This Petco in Huntersville had a vet clinic inside their store. I made a phone reservation first and they followed up with a phone and text message a few hours later. Service was friendly and decent, and I was prepared to wait for a while tests and vaccinations were performed with each dog outside the exam room. The consultation was thorough, and the prices were reasonable. Parking can be challenging on certain days but since I had the early morning appointment, parking was relatively easy to find. You cannot see the store sign from the main throughway (highway 73) so you must drive in and look for the store sign once you drive down several side streets of the shopping plaza. Bad Hair Day for Watson. We've had Watson our 2 1/2 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi bathed and groomed here on several occasions, generally with satisfactory results. Watson is an atypical Pembroke called a fluffy which means he has a recessive gene which and he does not have the coarse outer coat which gives the corgis some water resistance His coat which is his inner coat gives him some protection from the rain. He still has (had) a magnificent white.whixh frames his face, characteristically saddle markings, and fluffy pants on his butt Petco was supposed to give him a bath, shed him which is to comb out with a Special Metal Comb. If I were not in so much shock I would be crying right now. Under no circumstances take your pet here to get groomed. I cannot believe what they did to my poor fur baby. He went in with a full coat of hair, true he had some mats because he is a golden doodle and that's what they do however they did not take the time to brush them out in any attempt to save any of his hair. He is shaved to his skin and he looks as though we found him on the side of the street as a stray dog this is totally unacceptable and if I could sue them I would. I would never take my dog here and I would never even buy any products from here because of the horrible service that they did to my dog. Went to see about getting a cleaner shrimp and most of the salt water tanks had a lot of brown algae. Looks like one of the sumps was low on water because one of the tanks was getting a lot of bubbles pumped in very noisily. One of the tanks had aptasia growing in it and when I pointed it out, the worker didn't seem to care or even know what it is...fyi, aptasia is very invasive and hard to get rid of and should never be allowed to grow in a tank full of animals and live rock that are going to go into a customers tank. Do not buy any live rock or snails or anything that could have hitchhikers on them! If you buy an animal, I highly suggest you do not out any of their rank water in yours and give the animal a proper quarantine first. read more

It seems like since PetCo closed in the beginning of Covid and then reopening, the grooming staff seems all new. My dog Pippa can be quite a nightmare with her nails (Lucky Dog with 2 groomers couldn't get them done) so I was a little nervous today since Pippa is so use to the same people. A younger guy who I believe it said Cody on his shirt, took Pippa back. He was so nice and when I told him she can be a little nervous, he walked around and pet her and messed with her paws to get a feel for how she would act. It took him 5 minutes and BAM she was done! I came in on Saturday Feb 15th to the Huntersville NC store. I had my two twin 4 year old nephews with me. They were very excited about picking out a fish or two. We were not greeted nor was anyone around in the fish department. The store was not very busy. We assisted ourselves locating the right dual beta tank, rocks, accessories and food as well as the fish. They both then wanted to pick out toys for our dogs and they did. At the counter, my little 4 year old nephew even said "Hello nice lady" to the older lady at the cash register. She said nothing and was scowling. She did not ask if I had found everything ok or needed anything else, simply rang it up, acting as if she was doing s a favor and sent us off on our way. I have shipped at this store for YEARS for all our pets and have never had such a horrible experience. I used to do retail and now do client facing healthcare. The store was not busy, there were NO LINES and the traffic in general was slow in the store. Had it not been for two little boys having their hearts set on new fish you would have certainly lost this sale, and have probably lost this customer overall anyway. read more

