Love Zac the groomer! There have been several excellent, compassionate groomers over the years, but they don't seem to stay long. Please hang on to Zac. He's so good with our 100 lb,formerly abused rescue, who we can't leave anywhere else. Our dog loves him and he gets a great brush out. Less hair on the furniture at home than when I took him to another groomer. Plus, he always asks how I'm doing, since I was diagnosed with cancer early this year. One day he even helped me read ingredients on canned food, because I have a vision disability and the cans are hard for me to read. Very thoughtful person, rare in today's retail environment. My thought is: If I bribe him enough, it will eventually become second nature and he will no longer need the constant treats! What can I say, I like positive reinforcement. By now, you've guessed my reason for visiting Petco. I needed different types of treats in order to bribe my puppy into doing different things. I think the prices there are competitive, compared to Pet-smart anyway. I do think Pet smart is organized a little better. I did like the fact that the dog stuff is all on the same side, just like pet smart. However, it did take me a while to find the treats, they are all the way in the back! I started taking my puppy here for grooming once a month in December then starting in April they would call and cancel to reschedule. My dog skipped July groom because of rescheduling pushing her to the end of Aug. when I took her in a few minutes early the groomer gave me trouble about leaving her. I then told her nevermind I would take her to another Petco. When I called a different Petco the grooming manager at Petco on Spencer had put in a message to black ball my puppy from Petco. After 8 month of going and having viral care I was black balled. I will never go back to Petco. I even called corporate and never heard back. Petsmart has my business now and I will recommend Petsmart to all. read more

Zero starts if I could. Horrible company customer service. I've been looking for a specific type of fish. Neon terta, it's not especially special. I bought 8 at Petco and within 2 days In my tank they died. I made sure they I acclimated to the water first and did a ph tests and all my other fish were fine. This was the response I sent when they asked why my experience was so bad in their store a week after my purchase: "Honestly though, do you expect people to keep dead fish in their tank for 2+ days so they can bring them back in or do you expect people to discard the dead fish (Like everyone would) and then days later you inform the customer they can bring their dead fish in for a refund/ replacement KNOWING the fish have been long gone? If Petco was TRULY about customer service they would inform the customers that if the fish do die, they could get a refund when they actually buy the fish in store. Telling the customer this after they've gotten ride of the dead fish is worthless and I give no credit to Petco for pretending to try about customer service. " With no response or help from them. 2 months later. I strongly believe Petco says they have great customer service but in this experience they contacted me way too late and after they informed me I could get a refund(2 weeks after purchase) I already got rid of my dead Petco pet, they pretend to care and will only give me a refund "If you bring it in". Why can't they tell you that at checkout? Why tell you that after they die and you already got rid of them??? I've preferred PetSmart after 1 time of visiting this Petco. Looking back at my experience at this store nobody even tried to helped me, just walked in passed me by without offering help, when I needed something I'd have to go looking for an employee and ask them to help me. I do not recommend this Petco specifically for the lack of consideration to their customers. I'd rather drive the extra 7 minutes to PetSmart than shop here. read more

The grooming session went well. Our yorkie is hard to keep still, so I am always impressed that they are able to get it done. I tried to do it myself and decided it is worth the cost to take her to a groomer. She came out looking good, smelling good, and feeling so soft. Karley T did an excellent job on her and is the only groomer our dog will somewhat tolerate. Only one area of improvement is that I wish there were more choices of appointments without booking weeks in advance. I am a last-minute person, which puts me in rush hour traffic. read more

The employees are there to make sells not get involved/ judge with how you care for your pets. I don't need people telling me their two cents. I have been a dog owner since I was little. Let me get the things I need for my dogs and leave me alone. Stop over stepping acting like you know it all on the book. Keep your mouth shut unless you have a veterinarian medical degree or you're asked something. And older lady with short hair was giving me a hard time because we have a puppy over 3 months old walking around with his older dog brother. She started telling me that I shouldn't let him walk, because he doesn't have all his shots like if she knew everything about our pup. I tried walking away from her and she still insisted asking if I have proof of his shot records. I was beyond annoyed with her and her over stepping. She then saw me again and she had the nerve to mumble over her breath, "So ignorant", no one asked for you opinion lady. She then stated, "don't come blame us when your dog gets sick and you have to pay the vet bill!" We have our veterinarian that takes extremely good care of the well being of my dogs, which they are taken frequently for check ups, thank you. I refuse to shop at petco again. read more

Since moving back to this side of town again I started to shop here for dog food. I brought one of my 2 Dachshunds in to have her nails trimmed last month and the person who did the trimming was so kind and patient with my dog. This is now my new place to go for everything my girls need. read more

This location has improved a lot over the last several years. They maintain their live animals much better than they used to. It used to smell of dirty cages before, no longer does. They seem to take better care of their fish tanks than the closest petsmart does now too. I used to go out of my way to shop at petsmart and avoid this location but now can shop closer to home at this store. read more

I normally talk Bow to this groomers. He normally sees I think is David. But, he was not there. Bow was groomed OK! but, he did not trim, his front paw nails.Which is really needed! He said, "Bow won't let him." Yes, he is older, 10 so he is picky and at times nips. They always get him groomed correctly anyway. Maybe they need to hire a behavior Specialist who knows how to handle all dog behaviors. read more

This is the second time we have purchased something from Petco and they refused to return/exchange. The first time, my daughter bought a spinning wheel online for her hampster. It was broken in the package when delivered. Online said to take to local store. The Petco on Spencer refused to even exchange the item. Said we were out of luck. The second time, my kids bought some salt water fish. They were told they were guaranteed. However, even after following all the directions, the fish died. Again, Petco on Spencer said we were just out of luck. They wouldn't warranty them because they were saltwater. When confronted about the promise two days earlier, they were told the employee thought they were talking about freshwater fish. read more

Though they were busy, Joel took the time to help us closely look at all the hamsters and make sure the one we selected was friendly. I appreciated his help so much! Ooh where do I start I do not like being an a$$ but I have gone here for quite a while for saltwater/brackish water pets. I literally waited 45 minutes to speak to the aquarium specialist (this is how long she has been talking to a couple knowing that they are shorthanded and that people are starting to just stand around the fish products, and they got mad and just walked out the store)then the manger see me and asks if I needed help I said yes and she told me that Alyssa is the new aquarium specialist just transferred from another store and she was the only one there and that they were short staffed that day(5-17-19)as she was telling me this the phone rag she excused herself and answered it. When it was finally my turn (almost an hour by now) Alyssa is free...walking up to her when some lady comes out of nowhere and proceeded to tell Alyssa what she needed. Afterwards Alyssa never told the lady "Ma'am I will get with you as soon as I'm done with this customer (me) we're short staffed and she's been waiting an hour " ...Nope...so I turned away, grabbed whatever the Internet said I needed, and proceeded to check out. As I'm checking out, I see Alyssa along with three other people just lollygagging. I do NOT think I will be coming back. Rather spend a bit more at mom and pop shops, where customer service is valued. read more
