had a very disappointing experience with the Petco Veterinary Clinic in Kendall. I purchased three wellness packages for my dogs. After two of my dogs were adopted, I called on August 8 to request a refund for the two unused packages because a staff member had previously told me that I would be able to receive a refund. I never received a call back, email, or any follow-up regarding my request. When I called again to follow up, I was told that I was not eligible for a refund and that everything was stated on the website. There was no apology, no courtesy, and no attempt to help or explain why I had originally been given different information. The customer service was completely unacceptable. I feel like I was misled and that they only care about taking your money. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location to other pet owners. read more

This was the most sorry excuse for 'customer service' ive ever seen.. I've already posted my review with details and picture of receipt with address and names on Google for this location. To start your employee by the name of Natalia has zero business being in a customer facing position. She has a condescending attitude from start to finish, speaking and repeating things to me like i was a child. This person had no intention of doing her job and that was to actually give our dog a haircut. Our dog is less than 5 months old.. the most passive sweet little dog... under 10 pounds... that you will ever see. We had a appointment for noon on Sunday at the Kendall Petco location. With a very condescending attitude she tried to explain that the dog "may freak out" and that they would only be able to do a face feet and fanny as they call it... and oh yeah, this will take them 3 to 4 hours !!!! I was shocked... but thought this may actually be something this place does to get people out of the store.. and there's no place for people to sit and wait if they had to. There was exactly 1 other dog there getting service and by the time I left the store that dog was already out. 2 hours later, my wife called the store and they young lady (with a short attitude again) stated that all they had done was give the dog a bath... which we were not even there for. Let me say that again 2 Hours and all they did was give a dog under 10 pounds a bath!! My wife at that point was in fear for our dogs safety as this person was sounding like she was purposely mishandling us as customers. Another hour and a half later I get a call that the dog was ready for pick up. If you're following along 3.5 hours have passed now. I get there and another lady gives me my paper to go pay and "Natalia" the one that has been handling our dog says in a loud voice as if she was mocking us... that the dog only got face feet and fanny!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! My only reaction was to laugh because what else could I do?!! I go to pay at the front and ask the guy on register who the store manager was. The young man in a low voice said "the guy behind me" and pointed at a guy on the next register. I saw he was busy so I walked over and asked if he was the manager he said yes, i asked him for his business card and he said he doesn't have any... so I asked how do I reach him since I see he was busy... he said there's a number on the top of your receipt as if he wasn't giving me a way to communicate with him. I asked what his name was he said "Andres"... and i asked for his last name.. he said he doesn't give out his information.. so I asked again.. and you're the store manager ?? He said yes and I walked out. This guy was doing his best to wipe his hands and everything else to not use a stronger word, and not deal with any issue i may have had. No wonder his staff is also the same way. I already posted on Google, now here and will post in as many places as i can to show the public what kind of customer experience to expect here. I have spent a LOT of money at Petco. I can guarantee you will never see me or my family in there again and will now go out of my way to get the word out. Yesterday I took my dog for a hair trim and bath. Accidentally he poop on the floor. The manager I think her name is Stephanie was not she pleasant; she made me clean his pooping. I had been in vet offices never ever had they make me clean my dogs poop. For the money I paid $ 70.00, the store manager should train better their employees. We brought our 2-1/2 year old golden doodle to this Petco for a bath and face, nail and privates trim. Although we live close by, it was our first time using the grooming services at Petco. We dropped our doodle, Toby, off at the appointed time and our groomer, Marck, told us he would be ready in about 3 hours and we would receive a call to pick him up. I received a call in about 2 hours and made my way to the store. When I arrived, Toby wasn't ready and I waited about 15 minutes for completion of service. It was busy in the waiting area with several dogs coming and going for appointments. When our pet was finished, Marco brought him out for a quick review. Toby was anxious to leave the crowded space, and broke free and ran out of the grooming waiting area into the general store. I caught up to him, re collared him and brought him back to the waiting area. Marck and I did a quick review and all appeared ok. Later at home, I noticed an area above his nose near his right eye was shaved close to the skin and was pink in color. I noted no other issue at that time. The next morning, when Toby woke to go out, we noticed his right eye was partially closed and there was puss under the eye. We called our Vet and were told to bring Toby in for an exam. The exam determined the cornea of his right eye was scratched and the eye would require several rounds of prescription eyedrops as well as Toby wearing a cone for two weeks. We were extremely upset by this situation and the fact that there was no mention of a shaving issue when I picked up Toby. We called the store and were told the general manager would call is back. After waiting 2 hours we decided to go to talk to the GM. Our biggest concern was that he was aware of the situation so it didn't happen again to another pet, We will not use this grooming service again and warn others to be vigilant when picking up and inspecting their pets. read more