Over the past six months we've gotten two of the sweetest green cheek conures from this location and it's apparent they were socialized by the staff. They are healthy, affectionate and required very little training from us. We couldn't be more pleased with our girls Skittles and Cherry. The store itself is clean and nicely stocked. I took my 2 year old labradoodle for a grooming service and was very specific with the groomer about simply "shaping" the coat not "cutting". He pushed back and told me that he recommended a "naked cut" to which I adamantly declined and specified that I wanted to maintain the length and simply wanted to "SHAPE" the cut. I even paid extra so she could get her fur conditioned and brushed. He did the complete opposite of what I asked. He completely shaved her fur off. He even shaved her beautiful eyelashes off. One star is more than the vetco Located inside Petco deserves. (The associates that work there in the store are great) two weeks ago my cat began to get sick and normal vet had no appointments so I called vetco and they could get her in same day. My friend brought her because I was working and we're roommates so she lives with her and knows her. She called me crying telling me she was dying and if they tried to save her it was going to be very expensive and the other option she was given was to euthanize her. This is a one and a half year old cat who's been healthy and had no issues at all and we've been told that we with go through all these tests that are going to be expensive or we euthanize her - it was heartbreaking. We decided to pay $300 for the blood tests and other ones to get some answers and medicine as they said that she was severely anemic and no other real determination. They questioned feline cancer and other terms that were scary and all had a death sentence attached. They said she didn't have feline cancer and she was negative for other things including fleas. They sent her home after doing fluids and prescribing prednisone and some other meds on top of that and if she got worse to go to an emergency clinic and that they didn't think she would get better at this point. We made an appointment for a week later to do blood work and check her red blood cells for improvement. Clover immediately started To show signs of improvement she was up and eating and the diarrhea and vomiting stopped all together. Clover was playing again and seemed like she was doing great. Went to her next appointment and it was a different vet and she was short, cold and rude and talked over you. My friend put me on the phone to speak with her because the vet who'd never seen my cat previous only read a report decided she had feline leukemia and needed special testing and possibly a bone marrow test without even checking her or looking at her red blood cells again. I can't recall some of the things she said but one thing was " im trying to save your cat, if you don't want to that's fine". Continued to go in about how she was dying and how she had a cat and this happened some stressful thing brought on the cancer and she had to have the bone marrow test to find out for sure. I asked her to slow down because this was all confusing because the previous vet said she didn't have feline leukemia and she started telling me something about how the right test hadn't been done and you can't know without a marrow test. She then explained that whatever my cat had was contagious and my other cats were most likely going to get it and die and if we didn't do the tests she couldn't send my cat home to make others sick. It was so confusing and to be talked down to continuously and made to feel like you didn't care about your animal when all I wanted was clarification from how we went from one thing to another without an examination and she wanted to do all these very expensive tests to a young cat who had been tested not only there but at the clinic before I adopted her and she left the room to allow us to talk for a few moments. (I was on the phone). My friend called me back to tell me that my cat had fleas... which I know she doesn't but anyways the doctor used a napkin and wiped it on my car and then said you have fleas, you live with fleas they're all over your house and things you are infested. My cats do not have fleas, we do not have fleas. I love on the bottom floor and with the patio door open there was a time last summer that they had some and were treated and then fine. This doctor didn't care to hear that she was rude and accusatory. The first vet did a full inspection and there were no fleas- how she missed the flea dirt I don't know but it would have saved me $300 dollars and then the next bill was over $120 with more meds and the visit. I then signed up for a service to save money monthly since they said that it would save money with her condition when all and all she had been bitten by a flea and got an infection. I feel that Petco handled this completely wrong and had they just slowed down and did a thorough evaluation it could have saved time and money. Thankfully my cat is completely fine and recovered from that whole ordeal and being over prescribed medications she didn't need and all the tests she went through. I would never use that vet again nor see that second doctor. Get some manners and bedside manners. read more

One particular "groomer" is the problem... One lady is particularly nasty and seems to not want to trim our dog. First time she complained that they didn't have shots (although we had registered there before) and said she could not look it up in the system. The other groomer standing next to her interjected, told her to click "there", and said we were good to go. Today went for a grooming appointement and the same unhappy lady said our dog was "too matted". So we went to another place that said our dog was fine. I have tried this place 3 times and did not like last 2 visits. Do NOT go there for a grooming. read more

If you need to take your pet to a vet, look elsewhere. They'll tell you that your first vet visit is free, but then tack on hundreds more in other fees to the extent it feels like a scam, at minimum, false advertising. Do yourself a favor and skip Vetco. read more

