit lady with dark hair and relatively short) was helping an elderly gentleman out and I was in front of them, went to my car and the car next to me was parked literally two inches from my car and was crooked, well I couldn't get in and I have a stick shift so I opted to wait and see if the driver will come, well low and behold that car belonged to the elderly gent, so I asked him, why did you park so close, I need a can opener! And I was being sarcastic, so she jumped in and answered for him and was extremely rude. I try not to go to that location anymore. read more
