I was there on Sunday around 2:00pm. Not a single soul on the floor for customer service. The only person I saw was a cashier and he was on his cellphone. Acted like it was a bother when I asked him if they had an item and he was clueless about the store layout and spoke horribly (urban slang) Next time I will shop at PetSmart. read more

Made my appointment online. We got paired with Brandi M. Upon arrival we were greeted. I explained my dog's ailments. Such as her going blind in one eye and her nervous peeing, due to the abuse she experienced before we rescued her. Brandi was attentive to the information. I always ask groomers to call me 30 minutes before they are done, to give me time to travel back for pick up. I don't like to keep my dog waiting long, because I know she has a fear of the cages and other dogs. Upon arrival I was super shocked to see my cutie patootie walking around the floor, just as calm as you please. This is a doggo, who is usually shaking and peeing from being around the other animals. I was so impressed that I had to give a Brandi M. a bigger tip. Since the groomers I was using for years, is no longer working, I think we have found a great new person for our cutie pie. This was my first time sending my dog to this Petco groomer. She's also been to the one in Essex, where the groomers did a fantastic job. At the Timonium petco, what was supposed to be a two hour appointment took almost three hours, with no explanation for the delay. I picked her up, and she smelled better and her haircut looked great. But, that quickly faded away, and merely one day later, my dog was smelling stinky again. I'm not sure if they didn't do a thorough job cleaning her or let her play with other dogs while waiting for her cut, but she smells like "dog" - aka not good. I can wash her at home and get her to smell better for a longer period of time than what they did at Petco in Timonium. Will do that, or drive all the way out to Timonium again. read more

This location just saved me from some serious issues. My pup miss-placed her favorite toy that she has been sleeping with for about 3 years. After searching everywhere I could online and at multiple different pet stores, I remembered that I originally got the toy years ago at Petco. Came to this location and everything was organized and located where it was prior, and I was able to find the same exact toy for sale. I bought two just in case this happens again. There are Petcos and then there is THIS Petco! We recently adopted a dog from a local shelter and started having trouble with our new family member. Hired a dog whisperer, talked to a few experienced dog owners and received numerous tips.... our little guy (and us!) still needed some help, so, we went to Petco on York Rd to get some supplies and met Frank, the store manager. Frank's been a life savior - we asked for advice on the type of collar and received so much more - he assessed our dog and gave tips, shared ideas, tricks and even practiced some things with us (and our pooch) right in the store. Frank covered it all - from dog training tips to food choice, collars, leashes, behavior traits of our particular dog bread..... He took the time and explained, reassured, provided invaluable advice which we've been practicing for the past 2 days and our dog is a different animal. We had a ton of questions and not for a second did we feel rushed. Frank and another employee even demonstrated how to handle a particular behavior, which Sasha (our dog) responded to so well and we now have a new level of confidence to introduce him to people. And yes - that was just a regular Petco visit! I've been a pet owner for the past 20 years - currently we have a 14 year old cat and a 6 year old dachshund, and I've been to a few Petcos over the years, but without doubt the York Rd. Petco is not your usual Petco. There you are guaranteed to get an honest opinion, patient advice and so much more. Re. their grooming service: Sasha (our dog) got his nails trimmed/filed there a couple of times and the grooming center staff's been simply amazing as well (and Sasha is not an easy dog to handle).... Gave that groomers here 2 shots with my pups and they blew it. 1. They failed to mention the incremental costs of a treatment adding over $100 to the bill 2. Inconsistent with paperwork requirements resulting in canceling a cut for my dogs when I was out of my way and in the store. Safe to say that they lost my business. read more

So, I decided to travel from Owings Mills to this location in search of new fish. Needless to say, we were greeted when we first entered and that's it. We spent 20 minutes waiting for a sale's rep which never came back. He was also working the cashier position. I was disappointed as there were fish I wanted. I would not recommend this location. Manager has real bad attitude problems and was not impressed with their grooming service. My friend has been going there for years so I trusted them but my 3rd visit turned into shit show. My 4 months Corgi has relatively short hair but on the bill I got charged for long hair, when I made the appointment I know for a fact that I chose short so why the change? This was not a good start. All the nails weren't even buffed to smooth, pieces of nails are still hanging on. Some of them were buffed too close I could see her raw quick, not to mention groomer even forgot to do one of her paws! It's like everything was rushed because she wanted to leave asap. I called and they said if I came back before 3pm she should be able to finish her job. It took me literally 5 mins and when I got back groomer had already left and was done by different groomer. Wtf!? If this is how they treat customer and our beloved pet I can't imagine what goes on behind the scene... Explains a lot why my dog always looks terrified and completely exhausted! Don't put your beloved family member through this misery. read more

