Bought 4 molly fish from the Petco in Murrieta. And a bunch of others from PetSmart. As soon as we put the Molly's in, one went directly down to the bottom of the tank, could barely swim and died about 20 min later. Brought the one dead fish back to this location with receipt and say they want to test my water before return?! I spend 100's of dollars from Petco and you can't exchange a $4 fish!? read more

I got a healthy looking goldfish and added him to my tank and a few days later I noticed my other two goldfish are not okay: red spots on their tails and ick. Lovely staff members. The groomers always treat my dog right. She always comes out of there looking perfect and happy. They do their best to make sure we are satisfied with their work and offer the best suited recommendations for my pup. Even when they find something my dog isn't comfortable with (nail buffer) they let me know and no longer attempt to do that to avoid causing my dog any extra stress. Overall, the grooming department is great in my opinion. The cashiers I've met are also kind and friendly. Everyone is always happy to help. read more

This location has a bit different lay out that all the others that I have frequented. It's nice though, open lay out, a bit scattered with some things, but you can find what you want and need and the staff is knowledgeable and can give good advice for your pet. I have been at night and in the day and it is never busy in here, all I ever see is maybe one or two customers and one employee...weird. I'd like to start off saying that I've noticed that most of the negative reviews have to do with the grooming services at Petco and that I know know nothing about. My complaint is with an employee named Debbie who works quite often in the fish department. My husband and I both in our late 50s have had aquariums most of our life and very knowledgeable on the care and most everything concerning our aquariums which are show quality. However Debbie doesn't think so because every time I go into buy a fish she has to give me the third degree on the size of our tanks, the ratio of inch's of fish to water, the pH and on and on. I think what upsets me is that we have been in there so many times in the last 3 years and spent so much money in that store that you think by now she would recognize us. But oh no, every time I go to buy something I get questioned like I'm a novice and I'm tired of it and my husband and I have had conversations with her about our beautiful tanks. She's over the top and today was the second time in two weeks I have walked out of the store on Collier in Lake Elsinore without purchasing anything and I will never go back in that store again. And when I asked her what her name was she looked at me sarcastically and smiled and said Debbie. And by the way the last time I was in there I went through the same ordeal with her and then I went back to ask if she could please help me with a couple of fish that I had picked out, she snapped at me she was busy testing water and it woulld be about 15 - 20 minutes and she would call somebody else to help me, I then waited 20 minutes while some young man was fussing in the fish tanks 6 feet away from me and nobody bothered to help me and I was the only customer in the store, terrible customer service and I will never return to that store. I'm only giving 5 stars because of the very new worker by the name of Eddie. He was extremely polite, very kind and helped out while the manager who is a short brunette, (i don't know their pronouns so I will not assume) they sat in the back while a customer had thrown up on the floor and only came out after they were paged multiple times. The manager proceeded to then talk about the customer before me who was understandably frustrated at the fact that Eddie had been overworked and taken advantage of by a lazy manager and other lazy coworkers who couldn't be bothered to help this one out. Will i go back to this one? Definitely not. Will it hurt their bottom line? definitely not. Stop letting lazy managers overwork employees. That's how you lose really good people and customers will not return. read more

DONT EVER GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE. I took my puppy to get a simple hair cut here and paid $40. My puppy was only 3 months and was extremely tiny. Two weeks after the grooming I noticed that my puppy was scratching himself constantly, to the point where he had bald spots. Of course being concerned I took him to the vet and turned out my puppy has scabies. My puppy never goes around any other dogs and is an inside dog. No one in my family has EVER had scabies. The vet explained to me that if the grooming salon doesn't clean their tools they could pass scabies from one dog to another!!! PETCO GAVE MY DOG SCABIES!!! I went to speak to the manager and waited about 3 weeks for a call back from corporate. I didn't ask for money or anything like that, all I asked was for them to cover the expenses of trying to get my puppy better. I spent a total of $400 on medication and treatment for my puppy!! Petco is a huge establishment and should do their best to help their customers!! My puppy has lost a majority of his hair and is slowly developing anxiety due to us not being able to hold him from the risk of us getting scabies as well. DO NOT SUPPORT PETCO ANYMORE!! Wow. I'm normally not the type to complain about my shopping experience but I will absolutely never shop her again. Lynn, the manager, took two bettas from my hand and walked away without saying anything. I waited in line to ask if they treat the ones with swim bladder or if they let experienced people try to help them. She told me they were just sleeping, so now they won't be treated and will die. When I said they can't swim down so that's a sign of swim bladder, she just took them and walked away from me. Then when I went to see her name badge, she started talking about me with another costumer. This location has lost a frequent flyer. I'm in shock at how I was treated and they lost a sale. read more

