The guy working there was extremely nice and helpful. He gave my sons dog some treats and played with him. He talked to us about the different programs and services they offer. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Really good store with lots of items for pets. We were able to get a new dog tag made for like 12.00. You cannot beat that. Took less than five minutes. They have tons of toys, snacks, etc for dogs. They also offer the chipping service which we will do here pretty soon. They offer puppy social hour lol. Where your dog can interact with other pups. We will take adva of that as well. Really nice store with nice people working at this location. Well stocked and very clean. We will definitely be back. I bought Tiki Dog Petite Puppy mousse on 01/09/25. I fed it to my puppy and the next day he was sick. He had bad gas, wouldn't eat, and threw up. I looked at the pouch and was horrified to discover that this food expired in April of 2024. They sold me puppy food almost a year out of date and it made my dog sick. I assumed Petco only sold quality dog food not rancid out of date dog food. I will never make the mistake of trusting Petco this way again. My puppy is young and small and now sick because of ingesting food I purchased from Petco. I can't get him into a vet's office anywhere because it is a Friday and they are all booked up. If he continues to worsen, I will have to take him to an emergency vet and be slapped with an expensive bill because of a $1.50 dog food pouch sold by Petco and even then there is no guarantee for my dog's health. I am so diasappointed with this Petco and absolutely distraught over my puppy's sickness caused by the contaminated product they sold to me. read more

Doggie superstore! I come here to get num nums for our little devil. Petco is really good at providing nutritional and well manufactures products for animals. They have some of the coolest home made doggie treats ever. I'll get a picture next time. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. They're animal lovers who know their business and are willing to help guide you in the best decisions for you fur babies. I just wish it was closer to home, but that doesn't stop me from coming here and knowing I'm getting top quality items at a good price. Paws down an amazing store and staff. This store is Always, always always out of everything!!!! Especially our favorite dog treats!!! It is real obvious that they do not adjust inventory for the things they sell the most so they can have more on hand to increase their sales!!! Which tells me there's a lack of management training. Plus, it is horrible to pull up and 80% of the time there are 1-3 employees standing out front smoking cigarettes!!! Then guess what, the customers get to inhale that crap! This store lacks inventory, training, cleanliness and professionalism! To add:::: this was not from one visit. This is the closest pet store to my house, so I ventured there today for a quick trip to pick up a few things for my son, since he'll be adopting a dog from a local rescue group shortly. I so wish I had gone to PetSmart instead. Meh. My own fault. Leashes: Good luck, unless you'll be buying a leash for a horse. They have lots of those. Or the kinds with all of the glitter and embellishments on them that cost an arm and a leg. The price choked me more than any leash or collar would. Bowls: needed a bowl for a dog with long ears -- you know, the tapered bowl that prevents their ears from getting in the water or food. Forget about it. Bamboo bowls to feed the smallest breeds and ceramic and stainless bowls to feed a cow -- they have those. Anything in the middle: pay through the nose or go someplace else. Crate: Every dog needs a crate, whether you close the door on it or not. It's their safe haven. All of the crates here are priced twice as much as I've seen at PetSmart (both in their store and online), and all of the ones showcased in this store had the screws rather than large hook-type latches. Hassle. Petco only carried ONE collapsible folding wire crate, labeled for puppies up to 26 pounds (which would have worked for us), but it was in a baby blue or baby pink and it was $79.99. This selection is pitiful. Absolutely pitiful. Dog treats: Looked for rawhide treats for the dogs currently living in my home now. All were made in China. Shame on Petco. You should know about the health issues that have occurred because of Chinese-produced and manufactured pet treats. Shame on you again. The store was empty, spare for one customer picking up a dog that was being groomed. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because of ample parking and quick check out (I did finally settle on one leash that I figured would be good enough until we could find a better one). Recently went in to pick up supplies for two hamsters we inherited. I will never ever go back. None of the on floor sales associate as if I needed help or had questions. All hurried about pretending to be busy. The cage for the ferrets was in serious need of being cleaned and reeked. The store itself was in disarray and dirty. Had to make two trips there and the only nice thing I can say was atleast on the second trip the young lady that checked me out was semi nice and polite. Shame really since I had been to the one on Stuebner first where they were extremely friendly and helpful... something this store could serious learn from. read more

If you have a pit bull do not bring them here. I brought in my sweet baby to get her rabies shot today and the staff didn't even give her a proper exam because they were so terrified of her because of her breed. Yes my dog isn't the nicest towards other dogs but she is amazing with people. There was a golden retriever trying to attack another dog right before I brought my dog in and they did not treat the golden retriever the way they treated my baby. They even put some not so nice things on her notes which I doubt they did with the golden retriever. If your terrified of certain breeds, maybe don't work with animals. read more

