Their grooming service has been going downhill steadily. We are now DONE! We have 3 dogs. Dog 1 - they cut her a bit short at her last appointment. We said "meh". We'll be careful next time we drop her off with our instructions. Dog 2 - 15 years old. Has NEVER had matter hair. They said she was matted up and shaved her down to her tail. She looked like a rat. Dog 3 - last appointment they got water on his ears. Had to go to vet to get it cleared it up. Then, the next visit (today) they said he was matted (even though we brush him regularly) and had to be shaved. Then, they cut his neck and said it was on old scab. They stopped his groom and had us come get him. On top of all that, when you book online, it shows one price. But when you pick up your dog they rack on a $7 service fee that they can't explain. read more

Poor customer service and dishonest. The store supervisor told me he had other things to do than to address my concerns. The groomer consistently uses matting as an excuse for bad haircuts. I specifically asked for a teddy bear cut, instead all my Bichon's hair was shaved off. Reason? Matting! I decided to address the matter with he groomer which was pointless. There's a reason there's no customers in this store . Visited a couple days ago to check out doggie clothing/coats. Selection is decent if you have a chihuahua, if you have a dog over 25lbs there's not much here for you. There's literally no Christmas sales going on, everything is regular (over) priced. The kicker is that I passed SIX employees and not a single one spoke or offered assistance even though it was obvious I was searching for something. I made eye contact with every single employee and nada, nothing. There was one guy who worked there and he was doing dog training, he walked the dog down the aisle I was on and allowed the dog to shove its face up into my crotch and then pulled him away and walked on without a single "pardon me", "excuse me", nothing. I said hello to him and he couldn't even grunt back to me. I can't believe this store actually makes enough money to stay in business with this awful model and poor morale. read more

My German Shepherd puppy was groomed here by Nanci. She did a wonderful job. She also helped me find a new harness for him.

LOVE the grooming salon! They take such great care of my pets, between my two 60/70lb Labs to my two kitty cats. Their customer service is next level. They let me know if anything seems off and they give me great recommendations for stuff I can use at home to make sure my pets feel great during the Summer. Couldn't ask for a better place to go. This is our favorite pet store. They stock a large selection of dog foods, toys, harnesses, leashes treats and beds. The staff at this location are friendly and engage with the pets as well - not just the human customers. Our dog has short fur and we bathe him at home so the only grooming services we use are nail trim/buff and we've been very happy with the staff. Grooming can be stressful for many dogs so we just prefer to reduce the stress and handle the bathing at home. The only disappointing thing is that the grooming staff sometimes leaves early on the weekends (especially if they've been slow) so we have come by a couple of times and there's been no one in grooming to do a nail trim. The staff in the dog food section are very knowledgable about the products and can help you make a good choice. Petco supports local charities and I'm especially partial to this location as their charity is Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen - a local charity that does awesome work. We never pop into Petco without buying something to put into the donation bin. Other reviews mention bad experiences with grooming but since we don't use those services, I can't add anything to that - however, I always carefully inspect any place that is going to care for my pet (vet offices, boarding, etc) so would recommend to any responsible pet owner to do the same before simply dropping off a dog at any location. read more

I love this Petco location mostly because they have lots of small animals like bearded dragons, hamsters, turtles, fish, etc... they have great inventory too. I would definitely recommend price matching to Petco.com because the prices are so much more expensive in store. read more

Zero stars! Don't come here for grooming! They did the worst job on my 2 yorkies! Uneven cuts, hair sprouts on their legs, hair in their ears, bad breath, etc. You know the clean fresh smell you get after your puppy gets groomed? You won't get it here? Come on in if you want to blow $60 on the make your dog look homeless spa treatment. Attitude from the manager when you complain is free. I've taken our dog to many groomers to help with nail trimming. Even our vet couldn't handle trimming our dogs nails! The groomers at the Milton Petco store have been amazing and trim his nails with no issue. They are loving to him and take such great care. When I pick him up, his coat is shiny and they send us home with treats. We are so grateful for this grooming staff!! Can't say enough good things... read more

This was our first and last time to ever subject our dog to grooming at this store. It was easy to schedule an appointment, and the employees were pleasant and listened to our instructions on what we wanted...a basic short cut, especially around his mouth, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and anal glands expressed. He was finished quickly, and when we got home we noticed several unsatisfactory things: the hair on his ears looked like they were never shampooed, he smelled dirty, the cut was terrible with long sprouts, his head was misshaped and looks ridiculous, his hind end has bare patches where he was cut through to the skin. BUT the most alarming fact was he shook and quivered for several hours. He was very lethargic and slept for the next day. He appeared to have been tranquilized! He has been groomed in several different salons in FL and GA, and it has always been a happy experience. read more

