I usually go to Port Orange location but this is closer so I decided to take my Chi for nails. The website states at all Petco to walk in for nail trims which was never an issue until this location. They at first told me I needed to make an appointment but I pointed out the website instructs us differently and won't allow it. They were not happy but took us in. The first appointment was done and a month later I was going to take him back and tried to call to make an appointment but was told to just bring him in. Again little upset when I answered no to appointment. lol. They brought him in and trimmed him. Got him home and noticed that half his nails were skipped. Actually one dewclaw was not done the last two times because I had to take him to the vet as it was close to the pad. This specific location needs some customer service training and to ensure they are cutting all the nails! My dog sits perfectly still while getting them done so it's not a problematic issue with the dog but with the staff. read more

There is no empathy from the staff - especially the manager. I wish I could remember her name - she was just plain rough to deal with. I came in with a script from my doctor that they had called about. If I can only get prescription dog food from the vet there, then why is it outside of the vet's office? Why was that not told to my vet that I had to talk to their vet? Along with that, their grooming staff was just plain rude when we had to deal with them. Detona Vetco's office demonstrated alarming negligence, leading to misdiagnosis and the tragic loss of my pet. Their cremation quote of $600 was outrageous, and the demand for immediate payment before euthanization was insensitive, especially considering my four-year loyalty. Additionally, they attempted to charge for an unnecessary examination visit and pushed for unnecessary treatments totaling thousands, despite a clear misdiagnosis. Their priorities seem to prioritize profit, exemplified by consistently recommending $180 lab tests and conducting exams outside the room. In contrast, VCA demonstrates genuine care for pets. VETCO has terrible customer service can NEVER see dog short notice when sick. They will never have my 4 dogs business again! What good is a vet if they can't see your dog when sick? Vets are only trying to sell off some products they may have too many of like powder for my dogs ears (not needed) after I had second opnion. They lie about things they have said and things they didnt say. They send you to a emergency hospital of their choice all though I went to my own and saved thousand of dollars. PETCO GROOMING - Dalmar, Tonya and Amanda are the sweetest. My mom's dog, Sadie, my two dogs, Bandit and Smokey all go there. Our dogs always looked pretty and well groomed after their appointments! I can always rely on them to take care of my dogs. It's not always guaranteed to get them in most crucial moments but I had been lucky and blessed enough when in need, they took care of them. Do NOT go to this location if you plan on buying a fish. You will be chastised by Sarah for your "inhumane" treatment of your current fish. We went in to get a bottom feeder for our fish tank (bc we were advised to do so after a month of having it). We told her what fish we had, which happened to include 2 feeder fish (that the other petco in Sanford had suggested starting out with to make sure our tank was sufficient) and a variety of tropical fish. The first thing out of that woman's mouth was "wellll first of alllll, I feel sorry for your fish ::smirks like we're dumb::...bc goldfish are cold water fish and the others are, well, tropical"....as if we were purposely acting with malice toward these goldfish, which is quite the opposite. Again, these are FEEDER fish, that we are actually keeping alive..as pets (but plan on rehoming bc we know they can get quite big and dirty)...and thriving..along with our other fish. Anywho, she then told the other employee to come tell us that she would not let us purchase a bottom feeder bc we had "too many fish already". So, we left, then my husband returned to tell her that he didn't appreciate her condescending tone and she rebuked with how she was just looking out for the fish bla bla bla... even though we were just trying to do the right thing bc we're new to this and this was our first time hearing any of this..to which we then