Excellent experience getting our Cavapoo puppy bathed and groomed. Very happy with the groomer, Yelitza. Pup was not traumatized by experience, only his second grooming, and first time it was not just a "puppy cut". Yelitza and others in store were helpful, friendly. Since it is a giant store, I was happily surprised at how the experience felt individualized for our puppy. Will return! read more

I went to get my dog groomed today and had a bunch of issues. 1. The groomer couldn't look at my Vetco paperwork and confirm my dogs rabies vaccinations and took her anyways. She's vaccinated but what if she wasn't? I informed her my dog is partially blind and gets skiddish so she takes warming up and she's sensitive about her butt. Not even 30 minutes later I received a call saying my dog wasn't tolerating the grooming and would need to be sedated in order to get a hair cut so they couldn't cut it. I asked them to show me what they did on the table and the groomer proceeded to cut her hair and she didn't like it. This is how they gave my dog back to me. They told me they tried to cut her hair, she didn't like the clippers so they stopped and tried again. So how does her hair turn out like this with SO much hair missing. They were unapologetic and when I asked to speak to a MANAGER, the head stylist told me she was the highest level of supervisor there. They don't actually care about your dogs and they didn't even try to pet her or make her feel comfortable. Don't recommend groomer Salina or the head stylist. read more

Initially I was going to come on here an leave a scathing review. Truth is I've taken Dawg here for years for grooming and always liked the job they did. This time, a new manager told me they wouldn't be taking Dawg because of his age. Yes he's 17 and looks like a puppy after grooming. His groomer had told me at his last appointment that they had just hired a new manager and she might be leaving because of it. When I saw she was still working I booked an appointment. Keep in mind that nobody called me to tell me they couldn't groom (even though his last appt he was also 17?? After the manager, she told me that 5 or 6 times like it's something young children aspire to, said they wouldn't take him I asked to talk to the groomer. The "manager" kept her in back and when she came out.she repeated word for word what had been said. I was sad, Dawg was sad but I guess this is just part of the new world order that makes me grateful I'm 70. Glad I don't need a haircut. I think what bothered me the most was the way this girl kept smirking while telling me over and over that she was the manager. Oh well... read more

I was taking my 10 lb dog to Petco in Pinellas Park for over two years. I had the same girl each time. The hair cut was ok but I didn't want his beard cut and half the time she did not listen. I started to notice that either the back or the front nails were not done. Of course I didn't find this till I was home. So finding that this was happening I reminded her to cut the nails including the dew claw. Well it only got worse! The last time I took him there she only cut the nails on one foot! This was our first visit to this Petco location in the 'Shoppes at Park Place' (Pinellas Park Mall) which is located in the southwestern corner of the intersection of Park Blvd. and US Hwy 19. This store is located in the southern part of the mall complex that faces US 19. The store was clean and very spacious. We were greeted at the door. Our cat likes a specific brand of soft and hard food. They carried both brands. We belong to their rewards program and because of their coupons and reward points, we got $15 off of our purchases. So, be sure and sign up for their rewards program if you plan to shop there. You can get coupons mailed to you as well as utilizing their online point system to account for your purchases. This Petco is super friendly! All the ladies at the cash register was very helpful. I also did the puppy training class with Miranda and even though I was the only one in the class, it went well! She was knowledgeable and engaged with me and my puppy. I would recommend her to train your puppy too! She gave us homework which is always good practice. The store is clean and nicely laid out. The store is separated by animals (cats on one side, dogs on other) and most of the products were in stock. I was able to find products easily because of the big marketing signs hanging from the ceiling. read more

Well they carry a variety of other dog foods that other store does not, plus they have slightly better prices here. I also find the staff here to be very helpful and friendly. I took my dogs to this location. I have 3 dogs. My shitzus face wasn't cut and my Pomeranian has nails that curve into paw bed they never did a couple, I called and they told me I would have to bring her to a vet to get done. My shitzu there excuse was she was matted and wouldn't behave but what's funny is when I picked her up they said she did good but had a SITTING problem. I immediately took her to Petco in Clearwater on East Bay. With no appointment took my Pomeranian in and had absolutely no problem cutting and buffing them. she will be 7 and never had to take her to a vet to get her nails done. when I called to them what happened and my unhappiness I was hung up on. Today I thought I would drop in for a screen tank cover and a cat carrier. I wasn't there for 5 minutes and saw people both leaving the store and coming in with no masks. I have always gone to PetSmart when I was living in Clearwater. Now that I live in St. Pete, this Petco is the most convinient location for me so I just did not really care whether it was Petco or PetSmart. Well it turned out that I was very wrong! I had a hamster (unfortunately he is gone now) and was looking for his food. They do not offer many products for small animals. They have limited selection and their price is much higher thatn PetSmart. Even small things like hamster treats, which I can get for3-4 dollars at PetSmart, Petco charges $6! That's 1.5-2 times the price! They have only one check-out counter and it can be a long wait. However, the staffs were very nice. Now that my hamster is gone, I don't have a reason to go to any pet store, however if I ever do, then my choice would be a PetSmart. No doubt about it! read more

