Another place where the crowd might come a little harsh with the reviews! Our precious cat Alfie was all out of food due to a delay on shopping with a leading online pet food merchant, which necessitated this trip to Petco. Unlike another chain that starts with "Pet," Petco had Alfie's food of choice in stock! We also are trying a couple cans of new food that may be a bit healthier for him. He's an indoor cat after all and not immune from the quarantine 15. It was easy to pick out everything online and pay. Nikki named me as someone authorized to pick up the goods, so I swung by this morning and was in and out in 2 minutes. Almost felt like an illicit transaction in a movie or something because it was so smooth and the product was nicely bagged. If the leading merchant doesn't get its act together, we will probably be back here to Petco! read more

I repeat do not bring your dog here to get groomed because they rough handle animals and I don't know what they do in the back, but my dog went in without a scratch on them and came out with red marks on his belly, and he seemed very timid when I picked him up so fuck this place fuck all the people that work here because I even complain to the manager and she said that upon check-in he came in with those red marks that's bullshit and the first time I bought my other dog here they didn't do anything that was asked except for bathe them they didn't clean his ears. I brought my ferret to Petco only to be told he wasn't aloud on the floor. I've been there other times and employees have been fine with him.( he is harnessed and leashed) A person claiming to be the manager said it was because my ferret was a health hazard.(my ferret has both his rabies and Canine distemper shots) If you hate all other animals that aren't dogs please don't work at a pet store. I'll continue to take my ferrets and my money to Petsmart. They have never had a problem with my ferret who is very friendly with people. Just moved to the area from the west coast for military service. Had a hard time finding the brand ACANA for my boys and this location is out of the way, but I'm glad I made the trip. The staff here were so extremely helpful, and friendly. They helped me get signed up for a membership and it was a quick and seamless transaction. Money well spent with big savings thanks to them. Went in to buy a goldfish around 11am, because one of my pair died and the surviving one needed a buddy. Asked an associate to get me a gold fish. He sounded annoyed that I bothered him and said "I can't sell you any fish till after 12 because I have to do inventory." This review refers mainly to the pet grooming department. We take in our dog for nail clipping and smoothing. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the service. No complaints at all there. The only problem is that you can't always get an appointment. Not because it is too busy, but because there is no groomer available. Definitely call for an appointment to be sure that they have a groomer on staff that day. Otherwise you will need to go to the competition. When open and staffed I would give the grooming department at least 4 stars. But since we can't count on that, I'm giving 3 stars. read more

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY LIVE ANIMALS FROM HERE**** and while you're at it, you can buy supplies on line much cheaper from other vendors. Moved to the area recently and thought i'd visit my local Petco to help set up a saltwater tank. they were happy to sell me everything under the sun with a smile on their faces (Jessica is actually extremely nice and pleasant and i greatly appreciated her - she seemed to be the only one genuinely interested in helping and the only one who has been empathetic to the situation since day 1). The tank, the substrate, decorations, food, chemicals - everything they could. When it came time to add life to the tank, they sold me sick animals and infested live rock. Now, i understand that they cannot guarantee that the animals will survive when being introduced to a new environment - that's understandable. However, what they sold me infested my entire tank and crashed the entire eco system. I returned to the store to speak with their "fish expert" (Mike) - on my first visit, he wasn't there, and so i left my name and number to call me back (left info with "Tom" the manager) - never received a call. went in for a follow up visit in person, and got a shoulder shrug from their "fish expert" saying "i've never seen this before" (i brought tons of videos and pictures of the issues). He promised to "look into it" and get back to me, and never did. After returning AGAIN and asking to speak with a manager or someone more knowledgable, i was provided with the Petco main 800 phone number. I reached out to them and asked to be contacted by the District Manager (Clinton). I explained that the situation involved living creatures and was time sensitive as the problem continued to multiply (this was an infestation, not a broken piece of merchandise that i needed help exchanging). The District Manager didn't call me back for over a week, and in fact didnt call me back until i reached out to the 800# for a 2nd time. Once i finally did get in touch with the DM, he asked me to email photos and videos that i had so HE could then research and get back to me. I guess there's some type of corporate policy where Petco associates shouldn't follow up with their customers, and so i didnt hear back for days - again, until I called back to follow up. the DM said he would be able to send me traps for the "hitchhikers" in my tank (he never followed up to deliver on that promise) and that he would look into other types of sea creatures that might be able to "take care of the problem" without needing to introduce harmful chemicals into the ecosystem. This was back in November 2018 and it's now the middle of January 2019. Needless to say i lost the entire tank - had to drain and sanitize everything, and now that i'm starting from scratch, will not buy a single item from petco. I understand that things happen when you deal with living animals and delicate ecosystems, but Petco's lack of care when responding to a customer's issue THAT THEY CAUSED, has cost the lives of the sea creatures, not to mention hundreds of dollars in sunk costs. If you're going to spend the time and money to buy a living creature to welcome into your home and love like part of your family, do your research and find people that know about the animals, where they're from, and how to care for them. It's probably my fault for entrusting a retail store that only cares about profit margins. Lesson learned - never again read more

