The manager Jessica was horribly rude and ill mannered at this location. She is so disrespectful and unprofessional. I had two returns with both receipts and my card that I purchased them with. They were having system glitches and their store lights were going on and off. In stead of saying sorry we are having system issues she asked for my ID and scanned it three times when I asked why she said because you made too many returns without a receipt and now it's asking for your ID. I have neverrrr returned anything without a receipt and I told her that. She didn't even apologize and was so confused of what to do. It took like 20 mins to return 3 items and at the end she didn't say thank you or sorry. Shame on her. She is unfit for her job because of such poor customer service!!!!!! read more

To start off... We have been taking our 6 year old husky to this location for years and before that another location in Van Nuys. He has never been denied service at a location EVER. As any experienced and intelligent dog lover would know, huskies shed A LOT during the change of seasons. My husky loves to eat his fur for some strange reason that neither 2 vets can explain! So with him doing this, he tends to build up fur in his throat and cough it up in the form of a white spit with his fur wrapped up inside it. Today, while arriving at his appointment, he did this in front of the desk worker of which name is of no importance as he was nobody there. BUT then comes out a girl named MELISSA the "Grooming Manager", who without even greeting us or apologizing, looks up and down at me and my 12 year old daughter and says "We can't take him" in the rudest tone possible. I explained the circumstances of my dog and that he has been there many times in that condition and has never been denied care. The way she looked at us made me feel she made her choice based on our SKIN COLOR OR APPEARANCE as I have tattoos on my arms. I don't know why someone like her is in a position of power there, but then again, Petcos standards have been dipping in the last 2 years. To top it all off she walks away from me while explaining my position which was completely unprofessional. Today at 5:30 I get a phone call telling me that my appointment was cancelled and the next available appointment was the middle of June! That's a other 2 weeks away! Debating to Even have given 2 stars this time around. I have been grooming my dog here or porter ranch several times and never had an issue. This time, I brought my doodle puppy who has always been mobile groomed and I knew better. He went in fluffy and a tad matted on his chest since we had not had his professionally groomed for the holidays. He has never been shaved or needed to be shaved even if he has some knots in certain areas. We do brush him btw. Our ongoing groomer always trims him down but he always has his goat. This time I got a call from petco saying he was matted and would need to be shaved down. I was not happy about it and told them he has never needed to be shaved down. I knew better to not take him here because I've read they always shave doodles and don't like to comb or dematt them if needed. I obviously gave them the ok not thinking I would pick up my dog to literally his skin shaved down. My puppy was not himself for 1 week he looked like he was sick, hiding and licking his thigh area and tail. It was horrible! I then noticed he has scabs probably from being nicked and they didn't tell me. His tail on the top portion was shaved and chafed I had to apply ointment also on his groin/pelvic area both razor burns. I'm really disappointed and this was a stylist I once trusted with my other dog. I will not be brining any of my pets back here sadly. Nonetheless any poodle or doodles should not be groomed here. read more

What a great experience we had at Petco today. We were looking for a harness for our stubborn, beautiful pup. He loves other dogs but can be snippy. We took him into the store to make sure the harness would fit properly. A young man named Michael was extremely helpful. He was patient, and explained the harness to us. The one he thought would work the best was not in stock so he researched other stores and gave us locations to find it. We bought the second best one that they did have and will try it out. But thank you, Michael, you made what could have been a very stressful experience so much more pleasant. We will be back!!! read more

I want to give this store five stars for its staff and especially its manager Sharon. i've been taking my Seshan Gordon in for trimming and bathing, alternately. When I took him in yesterday for a bath, Alma ended up phoning me letting me know that his power was sensitive and there was something wrong with his dewclaw. Alma requested that I pick him up right away and not continue with the bath. when I got there I was nervous and concerned and the manager Sharon came in right away and put me at means by volunteering to take me to the nearest spot to get golden checked out, so we could both sleep that night knowing he was taken care of. Sharon sat with me at the vets office for 3 1/2 hours, I would've done the same thing in her position and I am so grateful that she cared enough about my dog and wanted to put my mind at ease. I will be taking Gordon back for a bath in a couple weeks, because I know he is loved and taken care of there. Thanks again! read more

