This review is for the VETCO located inside-- They were nice & gentle with our baby, but the prices are exorbitant. There are much more affordable clinics. Paid about $100 for a wellness exam in addition to the $300 package we chose for our kitten's first visit. Prior to leaving, the recep assured us it'd only cost $30 for the booster shot / 2nd visit - citing due to it being with a different vet as the one that we had doesn't work there on the day we scheduled... Ok fine. When we came back for the booster shot, they charged another $100 wellness exam fee. We didn't bother disputing it; I'm sure they had some bs answer ready to go lol. Just left knowing we won't be back & lesson learned, ask for everything in writing/email. Just glad our baby was returned to us safe & sound, that's what mattered most! read more

Well here it is two days later and the same day delivery still hasn't shown up. So I kindly asked for a full refund. The customer service representative told me they couldn't process a refund because the system doesn't allow it while the order is "pending". The vet is a solid 10/10. The staff were amazing, and the whole process was completely stress-free. Eevee went in for urine testing and blood panels, I got a little emotional on her needing to get poked with needles. Xochil was incredibly patient, answering the same questions I asked multiple times and reassuring me that my fur baby would be okay. I enrolled my 2 year old Frenchie, Gigi, at Petco for the beginner training classes. We took the group class but it wound up only being two dogs in the group including Gigi. I thought the price was very reasonable. I was assigned to the trainer Lilly and I am very pleased with my dog's progress! Gigi is a good dog overall, but I didn't work as hard as I could have when she was a puppy to train her, so I was anxious that maybe staring to train her when she was 2 years old may be too late. I was wrong, because Lilly had done a great job at teaching Gigi and I long term methods and keys to keeping your dog in check. Lilly is very kind and has a lot of patience when teaching. She is also very knowledgeable about dogs so if I ever came to her with a problem she always had a solution or would help me think of one. After finishing the 6 weeks beginners course Gigi is definitely more obedient and listens more overall, which was one of the main things I wanted to take away from the class. Gigi and I will take the advanced class with Lilly and i'm convinced that she will make great process there as well. We are looking forward to it, and certainly recommend requesting Lilly as a trainer. I also take Gigi to Petco for their grooming services. So I came in the other day to get some OTC flea medicine which I knew wasn't great but was kinda desperate and luckily an employee told me they had VETCO the next day and I could get prescription strength medicine. I brought my cats in and they saw them both right on time, it was so easy and not stressful I could've totally taken both cats by myself easily. I didn't get the girls names at the vax counter but they were so nice and knowledgeable so I left feeling confident we could get rid of the fleas at home. This location is ghetto! I visited this store yesterday evening. I picked up the items I needed and noticed a long line at check out. I decided I should use the bathroom as there was going to be a wait. The bathroom had no hand towels. No toilet paper. No toilet seat covers. The seat was up and there was feces on the rim. The door did not lock properly. And the second lock -- a chain lock that just slides across the mechanism to only fall out the other side--also did not work. You could see by the floors and the walls and the trash can dispenser that this bathroom has not been cleaned in decades! Though there was three spray bottles on the back of the toilet. Hmmm. Interesting. Not sure what for. They have a second bathroom which was locked. I waited. And waited as it neared closing time. I asked a clerk if the other restroom was available and could she open it up. She said, No. we keep it locked. It's not available. And she breathed out a sigh of irritation. I informed her of the zero paper situation. She offered to refill the bathroom. And she did so but only with toilet paper. So I did what I had to. I used the toilet paper as a seat cover. And drip dryed my hands. I then waited in line for about 10 minutes --uh a long time for retail when the line is NOT moving. Finally after closing time had passed and the FOUR clerks were unable to get any help for their technical cash register being downed/offline/or (?) They told the six parties in line that they were going to have to come back tomorrow. Really?! Petco, do better! This place is gross. The other reviewers of the bathroom do not lie. I went to this location late last year to pick up my dog food and I dropped my wallet. It was turned in to the parking lot security guard. The security took my wallet admitted to receiving my wallet and then claimed he didn't know what happened to but that he did receive it. He vanished that same night never to be heard from again. Of East Hollywood is on the northwest corner of Hollywood/Western directly next to Marshall's with a shared parking lot structure and they're open every day from 10 am to 7 pm. I think this is a pretty good Petco. The service is super friendly and they keep things nice and tidy. I like to pop in and grab treats for my friends with pets including my roommates #DogUncleLife as well as check out the fish, exotic animals, birds, and furry critters for an animal lover pick me up... Also sometimes they have some limited small plants for sale so you know that brings me in. I also love getting a better sense of pricing for when someone is looking for something specific like a new pet bed or cat tower. The prices are fair, but for certain items, you can get lucky at local discount stores like Ross, which is where I got a new dog bed for a friend's pet's Xmas gift a while back. Petco does tend to carry longer-lasting/higher-quality items, but they just don't have enough sales. They do have a solid rewards program and some cool coupons now and then, however. The store never seems too busy and even when it mildly is they have plenty of pet crew/associates to help you out in all areas. Just saw the other day that this location has Vetco total care! I've been coming here for 5 years now. This is the BEST Petco--and the only one I will come to. The shelves are always stocked. The employees are kind and knowledgeable. I'll never forget one of the times Nick assisted me with food/treat recommendations when my dog Riley was old and sick a year ago... He asked all the right questions and helped her eat something. I don't think he will know how much that meant to me. She may not be here anymore, but I still think everyone should how much this Petco actually cares about customers and their dogs. Horrible experience working with this Petco. They require a 48 hr cancellation for their grooming services on the customer's end but feel very comfortable cancelling 2 hrs before the (twice confirmed) grooming is supposed to happen. Whether you have a call out or not, you shouldn't be allowed to cancel an entire days worth of groomings 2 hrs before they start. I would suggest going literally anywhere else if you are looking for a groomer. read more

