Made an appoint and then 5 days later, a day before my appointment, they call me and leave a message saying they're cancelling because my dog is too old. They had her age in the from I filled out 5 days prior and once again when I confirmed her age via text 3 days prior. To cancel the DAY BEFORE when you've had that information shows me that they're unprofessional and have no problem wasting their customers time. Not only that, but I had only seen the cancellation text and not the voicemail so I called to see why and was told it's because the groomer's sick, so clearly I was also lied to. Petco also throws LIVE animals away into the garbage. Look it up. I would have never even chosen to come here if my dog didn't need to be groomed asap. Now I have to find another groomer and wait for her appointment AGAIN, because Petco is incompetent. read more

The "manager" at this place so rude and didn't even try to help me with my concern. Everyone at this location is just kind of unprofessional i bought a ferret and was given no information about his birth so when I tried to call the lady told me there was absolutely nothing she could do however I called other locations and told me that they have back up information about their animals but this location doesn't so I don't recommend buying from this place since they don't have any idea of what's going on. It was clearly their employees fault but for some reason it is my fault and can't even get my ferrets age. read more

Avoid grooming at this location. I am shocked at how my dog looked after a groom. I was called and told my pup was aggressive during nail trimming so I promptly picked him up and understood he was problematic for the groomers. What I didn't expect was that my dog would be completely shaved except his head and tail. He looks insane and he is playful, but not aggressive. Again, no issues with stopping the groom if my pup was biting, but why did they shave him down to nothing? We won't be back. read more

Everything you'd expect from a Petco on a small scale. This is definitely the smallest "big box" pet store I've ever been in. The upside is there's natural light and things are well kept, but you might not find less common items. There is a cute dog treat buffet cart in the front if you want to mix and match yourself a bag of treats to take home to your pup, and the small adoption center is clean and smells fresh. There were a couple of cats to visit but they were very disinterested in human interaction. This location hangs clip boards over the grates, so most of the cats chose to hide behind them and didn't seem particularly enthused that I was exposing their hiding spot. All in all it was a pleasant stop on our afternoon of errand running and they'll likely have what you need if you're looking for basics like leashes, bedding, water bottles, etc. read more

Went to get some fish for a well established tank. First off the guy who was helping get fish was an ass! He belittled a customer in front of his kids. He kept telling the guy half truths and out right lies, even after the customer said he knew the risk of having fish with a turtle. So much so the guy put his merchandise back and let the store empty handed. My experience was much worse, i picked out my fish, 7 in all checked out. I went home and put the fish bags in the tank as I've done for the last 40 years of owning fish tanks. I drained the water and placed the fish in my tank. 14 hours later all the fish from the store are dead, you would rightfully think it was the water in my tank, I thought that til I realized all but 2 of my fish are dead. Some have been in the tank for over 4 years. Idk what the fish from Petco brought in my tank, but I'm out over 100 bucks and some of my favorite fish. The saving grace in this whole thing, was the customer care i got at Rockford, the staff personal were compassionate, expressed condolences and promptly gave me a refund. I will be getting my fish from elsewhere from no on. read more

This was my puppy's first Time at the groomer. He is a very nervous and shy little puppy and therefore I was concerned how he would do. So when I Picked him up a few hours later I was so pleased to see that my little guy that only looked very handsome but he did very well. I'm very funny when it comes to the care of my Love bug outside of me especially when she's getting groomed. I usually take her to another pet store to get groomed, but I was visiting in Wisconsin and she needed to be groomed. I took a chance with this location and was very pleased with the results. RUN from this grooming facility! Their incompetence is incomprehensible! We were traveling in the area and took our six year old Goldendoodle in for a bath and light trim. We spoke extensively with the groomer and provided written instructions for her to accommodate our requests. She assured us she understood and was capable of providing a breed specific groom, according to our wishes. We returned 2 1/2 hours later to an unrecognizable dog! The groomer had shaved our doodle to 1/4 inch of her coat. Her ears were uneven and had not been cleaned nor plucked. The groomer shaved between her eyes including her eye lashes! Her belly was completely shaved to the skin, as well as, under her front legs and she had "poodle paws", all four of which were dirty. They had our pup for 2 1/2 hours yet what fur was left was still damp when we arrived. Not a single request was honored nor an explanation provided when we questioned the staff. Horrible does not begin to describe our experience! (In order to post this review I had to rate one star, but this facility deserves NO stars!) read more

We were in the market for a cat tree/kitty condo and found some we liked online. Not wanting to drive from Madison to Janesville just for fun, I called, gave the sales person the SKU number and asked if they had the cat tree I'd found online. He replied that they had four of them. Two hours later I arrived at the store and couldn't find the item I was looking for. I asked a sales person who looked like my question was entirely too much for her to deal with, but after looking all the places I had looked said she would go check the back to see where these alleged four trees were. So I waited...and waited...and waited. After 25 minutes I begin to wander around the store (the pet adoption center was completely dark with the poor kittens clawing at their windows, despite the fact that the adoption center was allegedly open. Which was heartbreaking). I head up to the front and there, at the counter checking people out, is the girl who was supposed to be looking in the back for me! At that point I asked to speak to a manager and explained what happened, she apologized and went to the back to look for the tree I wanted. She said they didn't have it, despite the computer saying they still had four of them and offered me 20% off any other model. So I got the next model up and she got a dolly to wheel it to the front where I was checked out by none other than the girl who had blown me off earlier who never uttered a meep of apology over ditching me. Actually, she acted like she'd never seen me before, lending credence to my theory that she went out back to get high and forgot her other purpose. After I checked out they left me to wheel the thing out to my car by myself. On my way out a guy dressed entirely in camo with a grizzly Adam's beard was walking in and he leered at me that I "obviously love my pussy" (yes, I know this isn't Petco's fault but it was definitely part of the experience). Once I got to my car I tried to load the thing into the trunk but it was HEAVY. Thankfully, a guy with the most adorable husky puppy stopped to help or I'm not sure I could have gotten it into my car by myself. And then I had to go back into the store to return the stupid dolly. The sad thing is they have decent products and a great selection on items. If they could get their customer service in order I think they'd have it made. As of right now, all I can say, is even if my kitten ends up loving this cat tree more than life itself, I'm not sure it will have been worth it. read more

Called yesterday to get an appointment for my puppy. Was on hold for a while, then when I did get someone she asked if she could place me on hold again because someone was using the computer. Said sure and then about 30 seconds into the hold I got a recording that told me I would have to leave a message and someone would get back to me in a couple hours. It was a little after noon when I left the message and nobody called me back. I called today, just a little bit ago, to see if they forgot and the girl didn't seem to have any time to answer my questions and never apologized for not calling back. Guess I'll have to find some other place that can help because that really left me feeling uncomfortable thinking about leaving my puppy with people who seem too exasperated to give any kind of good customer service to the human. Makes me wonder what type of treatment my puppy will get. I was really hoping to have a place to get my food, grooming and training all in one spot but maybe I will have to find another place to get all those services. read more