I took my puppy here for trim and nails. She barked after another dog started barking I corrected her the manager already had an attitude when she came over I apologized and explained shes a excited puppy, she sat when told to but tried licking her hand and jumping up I said no, and she sat. The manager immediately started saying she couldnt trim her nails due to safety...Shes never had the issue with petco elsewhere? They've bathed and trimmed her. It was obvious she was having a bad day and did not want to be there. I 'read' people for a living and even if I didn't anyone could see her attitude. Someone else came out and said they would hold her and they did, as I was on my phone on the other side of the counter she gave me a dirty look and waved me off, I noticed her grab my dogs paw angrily and said wth? But the other lady with dark hair was nice so I let her finish. Then whilst paying I saw her angrily brush this little beige dog so bad that it kept turning around to snap at her. Even one of the associates felt bad for me and told me! All the other staff were fine especially 'leighton'? He was very professional and was more mature than his manager! He is the only reason I didn't go off on her. Even another customer came up to me and suggested her groomer in st. Pete. I will not go back unless the grooming manager is gone period. Spoke to a very harried-sounding young man who reluctantly agreed to cap my cat's claws. I felt for him-we've all had bad days and/or jobs we don't like. I get it. I brought Luther in. Luther is seven, blind, and generally pretty agreeable--I've never once heard him hiss--although he can be squirmy when handled. Well, after a brief, unsuccessful negotiation, the groomer informed me that he would be unable to overcome my cat's understandable resistance to having his head placed in a large plastic ball and his feet fucked with. He suggested I bring the cat to a private groomer or vet, either of which would presumably draw on a deeper well of experience and resolve. Perhaps I should have left the number of the Petsmart in Austin, Texas, that successfully performed the same service six weeks earlier so he could ask for pointers. In the groomer's defense, I can honestly say he was kind and polite-he just kindly and politely didn't manage the task. My cat fought the law, and the law lost. read more