proceeded to go back to our trusty pet supermarket where we bought our TROPICAL fish from and got our bottom feeder. This petco literally has the worst service ever. I just went to a petco out of state last week and the service was phenomenal. I decided to go to this one because the food my pets like was on sale. There was no greeting coming in. The blonde old lady cashiering was rude upon me getting to the register. There was a customer who's cart was literally touching my leg at check out. At most she was 2 feet from me. She coughed on me Purposely.... I don't wear a mask, my concern wasn't covid concerns it was lack of respect and personal space. I asked nicely for the unkind hag to back up please and she refused, saying it shouldn't bother me she since I'm clearly an anti masker . The cashier does nothing. I coughed because I choked on my drink a couple mins later and the cashier yelled at me saying she'll call the police for coughing on customers... I covered my mouth when I coughed unlike the other brat... Not to mention she called me a liar when I said the cat food was on sale and she tried over charging me had to walk to the back of the store and document it with her and she sighed and rolled her eyes at me. Then proceeded to help 2 OTHER customers while I waited on her at the register to pay!!!!!!! Told me my total was over 50. Asked for proof and she shows me screen and the total was in the 30s. Worst manager ever ! SARAH JEAN needs to fired I feel bad for the employees working there that have to deal with her on a daily basis ! I bought a Hampster from there 2 weeks ago as well as the cage and bedding and food everything from that store . The Hampster died so I called petco and talked to a associate they said they would exchange it with the receipt so I brought up the Hampster and receipt and SARAH JEAN the manager told me it was disturbing that it died in my care and would not exchange it for another one . I did nothing wrong they sold me a sick hampster and she was being very rude about it and also wanted to make the other employees feel stupid . The associate helping me told me it could of been from wet tail , Sara Jean Rudely corrected her and laughed at her and said no those Hampsters don't get wet tail . Making the other employees feel stupid in front of customers!!!!! My wife came in today to buy cat food and litter. She left without either because there was a sales rep from Blue there that kept hounding her and trying to sell her Blue food. We will shop somewhere else we won't be bothered by sales reps. Why can't store understand this? We know what we want, if we don't we will ask for help. Leave shoppers alone!! If you must have a sales rep there they should be confined to an information booth that you can avoid if you don't want to be bothered. Took my Husky there to be groomed, as I have many times before and they did fantastic job. However this time when I got her back she was still full of hair and she didn't smell any different. The process seemed to take much shorter of time than it usually did as well. They did also advise me ahead of time that they were short handed. So I really don't see how they got her done so much faster. So I looked at the back of my receipt and it clearly states 100% satisfied or your money back. ell I called the store left messages. I wrote to Petco with several emails also to corporate. No one I mean NO ONE ever responded to me. Terrible customer service from the top on down. Sad really, cause we also went there. 2nd time we've used this Petco for grooming our dog. We had dinner plans with our boss (we both work for the same employer) at 5pm. When we called Petco, They said "Bring Her Right In" which caused us to beleive that they were NOT busy. If so, we would have made an appointment for another time. When we dropped her off for the service, the woman there said she would be ready not later than 4pm. So we left her for the grooming figuring we would still make our dinner appointment. It took over 4 hours and it wasn't until AFTER 5pm that she was finished. Needless to say, We had to cancel our dinner plans with our boss seeing that we couldn't make the 35 minutes drive in time. If they told us they were busy and it could be awhile, we would have made an appointment for a later date. Now, in the future, we'll just make an appointment with SOMEONE ELSE!!! read more