In November we came back from a family trip. And our regular groomer amber that also works at Petco but at the Concord location, which I highly recommend, is very gentle, very kind and knows how to treat dogs. Well she was not available and our pup was definitely was in need of a shower. And a hair cut. At that moment in time we were close to the Petco in Huntersville Nc 10017 Biddick LN. and I thought, "what the heck, I get great customer service at Concord". I didn't even second think about going to the Petco at Huntersville. A "groomer" by the name Kelly took our dog in. And we let her know that our dog needed a shower and haircut. A couple hours later we got the phone call that our dog was ready, so we came by to pick him up. when we picked up our dog up she said that our dog was doing great that she loves huskies and that it was a nice experience with him. She was also petting him, and letting the dog lick her face and hands. As she was saying good bye. Once again, I thought to myself. Wow another great experience.... So I thought.. about three weeks later, we go to a hike, including my dog and he comes back very dirty as usual, so we go to our Petco application and for some reason we couldn't set up a reservation for my dog to take a shower. it had no explanation it just says call your nearest associate for more information on the application. I thought that was kind of weird so I waited a couple more days and then when I had time I called my Concord location and talk to Amber the groomer that usually does a wonderful job on my dog, she then told me that that groomer named Kelly at the Huntersville location had written down ver y bad notes, saying that she never wants to be booked with our dog ever again that he's very aggressive, and all these horrible notes that she wrote down. and I was in shock, and it also said that nobody should take this dog to get groomed because he's very hostile and dangerous. my dog is not that way. I have a two year old and I have a four year old that he's always around and he's very kind and gentle lays down next to my girls and he protects them very well. He's a very good boy, and he's not even a year old yes he is very playful and he has a lot of energy like any dog under one should have but never to the point where he's aggressive. He's very sweet and gentle dog so I was in shock when I heard that there's other groomer Kelly wrote in his notes, that he was very aggressive and mean, and all these other horrible things, and that nobody should groom him. But once again, Amber has always taking him since he was just a little furball, and she told me not to worry that she will take him in and groom him. We just picked him up and Amber once again did an amazing job. he's looking great like he always does and I'm very happy that she still took us in after all the horrible notes that that other groomer left, which I don't understand because when we went to go pick him up, she was letting my dog lick her in the face and hands and it was really nice goodbye I just don't understand why she would write such horrible notes after the fact, so I strongly advise everybody please watch out for this groomer Kelly, and be careful that she doesn't write bad notes and making you think that everything's OK. you might run into an issue when you try to set up your next groom session through your app. I wish you would've just told me that something was wrong the moment I went to go pick him up if that was the issue. I highly recommend not to go to the store the simple fact of the horrible experience that I had with all the false accusations she saying about my dog I just wanna thank Amber and her team from the Concord location. You guys always do a terrific job, I appreciate everything you guys do. you guys deserve much more. Thanks again Amber for being great and thanks for grooming my dog. This is the first negative review I've ever felt compelled to write, simply to warn that the vet in this location, Dr. Rice, is very passive-aggressive, rude and uncomfortable around intact pets. My pup, who is three years old and loves people (he loves the attention and wants to be friends with everyone) was called aggressive ten minutes into the visit, and because I wasn't allowed back with him I quickly came to the conclusion that it was due to how he was being handled by her. After talking to her, I realized that she was incredibly judgmental and rude, so I doubt that she has a tender or kind bedside manner. She tried to force me to send him home with two rounds of medicine and come back the next day until I gave consistent pushback, at which time she decided to offer me a different same-day option. This was after I clearly explained that I had a pup pass away from over-medication by a vet, which made me wary of two additional rounds of meds - when I say she did not care, I mean it. Upon pickup, I calmly explained that I wouldn't be returning and that I found her manner very unnecessary and passive-agressive; she didn't apologize or even seem to care - instead she responded by saying "Okay, I'll send the invoice your way." In the medical record follow up, she made sure to mention that my dog should be neutered, and mentioned that I told her I had no plans on returning... unnecessary additions in response to her displeasure of my honest feedback. Because of this unpleasant and unprofessional experience, I caution anyone who has an intact pet. As a long time owner of several healthy, long-living inside pets, I highly recommend considering another vet. Apart from the vet, the Petco staff were kind and helpful. Waited at the grooming check in counter for 5-10 minutes before being acknowledged by an associate (2 were present). The associate then proceeded to inform me that my appointment will have to be rescheduled because it's too late in the day for my pet to groomed 4:15. The appointment had been made and confirmed several days prior. If 4:15 is too late, why is it an option when scheduling appointments? Very disappointed in the customer service, or lack thereof. During this pandemic I have lost my usual groomer. I called today and spoke with Stacy. I had her on the phone for at least 10 minutes and she answered all my questions with the best attitude!! I wish I would have called sooner!! I have 2 dogs that have a little anxiety going to the groomers and she explained that coming during slow times really helps. They're constantly out of crickets and every time they say they'll be in they say that the shipment got lost. After a very poor decision by a very nasty & cranky associate this evening, they have lost my business forever. I've taking my cocker spaniel twice to the groomer here. Both times were awful experiences. I wanted to give them a second chance the first time, but it was just as bad as the first- if not worst. The first time I picked him up, I didn't even notice he was groomed. If it wasn't for the the fact that his fur was damp, I seriously would've thought he'd just been sitting there waiting to be picked up. The second time really did it for me. I dropped him off at around 12-1 and made sure he'd be ready before 5 since I had night school. They assured me he would be ready by 3- he wasn't. They assured me he would get a full groom package done- he didn't. Apparently the groomer left early and theperson there could only cut around his groin area& his nails. When i picked him up at FIVE, he was damped & his groin area was irritated and bleeding. AWFUL! read more

