Have taken my dogs to Pet Paws for several years. Today we took our Shih Tsu for his routine grooming and got him back worse than when we took him. When I called to request either a refund or credit for next time (which now there won't be a next time) I was told I could bring him back and she would "fix it". Believe me, the mess he is cannot be "fixed". He doesn't look like he was even bathed, his ears are uneven, the hair on his head is chopped up (as well as other areas on his body) and worse of all his tail had been nicked and is bleeding! My poor baby. I even asked if he had been difficult and was assured he wasn't a problem. As I tried to reason with the groomer and later learned is also the manager, she started screaming at me saying we had had money problems and in the past (which I later learned from her that her point was that my husband had complained about the prices). After a couple minutes of trying to get a word in, and her continuing to scream at me, since I couldn't get a word in, I hung up. Whatever happened to professionalism and customer service? read more

The manager cut our dog while grooming her, didn't bandage it and was going to send her home that way. I noticed after we left and she was squatting to pee. Cut deep down in the loose skin by back leg you can see the meat of the leg 1/2 in long area of skin missing almost the size of a dime. Then didn't act remorseful just said, "we have insurance if you want to take her to the vet". I was so mad. I wanted to punch this woman in the face! She hasn't stopped shaking since I picked her up. I mean she didn't even bandage it I had to take her back in and request it! She put antibiotic ointment and a band aid on it. And the hair cut is the WORST she has ever had. It's as bad as when we groomed her ourselves during Covid. Never again! read more

5 STARS! We cannot recommend enough! Our old boy has visited several times over the past 3 years, always coming home looking beautiful. Yesterday, he had a medical emergency while at the salon. Staff immediately called us and dealt with the situation with empathy and love throughout. Upon returning to thank staff and let Sabrina see that our boy was doing ok, the caring approach continued. We took our do to get groomed 7/6/2024, maybe like 30 minutes into his appointment my mom gets a call and they're telling her she has to come pick up our dog because he has been injured. They told us it wasn't bad and it was just a little snip. When we picked him up we noticed there was more blood than how it was described. We took him home in hopes that it would stop because we couldn't tell how bad it was. After a while of doing everything the vets were telling us he had not stopped bleeding so we had to take him to the emergency vet where we're paid $700 for him to get stitches and were told to schedule and appointment with his vet. We did which is where they got him all cleaned up and showed us the picture on the right. This was no small cut and when we tried to communicate with Pet pause they were extremely rude and even hung up on me. I have continued to try to communicate with them and they kept telling me I had to wait for their insurance and that it took 90 days. It has been way over 90 days. We have spent over $1000 in vet bill because of something their inexperienced groomer did. We had to take our dog to the vet multiple times after that initial vet visit for follow up's and continued care. We've asked for them to cover the emergency vet bill which was $700 and the vet bill where there had to again put him under and cauterize his ear because of how bad it was, which was a total of $800. Do NOT take your dogs here as they are not professionals and are not willing to own up to their mistakes when they've injured your dog. read more

I gave their grooming services a try today and was very pleased with the results. We have had some bad grooming experiences in the past but being able to see the grooming rooms is nice and everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. They also listened to what I wanted. In the past groomers have cut my naturally shaggy dogs hair way too short, or left a lot of excess shag and charged me a ton for doing what I could have done at home. These guys did exactly what I asked and their prices are fair. I got the whole shebang (bath, hair cut, nail trim and grind, ear cleaning, gland cleaning, and a fresh happy pup) all for $80. My dog is large and has a lot of fur, so I expect to pay around that amount no matter where we go. Brad was our groomer and was very nice and seemed to handle my stubborn boy quite well. read more

This owner cut my dog so hard dime size whole in a 8 lb dog leg then when my husband pick my Bailey up she hands him the dog and does not tell him anything, she could have called and said I'm sorry we cut your dog. She said nothing my husband had to go back in and ask for a band aid and ointment all she says is we have insurance. Why! It's just a little dog why would you do that. Wonderful experience!!! I called and spoke to Allison and she got us in same day. When I arrived they were actually filming a segment for their weekly rescue dogs who need adoption. Of course as a rescue dog mom I knew I had found the right place! They have a boutique with adorable dog/cat people clothes, accessories etc and also have a pet bakery onsite. They were trying out a new dog muffin recipe when I was there. The staff were super friendly and my dogs bath and nail trim literally was the fastest I have ever experienced. When we went to pick up our Shih Tzu, she was very excited to see us and we couldn't check her out until we got home. They said it would take 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. They called within 50 mins which makes me think we didn't get all that we were told they do. Her feet are not evenly trimmed. Her face is not as good as other groomers have done. I told them her tail was the beautiful part on her but if they needed to trim it was ok. They chopped off nearly half and, when I say chopped, I mean chopped. It's awful. I am so upset. It will take a long time to grow back out and will have to be continually trimed to even it back out. The reason we went there was because they're closer to our house but we'll drive the 20 miles to the other groomer in order to get a good grooming. Never again!! read more