I took my puppy to get groomed by Stephanie (the manager) & I really regret it. When I got my dog he was acting very somber I could tell something wasn't right. His testicles were BRIGHT red, swollen & looked like razor burned & his nails on one foot looked like they were hurting him. I have gone there in the past with no issue but never again. I tried calling this store on April 2 just to inquire if they carried a type of canned dog food I needed for my 2 dogs. They put me on hold and left me there so I hung up and tried calling again, the same thing occurred and on another attempt I was disconnected. I ended up having to get in my car and drive to the store. Upon arrival I found 2 salespeople standing around talking, I felt as if I was disturbing them with my question, to make matters worse they didn't have any of that particular type left on the shelves. Update: We received the forms back from the vet last night. He lied all over them. He never asked us how our dog was eating, activity level, etc., but said in the form that everything was normal. He never took vitals either. The firm said we refused to allow him to restrain the dog or muzzle. We refused a muzzle. We never said that he couldn't restrain our other dog -- we told him to hold him another way so he wouldn't squirm. We also offered to help to make it go smoother. We never refused to pay -- he refused service and didn't revise our bill. So the vet is a liar on top of incompetent. RUN!! ------ We had the WORST experience ever here! We went for vaccinations and they didn't even have the right equipment to administer them (and told us to go shopping for it)! The "vet" couldn't find a vein on my first dog to draw blood, so he blew the whole thing off and gave him some vaccinations anyway. Then he refused to treat my other (extremely docile) dog because HE couldn't hold him the right way, and WE wouldn't let the dog be muzzled. (Our dog is a rescue and doesn't like the be held over his back, and needs to be held from underneath or he will squirm, never bite.) The vet tech was too scared to perform the basic functions of his job and took extra long for everything, creating a huge line. We also watched the vet fail to properly administer two other puppies' oral meds, and he gave the syringe to the poor owner to do it herself. And not so "low cost" either. It was going to be $317 for two dogs for basic vaccinations and six months of heart medicine (not even a rabies tag or license). Best of all, the store manager said that "he couldn't argue with the vet" -- even after he had heard how horrible the service was and the kind of treatment we were getting. So we left with one dog sort of vaccinated and none for the second. AND the clinic never completed our first dog's medical records, so we don't even know what shots he really got. You are better off going ANYWHERE to get your dog vaccinated! Run away!!! read more

Took my kids here to get a ferret, but when I asked this lady with knee pads pushing around a shelf cart, she told me they don't open the cage for people, so I asked her how do I get one? And she said we just put it in a box for you... I said obviously, but how does one know if the animal even likes you or you like it? She told me if I had a problem to call for the manager. Stick to local shops that care about their customers or go elsewhere. The Petco in Port St Lucie will open the cages for you lol. read more