Okay i'm not one to write negative reviews but I just had the most ridiculous experience here. They closed early before 8pm, which is when they are supposed to close on Sundays as it says online AND outside of their doors. I arrived at 7:40pm and drove all the way here to get my cat some of the wet food she likes. I knocked on their doors - even the security guard encouraged me to do so as they are not supposed to do that. Not only did the man (just one of like 4 people I saw working in there) who was inside come over and say they were closed, but when I called him out he then said the registers were down, which was obviously a lie - plus I had cash they could've taken. So rude and I would've been in and out so quick on top of all of that. If you truthfully close at 7pm on Sundays, then change it online and change the signs outside of your doors so people don't waste their time driving here to get their animals food. read more

She seems unable to schedule appointments correctly, which is frustrating since the groomers are responsible for booking the next visit. Came here today with my 18 year old daughter because she wanted a parakeet. This store definitely needs to stock their aisles especially in the dog food area. It looks like they have stock, but just not opened. It took forever to get someone to help us, because it was very busy. The young lady that helped us was very knowledgeable and super sweet. She explained every question my daughter asked. Great customer service! When we went to check out the young lady at the counter was also super sweet and gave great customer service too! This petco seriously should get a zero star review. I got my pup about a year ago & since then the same aisles STILL need to be restocked. They have almost nothing! What's the point of being open if they don't carry much?? Also, my sisters' pup needed a wound care spray this week & it said it was in stock when she went in they told her it was still boxed & asked her to come the next day. I came in for her the next day & it was STILL boxed & they let me know they didn't know when it would be placed on shelves because "the guy who does that job might not come in for a few days". When I asked if they could check who might have it they told me "you can call other petcos". Just horrible, truly bad. I will definitely be driving 20mins more to meet the needs of my pup. The grooming department is ran by a mean unfriendly woman named Joan. She always looks like shes In a bad mood and gives off a negative dismissive vibe. I stopped using her services because I had a bad experience with her a couple of years back where she wasted my time and had me come in for an appointment only to be told she didn't want to do the job and cussed at me about the dog's ears. She said, "there's too much f-ing hair in her ears." My dog at the time was a 6 month old poodle and we were still learning how to care and groom her and the way she behaved was beyond rude. Ever since she did that, we haven't used her as a groomer but still take our dog there to get groomed by the other staff members. But they keep dropping like flies and I scheduled an appointment with Keila since Ethan our go to groomer quit. The appointment was for today at 9 AM. I showed up 10 minutes early. Joan was in the back office and never once bothered to come out and greet us, check the dog in or to let us know that her employee Keila was late or was not coming in yet I had confirmed my appointment I received countless notifications from Petco confirming my appointment via email and text and yet I'm still standing there not being greeted taking time off work to go drop off my dog for this grooming appointment. If Keila was not available why did the grooming department confirm the appointment?!! We had to get a Petco staff member to go check if anyone was in even in the grooming office and still she didn't come out to check us in. My partner and I decided to leave after being ignored for 15 mins as we're doing so we see another woman coming down the stairs to drop off her dog and we waited outside the door to see if she got assistance from Joan and sure enough Joan comes out for the other customer with a face full of makeup and I confronted her and all she did was make excuses for why she ignored us. I will not be returning to that store for grooming services and I will not be giving my business to Petco anymore and you can thank Joan's stank attitude and lack of good customer service skills for that. No one has time to be playing petty little games. But I guess she does. I can see why all the grooming staff quits and doesn't last there. Read all the reviews in Yelp and Google. There are many reviews about how rude the staff is in the grooming department. No good reviews for Joan either. read more

I called before I came the first time and the woman on the phone was phenomenal then I came in person and Nick helped me find the perfect food for my goldendoodle who was struggling with a chicken allergy. We ended up going with the purina pro plan lamb and rice ! That was about a month ago and I'm back today and was assisted by Nick again and I have to say he was just as wonderful! Avoid getting your pet groomed here if at all possible. My dog was "groomed" in under 2 hours, but it doesn't feel like she was washed. Her coat is still hard and crunchy. The worst part is that her sanitary area was uncleaned and untidy. I had to wipe my dog down with multiple pet wipes and she's still gross. I was really impressed with the customer service at this location! Marsha, Roy, and AJ were great! I recently adopted a puppy and have been in multiple times. I went in with the intention of purchasing a collar that sprays water for my pup when he barks inside and was already feeling uneasy about it. Marsha introduced me to an alternative when I decided not to go through with it. She sold me on the Pet Corrector and Bully Sticks for my teething little dude when she offered advice. Grooming people just don't know how to communicate and just don't feel like working. I filled out the forms online prior to my arrival and i clearly mentioned that my dogs had little scabs on his ears. (not severe at all) and after i arrived for my appointment, they then tell me that they can't groom/wash him because of them. Since my last dog's grooming appt went well, I wanted to take him in to get a full grooming appt (hair trim, bath, and nail trim) but the woman who was booking my appt looked at his history and said since there were notes the grooming wasn't complete they may not do a perfect job. He's been there 3 times according to her, and it was one haircut, 1 bath, and 1 nail trim. She made it sound like they wanted to skip to do a proper job because of an off experience (who knows if it's my dog or the groomer), and was just overall unpleasant in booking the appt. I ended up canceling because right off the bat there were excuses as to why they may not be able to do it 2 weeks in advance LOL! Seriously?