Location is clean, and pleasant. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Prices at this location are very reasonable. My wife and I came here a few days ago to add an extra blessing to our family and gift to our boys. We ended our visit here with a purchase of a elephant eared Betta fish, along side a tank with filter, water treatment, food, extra filters, and tank accessories. All and all we ended up spending $80 all together which isn't bad for what we got in return. And making the decision on what we wanted was not a challenge, thanks to the staff who were knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. Up until today, I would have rated this Petco store as at least 4 Stars for the grooming experience. I guess I should say this review doesn't reflect on that experience but my dismay with Petco corporate's sudden exclusion of my pet because she's on a pain med for her hips. The reason we took her to a vet was because the groomers at this store suggested a visit for her dysplasia. She is prescribed Carporfen, basically, doggy Advil and she is a new, happier animal, making it immensely easier to get her in the car, up on tables and the bathtub. At the scheduled appointment, we were turned away because Petco called the store yesterday (according to the groomer) to tell them they were to begin to enforce a "safety" rule barring pets on any medication. It would have been nice to see the exclusion on their online appointment page, not made the appointment and not have driven the 7 miles to the store for nothing. This policy seems to me to be arbitrary and discriminatory and it's difficult to understand what "safety" is involved, especially, for a simple pain medication. So for you at Petco Corporate, you suck and this store will bear the brunt of this negative review for your litigation-phobic and ridiculously unspecific guidance to your employees. read more

