Dr. Waqar Hassan and his staff are wonderful. They're some of the most caring people I've ever met. Their concern for the health and comfort of pets is unmatched. Dr. Hassan recently amputated a dew claw on my dog and it went well, with excellent follow up examinations. I am so glad that I chose Beechcrest. This is an honest office; they don't try to upsell you on anything you don't want and they patiently explain things to you. read more

Compared to Beechnut Animal Hospital, I think Beechcrest Animal Clinic was far better. There are plenty of parking and much cleaner over here. However, there were some issues on my first visit. What do you say when you first met a potential mate and already found some flaws. I don't consider myself picky. But doctor prescribed 10 days of antibiotics, I only got 8. I searched all over, it didn't make sense to break 8 packs for 10 days. So I went back. Ah, it was missed. Then, my cat was prescribed dewormer medications... for canine. Uh... I swear I have a feline. Strangest thing is he was not diagnosed by any tests. It was the most expensive drugs on that bill. They insisted it was safe for cat, even though it was unregulated. The interior is really clean and smells good for human. Unlike Beechnut Animal Hospital, the mask won't protect me from smelling animals. Yeah, they got kennel service in the back. This Beechcrest Animal Clinic is just a doctor's office. Office visit charge is much lower than Beechnut Animal Hospital, it's $25 vs $85. I tried not to be negative, but it was like a zoo busy over there at the animal hospital. My visit with Dr. Hassan was so-so. I just can't understand why he kept repeating something over and over. My 15 year old cat started peeing outside her litter box and I called 4 vets who couldn't see her until a week later. Beechcrest Animal Clinic was the only one who could see me the next day. They brought us to a room right away. Did a thorough check, blood tests and gave her an antibiotic for UTI. Turns out my poor kitty has renal failure but Dr Hassad called me after the lab results and took his time explaining the next steps They were nice enough to have me come in to teach me how to do IV fluids underneath her skin, which I was really grateful for. Prices are reasonable and they don't try to upsell you. Overall, happy with the service and found my go to vet, finally. read more

I've been taking my pets to this clinic for almost 15yrs. My 1st dog used to see Dr Maxson and we all loved and appreciated him so much. When my old boy developed a myelopathy and lost the use of his legs we opted to take him to a clinic closer to home when it was time to do the right thing and euthanize. I had never had a pet put down before and taking him elsewhere was a huge mistake. Losing him was so traumatic to our family, but the way it was handled only made it worse. I won't name that clinic because I'm here to give praise to Beechcrest. We took the plunge into doggie parenthood again a few months after losing our beloved boy. We began bringing our 2 dogs and 1 cat to Dr Maxson, but shortly after Dr Hassan took over. Change is not easy, so of course, I was a bit unsure at first. However, after each visit I've felt that Dr Hassan knows his stuff and the staff is always outstanding. He has helped all 3 of our pets over the years and I we continue to trust him with annual visits. Unfortunately, we recently had to make the tough decision to euthanize one of our now, elderly dogs. The stark contrast of this staff's compassion vs our first experience is almost indescribable. Dr Hassan gave us every possible alternative, but given her age and condition it would have been cruel to put her through the alternatives. Thankfully these types of decisions are few and far between, but I have to thank Dr Hassan and staff member, Jesus for making our tough transition as painless as it could have been. It was heart-wrenching, but handled with so much care. I hope no one has to see this side of pet care, but if you are looking for good, compassionate care this clinic is the place to go. read more

Dr. Maxson had been our family vet for years, after his retirement, Dr. Hassan has taken over and is doing a great job! His support staff are always friendly and put our nervous pets at ease. Dr. Hassan's therapeutic treatments and advice are always helpful and he has a straightforward but kind demeanor. We have taken both our 90lb dog here and our cat and have always received great service. The area is a little sketchy, but compared to some of the crazy prices that some vets charge, Dr. Hassan keeps his prices reasonable, so we make the drive from Sugar Land. read more

If Beechcrest Animal Clinic had more stars to give I would deft give them more ... Doctor Hassan saved our puppy from parvo !!! It really was a miracle . she had a very strong strand of Parvo and with the staff including the doctor , helping us out with our puppy's medication and care she was able to recover well . I can truly say Doctor Hassan and his staff really care about the pets here . They took time to see our pup twice a day for almost a week to give her everything she needed to recuperate!! IV, diet food , fluids , pills, probiotics was all giving to her . We really thought we were going to lose her but I'm very thankful and happy for Beechcrest Animal Clinic !!! I HIGHLY recommend them ! We also have another dog that they have seen since since he was puppy (he's now 4 years old) and haven't had any issues with him. read more