They have been really great in assisting me with the fish selection while re starting my new tank, and i absolutely love the snack bar set up of of the per pound cookies/snacks and raw hide. I have always seen smiling faces and offers of assistance, and while not always needed, its nice to be asked :) So thank you Alpharetta Pet Co for having good employees and a clean store! Great selection of pet food and pet toys. The Pals Rewards Membership (free of charge) offers savings toward future purchases. The only thing I wish they carried is cat grass seeds. Although they do sell "live" grass in small containers, I prefer to grow my own for my precious fur-baby! read more

Chris the cashier was super rude. Breathing hard and smacking lips. When I asked him to get the Manager, he said she can't see you she's on a conference call! I came yesterday and Greg was very helpful and awesome. He explained they were getting a shipment in and for me to come back today. The location is not the easiest to spot. Though it's not far off of HWY 9 the layout of the shops makes it difficult to catch your eye because there are rows of stores in the parking area in front of some of the main buildings. But overall it's a little above standard of the average Petco. They had a lot of gourmet and organic varieties of food for both cats & dogs. The place was very clean which was really nice. It didn't have that overwhelming "pet" smell like some of them do. So they get high marks for variety but I had a hard time finding someone to help me. Of course it was during the week, but you would think for such a large store they would have more help. Overall a good experience for me and my "Baby". read more

The grooming service is excellent. Also, the groomers are opened earlier on Sunday than the listed store hours (call for appointment).

The last two trips to this Petco have been wonderful. Today, a manager named Jason helped me get an item off a tall shelf and carried it up front for me. He was very knowledgeable about the products and was so very friendly. Last week, a lovely employee named Paula helped me get the dog food we needed as my husband was rushing to get there before they closed. Until now, I have teetered between pet stores, but I am now committed to choosing this location for my pet care needs, as we have several feathery, furry, and scaly friends. We live in Woodstock, but planned to meet my mother in law in Alpharetta to see a movie. We decided to take our two babies to get washed and their nails trimmed. The young lady, Andrea that took care of our girls did such an amazing job. They usually are very scared to get baths and she made them feel comfortable immediately. They look so shiny and pretty!!! From now on this is where we take our babies!! Totally worth the drive to have quality people care for our fur-babies!! read more

UPDATE: 12/3/17 I went into the store and met with Mark, the new Store Leader (he took over the store end of Oct). He said that he watched the footage of the grooming area within the store, to determine a) who actually groomed my dog [ANDREA,do not use her] b) when she was cut (this could not be determined as the camera angle was on the dog's right, and the cut was on her left side) and c) if she was, as accused, AGGRESSIVE, to which he CONFIRMED that she did not show any signs of aggression during her stay/groom. Mark refunded us the groom, which oddly enough was only $24.00, NOT the usual $59.00. The groomer responsible, Andrea, had the audacity to put in my dogs account that she was "aggressive and anxious" during the 10/9/17 groom, which the camera footage contradicts. Her report was so detailed that she even stated that my dogs anxiety is cause for a VET to groom her. Which is absurd! So, now, since Shannon is gone (she was great), the only person left is a sweet older Asian man who unfortunately, because of her so-called "aggression," refuses to and will NOT groom her so I am now forced to take her someone else. This is very saddening because the person responsible for the injury is still employed, has tarnished my dogs name/reputation with this store, and I am left with no choice but to find a new place for grooming. I am extremely displeased with this whole situation and feel that nothing positive, for my dog, came of it. I do not recommend this store for grooming, especially not with Andrea! read more

The groomers that I dealt with were extremely unprofessional and did not care whether or not the dogs that were under their care were comfortable and safe. I saw three groomers total and two dogs on the grooming table. One groomer was attending to one dog, the second groomer was attending to the other dog And the third groomer was just hanging around talking with them. I watched as one of the groomers that had a dog, walk away from the table while the dog was on top of it with the metal collar that is attached to the grooming table around it's neck. She left the dog Completely alone and unattended for more than five minutes while she walked over to the other table where another dog was being groomed and all three of these women just started to take pictures with this dog. They took turns taking taking photos of each other with someone's dog that was supposed to be getting groomed! The dog that they were taking photos with was noticeably anxious, uncomfortable and he was panting like crazy well he was shifting around trying to move away from these strangers that had their face right up next to Hess. After they finish taking pictures they separated again and went back to grooming each of their dogs again. I then saw one woman repeatedly scrape the razor down the anxious dogs body and it was so obvious that she was giving him razor burn all over. She never offered him water and she never slow down at all she just seemed like she didn't care at all whether this dog was in pain and scared! It was horrifying to witness and when I spoke up to one of the employees that was inside the store he just totally brushed it off and went about his business.I don't recommend you take your dog there especially if you're going to be dropping him or her off. read more

My favorite Petco in the area (and I have been to them all). The staff are wonderful and knowledgable. They can answer your questions on almost any subject from making food recommendations to help with training (See Ashley or Cedric, they are both really good with training). Their groomers on staff are FABULOUS, always so friendly and do a really good job. If you ever go in there on a Friday or Saturday you will see how good and busy their groomers are. Ask for Angela as a groomer, she is very sweet and loves dogs (and a good groomer). read more