I have a mini Pati Yorkie, brought the picture in how I wanted his hair cut, supposed to be Evelyn the person to groom my 11m pet, She called me 1/2 h after and said that she did a bath because my pet tried to bite the shears, when I picked up my puppy, it has missed a chunk of hair on the top of his head, that is the only ting she did. My question is, why she didn't called me indicating that she couldn't his hair instead or mess my puppy's hair? Petco grooming manager should be on top of the groomers because like this lady , if she couldn't feel she could do it maybe the manger should tell her to don't do it and call the pet owner and not do what she did. I picked up my Maltese today from here and I was in shock to what my dog looked like. The hair cut was unbelievably bad, uneven cuts, just really messed up. I paid $60 and that's a lot of money. The worker stated that my dog tried to "bite him" my dog has been going to Petco since he was a puppy and not once has he bit anyone. When i asked about why the ears are uneven and not cut, the worker also stated "When i was cutting his legs he tried to bite me." I don't see what the ears have to do with the legs. Today I took my puppy in for her first grooming appointment. Her nails were trimmed. She did fantastic and I was a proud mommy. The facility was clean and very Covid aware. I felt safe and that the areas were properly sanitized and maintained. It was quite busy but everyone was so polite and friendly. I have to give a special shout out to Brie!!!!! She knew that it was mine and my puppy's first time there and she was patient, loving and just wonderful. She made the experience awesome. Sally did really well and although she was nervous and scared Brie was a natural. This is really a nice quality to see in customer service and in her hiring. If I could give this store a 0 star, I could. I'm sure that I'm not the only crazy pet mum out there but when it comes to the well-being of my fur child, especially with live or death, I take it very seriously. It's a shame that PETco values money more than the wellbeing's of the pets. What a disgrace. I recently got a 2 week kitten who does not have any teeth yet and was still drinking milk. His mum run away so I took him in. I bought a bottle from this Petco to feed my kitten and the nipple broke while my kitten was drinking from it. He swallowed the nipple within 5 mins of using it. The bottle I bought was defective, it was made from such cheap plastic that it broke in my week kittens mouth. I freaked out and called the vet, now my kitten needs surgery. I called Petco and informed them about the unfortunate situation, the man I talked to did not show sympathy at all, nor did he apologize. He listened to me and said he will transfer me to his manager. He then put me on hold for about 20 minutes, picked up again and asked, you still there ? He sighed when I said yes like he was disappointed that he didn't hang up... he said the manager was not there and he said I should call PETCO corporate. He then blamed it on my cat by saying that "your cat prob chewed it off" my kitten is 2 weeks old, it doesn't have teeth. I never got a apology from that man. If a store does not care about the wellbeing of animals then they should not be open. I understand that PETco is a huge corporation and they make a lot of money off other people's pets but that does not excuse them to produce/sell defective items. I'm by all means not saying that every employee from PETco needs to love my pet as much as I do, but you should at least have some respect for other people's pet- because they are part of our life, part of us. I was just regularly shopping for my new puppy, getting her a new collar and tag, then all of a sudden I feel dizzy so I had my dog to my sister and tell her I was going to head outside to cool off. I don't even make it out the door, I faint and fall to the floor right by the cashiers, and I wake up alone, no help. I had to ask the cashier for help, and a worker (don't remember the name) comes to help me up. Then, she brings me a cup of water and tells me to sit outside so I can cool down. This five-star review is for Lisa in grooming! I took my sixty-pound AmStaff in for nail trimming, paw hair clipping, ear cleaning, and teeth cleaning. I was having trouble clipping her nails at home so I expected the visit to take forever. It took ten minutes. Lisa is a professional! She is kind, caring, and gentle. My dog is stubborn and pancakes when she doesn't get her way, but Lisa was patient with her. I watched her work her magic and my dog got through it fine. Lisa also recommended coming back in for a nail trimming every two weeks because my dog's quicks are so long. Even my vet didn't give me that advice! Bottom line, Lisa is great at what she does and I won't hesitate to bring my dog back in or recommend Lisa to other people looking for groomers. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED BY ISAAC SCHEDULE YOUR GROOMING WITH BRETT I took my Senior dog to get groomed on Saturday, I explained to Isaac everything there is to know about my dog prior to his grooming and explained I will like a short even cut all over. He took notes and wrote "even all over" An hour later I received a call from Isaac asking If I want my dog to have a teddy bear cut on his face and again I responded "short and even all over'' 30 minutes after the first call Isaac calls to notify that my dog is ready for pick up. I hurry over to pick up my dog and Isaac is out on break. As another groomer is bringing my dog out, I notice my dog's haircut is uneven, his tail has not been trimmed and I also notice that my dog has sustained a cut on his paw from the grooming. I waited 25 minutes for Isaac to get back from his break and he came back and asks me what I don't like about the hair cut. I explained it's not even, his tail has not been trimmed and that my dog has sustained a cut and Isaac's response was "yeah I know". Isaac started to get an attitude with me and said that just because I'm upset about my dog having a cut on his paw doesn't mean he should be upset over it. As I'm watching my dog get his hair cut corrected by Isaac I notice another groomer named Brett grooming a dog and I'm noticing how gentle and kind he is being with the dog so I memorize his name for a future grooming appointment but little did I know he will be the one correcting my dog's haircut that day. When Isaac comes back out with my dog once again my dog still has an uneven haircut and a new cut on his tail. I let Isaac know that my dog was bleeding and his response was "yes I know, I see that" I realize by Isaac's condescending attitude that Isaac just doesn't care about anything or anyone so I began knocking at the glass door and asking Brett to please finish my dog's haircut. I can see Brett was a little surprised by my request but he cleaned up his station and corrected my dog's haircut and was very kind to my dog. I did express my dissatisfaction with Isaac to the Manager and the Manager was very understanding and kind. Do not take your Dog to Isaac. He doesn't care about your pet. read more