Sad to give only two stars. I recently moved to the area and couldn't believe how nice and clean this petco was. The store itself was great. I heard many horror stories about the Petco groomers - so I went to meet and question the girl before I took my dog in. She was great, answered all my questions and then some. Unfortunately she was not the one to groom my dog. They told me he'd be done at 1 and I told them I'd be staying. At 1 I went into the grooming area to get him and he was nowhere to be found. Since two other dogs were on the table I assumed he was finished. She said he still had a few minutes and took him out of a kennel freezing and soaking wet. She had put him in there after his bath to deal with the other dogs. Which I think is ridiculous. If you told me he'd be done at 1 he should be done at 1. She had him on the table and she was struggling with him yelling so loud " NO STOP HOLD STILL" I could hear her through two glass windows. Seeing how she was handling him I almost had a stroke. On top of that yelling at him? I understand he wasn't happy to be there but he by no means deserved to get yelled at by some idiot. I immediately went in and told her to just give him to me and we were leaving. Left with my soaking wet dog completely horrified. I honestly had to take every ounce of self control not to scream at her. I not only will never go back to this petco I will never go to another Petco again. I can't imagine how poorly the treat dogs who's parents DON'T STAY to keep an eye on them if this is how she treated my dog while I was watching. Unreal worth the 35$ to know enough never to go back. read more

Absolutely awful experience- DO NOT buy or adopt animals from this store! I went to this Petco to purchase a guinea pig. An associate showed me 2 guinea pigs up for adoption from the back room. He told me these 2 guinea pigs came from the same owner, have lived together their entire lives and that I could only adopt them together. I agreed and adopted both guinea pigs. Later that evening, I discovered a note from the previous owner in the the adoption supplies with her contact information. I gave the woman a phone call to find out more about the guinea pigs eating habits, what they like, etc. The woman had NO IDEA about the second guinea pig! Her guinea pig had been living alone for the past 3 years. Petco made up a COMPLETELY FALSE adoption story to get me to buy both guinea pigs. The two pigs were not getting along and seemed very stressed together. The next day I returned the one guinea pig and a manager informed me it was a "mix-up" and apologized for the false story. It is sad that Petco would lie about an adoption story. I have had my guinea pig now for less than 2 weeks and she has been to the veterinarian three times. I have spent over $300 in veterinarian bills, including an xray. She is very sick and is on two different medications and critical care feeding. It started off with diarrhea, and now she is bleeding frequently in her crate, refusing to eat, and makes little to no bowel movements. I called Petco stating that I have my vet bills and doctors notes and that they have sold me a sick pet. I informed the manager I would be coming in to show her the medical records and that I wanted a refund for my vet bills. The manager agreed on a time to meet with me at the store and NEVER SHOWED UP! This store is extremely unprofessional and clearly has a communication issue among its associates. I was then directed to another store associate who openly admitted she has no guinea pig experience and does not directly deal with guinea pigs, and took down my contact information. My veterinarian informed me that my guinea pig has had a healthy medical record up until the time she was brought into Petco. I believe Petco did not take proper care of my guinea pig and she became very stressed when introduced to another guinea pig so late in her life. I have contacted corporate and am going to continue to take this further. It is extremely unprofessional that the direct store manager STILL has yet to get back to me regarding this issue and then failed to speak to me in person. Simply unprofessional. I came into the store looking to get information about fish and shelter dogs. There were 4 staff members and not one greeted me or offered to help until I walked over to them. The gentleman who I spoke to was very sarcastic and seemed annoyed about my questions. The cashier was very sweet and tried to help me out with all of my questions. She hooked me up with a beta fish tank and answered my questions regarding cleaning and making the fish happy. I will return to the store as they have great products, but I will be very selective with my questions as it was obvious that this guy was not interested. read more