Aurora was more than kind. Took the time to talk to me prior to my pup Benny's appointment. We went over what I wanted for him, she assured she'd do her best based on my concerns and a previous groomer's notes; she delivered above and beyond. It was the best cut my temperamental, non-human-friendly lil guy has ever gotten. She kept saying how sorry she was about he looked but I believe she has such high standards for her expertise that she didn't realize how all I care about was the comfort of my pup. My puppy looked the most incredible he has ever looked with a groomer bur most importantly, he felt great. That's saying something considering how difficult he is to deal with. My pup's zoom groom appointment was finished with swiftness, yet attentiveness. All boxes were checked. I just hope Aurora knows how deeply mine, and Benny's appreciation is for her. Just adopted our first cat at the shelter and came to Petco to buy supplies. I was told by the people at the shelter to use the same litter and food they do while she is adjusting to her new home. Both times I have gone into Petco to purchase food or litter in the past two weeks, I've been INSULTED by employees insinuating that I am harming my new kitty by not feeding her what THEY recommend. I'm sorry, but if your policy is to push certain foods and discourage others, then stop selling IAMS and other brands and only sell what your going to insist people buy. While the "canned" responses by their corporate office to customer concerns here are disappointing, the store itself is much better since screening what they sell for better ingredients. They finally started carrying Weruva/ BFF cat food, and some other brands that aren't the typical large grocery-store brands. I don't trust any pet food company that uses grains, fillers, and random chemicals and then has a line of "healthy" products to satisfy those of us that care about our pet's food. I appreciate Petco for starting to curate better products, though there is room for improvement. They often don't have the Lamb and Tuna "Shazaam" flavor that my cats like best, so sometimes I have to do my shopping from another online vendor. read more

I've never used their grooming services. Service: This is where the trouble begins. Their people are usually friendly and helpful. This is more a shot at their return policy. I actually didn't have anything to return. The item rang up at the wrong price. I pointed it out and the clerk said she had to process a return and then place another order. I was ok with that until this turned into a 5 minute ordeal. Normally when a return is processed you have to give your name and # and address. Not real sure why that is. i can guess. But i cant figure why inconveniencing the customer is a good practice. Anyway, at first i balked at the idea that I had to do anything for their mistake. Are you friggin serious that I have to fill out paperwork for your mistake? Really? Really? I should have just walked out at that point but i had no other option. So 5 minutes into my transaction I walked out hella annoyed and vowing to never come back. I just go to Pet Smart now. Convenience: I dont really like coming into this shopping center. It's not convenient for me. From the freeway the entrance into the center is fine. The exit is what's weird. In order to get back to the 15 there is only one left turn exit from this center. Most of the time i don't even make the first light turning left. It's a real pain. Especially on the weekends when it's crowded. Value: I personally think most pet items are overpriced. Today, my best friends and I visited Petco with their two young children, to purchase hamsters for the eldest's birthday. From the research we did had done, we were set on getting Teddy Bear Hamster's; however, we quickly changed our minds once we were introduced to a gentleman named Trevor. Trevor was accommodating, knowledgeable, and considerate. Not only did Trevor have the animals best interest in mind, but he also cared about who would be the best fit for the children. After we had been led around the store to ensure we had all of the proper items, we left this location feeling confident that we had made the right choice. I was shopping online for a recreation pen for our Chihuahua's and most every where I looked I needed to order it. Pay tax AND shipping so I decided to go into the Petco in Lake Elsinore and low and behold there was the very pen I was looking for (just the upgraded version) which suited me just fine because it was only $10 more than the one I actually wanted to purchase in the 1st place (but that takes care of any shipping charges ordering it online would have caused) so hooray Petco! I've bought several fish here and all of them were healthy and are doing great! There are aquarium plants for sale, some of the plants look pretty bad, but I've got a couple of gems from here. I bought 2 anubias plants from the little plastic containers they have on an end cap to the right of the aquariums, and they are just beautiful. They are regularly sprouting new leaves and seem very healthy. read more

Update on Theodore. So yesterday, I took my dog Theodore here to be groomed and as I previously mentioned, he was butchered. Today, I spoke with the store manager about my experience. Camille(store manager) explained to me that I consented to this horrid haircut. That the matting was too much, and he needed to be shaved. Again, I have been a customer at this location for about 10 years. Bringing other dogs here to be groomed without an issue. Ive had dogs of a similar breed as Theodore, and never once have they needed to be shaved like this. On top of this awful haircut, I discovered cuts on the underneath of both of Theodore's ears. The store manager blamed that on "hematoma". Not the case, you can see distinct cuts on his ears. I told the store manager that my family and I will not be returning to Petco and she responded with "well I guess I'll let the Groomer's know that Theodore will not be back". Apparently Petco thinks thinks this sort of hack job is an appropriate representation of their business. So if you want your dog to be abused and shaved almost bald for $80, by all means. But for me, I will never take another pet here, I'll never purchase another item here, and I'll be sure to spread to word to everyone I know. This sort of abuse needs to be stopped. I cannot believe no one is taking any responsibility for this. Today, Theodore is lethargic and not acting himself at all. Petco is not where my pets go. read more

Felicia is wonderful! She went out of her way to help us and our little puppy last night! We came in with a return, but they were out of stock of the item. She then informed me that they price match there online selection, because of this I was able to find a very nice replacement bed for a reasonable price. I then asked her about my PALS account, because I couldn't access my points. She went out of her way and spent over 20 minutes on the phone with the help desk to fix my account.( I have been to 3 other Petco's who simply turned me away) It meant a lot that she helped me out.