I had such a great experience here. I was pleasantly surprised. No offense, but I don't expect great customer experiences anymore. Before going, I did hours of research on collars and harnesses for our new puppy. When we got to PetCo I couldn't find what I was looking for. When I asked one of the employees at a register, she stopped what she was doing and took me right to the correct aisle. Thank you! Then Damien came along, what a great employee. Even though I said I knew what I was looking for, he stuck with me, took a harness out of a package, fit it to our puppy, and showed me its features. I think I learned more from him in 15 minutes than I would from a trainer. His knowledge of puppies and their behaviors was so helpful. Then Damien did a price match for me and we got the harness for a lower price than expected. So we spent the difference on dog treats. I live fairly close so it's convenient to take my pup here for services. We would make a day of it, roam around, buy some toys and treats, and be on our way. On other occasions, I would get her groomed, with typical unsatisfactory results. So, I decided to purchase my own clippers and do the grooming myself. I still take her to the store for her anal glad expression. Each time we go, I walk in, someone greets me, take my pup, 5 min later, they are done and we are on our way. This day...... I walk in with the same expectations but.... this time, I get a "She is too busy to take you". I'm shocked and say, it takes 5 minutes, why not. The response was "She is grooming other dogs, sorry, come back tomorrow" How inconsiderate and inconvenient. Now, the real question... will I be back. Idk.. I will try my hardest to go to get vet or elsewhere but in a pinch, I know I will have no choice but to go! Step up your game, get qualified groomers, and train your employees to accommodate your customers especially if you offer walk in services for minor things! I've owned dogs/and a cat for the past 14yrs and today walking into that Petco I was reminded why I'm a loyal Chewy customer and will NEVER walk into a Petco again!!!! Petsmart, yes, but Never again Petco! I've never seen worse customer service in my life! These places need to really be more careful with who they hire! I walked in to an old grey haired ponytailed man(looking oh so happy to be there I might add! I'd be miserable too considering I'm a petco cashier when I should be "retired" by now)....he didn't notice me, he was to busy on his phone! I timed it....22min went by, not 1 person on the floor! I then asked a women, guess it was the groomer. "Is there anybody who works here?" She turned to grandpa, who was still on his phone, and he said "nobody is available what do you need?" I said "I have a few questions" and he replied "ya and you can ask me" he said it with such an attitude, and that's when I said "forget it continue on your phone" and I WALKED OUT!!!! Dropped off my dog at 2pm to be groomer and they told me they would call when she was done... 6pm rolls around and no call. At 4pm I got a text saying they scheduled her an appointment for a month from today without asking if I was okay with that first. I finally call because I had a meeting at 6:30 and I couldn't reach the grooming department so I finally do regular customer service... the man proceeds to laugh and tell me that grooming had been closed so she was definitely ready to be picked up. I was charged $10 more than what I was told it would be for seemingly no reason. They did not listen to what I asked them to do in regards to trimming her feet. So in other words... I spent $57 to have my dog groomed not how I asked, to have her sit in a kennel waiting for hours because I was never texted or called, and to miss a meeting. Brought my dog in for a grooming on a Tuesday since it was a day off in the middle of the week and it would free up my weekend. My appointment was for 1pm, so I dropped him off and the guy there said it'd be a couple hours. I hadn't heard anything by 4 so I stopped in to check, and they still hadn't gotten to him. When I finally did pick my dog up at 6, they said they weren't able to trim his nails at all because he was stressed out. Well, they'd just had my dog in a kennel for nearly 5 hours, and he isn't crate trained so I'd say he was probably a bit stressed, yes. If you know you're going to be short staffed on a weekday, don't overbook yourselves. I had to pay over 45 dollars for a shampoo and brush, didn't get the services I expected, and on top of it my dog was pissed off at being cooped up in there for half the day. Went in on the morning of October 5th, 2014. I take care of a cat for my landlords while they are on vacation. His name is Harry, an orange Minnesota tabby with a white belly of about six years of age, but the nails on his paws were getting too big to manage, so off to Petco. Harry doesn't like it when he's taken outside of his home environs, and left a note of his displeasure inside of his kennel, if you catch my drift. Not a problem for the Petco staff as they cleaned his mess while trimming his nails for only $10. The service was fast and courteous , as I was in and out within 15 minutes. PetCo isn't a bad pet store to shop at, but there are other shops that have more than this one does. The interior such as floors and shelves are generally clean and there's a decent variety of pet food, treats and toys including the top three Solid Gold , Blue Buffalo, and Wellness. Their prices, however, leave much to be desired. Between the two chains, PetCo is inferior to Petsmart which has a much wider variety of pet food, toys, and products for different pets. However, if you have the rewards card you have the chance to snag a few deals. And if you look hard enough you could find some cute toys. But why look hard when Petsmart has sales in your face? read more

I've been coming here for over a year now. The litter and food I buy here are usually always on sale, and with my Pals Card, I get points for everything I buy. Every other month I get 5$ in rewards to spend on anything in the store. The cashiers are always friendly to me, and a couple times when I couldn't find the adult cat food in the brand I get, the manager went in the back to look and apologized that they didn't have what I needed at the moment. It wasn't a big deal, as my cats had just turned 1 years old. In addition to the good customer service and always loving the brands and prices, the store is always clean, and I enjoy that. read more

The store is covered in these flys 4. I call the corporate 1800# can you believe they never ever called me back from the store or corporate. Brought my 1 1/2 year old cocker spaniel (Otis) here for the fist time today and we won't be back. Came in around 12 to ask if I could drop Otis off earlier but was told that due to high volume of grooming today that I would have to return at 1pm per appointment. I retuned at 1pm to drop off Otis and also bought a shampoo which i perfer to be used. I received a phone call form Petco at 3:16pm infoming me that Otis is not doing well with the grooming due to a bad case diarrhea and they cannot finish the grooming. I was asked if he normally has issues to which I explain that he gets groomed almost every month and this is the first time I have ever head of Otis having an issue. The Petco employee told me that there is a dog upsetting a lot of the other dogs and that may be the issue. When I came in to pick up Otis, a different employee gave Otis to me and said based on his reaction he would suggest Otis only get groomed at a vet. I explained that Otis normally gets groomed monthly and he has never had an issue in the past. Furthermore, I take Otis to different groomers and all have said he has done well. The Petco employee with a shrug said "Maybe he's just more comfortable with the other groomers" and walked away. On my way home I stopped by my parents' house as they live close to Petco, and they said they had a similar experience with their dog as well.. I will absolutely never come back to Petco for anything, and had I known about my parents' similar experience I would have never brought Otis here to get groomed in the first place. Now I have to finish drying Otis as he was given back to me damp. read more

Awesome experience , Me and my boyfriend went in to get a new cone for our puppy who just got spayed and had some other questions regarding her chewing things and training. Damion and Ness were very friendly and informative. So great that it brought me here to leave this review because We were just so blown away by what great customer service we had at this Petco.
