We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is a terror when it comes to stuffed animals. Once she's able to rip open a seam that stuffy isn't long for the world. Except for one specific toy. It's a stuff hedgehog that she's had for 7 months and is still in one piece. When we realized that we should have backup in cast Twinkle managed to maim this one a quick Google search told us they have one at this Petco location...and that it was on sale. About 20 minutes later we walked in and headed toward the stuffed animal section. We thought it'd a breeze to find a hedgehog, but NOOOOO. I never knew there were so many types of stuffed animals for pets! There are, easily, 4 rows of merchandise of the stuffed variety, some in colours that don't naturally occur in nature, but all fun. It took some searching, but we found the hedgehog we were looking for and another stuffed animal that had reinforced seams, which is probably going to give Twinkle more of a challenge than she expects. We noticed the price on the tag didn't reflect the sale price on the website, so we went to the cashier to check out. The cashier said that if we could show the sale price on their website on our cell phone that they would 100% honor the sale price. And so it was, that we only paid $3.00 for the hedgehog because of their nifty price-matching policy. We also got the reinforced raccoon (at least I *think* it was a raccoon) and got out of there spending just a little over $10. The very next week we needed to get Twinkle some dog food, so back to Petco it was! Both of the staff members we ran into were pleasant and helpful and, you could tell that they love what they do. And, let's be honest, working at a place like Petco, where people bring their pets in routinely, wouldn't be such a bad gig. read more

Large and well spaced out per store located in Middletown portion of Louisville. Stopped in here for some bird food for my African grey parrot. They had very few options on the Bird food. They had some live animals for sale such as lizards, fish and small birds. My kids enjoyed asking for those every aisle we turned down. They had some grooming areas and training areas for dogs as well. So seems like they offer extra services. Overall solid shop. Tad bit expensive. Wish they had more bird food options. read more

We went to the store for our appt. We arrived early and the moment we came up to the reception area for the grooming a woman came out to the area from the back end she immediately said she would not have time to do our dog, she even weighed him hoping we had categorized him incorrectly, but we had not. The she said if it was his first grooming she would not have time to handle him if he freaked out. After speaking with her manager she came back out and said she would try but if he had any issues she would not be able to finish. An hour and fifteen minutes later she has not even started him and so I asked the asst. Manager if she would even get to him before she had to leave. Within 5 minutes I was handed my dog without a collar and told if we were going to rush them they couldn't do it for us. They weren't comfortable. I do not think they wanted to do him because they wanted to get out early on a Friday. So our dog was not groomed and they tried to tell me he had been started when we handed him over, not sure what they think they did but there was no sign of work being done on him The manager of the store seemed good listening to us. We will not be going back there the groomers all had attitudes and treated the dogs without any caring. Our groomer was Hannah B. I do not recommend her.very poorly, we had made an appts and we were trying to get our dog groomed, not give them a hard time. read more

Hands down, best customer service. We've been to all PetCo locations in the surrounding Kentuckiana area and this one is our go to. Not only for grooming for our Dane and Cockapoo- but also just products. Today we stopped in when they first opened and my 8 year old wanted a harness and leash for her pup. She was spending her own money and couldn't find what she wanted in her budget. The staff was so sweet and let her come over to where they were retagging clearance items where she found exactly what she was looking for, and below her budget! read more

This Petco location is close to our home so we have gone to it off and on since moving to Louisville. The grooming department is hit or miss, very inconsistent. Sometimes our dogs are trimmed well and as requested with good attention to the ears and toenails, and other times they are cut uneven or shorter than we request. The price for grooming is reasonable and appointments are usually within a week of calling. The store seems small to me as compared to Petco stores that I have been to in other cities. The item selection is typical of similar size corporate stores. Parking is plentiful as the store is in a large strip mall. read more

I truly don't like to update and give bad reviews but I have sat on my dissatisfaction for too long. This was a while ago, maybe even last year, but I will not take my dog here again, for grooming or shopping because she is truly traumatized. She had a bad experience with a bath and haircut here. The grooming manager, Kevin, was quite friendly but had purple dyed hair, a hat, a beard and a mask on and was actually quite scary looking and I'm sure this contributed to my dog being more anxious than normal. The cut my dog received at this time was so choppy and she had skinned parts (belly and booty). At no point in our pre-cut consultations did I ever say I wanted her cut down that short. He had the nerve to say she snapped at him! After the cut I can see why that might have happened. Just as a side note, trying to get someone to answer the phone here unless the literally just called you to come get your pet, is impossible. There is/was a groomer named Robin who is excellent but for good reason, aways booked up. read more