Took my dog here for the first time to get groomed. The check in process was quick and easy. The groomer was very present and bonded with my dog quickly. She listened to what I wanted done and when I came back to pick my dog up everything was done perfectly. They even gave me a coupon for being a first time customer. Overall this was a great experience with great service. Ill definitely be coming back and would recommend anyone who is needing to get their pet cleaned up to check them out. read more

I brought my dog to get his nails trimmed and they were very helpful in getting it done and told me not to pay yet if she couldn't cut his nails *My dog is ferocious and doesn't like anyone touching his paws. Just don't come here. As soon as I walked in at the door I wasn't even greeted by the staff or anyone. The store was empty. Anyways I walk to the small animal section and they barely have anything on the shelves. They didn't even have the best brands of foods for chinchillas. This petco smells ridiculously bad! Yes, I understand that it's a pet store but it smelled horrible. The store is so small! Big ups to Petco for dimming their lights to save energy! No really, there's a sign that tells their customers why it's so dark. I prefer going to PetSmart rather than Petco because Petsmart's prices are extremely cheaper! For instance, a 6 pack of Busy Bones for dogs cost $17.99. PetSmart and even Target sells it for $8.99. Everything in here is marked up by 40% or higher. I compared the dog food, treats, and toys to those at PetSmart, and it's ridiculous how much more expensive it is. Every time I come here, the service is always great. They are extremely helpful and will make sure that you have everything you need. Even though it's expensive, service is top notched. They do have surveys at the bottom of your receipt, but it's usually $3 off $5. PetSmart has $3 off anything surveys. They accept competitor's coupons and even expired coupons as well. That's the one thing I like about Petco. read more

We made a quick trip to PetCo for supplement that has been around for at least 40 years called Linatone. We asked two employees where it was kept on the shelves and neither knew what it was. Hello? How do you not know a product that's been around for 40 years?? This appears to be an older store. It was smaller than any I've ever been to. I don't normally go to PetCo. I prefer Petsmart. However, I needed the Linatone and I needed it fast. Next time I'll hold out for Petsmart where the staff is better trained. read more

This location is very convenient so we always stop by to check out the fish they have, which isn't as big. They don't provide saltwater fish like other petcos. They also only have a small selection of reptiles. HOWEVER, the workers are very nice. Aquatic workers keep their fishes in nice shape as well. I will never use this Petco again for grooming. The one at 1960 and Veterans Memorial. I only wanted my dogs nails clipped. Marlene grabbed my dog and put her on the table and put the noose very tightly on her neck. She then took a personal call on her cell phone the whole time she was clipping my dog's nails. Marlene was very rough pulling on my dog's legs and cut at least one of the nails in the quick. My dog cried out and tried to get away from Marlene. Marlene ignored my dog and kept talking on the phone about how behind she was. Marlene never spoke to my dog or me. She put some medicine on the nails she cut in the quick. I asked her to get off her phone and pay attention to my dog. Marlene was extremely rude and never got off her cell phone. She took my dog off the table and shoved my dog at me and said pay up front and was still on her personal call. Marlene should not be working with animals. She has no "bedside" manner at all. I am extremely upset and will never use this Petco's grooming department again. read more

Terrible service, horrible attitudes, the workers are lazy and the last time I went inside some of their aquatic animals had been paralyzed with a disease! It was disgusting to see dead turtles and dead fish in the tanks, if they had been taking PROPER care of the animals--none of them would be dead right now. I really hate this petco, two men that I've asked for help has such poor mannerism, you wonder how they even got the jobs in the first place. Busy or not, treat your customers FAIR so you can get business in which YOU failed at. Petco needs to be shut down in this area. I swear the health department needs to check this place out, the workers here are not friendly, I asked one guy here something and he asked me "what?" Like I'm not even supposed to bother him to help look for something. That's his JOB! I'm supposed to ask for assistance! What kind of business does Houston want to run? Obviously crack joints because Houston acts so high and mighty and act like they are above you when you are not from their crappy city! Well guess what? Me and my city we have something bigger that you DON'T have! The workers are very lazy, the animal cages are never cleaned out the guinea pigs are a mess, the fish are always struck with some disease it's pathetic. Anyways we asked if they had openings, he said have you tried the church, and I'm like are you serious you don't recommend anything like that to people; that's limiting people, it's rude, it's snobby and uppity. Who does he think he is and who is he to judge me and my friend? He's a no body going no where and these workers needs an attitude adjustment before they wind up behind bars like half of them already are because they refuse to listen to authority!