I've always been so hesitate to take my dog Chloe to any groomer however this year her coat has been shedding more than ever so she really needed it! I was a little nervous walking in, then Nicholas, the groomer answered all of my questions and put me at ease with the whole experience, you can tell he really does care and is passionate about what he does. Needless to say when I came back to pick Chloe up WOW!! What a difference! I wish I had before and after pictures.. Literally night and day! I use Petco to buy supplies for my Guinea pig. I also bought her there a few years ago. I have never had an issue with customer service there. In fact they seem to frequently go out of their way to take in rescues, small mammals which you don't see all the time. Every 6 weeks I make an appointment for grooming for Cocoa, with NICK, when I picked her up Nick asked if I saw the lump on her leg, which I did NOT, that day I made an appointment with the Vet and the next day had her had the Vet and they scheduled her for surgery on Tuesday, the lump was removed and send to lab, Results came back it was BENIGN TUMOR, Thanks NICK again for noticing something different on Cocoa that he did NOT see 6 weeks before, You truly love you job of caring for animals and cocoa thanks you and I from the bottom of my heart. Nick outstanding quality and knowledge of animals noticed something different and told the owner so they could do something fast, Any other groomer would overlook it and not say anything and hopefully the owner would find it on there own and in my case that would be to LATE, Thanks again NICK for you fast response and saving my little girl. read more

I must admit I only purchase pet supplies here, I do not use their grooming services. Each time I've been in this store I'm greeted by an associate. They carry my dog's food and it is usually on the shelf, if it isn't they never hesitate to check the back stock for me. The prices are good and using the Pals card is a great bonus. I absolutely prefer Petco to PetSmart hands down and the staff in this location is the best! read more

The first time we took our Chihuahua for a nail clipping it worked out fine. The groomer was friendly and put our nervous puppy at ease. It's been down hill since. I don't know why they post business hours for grooming services because on at least three occasions we were met with a dark room and no groomers to be found. When asking the store employees or the store manager where the groomer is they come up with all kind of excuses. We gave her the day off for her birthday or (and this was my favorite) he ran to Walmart to buy treats for the dogs he grooms? Really? Does he not work in a store that sells pet treats? Today we arrived 50 minutes before the posted closing hours for the groomer (not the store) for a quick nail trimming and closed again even though we confirmed yesterday that their hours would be till 5 today. The dog gets stressed out when she has to get trimmed and to be met with closed doors and to reattempt another day is just unnecessary. Management needs to step up their game and hire people that want to work or corporate needs to hire managers that know how to run a business! read more

Let me start by saying I have been to this location several times and was never too thrilled about the people that work there, as they do not seem to be pet friendly. This location also does not sell any gastro-intestinal food (aka prescription dog food for my boys upset stomach. I am ommiting my dogs name for privacy reasons as my last experience was very upsetting. We went in to purchase a sweater for the upcoming storm and a very bored groomer approached us and convinced me to have my boy groomed as the discount for a first timer would be handsome. Within the first few minutes I heard my boy scream and I went running to see what all the fuss was about. I found the woman who was supposed to be grooming my boy and the other groomer talking about how bored they were while I proceeded to go into the back room, which I was told was for employees only, and found my little man stuffed in a very tiny crate with a giant tube blasting air on him to dry him. He was petrified as he usually get hand dried. I asked the groomer why she wasnt hand drying him and she said they usually do when they are not busy. I asked her what she was talking aobut, because my boy was the only client at the time. I also asked her why she wasnt at least keeping an eye on him, and this woman could not give me a straight answer or an apology. I asked for the check and went to the register to pay and even with a discount I ended up paying 35.00 for a bath. My dog does not get trimmed, he didnt need his nails done as they were done 2 weeks prior. My boy was shaking the whole car ride home and even acted out when we got home as he has never done before, by pushing my hamper over and dragging all of my clothes out of it and then going to lay by himself on the couch. He didnt want to be touched. I have never seen him so upset before. Any real pet lover knows their baby and how they are treated and want to be treated. I bought my 7 month old Puppy for grooming which includes ear cleaning and nail filing and my dog came back with a bloody ear. He kept picking at it and laying down until I finally checked his ear and found that it was bloody and bruised. These people are careless and obviously do not know what they're doing when it comes to grooming. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PET. read more

I have tried this place twice and have left annoyed both times. The staff are not friendly and not helpful. The hours for grooming are pitiful compared to PetSmart which is right on rt. 130. From now on I will drive the extra 5 minutes and go to PetSmart because I'm done with this place. read more
