My daughter was looking for the Honest Kitchen dog that is made by Petco. All the locations in my area were out and they have been for a while. Being a sweet mom I told my daughter I would drive 20 miles to go pick up 2 bags of dog food for her and her doggie. I arrived to do the curbside pick up and they loaded it right up into my car and away I went. I was happy with the whole pick up process and customer service before driving there to make sure they had the dog food before I drove there. I would do the curbside pickup here again. read more

While on vacation, my pup needed a bath and groom. I decided to go with Petco since one was near where I was staying. I was not disappointed. The day I scheduled for my pup to be groomed, it rained all day. When I arrived to Petco, there was only one groomer staffed. I was a bit concerned at first because I thought she would be overwhelmed with too many pets to bath and groom. She let me know that she had a lot of cancellations because of the weather. That eased my mind some. I didn't want her to rush through and give my puppy a bad haircut. It had been a while since he was cut (he'd only had a puppy cut) so I needed her to be extra careful in cutting his hair down low, like I wanted. Also, he was so nervous and anxious, he whined the entire time I was checking him in. This added to my level of anxiety as well. Well, when I picked up my puppy, I was amazed at how well he looked. He no longer looked scruffy. His cut was amazing!! I was so happy with his look. Nikia did exactly what I asked. I made sure to give her a good tip that day. I don't live in Houston but if I'm ever here on an extended vacation again in the future, and my dog needs to be groomed, I'll be sure to request Nikia at Petco. She did an excellent job! And my puppy was happy when he saw me. He even pranced around. I think he knew he looked good - even on a rainy day! read more

So I'm in this predicament because I promised my brother he could get a dog if he cleaned his room & now I gotta follow through. Andrew was very helpful in assisting us during checkout. He informed us of deals & coupons Petco offers for first time pet owners. We got a free 5lb bag of food for spending over $20! (We spent over $200, so I'm glad food expenses were covered). Andrew also went through information regarding vaccinations & training classes. We also got a 6 panel pet yard indoor playpen for just $27!!! Originally, it was around $116. I'm guessing because the box was kinda torn up. It must've been used and therefore price reduced. Or it was on clearance/sale. I would've gone on Amazon to buy the items, but my brother wanted the stuff ASAP as the dog was coming tomorrow morning. read more

This is one of the petco's I've always went to and it never has seemed to get better. I'm always buying things from the aquatic section for my pet turtles and there are never any employees bacc there. I walk around the store for maybe 15 min or so before i find some help. Today i was helped by Brayden. I asked him to help me get some fish and when he asked how many i needed i said about 4-5 of each of these and i showed him a picture of a few different fish. He then started huffing and puffing the whole time. Not sure if he didn't want to help me with the fish or was having a bad day. However I'm a reliable customer and didn't feel like he needed to huff and puff when i asked for different fish. That was rude. read more

Came to this place to have my husky groomed. Immediately after seeing my dog, I was told she has matted fur (which was unbelievable because I brush my dog every other day and never had this issue in any other Petco store) and they basically refused to provide service if I don't purchase additional package for de-matting. I purchased this package anyway just to find out: 1. only additional 5 minutes brushing time was applied 2. the fur remains the same as when I brought my dog in 3. the fur was not completely dried, causing some spots to become matted (which was a pain for me to remove them myself) 4. they applied a heavy amount of perfume on my dog because she happened to have a little accident in her crate. My dog was totally miserable due to the heavy scent and I ended up having to give her a bath myself a couple days later... $60+ for all of that troubles, not worth it. I wish I could give 0 star for Jamie, she is the worst Petco staff every! Do not let JAMIE work on your dog. She will try to rip you off with all of the extra fees that she can add on. She will refuse the service you want if you are not agreeing to the options being discussed. I brought my husky for bathing at Petco for about 10 times at this location and several other locations, and never once got refused the service or offered the extra de-matt fee from other grooming staffs. All other grooming staffs were sweet and professional. Every time I see Jamie, she pressured me about de-matting service and the extra brushing fee that I must do and would cost up at least $200 estimate, she's unable to tell the exact fee. Several years ago my husband agreed to her fancy plan of de-matting and extra brushing. After 10 minutes, she called him saying she couldn't de-mat my dog and still charge him the de-mat service and extra brushing fee since she attempted/tried to do it. With the fee being charged, my dog came back still looking the same but with damp fur. Our grooming experience after that with different grooming staffs or different locations were great, my dog was cleaned, got brushed out really well with no matted fur, completely dry and no extra fee. When I tell Jamie about the others, she told me they were all wrong and she is the only one doing it correctly, ridiculous enough! I also talked to the manager about it, she touched my dog trying to find the matted fur, didn't point out the matted fur, but still trying to back up Jamie saying she only trying to offer the extra service fee. As a conclusion, Jamie sucks, she tried to charge you extra but still couldn't do what the others do. In addition, if your dog pooped or peed in the cage after bathing and got stuff on the fur, she will not wash the area again, but will try to hide the smell by spraying a ton of perfume on your dog. Don't be fooled by how good your dog smells. Jamie is the main groomer there and most likely you will see her. There are many better grooming place just 10-20 minutes away. Go somewhere else guys! read more