I want to thank Yelp and the reviewers for such a great find! The employees of the office are extremely nice especially Dr. Maxson. I called earlier this morning to schedule a visit for one of my dogs who was having issues with his tail. They scheduled me same day (which was great!) Dr. Maxson asked me a few questions, examed him, gave me all the information I needed and asked permission before he went with the shots, etc. And we didn't stay long. The visit itself probably took around 20-35 minutes. Definitely a great vet office with affordable prices. I'm always weary of going into vet offices because of the prices and the veterinarian, but I left without feeling like I've been ripped off. Love, love this office! read more

After reading so many reviews, I was so happy to have chosen this place for all my dogs' care. I scheduled on a Saturday and had a little hard time finding the place because the lady told me that the hurricane blew off the sign above the business so we had to call to find the exact spot of where it was (although it was at the tip of our nose). Call me blind! If you know where Que Huong Restaurant is, it's in the same shopping strip. I wish I knew about this wonderful office long ago!! So sorry it took 8 long years to discover this gem. but I'm so glad I did! Our first time here, I found all the ladies who worked here very friendly and courteous. Dr. Maxson was extremely busy seeing that he had some dogs/cats that had serious issues that day, so since we were there only for annual shots of DDP and Heartworm check up, we understood when he wasn't able to tend to us right away. HIs assistants were able to take care of our needs, and the Doc came out to greet us so that we wouldn't feel like we were being ignored. I love this place!! The hospitality is great, the staff is so wonderful and my dog didn't have any issues being at this place. The best part of this vet office is that they don't require you to pay for unnecessarily things you don't need like Bordatella if your pet doesn't go boarding or grooming, etc. (unlike other vet offices). I just like how honest they were and how much money I saved by going here! We tried out the Revolution tick/flea and heartworm prevention and loved its application because it's not messy and so much liquid like the Advantage II that my dogs were taking for so long and recommended by previous vet- on top of it costing less for this. We got 2 free tubes when purchasing 6 tubes-awesome deal. They sell this in the office. I almost want to keep Dr. Maxson a secret because I don't want to make it hard on us in the future to get in to see him whenever we need to..but KUDOS to Dr., Maxson and his staff for making the vet office such an enjoyable experience!! Never can I say that before. It's always been a dread. p.s. You can tell he loves his job..when you go to a Vet office, just like any other Dr's office, there should be pictures of your beloved patients surrounding the place..there was no shortage here. I've used Dr. Maxson for my cats for 20 years. I've moved over 30 miles away from his office, but wouldn't consider using anyone else. He and his employees are always very caring and knowledgeable. I've been to vets that were very good technically, but lacked the personal care feel. Beechnut Animal Clinic has the total package of knowledge combined with a caring personal feel. I LOVE Dr. Maxson and could not say enough GREAT things about him! He is such a caring, loving, and knowledgeable vet. On top of that his prices are pretty reasonable for a vet. Dr. Maxson will NOT charge a doc's fee if he is not physically examining your pet unlike other places as soon as the doc walks in its 50 bucks even if its just to answer a question! Therefore I was really upset when I had to move to San Antonio but little did I know Dr. Maxson continued to help my furry babies. Whenever I had a problem with my pets all I had to do was call the office and they would get Dr. Maxson to call me back himself. Then over the phone he would tell me what he would recommend for my babies. Over the years I have recommended Dr. Maxson to many of my friends and family and they have all been very pleased. I am not one to write reviews but something like this is worth all the praise! If I could give 10 stars I would. I have been coming here for quite sometime we have a 4 year old Rottweiler mix and when My family and I decided to get a new puppy who was registered for her first set of shots at another Vet. I planned for our new pup to finish off her set of parvo shots at that Vet before bringing her over here to Beechcrest, well throughout that time frame our puppy contacted the parvo virus after she had her 3 parvo shots. THIS VET SAVED MY DOGS LIFE PERIOD. Although they were not responsible for providing the vaccine to our puppy they took full responsibility in doing everything they can to save our pup. Everyday for a week we would visit them to receive fluids and medication twice a day one time in the morning and at night before they close this was routine for a week. Every single staff member Jan, Elise, Vivian and of course Doctor Hassan kept asking and praying for our puppy to pull through, each staff member took immense care and detail on providing the best service possible to our puppy. My family and I are forever grateful to this place they have become our family we wish them nothing but the best and will forever recommend and continue to provide our family with service. read more