Jessica was Brilliant and I am so glad I walked up to her! I checked online whom else (not the rude dudes at Feeder Supply) sold the dog guard that is for fleas and ticks taken orally. Petco popped up as a purveyor of this medication. She did not know if they had the brand NextGuard, but she took me to where they were at and double checked on her tablet with the app for the store. Then once finding out where, if it was at the store. She explained, that was a prescription not over the counter medication so they wouldn't have it readily available anyway. Much less on a holiday weekend or weekend really. I would have come here first had I known and I would've got an explanation that actually was helpful. Where as the other guys at feeders supply couldn't bother to look up and figure that stuff out, to not have me go to another place and sold what I wanted. Extremely disappointed in my experience with Petco Middletown grooming. We've had this appointment for over a month for our Golden Retriever. Upon arrival, I noticed there were a ton of dogs in the grooming section- understandably so since it's the holiday season. I dropped off my dog & 9 minutes after her appointment time, they called me to pick her up. They claimed they couldn't get her to stand due to being scared & told me they could not groom her there. My mind was blown. Nine minutes! They put her under water & "dried her off the best they could" by the time they called me nine minutes later. I'm sure dogs come in constantly that are scared to get baths by people they're unfamiliar with. Do they get turned away every time? Extremely frustrated & disappointed by the lack of patience & effort from Petco staff. They didn't even try. My thoughts are they were overbooked & didn't want to deal with trying to groom my dog. Brought my 1 year old Shetland Sheepdog for a bath and first haircut. Robin H, his groomer, did an excellent job on him, and he looks great. It was a pleasant experience working with her. She was able to take care of some matting on his back legs and trim the rest of his body very nicely. She seems to do a very thorough job and enjoys what she does, which shows! I went here after 5 different pet stores trying to find a leopard gecko and they really made my christmas. Especially two workers. I'm so happy that they were so nice and understanding. I've never ordered anything from Petco before. I did this time for my pet's heart medication because Petco offered next day delivery whereas others would have taken 2-3 days. And I confirmed when placing my order that it would in fact be here the next day. Well it's been 3 days, and Petco still hasn't even processed the order. Their customer service is completely unhelpful and says I'll be receiving an e-mail update within the next week. What a disgrace of a business. When I was at the Hurstbourne Petco that doesn't have Star Wars cat toys, they mentioned the Middletown location was bigger and I might try there. No joy! The staff member who tried to help me suggested I could make the Star Wars dog toys into cat toys, to which I responded, "That's not really my role as a consumer." And, "You might as well call it a dog store and be done with it." And, "You know there are actually way more cats as household pets in this country." And finally, "It's not your fault." So yes, this location is bigger, which makes their measly cat toy selection an even greater tragedy! One side of one aisle? Nothing I can't get cheaper on Amazon? None of the exclusive swag we come to Petco to buy? Just go ahead and slap cat families in the face, Petco, it would hurt less. Located near Kroger on Shelbyville Rd in Middletown. A rather small store with limited variety. During a recent grooming they forgot to cut my dog's nails and I had to take him to the vet for this service (he was noticeably licking his paw and limping). I have since found a better and cheaper groomer. I have purchased dog toys that are labelled 'indestructible' and my one year old Yorkie-tzu has shredded them in minutes. My 12 lb "Velociraptor' even devoured a toy made of fire-hose material. I would purchase his dog food there with a coupon but they don't carry it anymore. I took him to a puppy training class last Fall but its effects were limited. I'm not sure dog training classes with multiple 'students' is a good learning environment. We recently had to board our pup during a trip to Ireland and since our return he has responded well to our commands and instructions. Not sure what 'flipped the switch' but we are thankful. Patience and allowing him to escape his puppy-hood has paid off. read more

I attempted to return an item I purchased online 30 days ago. It was a dog harness that was way too small for my Pyrenees. I had the packing slip and receipt that came with the product. The cashier called over a women I assume was management. She stated I needed to have the original e-mail receipt in order to obtain a refund or exchange. I informed her my e-mails were deleted daily. She offered no assistance what so ever. I had no need for a harness 5 sizes to small for my dog , so I simply told her to keep the item. I'll NEVER order online or shop at their stores again. I took my golden doodle in for grooming today and had the worse experience and then they refused to groom him. He has been to this location 2 other times in the past year with no problem. But, today the groomer decided she could not groom him. We have had this appointment for weeks! She accused him of snapping at her and said it was on camera. I asked the manager to show me proof of this and he said they don't have cameras. I will never take my dog back to this Petco and never buy products from this store. read more

This review is for grooming services. Overall, as Middletown residents, you can beat the convenience factor for location. Our big golden doodle doesn't mind going, but we always ask for Nicole. Sometimes he is more matted than others so we adjust the type of cut he gets. It is shorter than my preference sometimes but this to be expected for his type of fur. It's not cheap to groom such a big dog and they do a nice job with cleaning and cut. As long as I feel like my boy is safe, clean and happy after grooming, I will continue to be a customer. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I have taken my dogs here a few times for a groom. I usually use some of the local kennels but they were booked far out and my cocker desperately needed a haircut. My expectations were fairly modest but actually we have had great experiences every time we have gone. The groomers have been friendly and good with my dogs and the cuts have been as I requested. I really have no complaints about their services. I will continue to use because they are convenient to schedule and close to my home. read more

I called this establishment and spoke with one of the groomers Hayley, I believe is her name. I asked specifically about coming in today to have my dogs nails trimmed and if I needed to make an appointment. She stated that I could just walk in. Perfect, so I thought. I drove over and brought my dog in. Two women were at the front desk of the grooming station. One looked like she either had a drug problem or was getting over one and the other lady was just as useless because as it turns out, after staring at their computer screen for a minute, there was no one to trim my dogs nails. They both looked at me and told me their manager was on lunch and apparently she was the only one who could trim nails and " could not be called away". They asked if I could wait 10-15 min. Um, no. I have a schedule too. That is the reason I called and asked my questions so I could work this out. Apparently zombies are what you deal with when patronizing this establishment. Silver lining is that I really wouldn't want people like this to trim my dogs nails. So it worked out! read more