Tim is a polite, professional, and just plain nice young man! He is awesome with my spunky 8 month old standard poodle. Many groomers tried to "talk me into" a fufu poodle pompadour or cuff links... no thank you. I like a short clip same length all over and working with Tim I get just what I ask for, very neat, and no surprises. Tim is very gentle and encouraging with my pup, and so my young dog has grown to accept grooming as part of his living routine. When I pick up my dog he looks and smells wonderful! I am so glad I found Tim, thank you. Petco you are lucky to have such special young man as your employee! read more

Chris, the groomer at the Petco in Lutherville is outstanding. He gave my wiggly puppy an excellent haircut! He followed through on every single detail of the way I wanted my puppy trimmed. He was glad to see us, as well as very professional, and very skilled as a groomer. He explained exactly what he would be doing to my puppy and I felt comfortable leaving my puppy with him! Just took the dogs to the grooming salon for their usual cuts and baths. Jamie the groomer greeted my dogs with a smile and a welcoming disposition. The dogs love seeing her and comfortable around her. When we picked them up we were so happy with how their groom turned out. Their hair is so soft and fluffy and they smell fantastic! I've gone into this location on many of occasions for my now 5 month old puppy. Today my husband and I decided to get our pups nail trimmed in the grooming department. Upon waking in the staff was friendly and she asked if we wanted the nails clipped or filled down. I asked her which one would cause the less amount of pain on our dog. She explained that neither one caused pain and she proceeded to come behind the counter and examine our dog's nails. She suggested we just clip them and we took her advice and agreed. Our dog was calm upon clipping the first few nails in which we witnessed him yelp and cry out while squirming on her next clip. She grabbed what she called "powder" to put onto our dog's nail that at this time she said was bleeding. I saw the discomfort in our dog's face. So I asked her was he in any pain by this and she said no he was just scared. This didn't ease my mind at all because knowing our puppy he was in some level of pain and discomfort. He settled down and she proceeded to clip the others. He was again calm and waging his tail until she got to the last few on his back paw. She clipped a nail and he again let out a loud yelp and fry followed by some squirming. She began to rub him and even brush him afterwards (I'm guessing to alleviate any negativity my husband and I were having towards the experience ). She put a little more " powder" onto his bleeding nail before realizing our pup back to us. Upon coming home we realized our pup's nails were still just as sharp as before. They were pointed before the trimming and by simple just cutting them, the groomer allowed for the sharp corners off the now square shape nail to be exposed. We will now have to take him to get his nails filled properly. I will not be returning my pup to this location at all for any grooming needs. read more

It was our first time going to Petco and I was very impressed! Chris was so patient with my small mix breed. She takes no a while to warm up to people but he took good care of her and gave her the cut I asked for. This was four stars because they missed a nail but I called and they told me I could come in immediately and the time would fix it. I came in within the hour and they clipped it quick and it took longer to park than it did for them to clip her nail. Sandy can't wait to go back! read more

I just came home after shopping at Petco. After finding what I needed a nice store employee ask me I found everything okay and greeted my dog with a smile. When I went to the front of the store to check out no one was at the register, I saw an employee putting things on the shelf. I had to ask her what lane was open, rudely she tells me and very slowly came to the register, no greeting, no smile, no anything. I ask if she was alright and she actually told me she has no emotions and she does not smile. I've had bad customer service before, but never anything so depressing. The bad totally out weighed the good. I will never return to that Petco. read more

Just bought my first Guinea pig here last weekend. The girl who let me hold him took me down the aisles and pointed out everything that was essential for his diet and some of the changes I would notice as he got older. She definitely knew what she was talking about and they were stocked up on an endless variety of food, toys, accessories, and treats. I also walked around and just looked at the other animal aisles out of curiosity and they have everything you can think of for any pet you might have. I even watched a family bring in a rowdy dog and they immediately had someone come out who got him to quiet down and worked with him and the family through some training. It was actually pretty cool. Overall, the customer service was great and I'm excited to stock up on different things for my piggy to get himself into when I'm not home. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves their pet! read more
