Dear Petco Customer Relations Team, On March 31, 2026, I visited the Petco store in Nashua, NH to return a cockatiel I purchased about 15 days earlier, within the 30-day return policy. At the register, the cashier called Manager Sarah, and General Manager Nick also came over. Both confronted me in front of other customers, stating I cause them stress and that they would refuse to sell me pets in the future. The cockatiel showed ongoing aggression and did not bond with my family despite consistent effort, so I believed returning him was the responsible choice. I was also concerned about his prior care and enrichment. Although the refund was processed, the public and accusatory interaction left me feeling humiliated and unwelcome. This has significantly impacted my trust in Petco. I request this incident be reviewed and documented, and I would appreciate a written response confirming receipt of my complaint. So apparently they can just make up bad information about you pet while grooming, put it in their system which then blacklists you from all petco grooming sites if they don't like you or don't want to service you. These notes are intentionally kept a secret from you after the fact so as to screw you over next time you try to book an appointment. This popped up when I was trying to book an appointment for my dog which is less than 20lbs, and has never hurt anyone or another dog nor shown any signs of doing so. They accused him of being a biter and said they'd still do the service but stop and keep the money if he did bite at them. Again - this dog has always been friendly towards people. We train and socialize him well. He's never bitten anybody or been aggressive towards other dogs or humans. He flops down belly up for strangers when they visit. There is also a public database for dog biters you can look up. They accuse him of biting at another location, DONT TELL US and then say "eh we'll maybe service you now". It's a scam that they employ to just want to take your money for no work. If there really was a problem last time, why not tell us? Is there any verification of it happening, and additionally if you claim it happens again now how would anybody even be able to prove it? It's clearly something they do to steal your money. Everyone is friendly and helpful from the store manager to the cashiers. My dogs love getting their spa days because they are spoiled. Everyone there adores animals and it shows. They also act swiftly and responsibly. There was a small incident with one of my dogs at her last grooming appointment. The employees went into a totally different mode. They stopped the session, called me, met me at the vet, kept my baby with them, saw her through her treatment, paid for everything, comped the grooming, gave me a harness that wouldn't irritate the boo-boo, and are finishing her grooming (for free) as we speak. I don't hear much of that these days when I see reviews of any groomer; chain or private. They were completely transparent. I am completely confident in the Nashua crew and the Saugus VetCo crew who all take wonderful care of my girls. read more

Don't use these people-they drugged my dog. I picked her up and noticed how out of it he was. They claim they never do, but it was so obvious. (Sweet, passive golden) he came home with a cut. Worst grooming experience ever. read more

It is so interesting how different Petco stores can be from each other. The Amherst location is fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced. The Nashua location does have friendly staff members (except for the Store Manager, I won't name the name here, but customer service sure knows), but they really aren't knowledgeable about dogs. The experience we had was abysmal and I had to call headquarters as a result: We had an appointment for grooming and I let them know my dog has tremors (totally non-harmless, not a seizure, and does not require vet attention - those were words from his veterinarian), and they denied us service even though we have been to Petco for all of our grooming/pet needs for YEARS. I offered to stay in store for the entire appointment, too. I'll still go to Amherst to purchase products and such, but I'll never step foot in Nashua again - I hope you don't either. read more

I had to come back and leave a review because I was anxious about scheduling grooming services here for my dog due to the reviews but they were actually wonderful! I just moved and was having difficulty finding a local groomer with appointments available. Some were out 3 months! My 12 year old lab is spirited to say the least. She can also be skittish, especially around new people and blow dryers. The groomer, Lucas, was so friendly and made my dog feel welcomed and comfortable. I got a full report about how my dog did during her appointment. Lucas was on time and called for me to pick up my dog at about the 2.5 hour mark as promised. My dogs nails looked great and she smelled wonderful for the 10 minutes before she decided to roll in dirt outside! Will definitely be scheduling grooming services here again! read more

I took my dog to Petco Nashua NH . When we came to pick her up and took her in the car, we noticed her breath was not fresh therefore assuming her teeth were not brushed. Also, when shampooed usually the smell of the shampoo is fragrant ,there was no smell to her fur and her nails were very long so basically she received a hair cut. read more