People here are great and the grooming service was great but I recently had to switch my pup to PetSmart. Reason being I left my pup to get groomed which she had done before with a different groomer and she loves baths and I never had issues until recently with the new groomer (Summer) came to pick up my pup and she was literally pooping herself. And when I came back to reschedule she made me wait instead of her telling me she couldn't do my pup horrible experience with Summer not going to Petco anytime soon. read more

I just got my 15 year old Yorkie groomed at Petco. There was one groomer who called me to tell me he was done and then left for the day. When I picked him up I was horrified. He has stripes all over his back and legs from uneven hair and a bald strip on the back of his front left leg. I asked for a teddy bear face and got I don't know what but it's too short to be any Yorkie face cut. The ears are uneven. I got him groomed for a road trip we are taking in a few days to see family and now I'm trying to figure out how to make him look decent. I got my other Yorkie groomed at Petsmart a couple days ago and he looks perfect! I guess I know where to go from now on. read more

I have never preferred this store to other chain pet retailers, as I normally find their selection less expansive and their prices much higher. The customer service at this location supercedes any of those concerns. While the store is very small, even for this chain's standards, the aisles are very clean, and the merchandise is well organized. Every staff member I have spoken with is not just nice, but completely thrilled to assist. Simple, honest explanations about products have helped me choose items that sometimes are the cheaper option, but sometimes not. The staff here will absolutely tell you why which is worth the money. Somewhat new and bigger store than the rest of the other pet stores around the area. The workers are very nice, friendly and few are knowledgeable about the fish they carry in store. Both visits were in the afternoon, barely anyone in the store.. First time I came to purchase some freshwater fish, I was overcharged. Next visit after that, I wasn't given back the right amount of money. I wish I could give zero star either. I was unable to leave negative reviews to reflect the truth for the 5 star product which had poisoned my poor poodle. My baby only take 1/2 tablet in the morning and died in the evening on 7/9/2020. Petco only kept positive reviews & hide negative ones and that's the reason all their products are all with 4-5 stars. Fake reviews may mislead people and eventually kill your loved pets. Don't trust Petco !!! read more

We just left from picking up our do who had a grooming appointment at 1:00pm. Why did it take so long? There was only one groomer because the other one got hurt from picking up a dog and had to leave. We didn't find that out until we went to pick her up at the 3 hour time frame they gave us to pick her up. 1st- why would you need 3 hours to groom her if you take appointments? Do you not determine how long each do will gal and schedule appointments accordingly? 2nd- when you realize you were the only one there why didn't you call all of the appointments that would now be longer to let the owners know and to give them the option to reschedule. My husband very nicely left our dog and decided to come back in 45min when she said our dog would be finished. When I saw my dog her face was not blended or even, her tail clearly had longer hair in some spots and was cut in others and you can see that she had patches on her body that were longer then others. To top it off he tells me they charged him more because her hair was straight and would require scissors instead of clippers. So not only do you screw up her hair cut but you also charged more for it. Oh but there's more. She then tells my husband our dog bit her when she was cutting her nails so she can no longer come there to get her nails cut. I have a hard time believing that the groomer wasn't rushing with the dogs nails (just like she did with her hair cut) and clipped too far and that's why she got bit. She doesn't have to worry about us coming to get her nails cut there because we won't be coming back at all for any reason!!! read more

