I've been bringing my dog to this groomer for a while now and had always appreciated the care--until recently. Just 10 days ago, I was quoted $85 for a grooming, but when I picked up my dog, I was told it would be $95. I didn't argue--I'm not one to make a fuss, so I let it go. Fast forward to today, only 10 days later, and I was told the price had jumped to $120. My dog hasn't doubled in size or changed in any significant way in that short time. When I asked why, they suddenly dropped the price to $110. It feels like they just make up the price on the spot depending on the day, and that lack of consistency is incredibly frustrating--not to mention unfair to loyal customers. To make matters worse, this time my dog was returned to me still damp. The level of care clearly isn't the same anymore, and I'm not willing to pay premium prices for inconsistent service. I've been going out of my way to bring my dog here, but unfortunately, I will not be returning. I don't recommend this place if you value transparency, reliability, and consistent quality. read more

I supported this place because it was local and they always did a great job the last 3 years! I'm writing this review because of inconsistencies in pricing. It says on the wall $80 for small dogs (20 pounds or less) yet every time I've gone in recently the owners charged me significantly more. I've bit the costs even though I was upset with the lack of transparency until this last visit they quoted me $120 (BEFORE ME TIPPING ON TOP OF IT)!! I was so appalled by the increase to just me I actually left to take him somewhere else for fairer pricing. Do not go there. I am unsure what is going on but when I started going there a year ago it was great. Now it's awful. They cut one of my dogs ear, they shaved my 2 dogs and my catstails (when I specifically requested not too). Now today was the cherry on top, my animals were there for almost 4hrs. This is insane, my animals should not have been in a kennel for that long, there's no way 3 haircut and bath took 4h. My cat came back still WET, her collar and tracker were also wet and ruined. I'm REALLY Disappointed that my dog came home Shaking Her Head Incessantly and leaning her whole head to the left side when she's walking. At first I didn't want to overreact, because I noticed her doing this as soon as I picked her up and we left the shop. I figured she was just adjusting to her freshly washed and new fully shaved down doo. But Hours later, when she was Still favoring her head to the left and shaking it every few steps she took, I called the shop at 5:13pm to see if they had any ear drying solution there that I could quickly bring her by to have them put some in her ear (I only live a few minutes away), as I assumed she might have had water lodged in her ear (which is Very Difficult to do with dogs as their ear canals are not like ours, so water doesn't easily reach the eardrum). The woman who works there answered the phone and told me I'd have to speak with the groomer and he'd call me back. When I had not received a call back by 5:23p, I tried calling again, MULTIPLE times, as I knew they would be closing at 5:30p. Needless to say, I Never heard back from them. Even after leaving 2 voice messages regarding my dog's head shaking & irritation. I'll be honest, the haircut is cute. But it's no different than what she's received when I've taken her to Alessandro's Pet Spa (her haircuts have Always been Super Cute there too). The only difference is that Heartlee DIDN'T come back with Any issues from Alessandro's. The reason I gave Alex Grooming a try is because a neighbor of mine told me her dog (very similar in size to my dog) was shaved there for $55. Though Alex charged me $75 (which I didn't understand at all, since Heartlee is So Similar to my neighbor's dog), I decided to have them do it because my neighbor's dog looked Really Well groomed and when I went there for a quick quote and they said they could take Heartlee in right away and be finished in 2 hours, I decided to try Alex's out. NEVER AGAIN!!! Alessandro's charges me only $5 more and Again, I've never brought her home with ANY Issues from that groomer. So I guess I have my answer and I will NOT be coming back to Alex Grooming. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I should have just gone to Alessandro's. Alex's Grooming honestly owes me a partial refund as I had to go and buy some powder for her ear, in hopes that it will stop whatever is irritating her. And I Am leaving to a festival for a few days, in the a.m., which is why it was so pertinent for me to have Alex (or whomever was at the shop), speak to me on the phone and allow me to quickly bring her back so her ear could be looked at. I gave a $20 tip too! And with the way they handled this issue, I don't feel they deserve it. read more

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to write this one. I have been going to Alex Grooming for a few months since it's so affordable ($55 for a haircut and bath), but I understand now why the price is so low. My dogs regularly have uneven coats (one side is much shorter than the other). This place has also lost my dogs' leash twice. Also, I always hear my dog barking incessantly like she's frantic to get out. At other groomers, she's always calm and happy. When I go to pick up my pups, they're always trying to run away from the place. I've seen other dogs behave the same way. I was blinded by the low cost but will not be anymore. The level of disorganization and poor care have made me a lost customer forever for this place. read more