I will never bring my dog back to Petco in Nashua. My wife made an appointment to get our dogs, nails, trimmed and buffed. We were asked if the dog required more than one groomer and we replied no. We have bringing her there to have her nails, trimmed and buffed. since we got her 2 1/2 years ago dropped her off and I was called within two minutes that she was done. When I to pick her up, nothing had been done and we were told that we had lied that she required more than one groomer and will be rated because she almost flipped the table on them. When I informed them that we been told that she needed a second groomer I was called a liar and told that with all the notes that were in the paperwork on her that there is no way that no one would have not spoken to us. They are very unprofessional, and when I asked to speak to a manager, I was given another high school employee who had no such credentials. Love this location's grooming department. We have had nothing but great experiences with them! They give my Winnie baths and nail trims mostly because she's still a puppy and doesn't need a cut yet. But they trim her face and it always looks great when she's done! They know how to do a good puppy cut and uncover her eyes! read more

Edited to add: I was nervous to bring my pup back because he had a traumatic experience at a different groomer since moving. But wow! He dragged me right to the grooming counter at this Petco. The ladies here are his friends and he loves them. I will always schedule him here for a bath and haircut when I am in the area. I mean, just look at that smiling face. This time Anna washed him. He LOVES her. I recommend this Petco to anyone with a pup that needs a little extra love during grooming. read more

I went to Petco in South Nashua, NH to buy a large Petsafe Dog Door for my dog. It is $239.99 in the store, While in the store, I checked Amazon - the same exact on was door was $157. I found a clerk told and told him that there was a significant difference, he said if it is a legitimate store, he can price match. He then said Amazon is not a legitimate store. I ordered the door from Amazon while standing in the store. When I got home, I just at @Petco on line, the same door is $187.21. Had he even met me part way, or check ed on lone to see it was cheaper on your site, maybe I would have bought from the store. I then contacted Petco to inquire, and they confirmed they do not price match the internet. I asked about the reason their price on the internet was less and received a stock answer.... "Pricing differences between our stores and online may occur for a number of reasons. Our online prices are national and reflect the self-service nature of this shopping experience which may also be subject to shipping charges. Checked in for grooming and asked about doing a full cut on my bichon poo instead of the face and paws trim as we originally had planned. Stylist said no cause he's still a puppy (keep in mind the same stylist said yes the last time I talked to her). Said he was still a puppy and might get nervous. Understandable but his first groomer at PetSmart did a a full cut on him on 4 months and said he did perfectly fine and he only needed to be desensitized to people touching his paws. I Proceeded to check in him anyways. Told them the number they had on file was a house number and to call my cell. Had asked for a rough estimate time so he wouldn't be in the crate long since we're still crate training. She said 3 to 4 hours. PetSmart had taken 2 hours last time so I was in the area 2 hours after check in. After 3 hours and 15 min I headed to petco and walked around the store. At the 4 hour mark I finally asked the stylist who was working on him how much longer and she said who? The other stylist who checked me in said "the puppy." His stylist responds "oh he's been done for a while. We called you" keep in mind I had no missed calls. She proceeds to tell me she's been calling the house number I specifically told them not to call. The bath and sanitary trim was done in 75 min and him crated for an extra 2 hours and 45 min for no reason. Will be returning to PetSmart. read more

Had a 3pm appointment to get my dog groomed... the dog groomer decided to move my appointment without notice and leave early for the day because of the nice weather.... whatever that's fine enjoy the weather but please notify me that you are changing my appointment so I don't have to drive 30 minutes each way only to find out that you decided to leave early!! read more

Stood in the fish area for 15+ minutes waiting for assistance. The employee at the register paged for help two separate times many minutes apart (not her fault that she couldn't leave the register when every other employee apparently chose to actively ignore her pages) and we saw no sign that the message was being responded to or even received. I'm normally pretty patient but no signs of movement toward assistance after 15+ minutes and no communication is pretty absurd. Additional customers were starting to queue up in the fish area as well. Many tanks had fishes' corpses in them as well as numerous empty snail shells from dead snails left to sit in the tanks. The tanks here may appear "clean" but they don't seem to be healthy. Is this store severely understaffed as a result of the pandemic? Maybe they should reduce their hours as other businesses have been doing. I've never experienced such poor customer service at a Petco, at least not for as long as I can remember--but I'll certainly remember this one. read more