I wish I could give a negative number of stars. We took our Samoyed there to be groomed (our normal groomer was booked out a couple weeks). What. A. Nightmare. They bathed her and that's it. They said she was too stressed out to continue. If that's true, it's because THEY DID IT TO HER. She is the most layer back dog I've ever seen. When I picked her up she had been left in a cage with in it. She was soaking wet and had hair falling off of her everywhere. By the time I got home she was about half dry and that made it a challenge to get her brushed. She still has knots all over in her hair and is shedding like crazy. Samoyeds shed a lot. Wow. Terrible experience. We walked in as soon as they opened to exchange a small Kong we ordered online. I understand "retail" so I read their website to make sure I could return it in the store. Sure enough the return policy states all I had to was show the order number from my mobile device. Well I did that and the very old lady at the register didn't even acknowledge me, she just looked at her manager with raised eyebrows almost waiting for him to take over. He even said I couldn't return it! I wanted to actually exchange it for a higher priced one anyways. He finally let me after I explained PETCOs policy to him. Crazy!!! So my wife and I shopped for the items we needed for our first puppy, and brought them up to the register... Now because I'm a new PETCO member- I don't have the PETCO rewards card because I set it up online. So she said verbatim "I don't think we can look it up." I said, not even with my phone number???? Rest assured it worked and I saved $15. Yikes!!!! Pretty bad when a customer knows your business better than you do, especially a first time PETCO customer! It definitely shows & what a terrible experience I've had there. Stacy, a groomer, totally dismissed my appointment though it was 2+ hours before closing. She admitted she "dropped the ball!" However, she didn't offer to pick it up! She said "I'm outta here! I gotta go to to the ER!" They already close EARLIER than any other Petco grooming salon. The person who answered told me three times, yes 3 times, they had both items were available in the store. When I arrived 20 minutes later, only one item was in stock. I was not a happy camper. I am giving Petco 3 stars because they have a wide selection of animals and creepy crawlers (snake, scorpion - who would want these?) available in the store. Had our dog groomed today and they did a great job. My puppy looked awesome. They would have got 5 stars but the reason for the 3 stars is because they told me 70$ for full service. It ended up being 84$ total because of some "dematting". She gets shaved down so cut the knots out. I was charged for 2 of these dematting fees 7$ each. Why two? It's one dog. Made no sense to me. I asked about the charges and they just blew it off. I know it's only 14$ extra dollars but they should have warned me that there may be an extra charge, but nope. This grooming salon is the best in the area!! They did a thorough assesment of my dog and recommended things to make my baby look and feel amazing. When I went to pick my fur baby up they reviewed all they did and even had after care products ready for me based on the care he needed at home. Just amazing! I had a coupon as I'm a Pals member and that saved me 30%. Everyone made a fuss of how good my boy was and they even took the time to book my next appointment for me so that I don't have to worry about remembering when I need to do that,as they said they would call me to remind me..Now that is a great experience!! read more

I usually take my pup here to get his nails trimmed. I've went to the one in Kannapolis also but I came back to this one cause it's closer. Anyways, I told the older guy that I needed his nails trimmed and buffed and to get them as short and rounded as possible. He had him for not even 5 minutes and he was "ready". Got in the car and realized he literally just buffed his nail oh so slightly. I have to come every 2 weeks to get his nails done because they wont do what I ask. Our dog, gizmo, was groomed at the petco in Huntersville off exit 25. They cut his whiskers completely off and damaged his underbelly quite severely. Gizmo is very lethargic and has been in obvious pain for 4-5 days. I would not recommend this place. read more