Great selection of products for guinea pigs. Much better than Petsmart. There is a variety of hay, including Oxbow brand. The huge bag of aspen bedding is actually cheaper than anything on Amazon. This is what I mostly buy here. The only problem is that there never seems to be any clerks at the payment counter or near the front of the store, and I always need to hunt around the store for someone to take my money. read more

Today, I had visited this petco twice. The first time was around 1pm and then afterwards around 4:30. Sadly, none of the employees had asked if I needed any assistance when I was frantically going back and forth looking for certain things for my pet. The customers in the store were a lot more helpful than they were. They had helped me with all of my questions and gave me the best advice. The two ladies working the cash register shift around 4:30pm were the LEAST helpful considering they had seen that I was struggling but only cared to speak amongst themselves and work ethic seemed lazy. I'm not writing this review to complain but to let others know of my experience here. If you're looking for "quality" service, this is NOT the Petco to go to. The groomers really should be micromanaged!! They are either inexperienced or just plain lazy. I took my little 4lb Chihuahua to this location on different occasions...each time I picked her up her hair was cut in patches, her nails were barely cut and they were cut in an angle to where they were "sharp claws." I later learned they never honored my request to express her anal glands which was included in the "package" I paid for. When I asked why, I was told the groomer couldn't do it. I asked why I was never initially informed they could not give me an answer. I only returned after the 1st time to give them another chance, thinking perhaps it was that particular groomer...I was wrong. I will never return. "Lesson learned!" read more

I just picked up my two schnauzers from the Petco groomer and they look amazing!! Marquita did such an amazing job and Anna was so nice and friendly. Marquita listened to everything we said and the girls look great. My partner and I just moved here to Houston and were so worried about finding a good groomer. Well we have ended our search. I bought a water pump for my fish tank and went home to find out the attachment piece was broken off. I returned a few days later to try to return it with my receipt. I was told by the cashier they don't accept returns on pumps, so I asked him to show me in their policy where it says this. He pointed to a laminated copy of this part of their policy that is right by the register. So I read it and it says if you "DO NOT have a receipt" they will not accept returns on pumps, etc. He could not comprehend when I explained his policy to him so he had another coworker come over, who then agreed with the cashier saying they won't accept it. I became frustrated because they can not even understand their own policies so they had a supervisor come over, who was just as dumb as the two of them. Not one person in their store could understand what their policy actually says. The workers at Sugarland Petco are morons. I will not be taking any business there again. Today was my first time coming to Petco to get my baby husky a bath, I always go to Petsmart the one on Eldridge but since this petco near my house so why not give this a try, staffs in groomer room are pretty nice. But the cashier is hella rude. Nobody literally at the cashier for me to check out, I waited a few minutes and nobody has come and decided to look for one. I saw one staff were watering the plants or something and ask nicely " Hey, can I bother you a sec, if there is anyone at the cashier to check me out" she got up and literally giving me an attitude look and walked up to the cashier without saying anything like I came up and bothering her or something. Anyways, so i dropped my baby off at 12-1ish and got a call to pick her up around 5pm. My baby looked clean and smell good. But when I took her into the car there are lots of fur flying out everywhere. I understand and I know husky shredding alot but like they just bathing without brushing my dog or something? My last two purchases have been Milkbones (large box that had been taped shut) and a 36 lb bag of ProPlan dog food. Both have been infested with weevils. Bugs were flyin around in my pantry. I keep the dog food in an airtight bind. I threw away the last bag of food and went back today to get a new bag and when we lifted it into the cart bugs started flying. We now have to drive further away to a petsmart to buy food when the Petco is right across the street from our subdivision. Please take care of your infestation. read more