I usually take my dog to PetSmart in Chelmsford, MA for grooming, but I happened to be home for the holidays near Nashua and a coupon came in my email for $20 off grooming... anyway, I brought my dog here and a job that would take 3-4 hours at PetSmart ended up taking about 1.5 hours here or maybe even less. When I came to pick up my dog about 15 minutes after I received the call, the lady running the grooming area had already left with nobody else on shift. It was 4pm on a Friday. I could literally hear my dog crying from a kennel in the back from the middle of the store for 20 minutes straight while I waited for someone to help me. Finally, I found someone on the floor and asked for help for them to inform me that the lady grooming dogs was out for the day and to come back another time. I literally looked at them dead in the eye with like no other animal on me or next to me and was like... "I'm here to PICK UP my dog." So they went to find another employee taking about another 10 minutes to bring my dog out. Immediately as soon as the employee went in the back, you could hear the crying stop. My dog was the only dog back there in a cage by himself for who knows how long. He came out with bloodshot red eyes and was having a complete panic attack. I couldn't even get his leash on-- he wanted out. He didn't want anyone touching him. He was completely freaked out and was yanking me towards the exit and would not calm down until he left the building. I have never had him react this way before. I have taken him the groomer's and dropped him off at the vet several times in the past and he has never came out with an anxiety attack like this. They also did not brush him well at all since the package was supposed to include brushing. I had to brush him myself when I got home and SO MUCH FUR came off of him. It was like they didn't do it at all. Overall, was not pleased with how my dog was treated or the services. I still tipped for some reason. But I will be sticking to my usual groomer's from now on. read more

Petco insists they will not groom a cat unless they cut all of its nails. This might be fine for an indoor cat but it would leave an outdoor cat nearly defenseless. They don't tell you this anywhere on their site, but instead reference a "petco policy" that isn't posted anywhere. read more

In line to purchase two items I can not leave without when the cashiers start freaking out due to some system going down. The lack of professionalism was disgusting. The panic stricken employees were clobbered with fear and utter dismay it was hard to believe. As if they were untrained or simply unaware how to deal with alternative scenarios. The part that was most hard to deal with was conversations the employees had about the dilemma - as if no one but them were present. I've worked in customer service industries. It bothers me when customers are unnecessarily subjected to drama that could very well have been kept to themselves. Complete lack of professionalism and a dismal store atmosphere. read more

Don't bring your dogs here to get groomed! Made an appointment over two weeks ago. When we went at the scheduled time I booked, they told us "it would be 5 hours" until he was done..? I had been a groomer in the past, knowing full well, a bath, nails and a blow out for a husky does not take 5 hours, I was a little confused. We left, hoping it would be less time than they said, indeed, it was 5 hours until they called to have us pickup our dog. I'm sure they just had our dog sitting in a cage for who knows how long in the back until they could make time to even start the groom on him. We had an appointment, and they couldn't groom our dog at the time scheduled, that's very unprofessional. Understanding of course it's busy, but that made no sense for it to take 5 hours. We got there a few minutes after they called, waited for another 20 minutes until anyone came to the counter to bring our dog out. Like he hasn't been there long enough already. Even better. He was not even fully dried off, after a five hour process? His legs were still very wet and his neck. On top of it all, we get home and he drank his whole bowl of water like he was dying of thirst. He never does this. So this grooming salon does not give their dogs even a little water while they are there which is awful. 5 hours and you can't even have water bowls?! My problem is that he was probably in the back waiting for way too long not even being groomed, even with an appointment. So for five hours you don't even provide the dogs with water? Understandably maybe they don't want to give too much water so they don't have to pee, but even a little water to keep them hydrated. Come on. So dissatisfied and unhappy. We will be going elsewhere for grooming services. read more

No Biggie I called back no answer. I finally got to schedule another appointment for 9am. I got there at 850am no groomer in the building. I waited until 9am still no groomer. I was finally approached by a Petco employee that said sorry do you want me to take your number so she can call you when she gets here? I think hmmm... no thanks I will not be back. Don't waste your time not sure what is going on there but things have changed and definately no for the better. read more