Most horrible place to shop as purchase harness for my dog and a chain for my dog second time I put on the harness it busted. they will not replace it because I did not keep the receipt however I just bought it last month and it sits on their counters on shelves identical items and the same thing for chains they said it's my job to contact the manufacturer, if I knew that the harness will bust I would never buy it there. Hmmm?... I'm not sure how to feel bout this place?! I do have very mix feelings about the grooming policy. 1st time I took my bullmastiff for a bath it was a great experience. So great that I thought I take my other dog who's a husky... Well when that second time came I went to drop them off and as I was explaining to the girl, my husky is a very nervous dog and has anxiety in new places, groomers and car rides. So I did have to give him a low dose of sedation to help calm his nerves. The girl seemed to understand and was moving slow with him and as she was ready to take him back another girl intervened and said NO!... They don't take animals with sedation! She questioned me as to why I needed to sedate both dogs? I mention 1st both dogs did not get a full regular dose and received only half. I mention again that my husky gets anxiety very bad in car rides, new places and groomers. I also told her that my bullmastiff is only 14 months, 120 pounds and VERY STRONG!... He thinks he's still a puppy and a little lap dog. I was only looking out for the groomers so he wouldn't be such a handful... She went to ask a manager and again they refused to take them. They informed me that I had to reschedule. I offered to sign a waiver or some sort of form. I even said I would call my vet if they wanted confirmation that I'm not bullshitting with them but nope. They would not take them!... So today I took my boys again, this time with NO SEDATION!... My poor husky was so antsy and afraid to walk inside the store to the groomers. My bullmastiff was fine but was coming at full force of excitement. When the girl walked over to take him back he jump on her right away. I felt bad cause the poor girl was small and petite... When I went to pick them up I could hear my husky crying and screaming like crazy!... They mention to me that he was crying the whole time and was so nervous and antsy that he pooped in the kennel and they had to wash him again. If only they would've listened!!!... I told them he was like this and that's why I give him a relaxer. My husky is 6 years old, him going to the groomers was not his 1st time!... this isn't my 1st rodeo people!... I'm not sure if I will be taking my boys back. I'm disappointed that my husky didn't get the great experience that I was hoping for... My wife and I moved to Granada Hills over a decade ago. After we moved to the area, we were happy that the Granada Hills Petco store opened, which is walking distance from our home. We regularly purchase our pet food and supplies from this store. Today, for the first time, we decided to try out their grooming services for our new six month old puppy. We were very disappointed with the service. The grooming service department representative stated that we needed to pay before someone would bring out our puppy. We paid $55 plus a tip before we were able to see our puppy. When the groomer (Ben) brought him out, our puppy looked the same as he did as when we brought him in. Ben, the groomer, admitted that he did not cut his fur because he was "fidgety". As a result, he stated we were not charged the full $65 but instead received a $10 discount. Why did we have to pay for the service, even at the minimally discounted price, if the service was not provided? We were hoping to take our puppy to this store to be groomed going forward but this will be our first and last visit to our neighbor Petco grooming department. We have already made an appointment with another groomer within the week at a non-Petco establishment to receive the services that the Granada Hills Petco store should have performed and for which we paid. read more

However, my neighbor highly recommended this location and said to take my dogs to Alma the manager. I've been taking my three dogs here now for about two years. Alma always does an amazing job, and she's friendly and professional. Also, as far at Petco as a whole, I love shopping here and online because you earn points with cashback on future purposes when you sign up for a Pals Rewards cards. This review is for the groomers, not the store. I don't care of some of the local groomers get fairly low ratings -do not take your pet to this chain. After a recent move to the valley from Downtown, we were looking for a new groomer for our dog. He's 7 and he's been going to local groomers (we miss you, Muttropolitan) for the past 5 years with no issue. But he had a behavioral issue on his first trip to Petco. The staff was courteous, but perhaps overworked. We dropped our dog off at 10am, and weren't called to pick him up until 2:15pm - and learned that there had been some sort of incident with one of the dogs and our dog's treatment could not be completed. Our dog is sensitive and even skittish, but he's warmed up quickly to the neighborhood groomers we've used in the past. After seeing his nerves on edge from a visit to Petco, we won't be taking him back. read more

WONDERFUL!!! I brought my female dachshund/chihuahua mix in to get her glands expressed because she was physically frustrated and sore from them. I walked in and they were able to help me in a very reasonable amount of time. All I know is, my dog went in with her tail between her legs, and came out happy as a clam. Her tail was up and normal, and she was licking my hand all the way home. SHE FELT SO MUCH BETTER. I cannot stress it enough, she was like a whole different dog, completely relaxed, happy, and no more discomfort for her. *ONLY TOOK AROUND 10 MINUTES, AND COST $8 FOR THE GLAND EXPRESSION.* I'm rating this 5 stars because Petco, you made my dog feel wonderful.