I used to bring my dogs here when it was still Dr. Maxon's. Though I was sad to see him go, I still decided it was only fair to give his successor, Dr. Hassan, a chance. He didn't have the same genuine nature and didn't take the time with my dogs as I hoped he would. One of my dogs had an ear infection and after many visits and spending a lot of money on medication, poor Thor was still scratching (sometimes until he bled!) It wasn't until I got a second opinion (after already spending a lot of money already) that I realized it was a whole different issue and took another type of medication to clear it. I have completely switched over from beechcrest, but the positive memories of Dr. Maxon will always remain. read more

So I've recently taken my dog for a little check up after a bad groomer incident and am not too pleased or excited about Dr. Maxson's successor. There is no doubt that Dr. Hasan is very knowledgeable. However, he does not have the same manner as Dr. Maxson did. I also feel that he charges for unnecessary things. I feel that because Dr. Hasan bought Dr. Maxson's entire practice, along with the existing clientele, Dr. Hasan should uphold the standards that Dr. Maxson has established because that is what we have come to expect. After a quick assessment, my dog was prescribed an antibiotic, along with an anti-itch medication and a medicated shampoo. The reason why I get a bad impression is that with Dr. Maxson, I got used to being prescribed the minimum requirement to help my dog feel better. If this had been Dr. Maxson would have only given me the antibiotic and been told to go get an oatmeal-based shampoo. I always appreciated the steps that Dr. Maxson took to save me money and my dog from unnecessary medication/trauma/treatment. I actually ended up taking my dog off of the anti-itch medication because it was making him lethargic and thirsty all the time. A couple of weeks after that, I got a postcard in the mail saying that my dog is due for his yearly shots. I appreciate that they've kept this practice, however it was also indicated that he will also need a wellness exam... I was just in a few weeks ago, I really don't feel that I need to pay another $50 to have my dog looked at again. All in all, I am on the look out for a new vet. If Dr. Hasan were as giving, kind, and warm as Dr. Maxson was, I would have been able over look the extra charges because of the excellent care to my fur baby. I feel that the same amount of knowledge can be found elsewhere, maybe from a vet that is half as wonderful as Dr. Mason was. read more

Just went to Beechcrest Animal Clinic for first time since Dr. Maxson retired. When I saw he had retired, I was deeply saddened (nearly teared up). Truly felt his loss (retirement) as that of a dear close friend. Was very leery about bringing one of my cats who had been involved in a cat fight the night before with another cat. I was somewhat relieved in seeing the two regular vet/office assistants still there. The new vet is Dr. Hassan. Told him what occurred and he suggested he sedate my cat and exam him. I found this strange considering this wasn't my first visit (trip to the rodeo) with a cat involved in a fight. I nixed this idea ASAP! I am probably on my twelfth cat or more to have taken to the Beechcrest Clinic and never Once before did Dr. Maxson recommend this procedure. Dr. Maxson always would do a hands-on exam including checking the cat's temp and checking for bite marks and the likes, then offer a course of action. Maybe I was a little out of place but I recommended he do what Dr. Maxson always did in this situation before which is to give the cat an antibiotics shot. Somewhere doing the course of the exchange Dr. Hassan retorted he is the one who has the degree. I found this to be very snippy (rude)! Dr. Hassan agreed to give the cat an antibiotics shot. Good thing the cost for the exam and antibiotics were the same as under Dr. Maxson. I also requested amoxy (dry formula) to take home for future use to save on vet costs whereas I have five cats that spend time indoors/outdoors. Dr. Hassan speaks English but I felt he was a lil short on comprehension. I would advise that you make sure he understands!!! Since I can walk/bike to the Vet, if there another need I will give the place a second chance. Dr. Maxson, if you decide retirement isn't all its cracked up to be and decide to work part-time, please contact some your old (customers/cat patients) for business. Before I moved far away from this part of town, I took my two dogs here. Dr. Maxson is a very kind and gentle vet with lots of experience. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Their prices are very reasonable. I've doen everything from routine exams to neutering/spaying, minor surgeries, and vaccinations with this clinic. The place is old but not dirty. On your way out, grab some food at Pho Nguyen or Parisian Bakery & Deli, and go home happy with a full belly and healthy pets. read more

I love the staff here especially the young man who is their vet tech. My smallest dog is very finicky about her feet and getting her nails trimmed which is why I usually have them ground down. He advised against this as it allows the quick to grow out and proceeded to expertly trim her nails right there free of charge at our annual check up and not a peep from her the whole time! I absolutely LOVE this veterinarian clinic. Dr. Hassan and his team are the best! They take care of my dog like he's their own pup. I've even moved an hour away and I still come here because I trust them so much. This summer my dog was very sick and I took him to a vet near my new home and they did not take it seriously. So I made the hour trip back to Beechcrest. They took it very seriously; ruled out every likely problem, then recommended me to a specialist for an ultrasound, which ultimately figured out his issue. I took the trek back to the clinic to take out my dog's drain tube from his surgery and they did not charge me. Amazing wonderful people that truly care about your pets. They are affordable and accommodating. I would recommend them to everyone! read more