This is your standard Petco. Fairly big and clean. Honestly, I prefer Petsmart, but I don't have one close to me, so I usually end up going here out of convenience. They carry all the well known pet food brands, including the holistic ones. I do think that they're food prices are slightly high (which is why I prefer Petsmart). They have a good selection of treats and toys. I've never tried the grooming service, but it is usually full of dogs every time I'm there. read more

The absolute WORST customer service - my husband wanted to adopt a rat (pet; not food) and the extremely cantankerous (even hostile) employee would not touch the rat nor would she allow my husband to. Her claim: "Rat bite fever. Too many lawsuits." She was terrible and frankly should not be working with animals. We adopted rats from them before, and the employees were wonderful. They allowed us to hold them (and our husky - who loves rats - was even allowed to sniff and check out her new siblings). None of the employees insisted on wearing special "rat gloves," but this particular blight of an employee was adamant that my husband could not even touch her! How would he possibly know her personality, temperament, or how she deals with being handled?!? Frankly, the woman should be fired or relegated to working with pet rocks. read more

The animal care in this location is okay, not remarkable, but okay. It's the management that makes me not want to shop here anymore. One manager is rude and condescending to employees while clearly not knowing what she's talking about. She stopped an employee doing a gravel vacuum and told them to just swirl the gravel around to kick up the mess for the filter. This is not only bad for the fish, it makes the tanks look dirtier for hours. Another manager, on a day I had to wait exceptionally long because of how understaffed the store is, went through an aisle an employee had just finished straightening up and started moving items to random spots. Then he called the employee over and started berating them for the items being out of place as the employee put them back where they already were before. Having seen this, it's no surprise employees don't stick around there very long. read more

We've been using Petco's Grooming Salon after a bad experience with another local groomer. Amanda has been awesome with our Yorkies, and Shepard. You can tell she really cares for the animals that come in there. The cuts always come out great, and I feel like attention is paid to the small details to make sure they are really well groomed. The associates in the store are always friendly, and the store is pretty well stocked. Over all I am really happy with the store, and their grooming salon. read more

I waited a week to decide on a new pet. I currently have dogs,cats, and fish. I have had snakes ,scorpions, frogs, and lizards in the past. I went in to purchase a skink. They said that my tank wasn't large /long enough. I told them I also had a 30 gallon and a 55 at home and I would just need to buy the lighting for them. The sales clerk asked me if I had any pictures of my tanks. I said no. Then we grabbed the tank they recommended. This was a 90 dollar tank for a 30 dollar animal. We had 3 sales people surround us and tell us the tank wasn't good enough, even though one of them recommended it. That we needed another heat source. We asked them what we needed to buy but neither one of them would give us an answer. I finally gave up and put everything back. Worst pet store experience of my life. Will never go back again. They've lost my business as a customer. They kept saying that this was a new species that they were carrying. Maybe they need to be trained on new animals that come in and how to treat people like customers and not animal abusers. read more

Took an old girl to have her nails done. We explained that she would need to lay down can't stand on 3 feet. Groomer took her in the back and proceeded to cut her nails without laying her down. I heard her yelp and went to see what was happening and she had cut the nail to short and before I could get around the desk she had cut another one. Dog can barely walk now. Visited this location for the first time the other night and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had initially come to the store to purchase some accessories for my daughters hamster cage but immediately put everything back and left after I witnessed a lady in plain clothes claiming to be an assistant manager yelling at a few kids (maybe early twenties) about some fish they were buying. The manager raised her voice at the kids stating she would not sell one of them the fish they picked out because she didn't think he knew what he was doing. One of the kids said something along the lines of "this is F'ing ridiculous I'm in here all of the time". The manager then proceeded to tell him to "get out and don't come back" I am astonished that a manager would make wild assumptions about the conditions of a customers personal aquarium without any proof of her claims. I believe the managers name was "Sarah" but I cannot confirm as she was not wearing anything signifying she worked for Petco. I will never visit this location again after seeing how the management treats its customers. read more

Today's visit was the second and last horrible customer service I will expose myself to at this location. The first time was a 30 minute wait to get fish. Today the wait went 10 minutes after one staff member pointed us toward the only other employee qualified to get fish (riiiiiight) while he continued to stock palettes of inventory with 3 other staff members. Stocking a big shipment should not jeopardize customer service. If the tasks designated for a days work cannot be handled or multi-tasked with customer service by the staff, then perhaps stocking should take place after business hours. I see that the customer service problems are a direct reflection of the managing as I watched other customers wander around looking for service. I wonder how many people left without purchasing because I know I didn't. Oh, and we also stopped using the grooming service for the same reasons mentioned below. If you need fish or grooming services go some where else. If you need any other pet supplies there are more affordable and helpful places outside the area. read more