Danny and his family stayed open very late to assist with a severe infestation after we tried giving flea baths and medication(didn't do much). Second review of this groomer commending on the unbelievable job they did on my new poodle pup! My little dog had a medium flea infestation getting worse and worser I felt. When I picked her up she was as good as New. The carrier I brought her in was cleaned and sanitized. Zero fleas anywhere and everywhere she was Flawless... the cleanest dog as could be!! Beware of this place. The owner is terrible. They cut my dog's face and did not tell me. He is bleeding at top of nose and is in pain. Then when I called to let them know the owner yelled at me that the groomer works for her and that she doesn't take responsibility for injuring my dog. She was incredibly unprofessional. I am only putting this review to warn you that if they hurt your dog they will try to hide it and not let you know. They make a mistake then scream at you for the mistake. I regret taking my dog here. Please stay away for your sake. The owner of this place tries to intimidate and has some serious issues. You are definitely lying about fleas. I never mentioned anything about fleas. There is literally blood coming out of the cut. Skin irritation wouldn't cAuse blood coming out of a very open cut. read more

So I've been waiting to see if my dogs ear got better because well they're kind people but I don't think that they may be professional licensed because took him to get groomed and they hurt his ear because I took him to get a hair cut and ear cleaning and nail trim and I didn't notice that he still had the cotton balls In his ear until we got him and his ears look lopsided and he keeps shaking his head so we already made appointment with the vet to figure how bad they damaged his ear and he has little cuts in them too but since they damaged the inside of his ear he doesn't stay still to look at the right ear and I've took him to groomers before and never had a problem like this were I have to take my pup to the vet!!!! LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY GIRL! My cat came in for a flea bath and a sanitary cut. Imagine my utter horror when my husband let her out of her carrier and she was SHAVED in a full lion cut. And not even a good one. They sheered her with what I can only assume is malice after she reacted poorly to the rough handing during her bath. Ironically, her butt (the one spot I did want clipped) looks the worst of all. Uneven and shaved to the skin in spots. I'm going to have to treat the razor burn for the next few weeks. And her fur with take months to grow back; it may never be the same. This experience was cruel and humiliating for my cat. I can't speak to their skill with dogs, but PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CAT HERE. Edit: As you can see, even the owner isn't taking responsibility for this terrible job. I was sitting next to my husband telling him what to say on the phone, and at no point did he ask for a full-body shave. He requested a flea bath, general grooming, and a sanitary clip. Grooming is combing/brushing, removing any mats, maybe a little trimming/shaping. It's clear now that this place doesn't groom cats, just shave them. Note that this is a cat whose skin was sensitive from fleas. No responsible owner with an ounce of knowledge would want a shorthair cat with raw skin shaved to the skin in the dead of winter, and no experienced cat groomer would agree to do it. The owner's response only further shows their lack of experience with feline customers. read more

Alex was our groomer at Hollywood Pets for a long time and we decided to keep bringing our dog to him when he opened his own place. He does a great job and is really kind. His family is also very nice too, and the price is affordable. I now live a bit farther away but I don't mind driving over here to get my dog Kyah groomed, especially since she has wired hair that gets wild looking. My dog is also easily nervous and scared of everything, so it's normal that I spend about 5 minutes trying to wrestle her out of my car no matter where we go. But once she's done getting groomed she comes back excited like nothing ever happened. She's only 12lbs but in the past I've seen two Petsmart employees have to wrestle her for a nail trim (embarrassing...) So I don't know how Alex does it but he manages to get her looking cleaned up and nice in 1.5 hours. That's worth the drive and wrestling for me. Thank you again for all the hard work! read more

I started off with having his services at a different shop on Hollywood Blvd, and he did such an incredible job that he was able to break off and get his own shop! I can't tell you how handsome my boy is everytime he leaves Alex! He's 18 and leaves looking like he's 11 at the most!! And now that he's older and more fragile, Alex takes extra care to be gentle with him. Very sweet family owned business. I'm an anxious dog mom, and I have been bringing my baby here since they opened (several years now). She always gets a great cut at a reasonable price, and they accommodate my equally anxious dog as much as possible. Alex even remembers her by name! Every other groomer I've tried has made my dog's hair choppy and uneven, so I know she has a challenging hair type. I can always trust Alex to make her look cute, even on his busiest days.