I am only giving 1 star because I am not able to post with out doing so.. if I could I would rate 0 STARS 0/10. Terrible experience terrible customer service. Loyal customer who only uses petco grooming service and buys all dog food, toys, treats etc at the South nashua location. Scheduled an appointment 4 WEEKS AGO called to confirm appointment 30 minutes before appointment. When we get there we are told they cannot take our dog due to expired paperwork which would be fine if THEY HAD TOLD US BEFORE WE GOT THERE! They offer no solution other than rescheduling 4 weeks from now which is unacceptable. We have an infant at home and due to the current state of the world with covid 19 ut is difficult to get out of the house.WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING I DO NOT RECCOMEND SPENDING ANOTHER DOLLAR AT THIS LOACTION I WILL BE TELLING ALL OF MY NEIGHBORS AT TWIN PONDS to take their business ELSEWHERE this location does not value loyal customers. I buy a dog food that is sold online for the most part and only sometimes in stock at Walmart. With that being said, I forgot to order a new bag and realized there wasn't enough food to last until the new bag came in. After checking two different Walmart's and other pet stores, I finally called Petco in Nashua only for Gabby to tell me they did not sell that food, however she went out of her way to look up the ingredients so that she could find me a similar food to use as substitute until our regular food is deliVered!! I've loved shopping here for treats, food and potential animals they're always genuinely helpful with what I need and professional however in the last two months what a horrible experience with them! I've decided to get a ferret from them to find out she was sick at the time of the purchase I was not really familiar with sickness that ferrets can get but knowledgeable about there care, she came to me with a rash and missing hair on her stomach (Canine Distemper Signs) she was returned to the store because she wasn't eating; we wanted to know the status of her and they never called back, we gave them our number we didn't want her back she just wanted to know what was up! Two months later nothing so we moved on, never again will I shop there... I guarantee she was put to sleep, ferrets can't recover from distemper like dogs can, they guarantee distemper shots for there ferrets before they're sold so why did she come down with it? Marshall's ferrets are a mill and can forget shots or not do them at all, they're scums and they shouldn't be getting ferrets from them why not support a local breeder? Why not go get tree shots themselves? For $200 they should be offering a bit more then a paper from Marshall's ferrets stating they got there distemper! Both PETCO and Marshall's are scumbags! Don't ever buy any live animals from them! Research a breeder and get your animals from them not someone who buys from mills and lies about there animals! read more

My husband and I went to the Nashua, NH Petco location in search of items we needed for our puppy. The four interactions we had with staff members all exceeded our expectations of what great customer service should be. They all asked if we needed assistants, answered our questions and went above and beyond to share their knowledge with us, and seemed to be truly happy to be helping us out. This store has an amazing small animals+aquatics section, with some fish that all my other localpet stores lack. As soon as we got to the aquatic section we had someone to help us. I only looked at 5 tanks before we had tto go, but the selection was absolutely phenomenal. read more

This doesn't even deserve the one star I'm giving it. Their animals are sick, so please don't buy any from them, it will only cause heartbreak. I had one bearded dragon that I had for four years, and decided I wanted to get him a smaller one, so I could watch it grow and then let them interact when it was big enough. The older one was from a local pet store, and my small one was from PetCo. Not too long after I had brought the little guy home, I noticed he was very very sick.. I was sure he was going to die, but after a couple days of his condition not changing, I knew I had to bring him to the vet immediately. The vet examined him and told us that he had been pushing his organs out (it's pretty scary to walk into the room and find your little lizard laying there with his organs hanging out) because he had parasites and, like most reptiles, didn't show he was sick until it was too late. She assured me that it wasn't my fault, because my other dragon was healthy and I had had him for years without any problems, and she told me that he had to have had the parasites when he was at the pet store. Our only option was to put my dragon to sleep, and it was heartbreaking.. Also, their betta fish are sick. The longest I've ever had one live was two weeks. I've had many bettas over the years, and each one that came from a good pet store lived to be 3-4 years old. Most of my PetCo bettas lasted a few days. Last time I visited this store, it was a complete mess. There were boxes of who knows what everywhere, blocking the ends of the isles. It smelled horribly in there. I know animals can smell a bit, I have dogs, cats, fish, a praying mantis, rabbits, snails, and slugs, and birds myself, but the smell in there just smelled like neglect.. They squeeze way too many ferrets into a cage that is clearly too small, and I've seen rats stumbling over eachother and fighting because there wasn't enough space for them. I bought two budgies there once, one of them was surprisingly sweet, but he was sick and he died in my hands two days after we bought him. We went back for a refund, and to bring the other bird back to see the vet. They said we could call and check on her. I was very worried about her since her brother had just died. We kept calling to check on her multiple times every day, just to be told that the vet didn't see her yet. Finally, about 5 days later, the vet came in and prescribed her medication, and within a week we got to come pick her up, along with her other brother that was still alive and for sale. It broke my heart to know that my sweet little bird had died, and that his sick sister wasn't seen by a vet for 5 days. I was afraid that she was going to die too, from the vet taking their sweet time to get there, but miraculously she pulled through and is perfectly healthy now years later. It's so hard going into a store like this, because you want to take home all the animals and save them, but sadly that just puts money in PetCo's pockets, which they will use to buy more animals to neglect. So please, don't contribute to the problem, find a good, private owned local store (Like Fins and Feathers in Chelmsford, MA) and buy from them. read more