I left a long review yesterday detailing my experience and it seems Petco erases their negative reviews. Beware of leaving your dog with Stephanie M. She almost drowned my small pomeranian. My dog inhaled a bit of water while she bathed her and had to be taken to vet for concerns of aspiration pneumonia. When i picked her up she had discharge coming from her nose and was sneezing and making a hacking noise. I left her perfectly healthy and now i have a sick dog. Giving them one starbecause 0 is not an option. After years of shopping at this store I will never buy from them or any Petco again. I have been feeding my dog Fresh Pet for over 6 years. The bags I bought this last time, however, are having an issue. After about 3-4 days the food is spoiling. These bags normally last 7-8 days. I called for a refund, and the store will not provide one, because the bags are less than 80% full. Clearly, Petco does not stand by its products and thinks it's not an issue that their customers are losing money. As if that's not enough, the "I don't give a damn" attitude I received from both employees I talked to just adds insult to injury. Never again. This review is specifically about Petco's training program. The store itself is fine; it's exactly what you'd expect of a Petco. We're now 3 weeks into a 6 week program, and I am extremely pleased with Petco's dog training classes. The classes are small and affordable: max 3 dogs per class and around $100 for the six weeks. Dogs displaying aggression or who are unruly will be directed to private classes, so you don't have to worry about the safety of your dog during class. We adopted a new dog last summer, and he has had some mild behavioral issues: not consistently coming when called, tugging on his leash, getting too excited when we pass another dog. This class has helped us get him to follow several basic commands that will be useful in directing him toward productive behaviors. It's a controlled environment, so it's been much easier to train him here than at home. Once he learns the commands here, he follows them beautifully at home. The trainer, Janeth, is great. It was important to me to take my dog to a program that uses reward and praise rather than fear and punishment; Petco has surpassed my expectations in that regard. Janeth has showed us how to set my dog up for success so that he learns more easily and in a positive environment. If your dog could benefit from training, I highly recommend Petco's program. The first time I visited this Petco grooming location the employee was super rude and condescending. I wish I would've gotten her name. It was the woman working at 4pm on June 19th. Absolutely horrible. I rescheduled the appointment to try to get taken care of by someone else and decided to just not go back. I swore to never go back to this location again but this month I decided to give it another chance since I needed a last minute service. Stephanie at the check-in desk was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond for my two puppies. Angie, the stylist, left them looking adorable. If I come back I'm going to make sure it's a day that Stephanie is working. Had a very bad experience with Ari' and Stephanie, yesterday at the Kendall store, grooming salon. This was our first visit to this salon, but have been to another store closer to home, two times previously. When we arrived we were told that we would charged $15 extra because we weren't cutting his hair short enough. (?) ok. We hesitantly agreed and he stayed for his appointment. When we picked him up, we were told by Stephanie ( the supervisor, super snide and condescending) that he has been "reactive" to the face trim and the hair dryer and that next time he was groomed we would charged based on his behavior. And just who would decide his behavior? We aren't allowed to stay. Them? Just so they can charge more, I am sure. Billy is a 8 month old adopted puppy who has been groomed a total of 3 times now, this being his first time (and last time) with this store. This to me is unacceptable, if you do not know how to handle a puppy, you shouldn't be a groomer. Of course, all of this is told to me after I had already paid and tipped, because the outcome would have been quite different had I been spoken to prior to paying. Apparently my dog is now too fancy for grass and has developed a skin allergy as a result of such. I came here to buy a new bed and checkout the vitamins I could use to help soothe the pup and ended up walking out with treats, flea collar, bed, and dog toothpaste. I really liked that I could bring the dog inside so it could pick the treats for the month. They've got stuff for all pets and always are willing to help answer any questions. It's so spacious in there and the variety is endless which can also be dangerous. Plenty of animals are on restrictive diets so buying their food here makes sense because they stock so many options and sizes. Pay attention to their sales because certain stuff was on clearance and came in handy. They also have an affordable pet grooming service inside. read more

