I've been taking both my dogs to Marshella at Petco Grooming for several years now. They always look great and she treats them like her own. I also love the rewards points I get that I can then use on food and toys for them. One dog is a Havanese and the other is a Yorkie/Havanese mix, so they need grooming every 6-8 weeks. Love this store. I had a stressful drive with traffic and dreaded even going but they have the special kind of dog food for my allergy prone lab. Lindsey was the cashier and so genuinely sweet. I use this Petco OFTEN. I have purchased Purina Indoor Cat Formula there for over 3 years and they always have it in stock and I never have had an issue with it, I also buy the Temptation treats as well. This place is also the only one I can find the liter I use for my cat at a decent price, I use the Feline Pine brand. I purchased a 10 gallon fish tank kit there, again NO issues. I did purchase the GloFish which were priced much higher then Walmart. I also purchased a baby Albino Corn Snake as well, he is growing bigger and bigger! During this purchase my daughter begged me for this snake, wanting to make sure she understood EXACTLY what it meant having a snake as a pet, I had the store employee explain EVERYTHING that went with taking care of this critter, lol. And he did JUST that, now she loves her very cool looking snake and she cares for it all on her own. I have always purchased the snakles food at this location and never had a problem with that either. So I purchase food for all my pet needs at this location, they always have a good variety to choose from too! read more

Ok pet store...I went looking for a new collar for my dog and it seemed they were really low or out of stock with every collar there. Unless you wanted orange or green. A lot of the collars were in the wrong spots and all of the sizes were mixed together. Disorganized. Checkout was speedy. I didn't have to wait at all. Girl at the counter was pleasant. Will probably be back since I think this is the only one in the area. read more

As pet stores go, they have what you need, but nothing extraordinary here. Customer service could be better and cashout lines could move quicker but that's just my opinion. Larger, and "smarter" pet stores will carry more items and are more of a one stop shopping solution, but small businesses need to thrive as well so we can have competition. More emphasis on product variety, making sure items are stocked and out on the shelves would be a great start. I have been here a few times and the only items where there was a blank shelf with a price tag was the very item I needed. I could have mgmt. check the back of the store, but just as easily I can drive 5 minutes to a "smart" pet store and my item will be in stock. Room for improvement, but a solid choice for pet care and supplies. read more

I just moved here and I have been here a few times while trying to get my dogs adjusted to their new home. The staff has been lackluster but helpful. I had to return an item without a receipt and the manager gave me no grief. He simply gave me options and did what he needed to do (store credit) without giving me issues- even though I had opened it already. I've had good conversations and I have been helped multiple times here. I will most likely go here for my pet needs. read more

I like this store but they are always out of the specific treats I need. I used to live by the Westshore store but now its 20mi away. I still have to drive the 20mi to get what I need so I stock up once every few months. I keep giving this store a chance but it always fails me. read more

I love this store because the staff treats my dog extremely well whenever we come into the store. They're friendly and engage with his excitement especially when we're at the check out counter. I've also had numerous questions regarding dog materials and Tom who is also the certified dog trainer has given me helpful advice and products to use which have worked out really well. read more