This review is past due. I am so happy with Anna's and the team's work at Pet Pause. They are reliable, affordable, honest and love my 2 dogs like family. I specifically want to share that on our first visit, a minor accident occurred. Anna handled this with direct, honest communication about what happened, what to do next, and asked for updates on how my pup was doing. It really was just an accident. Puppies wiggle! But to Anna, it was serious and she was legitimately concerned. A week later, I brought my pup back in, she finished his haircut and he was happy too. We noticed this new pet spa while leaving the dentist. It was really close to our home and we had been taking our pet downtown just to get cleaned. I had been hearing a lot about the self cleaning rooms and upon checking online noticed that they had self cleaning available as well so I went to check it out before taking Maestro. Upon walking in, the spa smells great with a low undertone of puppy but not bad at all. I was greeted by one of the cashiers who was happy to show me the cleaning space along with how to operate the sink, the dryer and advised me that all the products in the room came along with the experience. I was quick to go grab Maestro and bring him back and it was amazing. He weighs right around 90lbs but the way the room was set up, it was a breeze. He really enjoyed it and so did I with not having to clean up a mess at my own home. Highly recommended!! read more

I recently entrusted this groomer with my two small dogs for grooming, they were returned with subpar cuts but I let it slide, even tipped because I'm in the service industry. By the next morning, one dog was pink with burns and one must have been cut in his genital area. This wound resulted in infection and pain which had to treated by a vet. Oral antibiotic, pain killer, topical cream, and a cone later, my cost was $160.00, a morning off work, and a miserable dog. I tried to contact Pet Pause the day after service, but they were closed. I then went in the following day and explained the situation and asked for a refund on the groom and for payment of my medical bills. I was told this would be passed along to the owner. Before I made it home, the groomer called and quite proudly informed me they didn't have to do any refunds, much less pay the medical bill. She was beyond rude. I went back to address the situation in person and she was quite surprised that running your mouth over the phone might result in face to face interaction. I again asked for the owners information, while she hid behind a wooden door yelling for her coworker to call the police? Really? Absolutely no threat was made. Her coworker declined to call as he seemed to have more common sense and gave me the name of the owner. The groomer then yelled over her little door that I should have brought my dog back to them for medical treatment. I'm quite positive prescribing antibiotics is not their area of expertise, of course, grooming does not seem to be either. Because of this young woman's foul mouth, her lack of grooming skills, and overall demeanor, I highly suggest taking your beloved animal elsewhere. So 2 weeks ago I found a couple black things on my YELLOW labradoodle I called asked them to dip her if they found any fleas as she had a playdate with another dog, my yard is always treated and she has been on preventive. Once I picked her up they told me they didn't find anything on her, thankful to my relief. However, I reached out after I got home with Sandy, again about my YELLOW labradoodle and told them yet again she still had fleas. Again, this happened 2 weeks ago and finally today I received a text message that said the following to me. The complaints of past grooming was when sandy came home with a brown face and they said they didn't wash her face and to bring her back as I did because I love this place and the atmosphere, the other time before the cut her ears down to the skin, which as any dog mom would've been un happy about. Here is the text I received on my phone today from them (nothing was changed I can upload the screen shots with numbers but I am an adult) : Hi Mrs Parks Im sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you. We had to close the shop for two weeks .we are back now. So last i heard you said that was the best haircut she has ever had . Now correct me if im wrong you brought her. In said she may have fleas i told.you we do not dip dogs i did not see any on her but again she is a black dog . Im not sure what you are upset about. That your pet has fleas. Or i did not do a good job . It dors not matter what anyone bathes her in if you have fleas in your yard it also has to be teated . I am not responsible for your pet having fleas you said there was a possibility she had them i did not see any. Soon as she steps foot on any ground. They Can get on her .She needs to be on a preventative. Once a month . and grooming needs to be once a month. Be thankful i did not see any the charge for a pet with fleas it very very high . All rooms must be bombed and dissenfected.every dog from that point on has to be treated with a safe shampoo. At your expense if it was your pet that brings them. We require all pets to be vaccinated and on heartworm and flea prevention. So im looking at our charts you have been unhappy the past few times for minor things.You have used everyone of our groomers.It would probably be best and you would be happier with another facility. Be aware there is nothing any groomer can do except get current fleas off of your pet when it leaves out the door withour prevents they will gett them again.By law we are not vets we can remove fleas safely but are not required nor authorized to give flea prevent itive at anytime.- Thanks for the respect of the groomer or whoever else sent this message as now my friends and I will be taking our business elsewhere. This is by far the upmost disrespect as myself and my friends have been using them since they opened their doors. Let me remind everyone reading this my dog is NOT BLACK, she is YELLOW, she is on preventative meds and my yard gets treated monthly. Not once did they pick up the phone to apologize, and make it right but instead chose to blast and blame me through TEXT. That is excellent etiquette for a small business!