My brother noticed that the scale for the cookies he was weighing for me already started off at .17 lbs and he charged me $11.59 for itesally 9 cookies. Not only that, he saw that I was carrying 10 items and he didn't offer me a bag for .10cents. I didn't even know they charged for the bag until after he completed the transaction. I took my two dogs here for their vaccinations via the monthly Vetco services. I've been taking my dogs to Vetco for years all over Florida (I move a lot) and this was the smoothest it's ever gone. Typically we wait in line outside forever and it's crazy hot and people are able to easily cut in front of others. I got here 15min early and there was a lady in the front of the store checking everyone in. We waited for maybe 15 min before I got the text saying it was our turn to place our order, so to speak. We then met with a tech who entered my order into the system. Then about another 5-10min wait for the vet to finish the dog in front of us. My dogs were terrified and a bit difficult but the associates were very friendly and patient. All in all, we were in and out in an hour and the prices can't be beat!! The store has a massive selection of pet supplies and treats and toys, too. We couldn't leave without picking up some fun stuff to soothe the pups after getting poked. read more

I've never had an issue with this store always clean, & organized. Now they recently remodeled & rearranged the store & it's so much better! Loves it! My daughter's Havanese puppy Boomer has been given VIP grooming and care from Ari, Stephanie and Carina since he was 6 months old. This team of amazing ladies have been superb and give our puppy the TLC he needs. Boomer looks forward to going for his bi-weekly grooming. I saw this morning that Petco was running an aquarium sale. A 75-gallon tank for less than a hundred bucks, including tax?! We set up the curbside delivery thing and it was ready just a short while later, right before the store was due to close. A young guy named Leo helped me get it into the car. While we struggled with it, I jokingly said, "leave it to me to make your shift complete by getting the biggest, heaviest tank you had." He laughed, shrugged, and said, "hey, it's my job! Brought my dog here for a hair cut appointment which was at 2pm. I gave specific directions not to touch his face because he gets anxious. I went to run errands and they advise me they would call me in 2 hours. I thought perfect! I came back around 6pm and my dog was not attended yet! When I asked about him there were two associates working on dogs and advised me when the dog is ready they will call me...i clearly interrupted her gossip session as she finished with "anyway..." a few moments later my dog was being attended and long behold they cut his hair super short and buzzed his face which I advised not to. When I got home I see blood on my white sheets. The lady who cut his hair cut him by the ear and by his hip. I will NEVER go there again! I adopted a five week old male kitten on 6/26 at petco. Adoption went smoothly, kitten was sleeping at the time of pick up and take home. As I was completing adoption paperwork, I was told the kitten had been neutered ( at FIVE weeks) by Miami dade animal services in doral, dewormed, and healthy. Later on that night I noticed the kitten was to itself in the corner meowing but a cry, not just a typical meow. He wasn't eating much and was malnourished from appearance but that I knew when adopting because you could see skin and bones. The next morning he started drooling excessively and stopped walking around. He stayed in the corner drooling, meowing, and lethargic. I rushed him to the vet ED and was told not only did he have worms but he has an infection from the neuter surgery and is in so much pain that he's drooling. His private area is covered in bruises. He is now on a strong antibiotic, pain killers and dewormer. He had fever of 103.5 yesterday and again today and is now being admitted. Petco should have some form of vitals when the pets come in to their store to be adopted. There should be some baseline and not just word of mouth from the animal shelter that the pet is healthy. I am writing my review for the next future cat adopters- PLEASE choose wisely. I love my kitten and I'm glad I get to be the one to save him but he was in so much pain and if I wouldn't have taken him, would they have known he was spiking a high fever and is was intense pain?! read more

i love shopping at this petco so much that i decided to try out the groomers since i have yet to find one for my small pup. however, this place isn't it either. the staff is great for everything but the hair cut. they don't touch the face of the pet which also means that if they got stray hairs coming out from their face they will not touch it... i would at least expect them to blend where the neck would meet the head but they didn't even do that and trust me it's visible. do they know how to cut a dogs hair? yes but they are not professionals. read more