Thank you Marchella!!! Coming in on the weekend might have been a mistake for the chicken of a dog I have, but you came to help us and you were great. When my dog is really scared she poops a little and it gets stuck under her tail. She's never done it at a nail appointment. Marchella took her back, cut her nails and when i was watching her, she was so loving with my dog and i think she made her feel really comfortable and put a smile on my face!! I brought my dog into the Pinellas Park location on Thursday, August 20 for a 4:15 appointment. When we checked in, I was told it could be 3 hours until he is ready due to them being busy. I was concerned about the long wait, as I would have brought him in later rather than wait in a kennel, so I asked her to confirm the wait time for me. When she returned she told me it should be 2-2.5 hours. I decided to leave him there and left the store. I called back around 6:50 PM, as I hadn't heard from them. I was rudely told on the phone that they had called three times and texted me and they would be closing in 10 minutes. I was shocked as I hadn't received any calls or texts. When I asked her to confirm the phone number they had, they had the incorrect number (despite having an account with the store and visiting there many times before), as they added the 727 area code to the front of my actual phone number. The person on the phone then asked, in a tone as if I had done something wrong, how quickly I could get there. Luckily, for my own sanity, I live about 5 minutes away. When I told her I would be there as soon as possible, she told me she would ask her manager to "stop closing the store." I arrived at 7:01 and there were at least 6 cars in the parking and about 10 customers still shopping in the store. As soon as I entered, the woman at the grooming check in desk said "wow you're quick." She then gave me a ticket to pay. When my dog was finally brought out to me she did apologize, but followed it up with "I guess that's what happens when Marcella checks you in." This whole experience was concerning and frustrating in so many ways. On my drive to pick up my dog I couldn't help but wonder, especially based on their tone, what would they have done if I called past 7? Has this happened before with other customers? I had no idea that they closed at 7, especially considering I was originally told a pick up past then. I couldn't in good conscience let this happen without telling people, as I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. I tried to be understanding about the situation, but it was handled so poorly by the staff that I will not be returning to this location again, and will inform anyone who asks about my terrible experience. read more

I have been taking my puppies here for grooming for quite a while now. I am especially happy with how they treat my Maltese. She is small and can be skittish but when I take her in to see Dave in grooming, she is fine. She likes him and is not nervous when I take her. My little guy Monte is a rescue, and sometimes he has issues. I've been bringing him here to get his nails done for a few months, and I have to say we have never had an issue. The staff is always patient with him and polite with me. They treat him tenderly and seem to have genuine affection for him. One of the groomers calls Monte his "beautiful brown eyed boy" and Amy is especially caring with him. Do NOT take your dog here to be groomed. I took my 5 month old labradoodle to have his eyebrows trimmed back and they comPletely shaved his nose almost to the skin! He looks like a baby monkey now. Which sounds cute, but it looks horrible! They clearly do not know what they're doing. Don't even give it a try. We will NEVER be going back. read more

I trust David, the Pet Grooming Manager at PETCO in Pinellas Park, implicitly with my 3 cavalier king Charles spaniels who I consider my kids. I have been taking 2 of my cavaliers, Cooper ( a senior) & Ella, to David for grooming for several years and recently added my senior (11+ years old) cavalier rescue, Gracie, to the pack. The are quite a handful of fur and always require extra brushing, extra fur whitening and attention to various grooming details unique to each cavalier. Most important, David listens and appreciates my wish to keep the cavies "au natural" with grinchy feet and feathers, all of which require some clean up trim but not too much. David gets it right every time. My cavaliers require a little extra effort when being groomed and always need to stay at least 5 hours because they must be dried by hand (no dryers in kennels for these guys) and I know they are well cared for during their stay. PETCO/David gives us boutique service at a reasonable price. Highly recommend. read more

I was treated like crap in this store by the general manager Jeremy. Petco sold me a brazilian rainbow boa that was not treated for bugs, worms, ect...my snake and the other rainbow boa they had in the store died of the same cause..the general manager gave me a hard time on giving my money back...I have pictures of the perfect habitat that I had for the snake. The reptile specialist Matthew clearly stated that both snakes were not treated and that's why they both died. I will never buy or shop at Petco because of unprofessional and disrespectful experience I had. I worn all people who are thinking about buying a reptile or snake from this store, I recommend not to buy one. Personal suggestion would be the pinellas county reptile store. All their animals are treated. I also called petco corporate number and explained what happen. They were disappointed in the bad customer service, the snakes not being treated like their supposed to be, and no compassion on the snake dying. It was very upsetting. Another thing too is that this is not my first rodeo on taking care of snakes I have 2 at home that are healthy and happy. Hopefully the corporate will resolve this issue and have a conclusion to why there general manager treats his customers like that and why are they selling snakes that are sick. read more