Dr. Maxson is the BEST VET ever!!! I have taken every single pet I have ever owned to see him for the nearly 20 years. He is the most caring, gentle, and knowledgeble vet around. When Dr. Maxon left I decided to give Dr. Hassan a chance. Everything went fine at first. Then I took my 10 yr old schnauzer in for a teeth cleaning. When I went to pick her up I was handed a bill for $1135.00 and told he had pulled 17 of her teeth. I was not notified that she was that bad before he did this. He had just seen her 4 days previously and did not say a thing about her mouth being so bad and no one called me to let me know what was happening. I almost had a heart attack! I can't believe he kept her under that long at her age. I was told her teeth were all horribly infected. Why did he not notice that when he saw her for the blood work? She now has 3 teeth left. In all fairness he gave me a big discount when he realized how upset I was. But I have lost all faith in him and have found a new vet. Nita Pavlovich I live in Houston, not california. read more

Dr. Hassan and his wonderful staff at Beechcrest Animal Clinic have been caring for my MinPin (Dro) since Monday, September 19 - 21, 2016. Dro is diabetic and had developed Pancreatitis and was also dehydrated. Dro is much better today, September 23. We just left Dr. Hassan's office after he taught me how to use our newly acquired AlphaTRAK (Blood Glucose Monitoring System). They wanted me to be able to check on Dro's blood sugar levels when he refuses to eat and it's time for his insulin injection. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hassan, his Vet Tech's and his staff, for taking such great care of Dro and going above and beyond to teach me how to better look after my canine buddy. I took my cats to Dr. Maxson for years until I moved. I just thought of him tonight and decided to check if I could find anything on him. Doesn't look like he has a Facebook page, so I will leave a post here. Dr. Maxson is an awesome vet! Great "bedside" manner with the pets and very easy to talk to. My fondest memory was when he got through examining my ugly but very special cat....He held her up, looked at her, and said in that east Texan drawl...."You are one brain-dead kitty! You can just looooook in those eyes and tell that noooobody's home!" And Eclipse just looked back at him, totally relaxed. She was 9 or 10 at the time. She lived to be 17 and that was about 3 years ago when she passed. Dr. Maxson, in my opinion, is the best vet in that area of Houston. I highly recommend him. read more

We took my dog there for a second opinion since my dog had stopped eating and lost a significant amount of weight. Instead of prescribing numerous medications like the first vet, Dr. Hassan ordered labwork in an effort to diagnose my dog. Upon arrival, Dr. Hassan and his staff were really nice and professional. They took the time to explain why the labs were needed and what my dog might have. Sadly, the news was not good, but Dr. Hassan made an effort to treat my dog in an effort to get him better. He was very sincere and professional. He treated my dog and was truthful when my dog showed no signs of improvement. We made the decision to euthanize him. Dr. Hassan and his staff made sure we knew each step in the process and allowed us time in the room to grieve. They even sent us a sympathy card and it was personalized and signed by each member of his staff. Even though our encounter was brief and sad, I was very happy to have taken my Randy to Dr. Hassan. Before Dr. Hassan assumed the practice, it was owned and run by Dr. Nathan Maxson. While not close to me, I happily drive there for my appointments because I believe my two dogs receive excellent, affordable care. The entire staff is friendly and personable. they make you feel as if you and your animals are the only patients they have. When the practice was transitioning between the doctors, my boy dog ate something outside and became deathly ill. Dr. Hassan and the staff worked overtime to bring him around and get him on his feet. Their efforts were successful and it became the bonding moment for me and this practice. Beechcrest Animal Clinic has been my go to place for vet care of my many animals for about 15 years. I always appreciated the gentle and knowledgable care they receive. Most have passed now with the help of this wonderful staff. Although Dr Maxson has retired, I wanted to give the new vet, Dr Hassan, and the new staff a try. Although change can be hard they have been wonderful! Dr Hassan performed surgery on my golden retriever (13 1/2) and gave us another wonderful year together. Then when the time came (too soon for me) Dr Hassan and Jordan helped me release her gently and peacefully to the rainbow bridge. As expected, it was hard but they made it as easy as possible. Dr Hassan is continuing to take care of my current dog. Always with welcoming and gentle care. As I said before, change can be hard and we all know Dr Maxson would be hard for any vet to follow! Dr Maxon and his staff at Beechcrest are superb. We have been taking our multitude of animals to him for years. He has even helped us when they need put down.
